The Legend of Solar Flare and Nightmare Moon
Chapter 2: The Story Part 1
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Ahem," Nightmare's voice boomed, and echoed from the position of the walls, bouncing into everyponies ears. "Now, I will begin my story about that damned barren wasteland we call a moon," She spoke as she dropped two sugar cubes into her tea, then were spun violently in a storm of the metallic spoon.
Nightmare had just lost the fight with Celestia and Luna. She opened her eyes. There were only one companion for that thousand year imprisonment: the rocks. Nightmare found herself counting the days until she left. She studied the stars while upon the barren land. She would vocalize when she saw Canterlot, screaming for help. She could see the fight of Solar Flare and the Princesses. Volcanoes were erupting. Sometimes she would be over the Wastelands, then over the less than modern Equestria. "Help!" Nightmare would scream in her beautiful voice. Once Flare was banished, they could speak. Yet they rarely spoke. Only to talk about the rulers. If they got in a fight, Nightmare would force the moon over the sun, causing an eclipse. She would talk to Luna when she got lonely, the only other moon figure to communicate with. After some centuries, she started to be angered. She would scream at the princesses and their precious ponies, invading their dreams, scaring the little ponies. She would move the stars with Luna in an effort to escape. Nightmare thought about her purpose, and her reason for banishment. Soon she realized, I deserve to be up here, all alone. She stopped screaming at the princesses. She stopped talking to Flare. She slept only duing the sun's rain on the planet, then got up and moved the constellations she worked on with her heart and soul into place. Moving the moon along with them caused greater stress. Soon she had to reach to Luna for help on moving them, but said 'No,' to moving her hard worked on constellations.
'I have worked my hooves to the bone to make these stars, to put them in place. To make them create beautiful pictures in fillies and colts' heads!' She would say with anger to Luna.
But one night, no constellations appeared. The moongazing ponies would ask Luna why they hadn't come out. She would always say the same thing: 'I-I don't know,' One night they were gone, she called to Nightmare Moon.
'Why, sister? Why? Why are the beautiful stars in not their places, but not even in the night's air?!' Luna would beg, crying for them to be back for the civilians.
'Soon, Luna, soon,' Nightmare would speak soothingly.
After weeks of no stars, she finally made them emerge. But they were different. There- there were more. And different colors too! Violets, magentas, blues, greens, reds, all colors! But this took a toll on our sweet Nightmare. She used to speak in a harmonic voice, bringing the night air. But now, now, her voice sounded of broken glass. The beauty stripped away. Luna, after talking with Celestia, had used a spell to give away power. Luna heaved great power off and saved Nightmare from the brink of death. But Luna was bedridden. Nightmare felt bad. She took the stars away again, and after two centuries of Nightmare Night's power, returned it to Luna. She was better, then looked to the stars as Nightmare instructed. She eyes went wide and teary, Celestia by her side, wiping them away with a yellowed magic supporting the towel, and a white cream wing over her back.
Nightmare smiled and looked at her creations. The stars spelled out something wonderful: Celestia, Luna, forgive me. The sisters spoke together in harmony: We forgive you, Nightmare Moon.
