Chapter 13

Gotta Go Fast

The two princesses took in the being that now stood in front of them. It was taller than them, but nowhere near as massive as King Ghidorah. It was covered in crimson scales, and had bright, yellow eyes. Its face was tipped with a toothed beak, and it had twin crests on the back of its head. Its forelimbs were large, leathery wings, suspended by a single long finger. Its lower legs were shorter in comparison, and tipped with eagle-like talons.

It looked at the princesses, and spoke in a male voice. "Well? Aren't you gonna answer me, or are ya just stupid?" he asked.

Celestia shook her head, clearing her thoughts. "I'm sorry, we were just taking you in. Welcom, kaiju. I am Princess Celestia, and this is my sister, Princess Luna,"

Luna smiled.

"And you are?"

The shrunken kaiju grinned arrogantly. "Why, I'm Rodan! Fastest flyer in the galaxy!"

Ghidorah groaned, annoyed by the arrival of his nemesis' ally. That's when Rodan noticed Ghidorah, squawking in shock. "Ghidorah!" he shouted, before tackling the dragon. King Ghidorah was taken off guard, and fell flat on his tails. The dragon let out a roar of surprise, as Biollante appeared. "Rodan? You're here too?"

Rodan looked up from the beating he was about to give Ghidorah. "Biollante? Is that you? Well, you're not as ugly as before, I'll give you that..." Before Rodan could chide further, Ghidorah shoved him away. Rodan landed on his feet back where he had landed.

"Please, no fighting!" Celestia said. "I realize Ghidorah may not have the best track record with you, but we are all friends here,"

"And where exactly is here, Princess?"

"You are in Equestria. As far as we have been able to determine, we are in a dimension parallel to your own. For whatever reason, the two dimensions have been crossing, resulting in kaiju coming here. The first was Ghidorah. But you needn't worry about him, for we have his powers taken away. And yours, as well, if you do not prove yourself worthy,"

"Worthy? And how do you expect me to do that?"

"You must realize that the process of stealing powers is a difficult one, even for alicorns such as us," Luna said. "Therefore, we cannot steal the powers of every kaiju that leaks in. To deal with them, we need you to fight for us and defend our subjects. Ghidorah has already entered this agreement, as has Biollante,"

Rodan gave Ghidorah a disbelieving look. "You? Protecting anything?" A massive grin spread across his toothed beak, and the pterosaur kaiju began to laugh uncontrollably. He fell over, rolling on the floor. Celestia just watched awkwardly, as Ghidorah got back up, grumbling. "It's not like I have a choice...." he muttered.

Rodan continued laughing, as he got back up and began to hover. This caused Ghidorah quite a bit of anguish. "How come he can still fly, and I can't? I thought you took his powers!"

Celestia nodded. "I did. But I cannot take away his natural abilities, of which flight must obviously be one. I've been meaning to ask you, anyway, why you couldn't fly yourself?"

If Ghidorah could blush, it is possible he would have then and there. But Rodan opened his annoying beak before the dragon could react. "Can't fly? Well duh! Just look at'im! There's no way that fat lunk of evil can get into the air by himself!"

Celestia didn't know how to respond, although Luna (poorly) supressed a giggle. "Ghidorah, is this true? Can you not fly by your own power?"

Ghidorah shuffled, feeling almost embarassed. "Well...not technically,"

Rodan continued his obnoxious laughter. "You mean not at all!"

Ghidorah grumbled. "It is true that I cannot technically fly by my own power. Not here, anyway. Your planet's gravity is too strong for me to do that. Had we been on Mars, for example this would not be a problem. It usually isn't - after all, I have enough control over gravity to allow me flight in such conditions, anyway. But since somebody took my powers, that isn't possible right now,"

Celestia ignored his sarcasm, returning her attention to Rodan. "Well, Rodan, with that aside, do you agree to my terms?"

Rodan ignored her, instead flying towards the throne. "What a nest!" he said aloud to himself, before perching on top of it. Rodan kicked back, allowing himself to reach optimum comfort levels. "I could get used to this!"

Luna and Celestia both stood amazed at the pterosaur's audacity. Biollante facehoofed, a gesture she had learned from a few guards. Ghidorah chuckled, happy to see that he wasn't the only one being mocked today.

"Uh, Rodan?" Biollante said.

"Yeah?"

"That's the royal throne you're sitting on,"

Rodan looked down at himself, and simply said, "Huh," before flying off.

"So, will you take my offer?" Celestia asked again. Although her face didn't show it, Luna could see that the kaiju was getting on her nerves. Rodan looked at the sisters, then at Biollante, then hatefully at King Ghidorah(who returned the glare). Finally, he took Celestia's outstretched hoof in one claw, and grinned widely.

"Princess, you've got yourself a deal!"
