It was was raining in Ponyville that day. Nopony wanted to go outside, nopony except Pinkie pie. A hooded pony was walking into the small quite town and pinkie notice. She was planning on throwing a party for him as she usually did for new ponys. Pinky excitedly ran up to him and shouted "Hi there! Your new in town I've never seen you before I'm so excited every time a new pony comes into town because I get to throw a welcome party for him my names pinkie pie! Whats yours!"
"Pinkie Pie?" he said in a deep raspy voice. "uh That's my name." she said "you know a mare named Twilight sparkle?" Pinkie Pie look at him confused "Um yes do you need to see her."
"lead me to her." He said in a demanding tone.
"Sure!" she said in a gleeful tone. The rain began to slow as the two ponies approached the library where Twilight lived. "She just through there!" She said happily. "Thanks" he said as he knocked on the door. A small purple dragon opened the door. "Uh yes can I help you?" " I'm here to see Twilight Sparkle" he said in a threatening tone. "Ok. TWILIGHT!" he shouted A lavender unicorn walked down the stairs "Yes spike what is it?" she said in a slightly annoyed tone.
"This guy wants to talk to you!" He then picked up a jewel and ate it as he walk away. "Um yes sir how may I help you." She said as she walk down the stairs.
"You have an item I am looking to acquire. " Oh really, what's that a book or something?"
"I have been looking for it for years just when I thought I found it, it was gone purchased by a unicorn you know. I tracked down the unicorn who didn't have it anymore and with a little persuasion she revealed to me the location of it. she had lost it, taken by you" "You don't mean" "Yes, the Alicorn Amulet"
" I'm sorry sir but I can't allow you to have that." Spike was now looking on with concern. "Oh I wasn't asking." He said with a chuckle as his eyes started to glow red and a horn was revealed glowing as well. His hood flew off revealing a dark black coat and black spiky mane. He had sadistic grin on his face as Applejack came threw the door. "Hey everypony I was passing by when I sa-" Right then he bucked Applejack against the wall "AHH! what in tarnation who is this rude pony!"
"I'm so sorry I have yet to introduce my self. My name is Dark Star now if you would be so kind GIVE ME THE AMULET"
"I don't have the amulet who even are you!" just as she said that she remembered wanted signs around Canterlot with his face and name written on it. "You're the thief and murderer being hunted by the royal guard aren't you!" Twilight exclaimed. "Well i guess my illustrious reputation precedes me" Dark Star said with a smug grin. Twilight flashed a look of fear and panic, thinking of all the crimes he committed. His eyes and horn started to glow again and Twilight thought quick, teleporting out of the library. Dark Star smiled "she is powerful for a common unicorn."
Twilight, Applejack and Spike ran to the nearest building witch happened to be sugar cube corner. "HI Twilig-" "Shhh" twilight said. "That pony you brought to me he is really dangerous. He is wanted by Celestia's royal guard and he wants the Alicorn Amulet." Twilight said with a whisper.
"Twilight! You can't hide from me! Fine We'll do this your way!" Right then under his cloak revealed two large wings. He flew up into the clouds. "He's an alicorn how is that possible!" Twilight thought as she stared in awe as Dark Star cleared all the clouds, stopping the rain. Rainbow Dash, resting on a cloud, looked down and saw Dark Star clearing the clouds."Hey whats the big idea we're trying to water the crops you're not supposed to clear them yet!" She said thinking that Dark Star was just another pegasus. He finished and flew down to city hall. Everypony came out of their homes wondering why the rain had stopped. "Attention citizens of Ponyville! My name is Dark Star! Until Twilight Sparkle gives me the item I have asked of her You all will be isolated from the rest of Equestria!" His horn started to glow as a large red force filed surrounded Ponyville. "Everyday Twilight does not give me the item you will not be provided food or water and I WILL KILL ONE FILLY! If you are a parent or sibling or a filly hope you are not one of the unlucky ones! You may try to resists You are welcome to challenge me and no spell will get through that barrier! These new laws will be enforced starting tomorrow! Thank you all for listening and have a nice day!" He said as he walked of the stage.
The entire crowd was starting to panic as Dark Star seemed to disappear. Mayor Mare was trying to calm everyone down "Everypony calm down! Has anyone seen Twilight!" She yelled as the crowds screaming came to a halt. Twilight and her three friends had exited the shop and joined the crowd "Why don't you just give him what he wants Twilight !" An anonymous pony yelled from the crowd
"I can't! It would be to dangerous, he's looking for the Alicorn Amulet!"
"The Alicorn Amulet! We can't let him have that! Remember all the damaged that Trixie caused imagine him with it." Rarity said in panic. "Speaking of the great and powerful Trixie." A voiced called out from behind the crowed. It was Dark Star who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. The sight of him caused the crowd to panic, everypony fleeing except for Twilight and her friends. "She held out for longer than I expected. Over an hour of "persuasion" before she gave in. You know I'm starting to wonder how long you can last Twilight?" He said with a grin.
"Oh my Celestia you tortured her didn't you!" Applejack yelled. He then shrugged still with a smile on his face. "You think I'm just gonna stand here and let terrorize my town!" Twilight said threateningly. " I did say you're welcome to challenge me" He said with a smile as he removed his cloak revealing a skull and crossbones as his cutie mark. Twilight's eyes started to glow a bright white and her horn a dark purple. All this wasn't worrying Dark Star as a be of magic flew from her horn hitting him. Dust flew up. As the dust settled it revealed a shield had formed around him. "Is that all you got" he said taunting her. Twilight was dumbfounded, she regained her composer and formed a shield around her and her friends. Dark Star smiled and the force field around him retracted back into his horn and turned into a beam of magic its self. It shattered Twilights shield effortlessly knocking her out. "You all bring her home I want her alive." he said as he walk away.
"Twilight! Twilight! wake up!" Dash said urgently. "What? what happened?" Twilight said as she woke up. "Oh yeah what happened "
"Well um he just sort of disappeared." Fluttershy said timidly. "do you know who he is sugar cube?" " All I know is that he is a criminal wanted by Celestias Royal gaurd. the last time we were in canterlot I noticed wanted posters with pictures of him on it. I don't know what he did but its clear he isn't playing around. We need to a plan to stop him."
"YEAH!" They all said agreeingly. "Ok so any Ideas!"
Meanwhile in Canterlot, celestia had noticed the massive shield around Ponyville. "Sister do you want us to investigate this?" Princess Luna asked."No we will both go tomorrow I have a feeling both of us will be needed for this" The very next day both Luna and Celestia were escorted down to Ponyville. "WHO EVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REVEAL YOURSELF TO US!" Luna said in the royal Canterlot voice. Dark Star appeared in front of them smiling. "I was wondering how long it would take for you to show up. And your sister two that's wonderful. Allow me to introduce my self My name is-" "Dark Star. Celestia told me about you" Luna interrupted. "Oh really did she tell you about all my exploits and all my adventures." He said with a grin on his face. "What are you doing in Ponyville?" Celestia ask with a look of anger in her eyes. "One of these ponies, Twilight I think her name was, has something I want. And I won't let them go until she gives them to me.
"You think I will let you get away with this!" Celestia screamed as her horn started to glow. She rose up and a beam of magic hit the shield. It did nothing."but that was my best shield breaker spell." Celestia said with a dumbfounded look on her face. "What you fail to realize is that this is one of the most perfect spells ever written. Not only does it cancel out any magic trying to move past it, it also absorbs any impact that hits it so essentially the more you try to break it the stronger it gets. Oh and I also forgot to mention that I can retract the shield and convert it into a magical blast of energy using the energy it absorbed. Nothing can break it." Celestia didn't know what to do. Luna could do nothing but stand by and watch along with the guards. "Now go but there is one more thing." Dark Star said as he revealed his large black wings. "You're an alicorn! That's not possible!" Celestia said. Dark star opened his eyes which were now glowing red and a mysterious black smoke was flowing out of them. "YOU COULDN'T STOP ME BEFORE AND YOU WONT STOP ME THIS TIME." His voice was different but oddly familiar to Celestia. She couldn't figure out why though.
"Twilight! Your time is up! Where is the Alicorn Amulet!'' Everypony was now watching as Twilight and her friends walked out, each of them whering their element of harmony. The smile on Dark Stars face fell. "Are you ready girls!" twilight shouted as they all lifted into the air. Dark Star started to panic as he saw the Cutie Mark Crusaders. He used his horn to grab Scootaloo. "Don't move or I will kill this filly!" He said as he put Scootaloo under his hoof. They all instantly stopped. Everypony was gasping and looking away. Dark Star was breathing heavily and shaking with an angry look on his face. " Just tell him that the Amulet is in the Everfree Forest with zeco-" Sweetie belle accidently blurted out just loud enough for him to here it. A moment of realization flashed on his face as he saw a small hut in the forest on his way to Ponyville. He then smiled and took off towards the forest. Twilight and her friends took off after him.
A large hole opened up on the barrier as dark star flew through it. Only Rainbow Dash was able to get through it before it closed. "Get it Rainbow Dash!" Twilight yelled at dash as she chased him. He looked back with anger in his eyes. Rainbow dash was now smiling. "If there's one thing you can't do its outrun me" Dash said as she sped up. A mach cone was forming around her and BOOM, a sonic rainboom the trees all flew back and Dark Star spun out of control. She reached Zecoras hut "Who enters my ho-"
"Zecora I need the Alicorn Amulet no time for questions, quick!" She then pointed to a box. Dash opened it and picked it up with her mouth. she flew out of Zecoras hut to be greeted by a furious Dark Star "THAT'S MINE" He said with a frown. Dash took of in the direction towards Ponyville. He took off after her dodging trees and obsticals
They both reached the barrier and dash pulled a sharp turn. As did Dark Star who was gaining on her Another mach cone forming around her. Dark Stars horn was starting to glow. " Oh no you don't!" He teleported in front of her. Dash noticed a corner of a building that had not been covered by the barrier. She thought maybe she could break through it and by some more time. She flew towards it as magic over took the amulet and it slipped out of her mouth. She flew through the corner and the barrier enclosed the gap. As Dark Star collided with the Amulet all the magic held in his horn exploded the barrier protecting Ponyville.
With that the barrier disappeared. Everypony came to the explosion site including the princesses and their gaurds. Dark Stars horn had shattered, making it useless. His wings were damaged and unable to fly and the amulet was split in two. He was surrounded. He thought about making a run for it but that would be futile, he couldn't use magic and he couldn't fly. He was defeated. Blood was now trickling down his face and he was in extreme pain. He looked up at Celestia "well go on do your worst" he said as he passed out."Princess what are you going to do?"Twilight asked as her friends look on."Don't worry my faithful subjects we will deal with him. You go help your friends right now. You all did an excellent job I am very proud of you all." She said as she got on to her carriage and was taken back to Canterlot. He awoke several hours later with bandages on and his wings bound he looked up at Celestia. He was in Canterlot in a cage. "Your crimes are abhorrent and unforgivable I sentence you to exile in the badlands on the outskirts of Equestria. The badlands was the only place worse than the moon. It housed many monstrous creatures and the changlings. "Do you have anything to say for yourself!" Asked Celestia. Dark star shook his head. "take him away!" Luna said but was interrupted by Celestia. She flew next to him."Tell me who you really are." Dark Star looked up eyes glowing red again and the same black smoke flew from his nose as and said "You know exactly who I am." He then smiled was taken away by the guards.
Later that night Celestia was looking out the window in her throne room thinking about what Dark Star had said. "What troubles you sister our problem has been solved?" Luna asked curiously. "I think we made a mistake letting him live dear sister." "Excuse us are you serious sister!" Luna said with alarm "Yes he is far more dangerous then you could possibly imagine."

Pain. Pain was the only thing going through his head as he was carted off. He kept slipping in and out of consciousnesses during the flight until they arrived. "All right you have been sentenced to exile here! You are to remain here and never set foot in Canterlot again! Dark Star was in no shape to fight as he was pulled out of the cart and left on the ground.
The impact of hitting the ground woke him up. "Uh how could Celestia be this cruel. Then again she did send her own sister to the moon." He thought to himself as he managed to stand up. His head was still throbbing. He tried to force magic but it sent shock waves of pain through his body. He then tried his wings. He moved his right and it worked fine but his left was useless. Pain shot through his body again, causing him to pass out.
Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months. His horn was still shattered and his wing had not healed properly, he has come across many monstrous creatures looking to have him for their next meal and had to defend himself, collecting quite a number of scars in the process. His sanity was wearing thin, having to endure the hatred, pain, anger, and guilt. But there was also the voice. He hadn't heard it since he lived at the orphanage so many years ago. Each day getting worse starting off quiet and barley noticeable, but getting progressively louder and louder to the point where it was almost a defining scream in his ear. "Kill them! kill them! why didn't you kill them!
"SHUT UP!! SHUT UP!!!" He grabbed head as a swearl of pain flew through him. He finally fell asleep after screaming himself hoarse. The next morning he had thought of trying to escape this place. He had tried 3 times before, finding the mountainous terrain to difficult to traverse, or a creature attacking him. Even if he got out of the mountains he would have to go through the changeling hive. That was dangerous, they would try to feed on him, occasionally finding one that would wonder away from the hive. It would try to mess with his head, desperately looking for food but it was to no avail.
Another night of little to no sleep. He kept hearing the voice screaming in his ear. The hate and anger building up inside him, hate is what he felt the most. "Its time to get some food." He said as his stomach rumbled. He went deep into the cave he had been using as his den. He finally found what he was looking for, a rat. He grabbed it and forced it down, the taste sickened him. Ponies aren't meant to eat meat but he had to make due with what he had. "How long do you think you can keep this up" The voice in his head said. "Shut up.'' he said quietly. Rats were his primary diet but he took what he could find, one time having to eat a dead changeling he found. He vomited it up mostly but it kept away starvation. "I need to get away from this place, but how?" "I know a way." The voice answered with a chuckle. "NO! NO! NO! YOU"RE NOT REAL!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.
His sanity was all but gone. This place was a living hell with no way of escaping, or at least he thought there was no way. He sat in the corner of the cave, eyes blood shot and his pupils little dots in the center of his eyes. "Are you ready?" The voice asked. "YES." He answered out loud. He wasn't sure what was about to happen, he didn't know what he had agreed to. Black smoke was now flowing out of his nose and the stump where his horn used to be."AHHHHHHHHH!" It was getting extremely painful. It felt like something inside his head was trying to force its way out. He had felt this before, although not anywhere near as severe, when ever he did something bad. His eyes were glowing red now and his wing was forcing its way up. CRACK! SNAP! CRUNCH! Those where the sounds that came from his wing as it opened. "AHH! NO! NO MORE! PLEASE!!!" He screamed as he feel to the ground in pain. Soon, after an hour of this, a new horn had grown and his wing was usable again.
He stood up again. "What how is that possible?" He pondered as he tested out his wing and horn. He also noticed the scars he had gathered were gone and he felt stronger. "That was my doing" The voice said. Smoke flowed out of his horn and formed what looked like a warped pony face in front of him. "I have been with you since you were born. My name is Animus, I am one of the beings that represented an emotion. Mine is hatred. 1000 years ago I was defeated by the princess. I was able to escape before she sealed me away just like my brothers. In my weakened condition I had no choice but to latch on to a living being. I have been doing this ever since. I have given these gifts to you so you can enact your revenge but in return I ask you one thing. Take over the Crystal Empire. My influence will spread across Equestria, and we will rule."
The smoke retracted back into him. A small part of him wanted to refuse this offer, but that was forgotten about that as soon as he felt the surge of power flow through his body. It felt intoxicating but it also felt wrong, but he couldn't resist it. "Time to go" he said with a large grin on his face as he took off. He flew for half an hour before a large dragon came behind him. "This looks like good practice" he said as his horn started to glow. After he killed the dragon he took of again. He saw the changeling hive a mile a head, and he got an idea. Dark Star flew into the hive to meet the Queen of the changelings herself, Chrysalis. She, along with all of her subjects were sick and malnourished. "Ah I see food for my subjects. Feed. Feed now." The changelings all started to approach him but the black smoke was flowing from his horn, coating the entire place.
The changelings fell over coughing. They stood up, eyes glowing red and they all looked to him and bowed. "That's interesting I didn't even know I could do that"
"What have you done! My children stop this at once!" Chrysalis said with surprise in her voice. Dark Stars eyes were now glowing red as well. "Few can resist the influence." Animus said inside Dark Stars head. "But you it's not strong enough yet. These creatures will help you. "You have abilities I would like to know. You are going to teach me these things." Dark Star demanded.
"And what if I refuse." Chrysalis replied back. "You don't have any other options if you value the continued existence of the changelings. I can feel how weak you are and all your subjects obey me."
"Fine." Chrysalis said reluctantly as she hung her head down in defeat.
5 months Later
"So are you excited about tonight Twilight? Asked Spike. This was the first gala Twilight was attending as a princess. "Of coarse Spike! It's going to be so much fun. Are you sure you don't come with us?" Asked Twilight as she got dressed for The Grand Galloping Gala. It was the first time her and her friends would be attending since they had made foals of themselves at the last Gala. "I already told you NO!" Spike shouted at her."Well ok you don't need to get so mad." Twilight had noticed that Spike had been acting different over the past couple of months. He was more short with her and had mood swings. Twilight had chocked this up to spike getting older, but something about him seemed off. She would have thought about it more but her friends had just showed up. "Hey guys are you all ready to go?" Twilight happily asked her newly arrived friends. "Yes I've been waiting for like and hour. Why does it take so long for you guys to get dressed anyway!" Rainbow Dashed groaned, impatient as ever. "Rainbow Dash you can't rush perfection" Rarity said as she walked into Twilight's library. She had designed the dresses for her and her friends. They were based off of their mane colors rather than their personalities this time.
When the arived at the gala they were met with the same sight as last time,rich, fancy ponies entering the beautiful canterlot castle. They weren't going to make the same mistake this time though, they knew they would have better time if they stuck together. Princess Celestia was preparing in her chambers. "I don't know if we should be doing this given recent events little sister. With the wonder bolts training camp being destroyed." Celestia said to her younger sister. "Oh Tia that's non-sense, I'm sure everything will go without a hitch tonight. I will guard the night as always, you go have fun. " Luna's voice was very serious and emotionless. "Hmm you're probably right. Well I probably should get going, the subjects are expecting me. Good night sister." Celestia said with a smile.
The royal guard was also preparing. "Alright men! Tonight is the night we have been preparing for! I hope you're all ready because everything needs to go perfectly! I don't want anypony ruining it! You all got that!" The captain commanded. "Yes sir!" They all simultaneously answered. "Good. I will be in the throne room. You all know what to do."
"So Rainbow are ya disappointed the wonderbolts aren't here" Applejack asked Rainbow Dash. "A little bit, but I understand why they couldn't be here."
Fluttershy, Twilight and Pinkie Pie were on the dance floor, while Dash Applejack and Rarity where talking when the royal guard grabbed them. In the throne room The captain was looking through the window at the ball room. "I have been waiting so long for this, and I can't believe it's finally here. So did she buy i-" He was interrupted by sound of a carriage landing on the balcony. "Finally. Did you bring the items I asked of you?" A voice from the carriage answered. "Yes."
"Good, stay here for now until I tell you to come out. Got that?" The captain commanded. "Yes sir. What exactly is the signal?" The voice asked. "You'll know it when you see it." Meanwhile the ball room was now being cleared out. "Princess Celestia we think intercepted a threat to the gala, and we need you to get to a safe place. Follow us!" One of guard instructed The princess. "Do you know who threatened us?"
"We believe it was Chrysalis." One of guards thought up as they reached the door to the throne room."That Chrysalis just doesn't know when to qui-" She was cut off by the sounds of the door slamming shut behind her. She was also thrown off by Twilight and all her friends being in there with her. "My little ponies what are you doing her." Celestia asked with a questioned look on her face. "We don't know princess, we were just minding our own business when we were escorted up here.
"That was my doing!'' A voice called out from the darkness around celestia's throne. "Who said that?" Demanded Celestia. "Oh in do time, but first I just have to say how happy I am to see you all again."
''Wait I know that voice you're the captain of the royal guard. What are you doing up here." Twilight said. He walk out of the darkness to reveal himself. "I think it's time to show you who I really am. You see the real captain is no longer with us. I disposed of him long ago." He said as he started to glow. " After you sent me away Celestia I learned a couple of new tricks from the changelings, for example how to change your appearance." The captain said as light completely engulfed his body. His body changed to reveal a spiky black mane, black coat, wings, a horn, and a skull and cross bones cutie mark. "It's you. But how is that possible princess?" Applejack ask as she looked at the princess who had a stern look on her face. All her friends had a look of shock on their face. "I didn't want to believe it, but I knew it was you all along, Animus" The princess said with worry in her voice. "Yes he aided me in my escape from that hell hole you sent me to, and has given me powers you can't comprehend." Dark Star said as a slight grin appeared on his face.
"Who is Animus, princess? And why haven't I heard of him?" Twilight asked with a look confusion on her face. "Animus is the spirit of hatred, my loyal subject. 1000 years ago my sister and I faced him with the elements of harmony. We thought it destroyed him, but we were wrong. He was so weakened that the only way for him to survive was for him to latch on to a living thing. He has been doing it for 1000 years."
"And speaking of your sister" He said as he pointed to the balcony as Nightmare Moon entered. "Sister. No." Were the only words the princess could muster as tears formed in her eyes. "You see manipulation of emotion was always something I could do, but the changelings magic blended so perfectly with mine that I was able to perfect it. Know if anypony has the slightest hint of hate in there heart I can exploit it. But I digress, I want a chance to talk to all of you before I end this." He started to walk towards the ponies. "Twilight Sparkle. I am impressed, I mean at first I thought you were just some unicorn, but look at you now, a princess. It really is brilliant." Twilight looked away in disgust as he was talking. " And you, Fluttershy ,was it?" His eyes began to glow red. "You reformed, Discord. I'll have to undo that damage." Fluttershy curled up shaking as he stood over her.
"Hey leave her alone!" Rainbow dash was quick to defend her oldest friend. "Ah yes it's you. You're the reason I broke my horn. As a pegasus you can't experience something as painful as that, but maybe one of them can." He eyed Rarity. A smile came over his smile and calmly walked towards her. He put his hoof on her head and slammed down to the floor. He preceded to stomp on her horn. "AHHHHHHHHHH!" was the only sound that came from Rarity's mouth. A crack could be heard as he put more force on her horn.
"Stop please!'' They all pleated to him as he kept putting more force down. "What's that I can't here you you'll have to speak up." His eyes were blood shot.
"Stop! Stop!" They kept crying out to no avail. "ENOUGH!" The princess said loud enough to echo throughout all of Canterlot. "Fine, have it your way princess. But I do agree, It is time to end this." His horn started to glow. In an instant magic shot from it. The princess was knocked back, unable to fight back. Her horn was burnt, and she was defeated. The four ponies were quick to help the princess as Fluttershy Helped Rarity. "Quick Twilight! We need the elements of harmony!" With that the door swung open. It was Spike, holding the elements. "Sike! What are you doing here?" Twilight asked as she walk up to him. She was met by a scratch from spike. She noticed his eyes were red.
The elements were elevated out of his hand. "You treated me like your slave! And you all toyed with my emotions! Especially you Rarity! I hate you all!" Spike said as went by Nightmare Moon and Dark Stars side. "Spike please." Twilight said as tears and blood streamed down her face. "Now to get rid of these" Dark Star said as his horn glowed as the elements were all crushed and destroyed. Twilight teleported behind him to try and buck him but was caught in his magic. He then tossed her at the window, cracking it down the middle. Twilight's wing was injured as she stood up. "Whats wrong Twilight? Did you just find out you're out of options. You should have seen this coming, I mean long did you think this could last. Good by Twilight Sparkle." He raised a hoof and pushed her out the window.
"Twilight!" They all screamed, tears forming in their faces. Rainbow Tried to go after her but was thrown back by Nightmare Moon. "Please stop this." The princess said as she stood up. "I know this isn't you, it's him. Did he tell you tell you about the others? About how he killed them after they stopped being useful."
"What?'' Dark star had a look of confusion now.
"He'll do the same to you. You're nothing to him." Celestia said. Dark star was now noticing a pain growing in his head. "He made you do all of thoes tarrible things because it makes him stronger. He needs a body to take controll over to make him as strong as he once was.
"Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP! AHHHHH!" Dark Star collapsed. The pain was back at full force. There was also a voice "Kill her! Kill the princess! The pain will stop if you kill her"
"DIE!!!!!" He yelled as a beam of magic shot out of his horn, hitting Celestia right in the rib cage. She flew back hitting the doors. She wasn't moving.
