Chapter 13 - The Elder Scrolls

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Princess Celestia took the Elder Scrolls from my grasp with her magic, she looked over it, examining the entire scroll. She finally tore her eyes away from the beautiful object. "I sense a great magical aura around these scrolls, may I be allowed to open it and perhaps read it?" I felt relief wash over me, it would've been a real hassle if she opened without asking first (more like her eyes being melted into their sockets, her body being desinigrated, and a very shocked crowd.) I quickly explained, "Princess if you read the scrolls, without being in the proper place and the proper time," I cringed, "unknown things might happen, kinda like how I got sent here, but the thing I was expected was more gruesome, and not to mention very painful."

She nodded in acknowledgement and I took the scrolls back, this thing could be very potentially dangerous, but could save the lives of millions. It's amazing how something so small and insignificant can cause the greatest change. I looked up from the roll of papyrus to see Twilight cringing, I could've guessed that since she is Celestia's protege it would make sense for her to feel the worst about anything happening to her.

"I know exactly what we need to do," My raspy voice causing Fluttershy to wince, "I need to read these at the top of the summit, where I once heard Twilight said a dragon lived on, because there is no higher mountain, also," I looked over at Celestia," There is a path up the mountain to its peak, correct?" She nodded an affirmative. A thought hit my mind, things are escalating quite quickly, it's only been a week or two, and I'm already having to set out again to slay Alduin, nice to know I haven't lost my touch. I smiled inwardly at these thoughts.

Suddenly Luna spoke up, "How does thou expect to scale thy mountain alone?" I instantly felt silly for forgetting that I actually needed to climb the mountain. I answered, "I think I will be perfectly fine on my own, you doubt my powers obviously, "Luna snorted, "I don't want any of you to follow me, it would weigh on my conscious heavily, if one of you got hurt, even though I can heal, I have some extent to my abilities." They all nodded, (Man this is escalating quickly!) "See you all on the other side." With that I walked out the door Narsis in tow. I narrowed my eyes, "I thought I said I didn't want anyone to follow me?"

He gave me a defiant look, "I am coming with you whether you like it or not," He then repeated what I said, "it would weigh on my conscious heavily, if you got hurt, and you couldn't heal yourself." I face palmed inwardly, I gave a sigh of reluctance, what can I say? He was right, no reason to try and doubt it. "FFFFfffiiiinnnnneee, you can come, but make sure you don't die okay?" He chuckled at my childish manner, we began our trek onwards, I could see the mountain off in the distance, but first we had the Everfree to scale, before the mountain.

We slowly walked into the bramble thicket that bordered the tree line, our bodies slowly blending in with the foliage. The light almost instantly dimmed, ponds and small animals littered the ground and trees.

I didn't know what to think, they had just up and left, and what had Jiques meant by, 'see you on the other side.' when he left? Could it mean he was going to get hurt? Or worse, death? These thoughts kept on rambling in her mind, she sincerely felt worried for the lizard man for the first time since his coming...

The light turned from it's original yellow, to green as the plants reflected the light, and changed its color. We were quiet for a time, stray thoughts passed and lingered in my mind, 'will Odahviing be angry I up and left him?', 'the ponies are better off without you to intervene in their lives', 'what do I do once I reach the peak of the cliff?', and 'how is Narsis feeling?

These thoughts were interrupted by weird noises, they sounded, odd, wood sliding against wood, along with panting breath and growls. Blood rushed to my face as I realized we just stumbled upon a Timberwolf mating ground, Narsis was also looking bashful as he realized what we had walked into. Luckily they didn't spot us, a few of them had tree sap surrounding them, with long... I quickly looked away, and focused on using an invisibility spell on us both, it worked just in time as one of them got up and looked in our direction only to see nothing.

We walked together through the clearing trying to avoid the wooden wolves as much as possible, we soon found ourselves in the clear, and I took down the spells, Narsis took a sigh of relief and said, "Boy, that was close." I nodded, "Yup, we better get moving now." He looked up and followed me as we walked towards our destination. I was surprised, we hadn't been attacked yet, I would've expected to be swarmed in bears, tigers, bandits and vampires all at once. But not a single threat showed, I whispered, "Laas, yah, nir" I saw a few heartbeats, one of them red. Turns out it was just a fox, from what I could tell, we were about halfway through this god-forsaken forest.

We walked into another clearing, except, nothing was here, just some fauna, and other plants. We were about to walk into the trees again, when we were met by iceberg lettuce colored cat like eyes. It growled, and 5 more manticores walked out from the surrounding brush, I gave them a sadistic grin, I lowered my head, shadowing my eyes, and shouted, "Time for you to taste your first blood GoldBrand." I pulled out the gold sword, and rested its tip on the ground. I screamed, "MID, VUR, SHAAN!" Our weapons glowed a dull red, as I gave them extra attacking speed. I then shouted, "MUL, QAH DIIV!" I felt my energy drain, but than come back as my body was encased in a glowing light, I felt the katana become the weight of a feather, my cloak feeling like air. I charged, Narsis next to my side.

I brought my blade down upon the one that summoned its allies faster than what should of been possible. It's brains peeled out as my sword divided its brain by two. I torn around to see Narsis slaying another, only leaving four. I lunged at another, slicing it in the chest, and bringing the blade down upon its leg, then I twirled and did a downward slash upon its head, all the while it roared and tried to swipe, but I was so agile it couldn't land a single blow.

I heard a scream pierce the sounds of battle, Narsis got stung by the barbed tail. Anger enveloped me, changing the glowing armor from gold to blood red. "You hurt my friend, YOU DIE!" I screamed. I drove my blade deep inside the head of the manticore that pierced Narsis's chest, I brought the blade out and made the last manticore feel pain, I slashed its left leg off, then its right. I healed the wounds only to stem the blood loss, I lopped off its tail, and after a minute of it's torture I finally killed it, I brought my attention to a very sick looking Argonian, wait, Argonians are immune to disease, it was the poison (Man I can be dense sometimes), my hand went awash with a golden light, instantly healing Narsis, and his gaping hole in his belly.

His face cleared up of it's earlier sick features, I helped him up, and we continued our journey towards the mountain...

We finally reached the base of the mountain without incident, the trees had melted away to a beautiful landscape, shadowed by the large pile of rock and dirt in front of us. A path was made clear, by a sign pointing upwards. We started slowly, and began to speed up. I then heard the alto familiar roar of a dragon, causing Narsis to freeze in pure terror while I worked my mouth trying to think of a good thu'um and fast! One came to mind and I screamed, "Krii, Lun, Aus!" The purple wall hit the dragon straight on, by the looks of it, it was a simple blood dragon.

The dragon glowed purple, lines intersecting along its body, it gave a roar as it was marked for death. It hovered, and I whipped out my bow, notched a daedric arrow and fired, watching as it hit the dragon in the muzzle, it screamed fire at me, I blocked it just in time with a ward. It flew over for another pass, this time landing. I pulled out my katana, its pyridium orange glinted in the sunlight, I brought the sword down, only giving the dragon a nice long cut.

It roared and tried to snap at me, only to find I was behind it. I went dare devil mode, and jumped onto its spade-ish tail. It tried to get me off by whipping its tail, I rolled up onto its torso and ran my blade along its neck, finally reaching its head, I plunged it down, killing it. I felt my body gain the essence of the recently slain dragon. Narsis stared at me in shock, before we continued our journey up the mountain...

We were ready, we were finally ready to take down the Dragonborn, and make sure no more of his bloodline come back to haunt us, and slay our very beings. I looked over the assembled dragons, Alduin sitting beside me, giving his war battle speech, me just sitting there looking as pretty as always. I had realized I never chose a mate, I saw a few males staring at me in awe at my beauty. I batted my eyes, and continued standing, soon, we would charge into battle against the Dragonborn and his filthy equines he made as allies...
