The gears of equestria!

Both the chairman and Twilight were sitting close together, Twilight blushing and the chairman and her were laughing and agreeing on many plans. "My my chairman! isn't this something!" the chairman scooted away from Twilight. "What do you want" he asked. "Hey hey, it's okay chairman, I wont tell" I said, chuckling. I looked around "wheres Pinkie?" I asked, I didn't remember seeing her when we first visited. The chairman shrugged "I think I saw her on the battlefield" he said. "We need to get her now!" I screamed, and ran out of the tent, Applejack and Rarity following closely, Twilight staying behind to help the chairman with more 'plans' but I didn't believe that at all, but we had a bigger task, I stared out and saw her pink little body running on the battlefield.

I ran as fast as I could and got closer to Pinkie "Pinkie Pie what are you doing!" I shouted, but she didn't hear me. She charged a grub with the lancer chainsaw revved and tackled it, doing down in  a bloody spray, and she stood and ran toward me. "Pinkie what are you doing!" I said "you could get killed out here" a frag landed nearby, and i tackled the three ponies, surrounding them with my body as a meat shield. It exploded, my hearing was now a lout ringing and I was sent flying with the three ponies in my arms. Everything went black. I thought I was dead. I couldn't hear, my body was limp, my sense of feeling was gone. Yet a miracle happened, I awoke with blurred vision and a pink blob shouting my name. "He's waking up!" it shouted a yellow thing came into my blurred vision and began asking me questions, my eyesight adjusted and everything became clear.

My body was in intense pain as my senses came to. "gah!" I shouted, as Fluttershy removed some shrapnel from my arm "careful!" I shouted, my body hurt all over. "I'm sorry" gasped Fluttershy, not wanting to cause me more pain that what already had "it-it's f-fine Fluttershy" I said "just please be careful" i said in a pained tone, I realized my armor was on a table next to me, and I was in ragged, torn clothes. I tried to sit up, and there was much pain in my chest and i coughed up some blood. Rarity gently lay me back down as the coughing subsided, I looked down at my torn up body, i definitely had a few broken ribs. "Please stay still" said Rarity. I was bleeding all over. "just please, guys, I have a duty to attend to" I argued. "You're not going anywhere until you recover" said Rarity not wanting to see me come so close to death again. "Look" I said "I was gonna die.... why bother saving me?" I asked, I knew I would only weigh them down.

"You saved us" said Fluttershy why can;t we return the favor. I looked farther round the room, then saw Twilight and Applejack on my left, and Pinkie at the bottom of the bed. Rainbow Dash was finally back from scouting. Twilight attempted to hug me, only getting a pained grunt. "Sorry" she said "stop... apologizing" I said in agony, "I saved three living beings from a terrible death, it could be them in my position, there would be no reason to thank me then" I argued stubbornly. "But" said Pinkie, not wanting to forget what i'd done for her and her two other friends. "No buts" I said "just tell me what happened after I wrecked Rarity's beautiful armor" I said, staring at the scratched and banged armor, this made me more angry than my injuries, and then pain went through me as Fluttershy picked out more shrapnel from my body. "Agh!" I screamed. "Sor-" I put my hand on her mouth and shook my head "no words unless they're explaining the suffering I put you all through" I told her.

The explaining began with what Pinkie saw. "So.." she began "after we crashed into the ground REALLY hard" she said, exaggerating the word really. "I got up and saw you were bleeding all over!" she said, waving her forelegs over my body to signify it. "so I grabbed the gun was was using and began to help defend you while you were unconscious, and then one of those hole..... thingies opened up and bad guys started crawling out" she stated, obviously reaching the climax in the story. "They're grub holes, Pinkie" I corrected "Okay, grub holes, but anyways" she said, tossing my correction in the trash. "I was defending you while Fluttershy and Rarity picked up your body, then Dashie came up and-" "Dashie?" I interrupted "it's her nickname for me" stated Rainbow Dash "then Dashie came up and started helping!" shouted Pinkie ecstatically. "After that we all had helped carrying you, except for me, I was killing the bad meanies" said Pinkie.

I looked around for confirmation from them all. They all nodded one by one, except for Twilight and Applejack, who i'd assumed had come to thank me. "Okay" I said "but still, do NOT thank me, I knew that your lives" I said pointing at them all "are worth more than mine, you all have family and friends, I just...." I trailed off, looking sad now, but I rebounded "all i'm saying is you all need to stay alive." I stated "and I just don't think i'm worth more than you are" at that exact moment the chairman walked in. "Well, private, you certainly showed quite a bit of bravery" "sir, were you eavesdropping?" I asked. "Of course, if I were in here, you would only make yourself even more modest" he said "but, for your bravery, you will be being promoted." He said, with a smile on his face. "Chairman...." I said , but he held a hand up to silence me. "As soon as you recover you will receive a medal of honor and give a speech to your fellow gears." He said "that's an order" I stared thankfully at the chairman "thank you sir" I said, I mean it wasn't every day that chairman fucking Prescott walked in and ordered you to get promoted.

"Hey Rarity" I said "you think you can fix up my armor, so I can look good with all these scars i'm gonna have on my body?" "I... think I may be able to work out the bumps and scratches, then re-shine it." She agreed "so, now it;s my turn to thank you all" I said "I would hug you but, I may or may not bleed out" I said awkwardly, receiving a laugh from them all, I  smiled and looked at Rarity's armor, then frowned. "Rarity..... i'm so sorry about ruining the armor" I apologized, looking at the bangs and scratches all over the armor. "Darling" she replied "you used it so save lives, our lives, i'm happy to repair it for you, as long as it's put to good use." She said modestly. "I'm only wearing it on special occasions, you thik you can make me a silver set to wear normally?" I asked, she looked at me astonished. "You hold my armor in such high regard?" she asked. "Of course, but that's not the thing i'm worried about right now, can you make me some?" I asked in a serious tone "yes" she said, smiling and blushing. "Thank you" I said, i knew it was a long road to recovery, but I was ready to get over it as fast a possible, so I could help give them all a  special thanks during my speech.
