What You Wish For 3: The Book of Earth Pony

All Alex could hear was the sweet sound of Fluttershy’s lullaby as she gently cuddled up to him while in the hospital bed, calmly humming a tune as she wrapped her hooves around Alex. Alex simply lied there, his head still wrapped in bandages from the injury, he was able to talk through a closed jaw but no more due to it being broken. Fluttershy kept running her hoof along Alex’s chest until her song had reached its end where she said, “Are you ready to come out of those bandages, hun?”

Alex inhaled deeply before saying in a muffled voice, “Sure am, I can smell my own breath… not too pleasant.” Alex concentrated on fixing his jaw bone and before he knew it his jaw was back in place, the feeling of the bones shifting beneath making him cringe a bit. Once his jaw had come back into place he said calmly to the yellow pony, “Can you do the honors and unwrap me?”

Fluttershy scooched up towards the pillows before gently placing his head on her crossed hind legs and saying, “Promise not to breath into my nose?”

Alex laughed as he said, “Promise.” He then began to feel the bandages slowly letting off the pressure from being wrapped around him so tightly, soon he felt his scalp come into contact with fresh air. He then felt his forehead and was beginning to see light, soon enough he was completely unwrapped and looking up at Fluttershy. Her warm soft coat of fur feeling like ecstasy with the slow rhythm of her breathing making him give off the largest and most dopey smile yet, he couldn’t help but kiss her gently as she smiled down at him.

Fluttershy broke away from the kiss as she said with a giggle, “Alex, you told me you wouldn’t breath in my face! You smell like a pig sty in that hatch of yours.”

Alex laughed as he slowly got out of bed and said, “Not my fault I couldn’t brush my teeth, some nice mints would have been good though.” Alex then proceeded to fill his mouth with water, rinsing out the bad breath.

As Alex took in a large gulp of water he heard the door open again, the sound of human footsteps making him fear the worst when a voice of a middle aged man said, “Mr. Mulroney?” Alex looked up to see three men, two soldiers at the side of a man who wore a suit with every western country’s flag on it. Alex was so startled that he spat the water out, realizing his mistake he caught the water in mid-air and began to float it in front of the man as he said with awe, “You are just as good as he said, young man. Come with me, we need to negotiate.”

Alex watched as the man turned around and walked out the hospital followed by one of the soldiers, the other one staying behind for Alex. Alex looked over at Fluttershy and shrugged to sign that he had no clue what was going on, he then turned towards the door and walked out with the soldier pointing a futuristic assault rifle at him.

Turns out that the man visiting Alex was supreme commander of every army in the western hemisphere, he said he was here to negotiate with Alex. As the plane flew through the winter skies, inside the commander and Alex sat in opposing chairs in a luxurious conference room. As the commander took a sip from his coffee he said, “Mr. Mulroney, like I said earlier I am here to strike a deal with you.”

Alex raised his hand to stop him and said while looking around the room, “First you’re going to answer my questions. How did you get here and why do I have a small army aimed at my head?”

The commander washed down his coffee before saying, “Thanks to advances in science, and the coordinates of a very helpful individual, we have managed to bridge the gap between these two universes that you bridged so many years ago.”

Alex’s brows lowered in slight anger as he said, “You still haven’t answered why I have guns pointed at my head, is this how you treat all of your guests?”

The man slowly got up as he said with a fake smile, “Don’t tempt me, boy, these men will kill you with a flick of their wrists. Be grateful that I came here instead of my friend, with him in power he would become the next Hitler and would kill you in a snap. I however am a peaceful one and present you with a deal.”

Alex began to calm down before saying, “Fine, let’s hear it.”

The commander took a deep breath as he leaned back in his chair and said, “Young man, I know of all the people you are holding hostage here, yet I shall not punish you because you are in foreign territory. Instead all I ask is that I let my army come through to this world to bring back the hostages, mine a few minerals here and there, and we shall become trading partners and will make a fortune.”

Alex smiled as he gently laughed and said, “You really think that I’m going to let your troops into my land? As soon as your guys set foot, you have taken over Equestria. Besides, I have no hostages so your source is lying.”

The man pulled a folder from his desk as he said, “Oh really? We know that these aren’t just stupid horses like the ones back in your real home, Alex, no these ones were professional kidnappers and have kidnapped so many people at your command.”

Alex looked at the photos as he said, “Bullshit, I am the guardian of this city, I want nothing to do with your world so why would we kidnap the pope?”

The man sighed before saying, “You tell me, criminal. Just let our troops in, we take back the hostages and your name is cleared.”

Alex stood up as he said, “Listen to me, you may not remember what happened almost two hundred years ago when Germany gave Austria the ultimatum, but this is exactly the same. I will not allow your troops inside my world.”

The man laughed an evil laugh as he said, “Do you really want to go to war? Even if we did, you would lose in an instant with your horses and your old technology. That’s right, one of my sources infiltrated your world, stole some of your most advanced technology and left with only ‘minor resistance’.”

Alex slammed his hands on the desk as he shouted, “Your source is tricking you! I know who he is!” Suddenly one of the soldiers jammed the butt of his gun into Alex’s leg which made him fall to the ground. As he slowly got back up, he looked at the soldier’s gun pointed right at his head.

Once Alex was back up he listened to the laughter of the commander as he said, “Like I would believe you, criminal. It’s a shame we couldn’t make a deal, looks like we will have to settle this some other way.”

Alex said angrily, “Anything but war, these citizens are too innocent to fight back.”

The man shook his head as he said, “Surely we will find another way, anything but war.” The man blinked a couple of times before he said to one of his soldiers, “Kill him.”

As the soldier approached Alex he said through a speaker, “Say good night, kid.”

Alex was then slammed onto the table, his face pressed hard against the table as he laughed and said, “You really think we rely on technology to protect us? No… we use magic.” Alex then sent a pulse of magic from his mind to his back; he created a shockwave that sent the soldier crashing into the others at the door. Alex took the opportunity to burst into a sprint down the hall, the commander immediately whipping out his pistol and firing at him.

As Alex ran for his life he could hear the commander shouting, “Kill him by any means.” Alex turned his head towards the end of the hall to see soldiers filing in and blocking the exit. He then turned around to see soldiers at the other end as well; he then realized he was surrounded. As the guards slowly approached him with their guns drawn, Alex thought hard about what to do next. He looked around as the commander said, “It’s a shame you had to do this to yourself, it could have ended so peacefully.”

Alex looked to his side and saw a window, having no better ideas and not to mention he lacked impulse control he extended his arm and sent out a blast of energy. The shockwave shattered the window and began to suck the warm air from the airplane, he then took the opportunity to run and dive out the window as the bullets began to fly. As soon as he was completely out of the plane he realized that the vessel was heading for a mountain with no intention to stop, the plane not showing any signs of slowing down. Alex watched in horror as the plane suddenly tore itself apart as it smashed into the mountain, exploding soon afterwards.

Alex watched himself as he fell from the sky towards the mountainside below, he thought of a way to get himself out of this situation and right before hitting the ground he casted a levitation spell on himself. He immediately began to float in the air above the trees and sharp rocks below, pieces of the plane wreckage soon following him in great balls of fire. Alex looked up to see burning corpses raining down; the commander’s being the one to land first for some reason. Alex had to resist the urge to throw up as he quickly turned towards Ponyville and took off; he had a dark and grim message to tell Equestria.

Rainbow Dash seemed more scared than ever as she said, “War? You cannot be serious; we are not going to war.”

Alex sighed as he slumped his head; he looked around the library at Lauren and the rest of Fluttershy’s friends. The princesses watched the explosion and knew that nothing good was going to come out of it, so they came here as soon as possible. Alex took in a deep breath as he said, “I wish I was kidding, but Earthlings are only going to see this as a message of war and are going to strike us in god knows how much time.”

Mike rolled his wheelchair into the middle of the room as he said in a serious tone, “He ain’t kiddin’ girls. The big dogs back home ain’t gonna see this as an accident and are gonna whoop our asses.”

Celestia talked silently with Luna before saying, “Alex, this is extremely important for all of Equestria to know, you must set up a conference tomorrow to warn everypony.”

Alex shook his head as he burrowed them into his hands and said, “I can’t believe I did this to you all.”

Luna rested her hoof on Alex’s shoulder as she said, “Listen, we know you didn’t mean to do this but moping about what happened will only make it harder to face what hasn’t happened yet.”

Fluttershy hugged Alex as she said, “Please don’t leave us, Alex. Don’t leave me.”

Alex hugged her tightly as he said, “I won’t be leaving anyone here, in fact I need to stay here to help Lauren find a certain book.”

Lauren nodded her head as she said, “Yeah, we need to find that book of Earth Pony, we’re going to need all the firepower we can get if we want to keep Equestria safe from the military.”

Alex thought hard before turning to Twilight and saying, “Twilight, I need you to look around the library to find out where we are going to find the next book. We need the location as soon as possible.”

Twilight nodded her head as she said, “Gotcha!”

Alex then turned to Dash and Applejack as he said, “Girls, you two are going to help Pinkie and Rarity prepare for the announcement in Canterlot with the royal sisters.”

The six ponies nodded their heads in agreement before Alex turned to Fluttershy and Mike as he said, “You two are coming with me, we are going to earth for a bit. We need to find out who our enemies are and we’re taking back Mike here.”

Mike shook his head as he said, “No way in hell, dog, I’m staying to fight for you. You save my ass and I save yours.”

Fluttershy looked up at Alex as she said, “Why do you need me?”

Alex inhaled deeply as he said, “I need you to come with me because that way you and Lyra will document as much of Earth’s technology as possible. Lyra’s tech is being dwarfed by Earth’s smallest things.” Alex then turned to the rest of the group as he said, “By tomorrow Fluttershy, Lyra and I will have returned with blueprints of Earth’s gadgetry, I will then announce that war is on the horizon and we will then go looking for the book as soon as possible.”

Everyone in the group nodded their heads in agreement as they all said, “Right!”

Inside the White House, the president was fixing up his tie as he said to the secretary, “Is the press ready?”

The woman nodded her head as she said, “Yes Mr. President, right this way.” She then motioned towards the door; the president quickly walked through and walked onto the stage in front of the shouting crowd of reporters.

The president motioned for them to quiet down as he said, “May I have your attention please?” The man watched as everyone immediately stopped talking, sitting down back in their seats and waiting for him to speak. The president cleared his throat before saying, “Last week we got a report that the supreme commander of the Canadian, American, Mexican, and All southern countries militaries died at the hands of the one known as Alex Mulroney. This is not a sign of murder but a threat to go to war; we will not negotiate with terrorists and shall proceed with Operation Bridge. Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans alike must all listen carefully because we are entering a dark time with one of history’s greatest wars on the horizon.” As he said that the crowd began to take millions of pictures. The president calmed them down again before saying, “As of today, the Prime Minister, the President of Mexico and I have all signed and passed conscription meaning that all able bodied men and women between the ages of 18 and 50 must join their national military. We are entering a dark time in human history; let’s make sure these aren’t our last years alive. God bless America.” With that the president walked off the stage and exited the room answering no questions for it was absolutely clear what he had said.
