Mordecai: Last Of the Dinorex
Chapter I: The Journey
It was pretty much a normal day for Mordecai. He was like a dragon, but not a dragon. His race was called 'Dinorex', and he was the last left of his species, but he didn't know this.
He walked down a small field, where he harvested crops. There were no animals, so he'd learnt to become a herbivore. He was pink, a 'Pinkie Pie' pink. But Mordecai knew nothing of ponies yet. His spines were a darker shade of pink, and his underbelly was a whiter pink.
As he walked through the corn field, Mordecai thought to himself 'I wonder if I am the only being in Equestria?' He knew about Celestia and Luna, and the whole 'Nightmare Moon' thing, but he didn't ever know what a pony actually was.
He was 22 years old. But compared to ponies, that's like being 5 or 6. Mordecai had thought he was the only Dinorex left in the world, [when Mordecai uses the word 'Dinorex', he means 'everyone' or 'person/pony'].
Later, after he had done with the crops, he got back to his house, which was just a hollowed out rock. But it had furnishing, and a picture on his wall, a picture he never remembered making, or getting. The only thing he knew about this picture was that, he had noticed it soon after his mother had died. That was a difficult time in his life.
When it was time to go to sleep, Mordecai decided to himself that he would venture out into the world, he had had enough of just being a farmer. So before going to sleep, he gathered the necessary belongings, and put them in a small bag. He put the bag next to a torn up mattress, which he called a bed. He got onto his bed. He needed no blanket or quilt because he was cold-blooded [not as in 'evil']. his touch was warm, but his blood was literally cold.
He closed his eyes, and rested, quickly going into deep sleep, and having strange dreams about what the outside world would be like.
-Ponyville-
"Spike?" said Twilight, a purple unicorn, with a cutie mark, which coincidentally matched her name. her mane was a dark colour, with one light purple stripe, and a blue stripe.
Spike, a small purple dragon, with green spikes [:3] and a green underbelly walked into Twilight's room, which was just the second story of a library she lived in. "Yes, what is it?" he asked. Twilight was sat on her bed,
"I need you to write a letter about the importance of trust" she said.
"Ok, what shall I write?" he said, grabbing a quill and a piece of paper, or parchment.
"Dear Princess Celestia, today I learned that if your not sure about something, and no-one believes you, you cant always expect your friends to help you." she said. Spike was still about halfway writing it.
"Okay, and…done!" he said. "Twilight?" he said. Twilight stopped daydreaming,
"Huh, yes Spike?" She asked, not realizing he'd spoke.
"Do you…think that I'm the only dragon in Ponyville?" he asked. Twilight looked at him with a lot of confusion.
"Spike, why did you bring up that subject again?" she asked. 'Spike knows he's not the only dragon, why-' she was thinking before Spike spoke again,
"It's just, it gets kind if boring when you've got friends you can hang out with, and go on adventures and stuff…" he trailed off.
"Spike, I don't let you come with me because I'm worried you'll get hurt or something else. You're only a baby dragon you know." she said. Spike walked back down the stairs. He mumbled to himself,
"Yeah, when I'm 20."
-The Next Day-
Mordecai had been awake since 6am. It was now 7:34am. He had been making sure to get everything he needed.
"Right, so I've got food to last for about 10 days, err, and I've got my harmonica." he packed the items as he read them aloud. "Toothbrush, toothpaste, and that's it…" he said. He never usually had much to do, which is why he decided to- "Oh, and my mum's painting" he said. -move, and find a new living location.
He got his belonging's in a small bag, which he hung on his shoulder. He left the front door, which he needn't lock, seeing as no-one lived anywhere near him. He walked down a cobblestone path, which eventually ended. "Left, no, right, yeah right." he said, turning right, and starting to walk.
-Somewhere in the palace-
"Luna?" asked Princess Celestia, walking up and down on a balcony. Suddenly, a bright flash, and Luna appeared.
"Yes, Sister?" she said.
"It's the Dinorex" she said. Luna backed up a little,
"He's finally moving?" she asked her sister. Celestia nodded,
"Yes, and his mother asked before she passed, we must ensure his safety while he travels to Ponyville. It is a 32 mile walk." she said.
"What was his name again?"
Celestia smiled, "Mordecai" she softly spoke.
-Ponyville-
Twilight was walking down a street, a market, trying to find someone.
"Spike!" she shouted. It appears he had run away.
"Spike! Where are you?" she asked again, getting stares. 'Spike, what is with this sudden mood change?' she thought to herself.
-Elsewhere-
"I'll show you, I find another dragon, I have to!" Spike spoke to himself. He'd gone to see Zecora earlier, about how to find dragons, she told him to go left of Ponyville.
What he didn't know was that Celestia had told Zecora of Mordecai.
He was about 4 miles from Ponyville when Twilight had gone to see Zecora, and Zecora had told Twilight about his leave.
So Twilight ran in the same direction, hoping to find him.
Meanwhile, back to Spike, "Maybe I shouldn't have left" he said. It was expected that at one point during his adventure, he'd consider going back home. "No, I have to know where I came from!" he burst out in anger, he was upset, angry, confused, and frankly had no idea where he was going.
-Mordecai's Adventure-
It was 32 miles to Ponyville from his house/cave, and Mordecai was already 11 miles away from his cave, but he didn't know this, he'd just walked for a long time.
"Oh, there has to be something out there, like, even if it's a bug, or a tree…" he said, surely he'd have to find something soon, some sort off life?
"There's nothing." he said.
He carried on walking, it was about 3pm by now.
He stopped walking, and sat down, he was getting hungry, he opened his bag, and took out a small bread bun, with jam in it. He ate it as slowly as he could, for he couldn't eat again for at least 6 hours. He had not packed enough food, but it looked enough when he packed it.
When he got up, picked up his bag, and carried on walking, he had a few flashbacks of his mother, the ones he remembered. One was of when he and his mother were making something, he couldn't remember what, a cake maybe? Another one of him hiding under the floor, when he'd dug a small hole under the house. And when his dad left, he didn't come back.
That was why his mother had…left? Died?
All Mordecai knew was that his mother was too weak to carry on, so she either left or died. He assumed it was the latter.

Chapter II: The Others
It was now getting to somewhere from 8pm to 9pm. He had now travelled 23 miles away from his house.
Meanwhile, where Spike was, he had given up now, and started to walk back, he got 8 miles.
Mordecai noticed something moving up ahead, way up ahead, about a mile. "HEY!" he shouted, he started sprinting.
Spike turned around, "What?" he said. Something was running towards him. "Who is that?" he said.
Mordecai was really close to him now, who was this? "HEY!" he shouted again, he'd found someone, he looked like a Dinorex, except, he must not be one, because all Dinorex are pink. He was purple, and he had green spikes on his head and back.
Spike stood still, at this new sight, he'd never seen anything like it before. "Hello?" he shouted.
Mordecai was running too fast, and when he was close to the creature, he found he couldn't stop. *Crash*
"Ow" said Spike, standing back up.
"Oh my goodness, someone else, where…how…sorry' he coughed' My name is Mordecai, and you?" he said, he was way too exited.
"My name is spike, and what are you?" said Spike.
"Me? I-I'm a Dinorex, why?" Mordecai said, this Spike character looked the same age as him.
"I thought Dinorex were extinct" Spike said.
"I've been living on my own for 12 years." he said, Spike suddenly looked really scared,
"Wait a second, don't D-D-Dinorex eat dragons?" he said.
"Not that I'm aware of, and if we did, why would I eat you, I've only just met you, and I've not seen anyone since my mother…" he trailed off, he still didn't know what happened to his mother.
"Don't knowyour mom, eh?" asked spike.
Mordecai's day dreaming was cancelled, "What? Erm, no, she left I think, or passed on, I'm not sure, I know my dad left and didn't come back…" he trailed off again.
Spike took a step further towards Mordecai, "Hey, do you wanna come with me back to Ponyville, Twilight would love to see a species that is still around, if that makes sense?" he said.
"It does, sort of anyway." said Mordecai. He and Spike started walking back the way Spike had come-the way back to Ponyville. On the way, Spike could've sworn he'd heard someone shouting his name, he shrugged it off, and carried on walking.
After a few seconds, he knew someone was actually saying his name, and it was probably Twilight, she had probably followed him. "SPIKE!" he heard, seeing a purple blur running towards him, and the now seemingly terrified Mordecai. But of course, he'd never seen a pony, so it was strange for him.
"C'mon, dude, it's just Twilight, she couldn't hurt a fly, or does that describe Fluttershy better?" he questioned himself, since Mordecai was a Dinorex, he had the ability to make his body look like a rock, and he had done so.
Twilight finally reached Spike's location, "Spike?' she asked, 'why are you talking to a rock?" she said panting, it was a long way.
"Well, it's not a rock, it's a Dinorex!" he shouted, Twilight looking even more confused.
"Spike, that, is, a, rock." she said. Spike nudged the rock, and Mordecai kicked one of his legs. Twilight gasped as Mordecai unfolded from his naturist form of a rock into his usual Dinorex self. "It can't be, Dinorex are extinct!" she squealed.
Twilight started jumping, "Oh my gosh, Princess Celestia-" she was cut off, when a blinding light appeared behind her. The flash went away, revealing a large, white alicorn, with a cloud-like mane. Princess Celestia.
"Princess!" Twilight shouted, before silencing herself in the presence of royalty.
"Twilight Sparkle, I have read your recent letter, a little off track, but good, a lesson learnt. Now I'm here for a brief moment to explain why Mordecai is here-" Celestia looked at Mordecai, he cut her off.
"How do you know my name, I thought you were a legend!" he shouted.
"And many ponies think you are also a legend, now, your mother-" again, Mordecai was inpatient,
"My mother! What happened to her?" he said, then he looked at spike, who made a shush motion with his claws.
"Well, if you will let me continue, your mother, before she passed on, asked of me, if you were to ever leave your home, to guide you to Ponyville, and make sure you never got into trouble, and I have obliged, so will you continue with Twilight, my faithful assistant, and her assistant, Spike to Ponyville?"
Shocked at her tremendous lecture, all Mordecai could do was nod lightly, and say, "I'm not alone."
He was not alone in the world.
"I must go now, I have various duties to perform." said Celestia, leaving in a flash, smaller than the one she arrived in.
"Well, urm, should we go back to the library now, Twilight?" asked Spike, but Twilight seemed too interested in Mordecai to notice, then Mordecai spoke,
"Twilight, I assume is your name?" she nodded. "Well, can we go to this er library now, like spike said?" he asked.
Twilight stopped looking happy, and said, "Oh, yeah." she closed her eyes.
"Spike, why is she-" Mordecai said, before cutting himself off at the sight of Twilights horn glowing, and suddenly everything went a white-static sort of colour.
"what happened?" shouted Mordecai. Then shapes started to mould, and books appeared in shelves.
"Yeah, that can happen if it's the first time you teleport." said Twilight.
Mordecai was dazed for a few minutes, then he walked over to, what he could only assume, the front door.
"Your curious, aren't you?" she asked.
Mordecai said "I want to see Fluttershy" which made Twilight concerned,
"How do you know about Fluttershy?" she said.
"Spike said their name, I think they're a girl" he said, looking though the door's window.
"Okay then" she said, opening the front door,"But there is one thing I need to do before we leave" she said. She went up some stairs. "I'll be about 5 minutes" she said, leaving Mordecai and Spike's view.
"So, how is it here?" he said. Spike looked like he'd been in a trance since the teleport, he awoke
"Huh, oh it's nice. Twilight has tons of friends, there are some who call themselves the mane 6." he said. Mordecai took a seat on a couch.
"So, do you know any abilities I have?" he said. Spike looked confused,
"Other than the fact you can turn into a rock?" he said, trollingly.
"Well' said Mordecai 'I can drink lava, but I prefer not to, it has a weird aftertaste. I can also-hold on" he stopped speaking.
Spike's face went to shock to see all of Mordecai's scales moving, like water, then suddenly, he vanished. "Tada!" he shouted. Spike still in awe.
"Whoa, dude-that's creepy." he said.
"I know right, I can turn invisible, basically, I just make it so my scales turn a colour your eyes can't perceive as being an actual colour." Spike looked confused,
"So, you just, erased your colour?" he asked, trying to make sense of it, he didn't know where Mordecai was, if he was invisible. Suddenly he appeared again, right next to Spike,
"So, what can dragons do?" he said.
"Well, I can't turn into rocks, or go invisible, but I can swim in lava, and I'm not like other dragons, because I live with ponies, and I ACTUALLY HAVE EMOTIONS" he said, when he said the emotion thing, he seemed to sound a little bit annoyed.
"Okay, I think you should know one more thing" said Mordecai, Spike looked at him again,
"Yes?" he said. Mordecai said
"Well, I've never seen anyone in my life, and im 22, and I've only ever seen my mom once, I cant quite remember what she looks like, I can only remember when I look at this picture…" he trailed off, finding his inventory, he opened his bag.
He rummaged around, and picked up a small frame, he handed it to Spike. "This is her?" he asked. Mordecai nodded, taking back the picture, it was a drawing, made with custom pastels.
"I have no idea what happened to her, I just know that she is… not in this world…" he said.
Twilight appeared at the top of the stairs, "Spike, I need you to send this letter to Princess Celestia." she said.
Mordecai watched Spike walk upstairs, and grab the neatly folded letter, and held it in front of his mouth, and burped. A green flame came out of his mouth, and the letter disappeared.
"Wow, I didn't know you can send messages with... fire-burps" said Mordecai, instantly cheering up.
"Well, Mordecai, I am ready, Spike is ready, and are you ready to go and see Fluttershy, and the others?" she asked.
"Others?" he replied.
Spike walked downstairs with Twilight, "Yeah, there's Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity." he said. When Spike said Rarity, he stopped and started thinking.
Twilight walked over to Mordecai, and whispered in his ear, "He has a crush on her" she said. Spike was still glaring in the same direction, before becoming conscious once more, when Twilight shouted his name, he sat on her back.
Twilight walked over to the front door, and used her magic to open it. She didn't close her eyes, 'Maybe she didn't need to use as much power?' thought Mordecai. He walked up to the front door, "I-I'm ready." he said, as he walked out of the front door.
Already he could see around ten to twenty ponies, he was getting strange stares from them. "Don't worry, they've just never seen a Dinorex." said Twilight.
"Yeah, figured that" he said.
After a few minutes of being directed towards a massive tree, hollowed out, with windows and a door, Mordecai quickly ran up to it, he looked back at Twilight and shouted "This one, right?" she shouted yes back to him. He Knocked on the door, waiting for a reply.
"Hello?" he said. Still waiting, from behind him, he heard a small gasp. He turned around to see a shocked looking pony, with wings, she was yellow, and had a butterfly mark on her flank. "Hello?" said Mordecai once more.
"Hello…" he heard her say quietly.
"Erm, my name is Mordecai, and I'm a Dinorex. Your Fluttershy, correct?" he said.
Well, he remembered how Spike had a secret crush on Rarity. Yeah, he had a sudden crush on said pony in front of him, she looked timid, and she was really shy, but she was sweet-and cute.
"Yes, I'm Fluttershy, may I ask why you're here?" she said. Mordecai only just realized that he had been staring into her eyes for the past twenty seconds.
"I-Oh, ur, sorry, I am here to see you really, just because you're the first one the mane 6 I've heard about, other than Twilight."
Darn this pony, with her cuteness abilities. 'Well, my heart just melted.' he thought to himself.
"Okay, what do you want to talk about?" she asked.
What he said next he regretted with all of his soul, "Do you like me?" Fluttershy seemed taken aback by this,
"What do you mean?" she asked.
Twilight and Spike were giggling in the distance, which didn't help. "As a friend?" he fixed the situation rather well, actually.
"I suppose so, but I'd have to get to know you more some other time, I'm afraid. I have to feed the birds." she said, trotting past him, It was nice meeting you" she said.
Mordecai said his goodbyes, and retreated to Twilight and Spike, he said in a playful tone "Confound that pony, with her adorableness!" which made Spike laugh even further.
"Is it me, or does everyone have a secret crush on someone?" Spike said laughing, Twilight just blushed.
"Well, lets go to see the others." she said, Spike agreed, and so did Mordecai, so they set off again.
'I can tell, right now, that I' gonna have a really good time here!' thought Mordecai.

Chapter III: The Changeling
As Mordecai, Spike and Twilight were headed to meet other four, the day grew quiet and the sun started to set. “Twilight?” asked Mordecai.
“Yes Mordecai?” she replied.
“Why does spike sit on your back? Surely he can walk by himself” he asked. Confounded, Twilight looked at Spike, then back at Mordecai,
“I guess it just makes us… comfier” she replied. Mordecai shrugged it off as they arrived upon the town. Something sped past Mordecai,
“What, hey!” he shouted, but they had already gone.
“What’s the matter?” asked Spike.
“Some donkus bumped into me” he replied agitatedly.
“Donkus? Nice word” said Spike, laughing. Twilight told Mordecai to stay put as she and Spike went into a lacy looking building. Mordecai heard a flapping sound from behind him.
“Hello?” he said, looking for someone. “I know someone is there, I just heard you” he continued. “This isn’t funny, I just found out that there are others besides me in this world, and you’re freaking me out” he said. Now, getting rather impatient, he decided to look around.
Mordecai heard a cooing sound coming from a crate of some sort. He opened the crate and saw a dark looking pony; only it had a green mane and blue eyes. It had curious holes in each of its hooves. “Hello?” said Mordecai, trying to be friendly, but the creature backed away in the crate.
“Mordecai?” asked Twilight from a distance.
“Twilight, come here, I found something” he said, then saw a note pinned to the side of the crate that read ‘Give to Twilight Sparkle’, “And I think it’s for you” he finished.
“Whatever do you mean?” he said, coming into view, it was rather misty. “What is that?” she asked.
“Come and have a look, I don’t know—“, said Mordecai, but was interrupted by a scared looking Twilight.
“A-A changeling?!” she squealed. She looked at the note and it read fully;
‘For Twilight Sparkle,
You know very well who I am, and I know that would probably reject the offer. The offer is that you take care of this drone, I have separated if from the hive and it now has its own emotions, the first it will feel is a thing called fear. I need you to understand that the changeling race have no other source of nourishment than emotions. I have devised a system, where if you could… love this drone, he wouldn’t need to weaken you, for you would be feeding him willingly. The changeling race is suffering, and I, Queen Chrysalis, cannot go another day seeing my children in pain. I want to know that at least one of them is safe. I know it will be safe in your hooves. The last thing I want to say is that as a Queen, I can too feel emotion, but not love, only hate, I cannot feed my race forever, but the world could help. If you really think about it, we’re the victims, forced to live in the shadows.
From Chrysalis’
Twilight looked again at the changeling Child. “The others need to see this” she said.
“It’s so cute” said Mordecai, pulling a face that said OMGSOCUTE!
“Are you serious, they almost enslaved us at my brother’s wedding!” she screamed. Off in the distance, somepony shouted shut up, but it was night now.
“You read the note, right? She said that they were the victims, having to feed off innocent ponies because no-one would help them” he said. Twilight blinked,
“I… never looked at it that way” she said, sighing.
“Twilight, dear, are you alright?” came a posh sounding voice, which soon Mordecai saw was being emitted from a white unicorn, similar to Twilight, and had a white coat, and a purple main, it looked like velvet.
“Oh, Rarity, I’m fine” she said, trying to hide the changeling.
“What is that?” asked Rarity. Spike smiled,
“It’s a changeling that chrysalis wants us to help” he said, looking in a trance. Mordecai tapped Twilight, who looked displeased,
“Does he always act like this around her?” he asked.
“Unfortunately” she answered, nodding slowly. Rarity dropped her jaw and looked at the letter that Twilight failed to cover.
“Chrysalis… Asking for help… of ponies?” she stuttered, “It has to be a trap” she said. Rarity walked up to the crate, and saw the contents, “It is cute, but isn’t to be trusted, Twilight” she said.
“But it’s scared, all you need to do is love it willingly” said Mordecai. Rarity looked at Mordecai and squealed. The pony from a distance was getting annoyed.
“Is that a Dinorex?” she said.
“Yes, I think Celestia would like to see him herself” she said. All Rarity was doing was bouncing up and down.
“I thought they were extinct” she said.
“So did I, but I met him only a few hours ago, we should take him to see the others” said Twilight, then looked at the changeling, “And that too” she said.
Mordecai was getting angry now, “Don’t call him or her it, they have feeling, you read the letter! Stop judging this one creature because his or her queen tried to enslave you!” he shouted.
“My dear, a changeling has no gender” said Rarity.
“But at least call it him or her depending on how it reacts and feels, for example, when it grows up, what if it liked make up and stuff?” he asked.
“Well, yeah I suppose” said Twilight.
“Exactly, I myself have no gender, but I feel free to call myself Mordecai and that I am a male” he said, finally getting the point across.
“You have no gender?” asked Rarity.
“Nope, not a single gender” he said, happily.
The three looked at him, and then at each other. Twilight looked at the changeling, “Moving on” she said, “How are we going to move him?” she asked
“I’ll carry him” said Mordecai. Twilight nodded,
“Good, because I got Spike to look after and Rarity was only free for a couple of minutes, she has a tight schedule” said Twilight, with her eyes closed.
Mordecai looked at the crate, “Hey little guy… or girl” he said, slowly reaching out. The changeling’s eyes suddenly developed irises. “Whoa” said Mordecai. The changeling crawled over to Mordecai and inspected his claws. They sniffed him and then muzzled his claw. ’So cute!’ thought Mordecai.
“I’ve never seen a changeling act like that before” said Twilight after saying farewell to Rarity. The changeling crawled into Mordecai’s claws and since Mordecai’s touch was cold, he used a fire spell he knew of to heat his body slightly, turning himself orange.
“Dude, what going on?” said Spike, concerned.
“Spike, calm down, it’s a heat spell I read about when I was young, it’ll keep him—“, he said, but the changeling started fidgeting around.
“Mordecai, changelings are insectoid, they prefer cold to hot” said Twilight. Mordecai nodded and rid himself of the spell. The changeling seemed content with this and leaned it’s head on Mordecai’s arm.
“Darned cuteness” he said.
The three started walking down the street again and towards somewhere that Twilight described as it’ll make you hungry and hungry it made him, for they had arrived at a farm, an apple farm after a ten minute walk. Ponyville seemed to be smaller than it looked.
“Twilight, who is Chrysalis exactly?” he asked as they walked up to a house in the farm. The door opened to reveal an orange pony with a hat,
“Chrysalis is a demon-hearted cretin bent on destroying all our lives” she said. Then she looked at the changeling, and cringed, “Er… why do you have a changeling?” she said, sounding slightly scared.
“Applejack, this is Mordecai, he is a Dinorex. And this is a changeling, we found him in a crate in town and a note from Chrysalis told me that she couldn’t bear to see another child in pain. She removed him from the hive and asked us to look after him” she said, getting tired, as Mordecai could tell because she had faint bags under her eyes, she had been up since early this morning.
“Alrighty, well, did you give it a name or something?” she asked.
“I wanna name it, if it’s okay with you” said Mordecai. Twilight looked at the ground.
“If you want to name him, you can” she said, then yawned.
“I’m going to call you Chris” he said.
“But that’s just the Queen’s name shortened” said Applejack.
“But it’s a boy and a girl’s name” he said, making his point.
“Ah suppose, and what if it already wants a name for itself?” she asked.
“Well, until then, he’ll or she’ll have to put up with being called Chris” he said, smirking.
“Well, he seems to like it” said Applejack. She was looking at Chris, who seemed to be content with the amount of love Mordecai was producing. “So, Ah reckon’ ya came to see me for something other than showing me the newbies?” she asked.
“Oh yeah, I need you to supply Mordecai… and Chris with a home, you know what I’m doing tonight” she said.
“I’d be happy to, Twilight” said Applejack, moving slightly to let Mordecai and Chris in.
“I didn’t know Chris could walk” said Twilight.
“Neither did I, but I guess I don’t need to carry him now” he said, when suddenly Chris looked at him and made with the puppy dog eyes. “Oh, fine” said Mordecai.
Applejack looked back at twilight, “I’ll seeya tomorrow” she said, she had a city accent. Twilight nodded and started walking away.
“Come on Spike” she said, then she looked back, Spike was not there nor on her back. “Spike?” she said a bit louder and then she realized where spike was. Rarity’s boutique.
In Applejack’s house
Mordecai went to a sofa and sat down, “This looks a lot like my home” he said. Then he picked up a picture of Applejack, and she looked young. She was also with a slightly older looking red pony, and a very old green pony.
“That’s the Apple family, excluding Applebloom, she will be in the next family picture” said Applejack, walking over to him.
“Cool, is she here?” he asked. Applejack looked to a long staircase,
“She’s upstairs with her cousin and a friend” she said, yawning and then walking up the staircase.
“So, am I to sleep here?” asked Mordecai. Applejack just made a yup sound and exited the lower floor. “Well, Chris, although Twilight is supposed to be looking after you, I think we’ll get along just fine” he said.
“And for the record, I’m a girl” Chris said in a giggly voice.
“You can talk?!” he shouted. Chris nodded.
“In fact, I almost didn’t expect Twilight to trust me with a silly dragon” she said. Then she morphed into a taller looking changeling with a crown, “This…” she said and then pointed to her Chrysalis body, “Will be our little secret” she said. Then Applejack came downstairs.
“Chrysalis?!” shouted Applejack. She ran towards the door and the door locked.
“Sorry Applejack, for the wedding I mean” she said. Applejack started panicking and then looked Chrysalis in the eyes. “I didn’t want to take over Equestria, I just wanted to merge out species, but your pony friends got the wrong meaning” she finished.
“Queen Chrysalis, the most evil of beings, just said sorry to the element of honesty” she said, Applejack was confused. Then a knock on the door, and Twilight and the others were outside,
“Applejack, let us in please, it’s urgent” she said. Chrysalis unlocked the door, and the inevitable came. “Chrysalis?” said Twilight and then she put a spell around Chrysalis, who looked at the floor and sighed,
“I… I’m sorry Twilight” she said.
“This is clearly a trap” said a rainbow coloured pony.
“It’s not a trap, I just… I wanted to be forgiven, but I don’t deserve to be forgiven” she said, almost crying.
“Are you… crying?” said Twilight.
“Yes, for you see, in the past, changelings have reproduced by themselves, cloning. But about a week ago, real changelings were born , and I need help” she said.
“But your evil” said Fluttershy.
“You couldn’t handle my position!” she shouted at her. “Sorry, Fluttershy. But if you were Queen, and all your children were suffering from lack of food, what would you do?” she asked. Fluttershy simply made a scared noise and said “Sorry”.
“So, what do we do with her?” asked Applejack.
“Oh, I have an idea” said Mordecai. “Why don’t we let them merge with ponies?” he said. “Surely it can’t be that bad, if you just loved them like I do—“, he said.
“Why do you love changelings?” asked the blue pony again.
“Because I read this note, and I know how much pain they’re in because I used to feed off emotion” said Mordecai.
“You used to what?” said the queen.
“Around twenty four years ago, you tried the same thing, my mom told me about it when I was little. A dragon and a changeling fell in love a long time ago, and since then there have been Dinorex, like me. Then changelings grew to be… evil, if you don’t mind. Since then, Dinorex have been decreasing in number, some were killed in war, and I am the last of the Dinorex. My name is Mordecai, and I believe there is more to life than suffering” he said, now stood on the table.
“Wow, he’s a speech master” said a pink pony, cheerily.
“Chrysalis, I’m taking you to see Celestia” said Twilight. Chrysalis looked at her,
“So she can banish me? So she can let my children starve to death? So our race is wiped out because no-one would help us?” she gritted through her teeth.
“No, so I can get this merging thing sorted out” she said, looking calmer, “I want this to work as much as Mordecai or anyone else. But for tonight, everypony go home, Applejack, I’m going to stay here tonight, as much as I don’t want too, just in case” she said.
Everypony went home. “Well, chrysalis, you’d better not have set a trap, because we can easily take you down again” said Twilight.
“I know” she said. Applejack and Mordecai had gone to sleep.
“Your new friend Mordecai is quite passionate” she said.
“And until Celestia allows it, you are not to feed from anypony” said Twilight.
“Alright” said Chrysalis. Then she turned back into a cute looking changeling and drifted to sleep. As soon did Twilight. Just a few metres away, Mordecai kept dreaming about Chris and ‘So cute’.
