"Miss. Cherry Blossom?" The young human boy said to the pink pastel colored unicorn mare.

"Oh, hello their Cain, happy hearts and hooves day." The school mare flipped her light blue mane away from her face as she smiled down at the young boy in front of her.

It was early morning at sunny fields elementary school, fillies and colts were making their way to their class rooms saddle bags full to the brim with cards, candies, and chocolates, all for the holiday known throughout Equestria as Hearts and Hooves day.

Every year the young ponies would get together and exchange cards and sweets among each other to solidify the spirit of friendship and love.
But every year their was one among the little ponies that never got to experience the joys of friendship or love.

But this Hearts and Hooves day was going to be different, today he was going to ask the pony that he loved to be his special somepony.

"Uh, yeah, same to you Miss. Blossom, I wanted to ask you something." The young boy said.

He looked away from the beautiful mare as he gripped the red heart shaped card behind his back.

Finally the day was over, it had gone just like the year before and the year before that with the only difference being the little ponies of his class whispering and laughing about his earlier love confession.

"Good ponies of ponyville, my name is Winnifred, secretary of historic research at the university of Canterlot, and I must warn you all!"

Every pony in the square was now looking to the gray mare who now held news of some danger to them.

And things were going so well.

I have to get these two out of here for two reasons, one, before this crowd gets violent and they get mixed up in it or get hurt (over my dead rotting corps they would).
And two, because I can't stand to have two of the only ponies I've ever loved in this world seeing this kind of thing. I warned Rainbow about this, I didn't want her to be seen as the pony who makes friends with a "Monster". Just then a small hoof tapped me on the shoulder.

"Cain, whats she talking about, she isn't talking about you, is she?"

I gave the little filly a light tap on her head to set her at ease.

"Don't worry scoot scoot, that mare has had one too many hard ciders. I mean listen to her she's calling me a snake a monster and a wolf. Do I look like any of those things?"

Scootaloo let out an amused giggle before giving me a little squeeze.

"Of course not, she's crazy, and please Cain, don't call me "scoot scoot" its embarrassing."

Its nice that I could turn a bad situation into an opportunity to teach a young filly an important life lesson. Now to get Rainbow and get away from that troll of a mare.
I turned to where Rainbow stood but as soon as I did I was hit with a wave of the most intense anger, and rage.

It almost emanated off of her and I feared to see what black fire was swirling in her eyes as she bore a hole through the old mare with her glare.
As I lent down to tap her shoulder a low and angry growl came from the gentle mare that I loved,

Before I could intervene Rainbow lept at the old mare like a thunder bolt, pinning her to the ground and drawing gasps from several onlookers. She huffed with rage as the stunned mare tried to process what had just happened.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!"

All went silent, except Rainbow.

"WHAT DID YOU CALL HIM?!"

"I, uh…." was her reply.

"MONSTER?!"

"No, I…"

"SERPENT?!"

"I meant.."

"LIAR?!"

"Please, I.."

"YOU DONT KNOW HIM!"

"Somepony, help!" she called out.

"YOU…..DONT……KNOW…….HIM!"

Rainbow brought a hoof up so that she could hit the now terrified mare beneath her, as she brought it down toward her target she was stopped by a hand that was wrapped around her hoof. I threw my other arm around her waist to drag her off the mare.

I had to set Scootaloo on the ground quickly before I barley stopped Rainbow from bashing the old mare in the snout.

Rainbow flailed and kicked in my arms as I dragged her off if only a inch.

"Let go of me Cain!" Rainbow bellowed at me as I held on to her with all my might.

"Rainbow calm down." I whispered to her trying to not let Scootaloo see or hear any more than she had already

"I said let me go!"

I felt her weaken a bit in my grasp.

"Rainbow, your scaring Scootaloo."

Like a switch had been flipped Rainbow stopped fighting and went limp in my arms. The old mare took the opportunity to slip out from under the pegasus pony that had put her their and gallop off.

Bullies are most often cowards I learned.

Me and Rainbow both looked back to see a little filly sitting only a few feet away, her mouth was open slightly and her eyes threatened to overflow with tears at any moment but what stabbed both our hearts deep………..was that she was trembling with fear.

Rainbow made the first move as she slowly approached the filly as not to stratal her. It must have been a shock to see the pony she looked up to the most so overcome with anger like that, I should have gotten them out of hear sooner…….it was my fault.

Rainbow took Scootaloo into a gentle hug as they both started to sob.

"Rainbow Dash, please don't change like that gain." She pleaded into Rainbows coat.

Rainbow fought to keep herself from balling any harder

"I won't, I promos, and I'm so sorry you had to see me like that, Im just, so sorry." They both continued for a couple minutes after that, everypony needs a good cry every now and then regardless to how tough they seem.

Twas then that I cut in.

"Pardon me ladies but I recall something about ice-cream and a race, shall we continue?" After a few tear whippings and a nose blowing, the three of us were back in position for our long over due race, Scootaloo back in her pilots chair (A.K.A my back).
