On the night I met you

Chapter 3

The stars were out, the moon shone down with a beautiful midnight glow. Ponies were out after dark, having romantic meals with their loved ones, celebrating anniversaries or just treating them to a night out, while Scion and Tornado just spend the night out. They were planning to have dinner and then go for a nice, relaxing flight somewhere quiet.

“So where are we heading?” Scion asked curiously as they both roamed through the streets of Ponyville. He seemed to be a little distracted by the lights that were on at night and the beautiful glow of the stars above them.

“A good friend of mine opened up a restaurant not too long ago.” Tornado said, happily trotting. Many ponies roamed the streets of the night.

“Sounds nice, I’m sure it’s a great place, have you been there before?” Scion asked with a soft but interested tone to his voice.

“I have actually, once though.” Tornado let out a short sigh, “I promised to go back a few weeks back, but I never turned up.” They arrived at a rather large restaurant for Ponyville. The title of the restaurant was, ‘Premier Dine’ obviously wanting it to sound as fancy as it looks. Tornado opened the door and walked in, soft piano music was being played by a pony on the stage. The pony sat at the piano playing some good pony classics.

“This place looks so fancy.” Scion commented, looking around the restaurant.

“Yeah, it surely is a nice place.” Tornado smiled warmly and chuckled a bit. “Come on, let’s get out table.” Tornado trotted over to one of the ponies, asking for a table. The well-mannered pony guided them to their table and sat them both down, passing them both a menu. The pony walked away.

“Well, that was nice wasn’t it?” Scion said, opening his menu. Scion’s eyes began to drift down onto the menu, looking at all the different courses to have.

“They have nice food here; it’s really worth the expensive price.” Tornado gazed at the menu, taking a good look at it.

“A daisy sandwich is worth twenty bits?” Scion sounded a bit unsure with some of the prices.

“Yep, this restaurant makes them in a totally unique way.” Tornado chuckled, “that’s why I’m having one.” Tornado closed his menu and placed it on the table.

“Well I better see what they’re like here.” Scion chuckled, closed his menu and placed it on the table. A wait shortly comes by their table, speaking in a Canterlot voice.

“Evening my fine Gentle colts.” He said, pulling out a quill and notepad with his magic. “What would you like to eat?”

“We’ll both have a daisy sandwich, thanks.” Tornado requested, looking up at the pony.

“Would you like a small, medium or large?” The pony asked, keeping his muzzle in the air.

“I’ll have a medium.” Scion looked at Tornado, keeping his face straight.

“Make that two mediums.” Tornado said, nodding at the pony.

“Right, two medium daisy sandwiches. Anything else?” The pony kept his muzzle in the air, preparing to tear the page from the notepad.

“No we’re fine thank you.” Tornado and Scion both said in perfect sync, they then looked at each other.

The pony chuckled in his Canterlot accent, tearing the page from the notepad. “Okay thank you.” The pony walked off into the kitchen.

“I was going to say it!” Tornado chuckled softly, looking at Scion.

“No, I was!” Scion instantly responded. A few seconds of silence between them, the piano and the sound of ponies talking quietly was the only noise, they then both burst into a soft laughter.

“Look at us; we’re the perfect friends aren’t we?” Tornado spoke, calming his laughter.

“I can agree there.” Scion wipes a tear of laughter from his eye and calms down. Their food arrives at their table and the same pony that asked for their orders was standing at the table.

“Two medium, daisy sandwiches for you both.” The pony spoke. “That’ll be forty bits.”

“We pay now?” Tornado said, looking a bit shocked.

“Of course, the owner changed restaurant policy to ‘pay now, eat now’ which sounds terribly ridiculous but he insisted it would be better if customers paid first.” The pony kept his muzzle in the air, waiting for us to pay him.

Tornado pulled out forty bits from his small saddle bag and gave it the pony. “There you go.”

“Thank you kind sir, enjoy your meals.” The pony walked away to serve more customers. Scion and Tornado began eating their meals.

“Mm!” Scion’s taste buds tingled by the unique taste of the daisy sandwich, “it tastes different than all the other’s I have had.” He took larger bites into it, wanting to fight the hunger he had.

Tornado mumbled to himself, “adorable.”

“What was that?” Scion said while he continued to eat.

“Oh, nothing.” Tornado ate his daisy sandwich, embracing each bite he took. Tornado finished his daisy sandwich shortly after Scion.

“That was delicious.” Scion smiled warmly at Tornado, “we have to come here again.”

“Indeed we should, my friend runs this place.” Tornado sighed, “I would have introduced him to you but, he probably is busy.” Tornado then smiled at Scion. “Are we ready to go?” He asked softly. Scion nodded and the two stallions left the restaurant.

“So, what are we doing now?” Scion asked curiously.

“I think we should go for a fly, just you, me and the moon.” Tornado smiled.

Scion let out a light giggle, “oh silly, the moon isn’t alive.”

“I know but, you get what I mean.” Tornado chuckled and began flying upwards, starting to leave Ponyville. Scion followed closely behind him.

“So where are we heading?” Scion called from behind.

“Oh you’ll see.” Tornado smirked as he flew towards the gleaming moon. They reached a quiet field just outside Ponyville.

“Wow, it’s beautiful here.” Scion was amazed by the sight. The fields were peaceful and empty. Very few clouds were in the sky and the moonlight made the fields glow the most beautiful midnight blue.

“I know, I used to always come here as a young colt, look over there.” Tornado pointed to Cloudsdale which was just on the other side of the field. “My father and I used to come down here every night if I ever had a nightmare, I still suffer from those dreams but I never seem to come here.” Tornado began to fly around. “Come on, let’s do some flying!” Tornado grabbed Scion by the hoof and flew really fast evading the clouds. Scion was surprised and even terrified, but then that fear turned into joy and laughter. The laughter of the two Pegasi was heard as they looped over clouds and even burst through them.

“Woo, Tornado this is so fun!” Scion’s voice echoed through the night. “Tornado, let go!”

“What?!” Tornado couldn’t hear over the wind rushing past his ears.

“I said let go!” Scion prepared his wings as they were doing a large helix round a cloud.

“You got it!” Tornado smirked and let go, sending Scion propelling forward making him leave a cyan streak, the same colour as his coat. Tornado saw a little cyan spec in the distance slow down.

“That was awesome!” Scion’s voice boomed and he came flying back to Tornado slowly.

Tornado just hovered and laughed with joy. “I know, come on try going faster!” Tornado said trying to encourage Scion.

Scion put all of his strength into his flying and he managed to fly faster to Tornado, hugging him as they made contact. “Thank you Torny.”

Tornado patted his back, “no problem Scion.” They hovered above the fields in the hug. “Anything for my best friend.” They both turned their heads to look up at the moon. The moon sparkled off of their eyes. “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” Tornado smiles warmly, “the moon, always makes me feel like if I’m at peace, no more wars, no more fear,” he looked up directly at the moon, “just, peace.”

“I know that feeling; I just never found proper interest in the moon.” Scion looked down a little, “just books, reading made me feel happy and safe.”

“I do like a good book, I mean who doesn’t?” Tornado responded with a soft tone to his voice.

“Ponies who don’t like books?” Scion chuckled softly.

“Apart from them.” Tornado snorts and chuckles. “We better get home, you maybe want to stay a night at mine?” Tornado blushes a little as he asked Scion the question.

“I would love to.” Scion had a tone of joy in his voice.

“That’s great!” Tornado smiled widely. “A-And I have a double bed, so we can sleep in that.” Tornado blushes a little darker.

Scion also blushed, but with a small glow coming off of his cheeks. “Sounds great.” They slowly flew back together down to Ponyville. When they arrived at Tornado’s house, Tornado opened the door and made his way in with Scion.

They both made their way upstairs and into Tornado’s room. Tornado’s room had a double bed and a room for the bathroom opposite it. On the right hand side of the bed was a door to the balcony and the moon’s light shone brightly into the room. “Well here we are.”

“Thanks for letting me come round Torny, it means a lot.” Scion climbed into the left hand side of the bed, on the side furthest away from the balcony. Tornado got in next to him and snuggled up to him.

“It’s my pleasure.” He nuzzled Scion gently, “goodnight Scion.” Tornado slowly closed his eyes.

“Goodnight Torny.” Scion shortly after fell asleep. Tornado was in bed, with Scion’s head on his chest. Their friendship is the most important thing to both of them, if they lost each other they would be lost forever in sadness. Their friendship is about to change.
