The everfree forest rested in a peaceful silence, the leaves upon the trees swaying slowly in the wind, a low thunderous beat could be heard in the distance rapidly approaching and growing in noise. Suddenly, trees could be seen tumbling over upon each other as a large metallic body made itself visible above them. Within this monster of cogs, gears, and rusting paint lay two ponies with determination in their spirits. The one unicorn looked towards her companion as she asked with a look of unsettlement, “Hey Bons, do you think that we may have stirred up the guys at home?”

The butter colored mare didn’t keep her eyes off of the path ahead, she sat inside an enveloping case of bio-synthetic polymer, tracking her thoughts to keep the interior working at a safe status. As she stared at her screen depicting the forest, she replied, “What do you mean?”

Lyra was in a separate room, more towards the head of the mech, she sat within her own case and controlled the exterior, managing the movement and weapons. Lrya quickly listed all her reasons, “Well, we did leave without telling anypony where we’re going, we could die doing this, or we could consequently doom all of Equestria even further if we fail at this. All I’m saying is that we should have at least left a small note with a smiley face on it.”

Bon-Bon pulled her head away from her visor and looked around the dimly lit room, a small red light was all that was required to see everywhere. Bon-Bon rubbed he eyes on her shoulders to try to get rid of the burns in her retinas due to the brightness of her screen as she replied, “Speaking of which, why are we doing this anyway?”

Lyra quickly replied as the mech reached the mountain, “We’re going through the mountains to find creatures we could recruit.”

“Why?” Bon-Bon asked aloud.

Lyra pulled her eyes away from her overly bright screen and rubbed her eyes as she sighed, she had become tired of continuously explaining things to Bon-Bon. Lyra calmed herself down as she explained it to her, “Because we need all the help we can get if we want to win this inevitable war.”

“No,” the candy loving pony began, “I mean why are we using a five hundred hand tall walking tank for this?”

Lyra stopped walking; she immediately brought up a camera intercom with Bon-Bon so she could see Lyra’s look of pity as she said, “Two words: Robot Tank. Violence may not be the answer, but it sure as heck helps us find the answer.”

Bon-Bon smiled as she shook her head and replied, “Whatever, we have to get ready, we’re almost at the top of the mountain.”

Lyra grinned with anticipation, she could finally test the firepower of this iron beast as she whispered, let’s do this.”

The giant walking tank finally climbed to the top, the flat top of the mountain was barren aside from a few holes here and there, Lyra quickly scanned the area for signs of life. After a few minutes of scanning, Lyra quickly assumed there was nothing at the top of the mountain, yet a small signal began to sound and Lyra looked towards the ground. The ground was packed with moving life forms, a silent scuttling and the sound of bug shells rubbing against each other could be heard.

Lyra pointed her arm towards the ground, the very end of it began to glow brightly and a low humming could be heard. Bon-Bon began to frantically fiddle with the controls as she panicked, “Are you crazy? You’re not going to blast them out, are you?”

Lyra was silent for a few seconds; she stared into a blank direction that was the barren dirt ground before quietly replying, “Yeah, when you’re brainwashed by some sadistic psycho queen bent on ruling a land of love, you tend to hold a grudge.”

Lyra smiled at the corner of her mouth, she narrowed her eyes like Clint Eastwood as she whispered, “Surprise, mothabucka!” Lyra fired at the changelings general direction as Bon-Bon screamed.

Alex was sitting on one of the benches in the dining area of the boat, his eyes suddenly widened as he said to himself, “Woah, that was weird.”

Mike calmly approached his friend as he questioned him, “What happened?”

“Well, two things just happened,” Alex began, “first was the feeling that everything just stopped for a ridiculously long time for no reason and then started again. Almost like when an author just doesn’t write anymore and has no excuse for it.”

Mike nodded, “Yeah, well what about the other thing?”

Alex shook his head as he tried to think harder, “There’s also the feeling that someone somewhere made a really, and I mean really, stupid decision. Kinda like trying to stop a burning box of magnesium with water.”

Mike sat next to his buddy as he began, “Look, I kinda understand the first feel that you had, I’ve been feeling that too but I’m sure there’s a reasonable excuse for it.”

Alex nodded in agreement, “Yeah I guess you’re right,” he began, “thankfully whatever that feeling is, that feeling of being stopped, that feeling is gone now.”

Mike patted his friend on the back as he said, “Gotta get ready, we’re almost at our destination.”
