A car drove down a lone highway during the night, the rain pouring down hard upon the earth nearly drowning it. As the car drove, Kyle sat in the backseat; his finger tightly wrapped the trigger of a small pistol he had pointed at the driver. The inside of the car was high class leather with fine wood dashboard, the driver tried his best to remain calm as he said, “So uh… can I live?”

Kyle shook his head as he said in a deep and raspy voice, he sounded hesitant to answer him almost as though he was regretting it, “I don’t know,” he said with his head low, “that will be decided by my friend and not me.”

Eventually the car pulled up to a lone house, the rain had begun to calm down by now yet still helped litter the car in brown mud. As Kyle exited, the car nearly bounced as the pressure was released from the suspension. Kyle slowly turned back, revealing a drenched and infection ridden face as he said, “Stay here.”

Kyle watched as the man nodded his head with a shake, the fear of death was in his eyes. Kyle then turned around and began to walk up the wooden steps of the house; they creaked and cracked under his weight as he took every step. Kyle reached the door and extended one of his fists; he slowly tapped the door and waited for a response. The sound of a whispering and ghostly voice sent shivers down Kyle’s spine as it said, “Come in, you’re late.”

Kyle slowly pushed the door open, finally escaping the rain as it thundered outside. Kyle looked around the abandoned house, not a single living thing had touched it in nearly fifty years and the wood began to show its age. Kyle called out in a deep tone, “I think Alex might have discovered a weakness in my abilities.”

Kyle didn’t have to wait for too long to hear the voice once again, “How so?”

Kyle watched as a shadowy black unicorn emerged from the shadows of the old house, her eyes glowed a dark blood red as she looked at him. Kyle extended his right hand, he pulled a knife out with his left hand and began to drag the blade along his hand as he said, “Human weapons seem to hurt me more than Equestrian magic.”

Shadow looked down at his bleeding hand as she said in a hiss, her face barely showing any care for him, “Well then it’s a good thing you have the humans fighting for you, with your weapons against their limited powers as well as the time skew being on our side, we will be unstoppable.”

As Shadow turned away to face one of the windows, her hair bleeding black smoke that fell at an angle as the moon shined onto her face. Kyle closed his hand tightly due to the pain as he said, “Alex stole all the blueprints.”

Shadow turned her head a full 180 degrees, her eyes flaming up with rage as she said, “What?”

Kyle approached her as he said in a grim tone, “He infiltrated one of our posts and stole blueprints for all of the vehicles we had developed for Equestria. With that knowledge he can figure out the weak points on all of our technology and use it against us.”

Shadow hissed, her hair beginning to turn to black flames before she turned around while saying, “It’s a shame he isn’t as weak as you, you pathetic waste of my energy.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Sorry does not bring all of our precious information back, sorry only makes me regret hiring someone as pitiful and as useless as you. We need to attack them as soon as possible. We must move the attack to next year.”

Kyle looked down at her, a mixed look of confusion and worry on his face as he said, “But we need the three other years to train the soldiers of what they will encounter.”

Shadow began to mock him, her head swaying in a dopey fashion as she said, “You already have Special operatives, do you not? Are they not capable of dealing with any situation?”

“Yes they are.”

“Then send them as a warning not to mess with ShadowThunder’s will.”

Kyle began to think of the plan; something was not right about this. He slowly turned around as he said without looking back, “Why must you start a war between us? Why must you pit humans against Equestrians? Why must we put the lives of innocent humans at stake?”

Shadow did not turn her head, she felt embarrassed enough being in the same room as him as she said with a sigh, “Alex is a man of peace, I have seen the dedication in his heart. I have also sensed his mental disability, he is distracted. If we bring war to Equestria, he will either: leave behind Equestria to die to find the book or fight for the ‘right cause’ and allow us time to find and steal the book.”

Kyle nodded his head as he said, “So war is necessary.”

“Yes it is. You may go and command my new request, have the troops ready by next year to be deployed.”

As Kyle walked towards the door to leave, he heard Shadow turn her head and say, “Oh and you can kill the driver. He is no longer needed.”

Kyle nodded his head; he slowly opened the door to enter the rainy weather. As he stepped down the stairs, he slowly pulled the small pistol from his pocket. He watched as the driver began to panic, his eyes beginning to tear up as he held tightly to the cross around his neck. As Kyle approached the driver’s side, the driver slowly rolled the window down to meet the pistol halfway. As the driver sat there with his eyes tightly shut, Kyle closed his eyes as he said deep with regret, “Bless this man, our Father. He did not deserve the death he has been given and may St. Peter greet him with eternal peace.”

As the driver looked up, his face beginning to understand Kyle, Kyle looked back at him as he said in a shaking whisper, “I’m so sorry.” Kyle then pulled the trigger; he felt the metal piece click back as a loud gunshot was heard and his arm shook. He kept his eyes closed the entire time until he heard the horn begin to honk, the driver’s head resting on it as it lay there dead. Kyle slowly opened the door to the driver’s side and pulled the driver out, Kyle quickly opened his wounded hand and wiped some of his blood on the man’s head as he said, “Hope this helps.” He watched in slight joy as the wound began to close up, leaving a dead man with no sign of a gunshot wound. Kyle quickly pulled a shovel out of the trunk of the car and began to dig a hole next to the house, hanging his head low as he planted the spade into the ground. Once the hole was finished he gently placed the man in the hole and buried him, keeping his necklace in his hand as he filled the hole with dirt.

When he had finished the burial, he gently kneeled down and placed the small cross on top of the soil as he said to himself, “I’m sorry…” Kyle slowly got back up, his head drenched and his suit soaked. He slowly walked towards the car and dropped the shovel in the passenger’s seat, the mud splattering the fine leather seating. Kyle plopped himself in the driver’s seat and gripped the steering wheel, as he stared at the house he began to tear up. Kyle gently rested his head on the steering wheel and let his tears fall from his face; he felt regret like never before. He had killed an innocent human. Once Kyle had finished his regret and pulled himself back together, he then turned the car back on and drove away.

All Alex could see at the moment were flashes of images, they mostly lasted for a couple of seconds though. Alex then found himself standing in a field with Fluttershy, the flowers were brushing against his skin as he laid peacefully in the grass next to his love. Fluttershy slowly crawled on top of him and smiled down at him, the warmth he felt in his heart made him nearly giggle with joy. Alex looked up at Fluttershy as he said, “I love you.”

Fluttershy looked back down as she said, “I love you too.” Fluttershy then closed her eyes as she moved towards Alex, as their lips began to approach Alex closed his eyes as well. As Alex kissed her, he began to feel warmer and warmer. He opened his eyes to see that a burning body was laying on top of him, the surrounding fields had now begun to burn like the pits of hell. Alex quickly threw the dead corpse off of him and stood up, he looked around at the burning cities that were being ravaged by explosion. He looked back down at his feet to see more bodies of humans and ponies, most of them were missing limbs or chunks to their bodies as they lay there covered in blood. Alex began to scream as he tripped over the bodies, he then fell into a ditch to find a man sitting there. Alex shouted at him, “What happened here?”

The man slowly turned to look at Alex and revealed his face. Alex nearly vomited as he saw the rest of the man’s head; it had been blown clean off. The man looked at Alex as he said with no emotion, “You did this.”

Alex suddenly jolted upright, his eyes and arms were glowing bright orange and his forehead was sweating. He quickly got himself together and realized it was only a nightmare; he looked around the room to see everything had gone back to normal. He then looked down to see Fluttershy sleeping peacefully with a dopey smile on her face, her legs twitching every now and then. Alex slowed his breathing down before getting out of bed; he slipped his slippers on and put on a bathrobe before going downstairs.

Once he reached the kitchen he opened the fridge and pulled out a large tub of yogurt, he popped the top off and began to pour it down his throat. Alex planted the tub of yogurt on the table and began to shovel it into his mouth with his hand, like the author does when he is lonely. As he ate (not sure if that can even be considered eating), a soft voice spoke from behind Alex, “What’s wrong honey?”

Alex shook his head from side to side as he said, “Nothing, dear, go back to bed.”

Fluttershy slowly trotted up beside him as she said, “Shoveling expired vanilla yogurt down your throat is not nothing. You eat when you are bothered.”

Alex turned to Fluttershy, his cheeks were puffed out and filled with the now expired yogurt as he said, “Do not.”

Fluttershy gave Alex a look that said “Oh really”. Fluttershy pulled up a chair next to him as she said in her soft voice, “Oh really? When The Expendables 4 came out, you were devastated to the point of eating my pearl necklace.”

Alex shook his head, he managed to swallow the yogurt before saying in a tired voice, “Am I a bad person?”

Fluttershy moved her chair closer to him as she said with a hug of her wing, “No you are not. You’re the greatest person a pony could ask for.”

Alex dropped the empty yogurt container into the trashcan as he said, “I’m sending Equestria to war with my own people. If I hadn’t kept myself alive all those years ago… I would never have put you in danger.”

Fluttershy began to tear up, she felt hurt to hear that as she said in a gentle tone, “Alex… if you killed yourself all those years ago… you wouldn’t be here, you wouldn’t have saved our world from ShadowThunder. You wouldn’t be living here in Equestria, you wouldn’t… have met me. Aren’t you happy with me?”

Alex looked back at her, he could see the tears streaming from her eyes. He slowly brought up his hand and gently rubbed it against her cheeks, the soft hair on her small pink cheeks tingled his fingers. He slowly stroked under her eyes and wiped the tears from her as he said with the most sincere smile, “I have never been happier, I want to be with you forever.” Alex kissed her cheek, he slowly planted his face in her hair as he hugged her and said, “But I’m afraid everypony else might hate me for what I got us into.”

Fluttershy began to stroke her hoof through Alex’s still uncut mullet as she said, “You are a hero, you’re here to save us. You’re fighting for our safety and freedom.”

Alex hugged her tightly, he wrapped his arms around her soft body as he said, “But what if me and Lauren aren’t enough?”

Alex could suddenly feel the gently nibble of her teeth on his earlobe before hearing her say, “You are enough to save us from chaos.”

Alex began to think of what she just said; something in that sentence gave him an idea. As he thought about it he began to rejoice, he whispered in awe, “Chaos… I have an idea.”
