Fighting off the Dead
Theater
Previous ChapterThe group appeared at an abandoned German theater, littered with Nazi Flags. As the group finally came to their senses, Twilight advised they get moving as soon as possible, for she was sure there were more undead there. Before they left the room they appeared in, Richtofen noticed chalk lettering that spelled out "Beware of the Six".
"There are six of you, is this sentence trying to reveal something about you and your friends?" Richtofen said.
"If we wanted to harm you, we wouldn't have helped you back at the swamp." Twilight snapped back.
"True enough... for now." Richtofen murmured.
Twilight just shook her head and look at the three doors in the room. One seemed sealed from the inside, the other two could be opened easily with her magic. Twilight decided they would take the upstairs route and opened that door. What she saw inside was a board with unlit lights on it, and four pictures of her allies and one with a silhouette of a man.
"Who's this?" Applejack asked when she saw the shadowy figure in the picture.
"I don't know, but it doesn't matter right now. We need to keep moving." Twilight said.
Richtofen walked by the posters. "NEIN! These are relics that need to be destroyed!"
"Why would you say that, Richtofen?" Twilight questioned.
"These relics were not fit for your eyes my equestrian friend, they must be burned!"
"Go ahead and burn them, but I'm not gonna watch them burn to ashes, neither are my friends." Rainbow said.
"No, no, no, that could be my best picture!" Nikolai shouted.
Twilight decided to open the next door and the next, until they came to a switch. A switch that looked similar to the one in the asylum. She decided to pull the switch and the entire theater radiated with life and activity afterwords. With that life, came another hoard of zombies. Richtofen seemed to be creeping towards the device that looked like another teleporter pod when a zombie ran up behind him.
"Richtofen, behind you!" Twilight screamed.
Richtofen swiftly turned and stabbed the zombie with a machete, then continued his run towards the teleporter. Applejack and Takeo defended him whist he cut and rearranged a number of wires. After Richtofen had properly coordinated the wires, the zombies suddenly stopped coming. Twilight went looking for more radios in this abandoned theater. She found one hanging from a chandelier in the main room of the theater.
"The timeline for deployment can be accelerated. Given the progress we have made in the past two weeks, if patient two-six can retain the impressions longer than twenty-six hours, we will have the process perfected." Static was heard after that.
Twilight had the impression that they were trying to brain-wash the undead to make them into a kind of "super-solider". An immortal, infinite army.
She found another radio in an alleyway.
A sigh is heard. "Another setback. Patient two-six was killed this morning in a field test. He lost control and attacked one of our handlers. His injuries were minor but patient two-six was destroyed. The break in programming coincided with the flashing lights and loud noises of the fire alarm in the test facility." A knock is heard. "One moment!" The knocking repeated. "What is it?" Static was once again heard.
Their most successful subject lost control and was killed, the same thing happened at the Facility.
Twilight couldn't find any more radios, which meant her search for information here was over. Until Rarity found something useful among a pile of raggedy dresses; a film reel.
"Now we need to find a projector." Twilight said.
"Leave that to me, I am shtill looking for information on what Maxis was doing here and I know where a projector is." Richtofen said.
Richtofen lead the entire group to the teleporter and teleported them to the projector control room. Rarity then put in her flim reel.
"The test subjects have been undergoing treatment for five days with very little progress. I have been assured that, given time, the programming will take hold." Static.
"He was experimenting without his best scientist, what a fatal mistake." Richtofen mocked.
"Let's keep looking for more film reels." Twilight ordered.
The rest of the film reels were all in cases in the room they were in, so one at a time they inserted their reels in.
"In the past weeks, we have made great strides in breaking through to their subconscious. I have had the projectionists make edits to the few. These changes have been very effective." Followed by, "Subject two-six has had a breakthrough, he is responding to the treatment and following basic instructions, the violent outbursts have been greatly reduced, and given time, we feel this method of treatment will be 100 percent effective in most cases."
No one said a word, and Richtofen agreed to leaving the theater so they could move on to better and more information about what happened. He teleported them back with a controller and then sent them to a small platform in Siberia.
"Today, my friends, we take flight."
