As I woke up on the couch I began to recollect the memories of the night before.
“A dream. That’s what it was, a dream.” I said to myself. I looked around and no one was in here except for me.
“Definitely a dream” I said to myself. I got up and looked at the clock. Ten o’clock. Thank goodness it was Saturday or I would have gotten an earful from the boss. I got up and headed towards the shower. As I walked in I noticed the shower was already on, and occupied. By a girl with rainbow hair and cyan wings. Who had turned around and noticed me starring and was now flying through the air aiming a kick straight for my face. Which made full contact, and sent me into the back wall.
“What the hell do you think you are doing, coming in while I am in the shower!?” she screamed at me in rage.
“I don’t know maybe because it is my house and I thought you were just a dream?! Although now I’m starting to think I’m in some sort of horrible nightmare!!” I retaliated, bleeding from a possible broken nose.
She scoffed and put on a towel. “Sorry buddy this isn’t a dream, even though I kinda wish it was. Then I wouldn’t be stuck here with your scrawny ass.” I looked up in a mix between anger and regret. I stood up and popped my nose back into place “agh” was all I managed.
“You done in the shower? I kinda need to wash the blood off myself from that flying kick you sent into my face.” She cringed in hurt at that last part, but I didn’t care she deserved it; but that thought soon went away after I saw the redness in her face and hearing two words I knew she wasn’t accustomed to.
“I’m sorry” she said looking at the floor trying to cover her guilt. I was shocked; she hardly ever apologized in the show so I knew it was sincere. I walked over to her and lifted her chin to look me in the eyes.
“Hey don’t worry about it I should have knocked.” I said and then walked into the bathroom and began my own shower. Now that I knew this wasn’t a dream questions started popping up in my head left and right. The main ones being, why were they here and what did they want with me? I finished my shower and put on some boxers and walked out into my kitchen.
“You seriously are going to walk out here in just boxers?” I looked over and saw Rachel sitting on my couch with a box of pizza already half gone.
“How did you get that pizza? Do you even have any money?”
“Of course not, but you do. I used your debit card.”
“Yeah you’re definitely rainbow dash.”
“No shit Sherlock, what gave it away? The rainbow hair? The eyes maybe? Oh I know! It Had to be the wings!”
“Actually it was the smartass attitude.” Said with a proud smirk on my face. Then a thought occurred to me. “Hey where are the others? I haven’t seen them around anywhere.”
“They took off yesterday after you passed out I had to stay here and make sure you came too eventually”
“Why you?”
“Why does it matter?” she remarked sarcastically. Come to think of it, why did I care?
“Cause it could have been anyone of you guys. Why did you decide to stay?” Her eyes shot open in shock at my answer.
“he..Hey don’t get confused I just lost a game of rock paper scissors! It wasn't my choice to stay here!!” she answered; but I could tell that wasn't quite it from the blushes on her face.
“OK, now what’s the truth?” I said with a devious grin on my face. She got mad believing I was taunting her, which I kind of was but that’s beside the point
“Fine! You want to know why!? It’s because you’re supposed to save this stupid world and I’m supposed to show you how to do it!!” she answered furiously.
“hahah yeah sure, and then Princess Celestia is going to start talking to me in my head!”
“Actually I’ve been here the whole time” said a calm yet powerful voice.
“Huh? Who said that?” I looked around for the disembodied voice
“A lot is about to happen Salem and you need to be ready for it when the time comes.” Great that’s what I wanted to hear. Rachel and Spike were not kidding when they said I have to save the world.
“You need to be ready when evil strikes in this world. The time has come for you to understand who you are truly meant to be. Do not worry your trainer is fully qualified and you should be ready in a matter of a few short days; until then I leave you in capable hooves, or uh hands in this matter. Farewell.”
“How am I supposed to save the world by myself?” I asked out loud hoping for an answer from either Rachel or the disembodied princess.
“Well,” Rachel started off “Like I said I’m going to train you.” I was shocked to say the least. I had been in plenty of fights before and had shared knowledge of my own, but never had I thought I would be saving the world with someone I thought to be fictional.
“And how, might I ask, are you going to do that?” I asked with a curious look on my face.
“Well first I’m going to show you how to use that ring on your finger” she stated as a matter of factly as she held up her right hand revealing a ring of her own. Except hers’ had a red lightning bolt on it. Suddenly there was a flash and she was holding two swords. One pure white from the bottom of the hilt to the tip of the blade, whiter than snow and looked like it was made more for decoration with the way the hilt was designed. The other was blacker than any night I've ever seen, but the cutting edge of the blade was blood red and made me cringe at how evil it looked. It looked like it had already gone through war.
“These are the spirit weapons that come out of your element marking. Only you can call yours out so it’s my job to show you how.”
“So how do we start?”
She looked at me with a grin that would only be described as evil.
“I’m so glad you asked, dear Salem!” she stated as she lifted the blades in an offensive stance.
“We force them out by putting your life in danger!!” and at that moment I realized…. I may not live to see the next day. I prayed that she would at least take it easy on me until I got used to it. That prayer quickly disappeared as she swung for my head.
