Episode I: "High Flying Fiasco"
FADE IN:
SWIMMING HOLE - DUSK
A peaceful scene depicts the red-orange sun just above the horizon of Ponyville's nearby swimming lake. After a short time, this peace is interrupted by PINKIE PIE and RAINBOW DASH poking their heads out of the water in quick succession. The two are sharing a time of fun and excitement.
FAVORING THE TWO PONIES
1 PINKIE PIE
Again! Again!
2 RAINBOW DASH
Okay. One more time! Because it's getting dark
and I'm itchin' to chow down. You game?
3 PINKIE PIE
Uhhhhhh...
PINKIE PIE's eyes dart back and forth, initially aiming to dodge the question. She actually appears to sink into an unusually bashful side of her character.
4 RAINBOW DASH
Well? Do you want to come?
FAVORING PINKIE PIE
5 PINKIE PIE
I actually promised Fluttershy I would join her for
dinner. I hope that's not a problem...
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH
RAINBOW DASH shows a somewhat shocked reaction to the way PINKIE PIE is acting.
6 RAINBOW DASH
That's alright! I know it can be hard to choose
sometimes. Especially when you have to refuse
hanging with somepony like me. Now it's time for
one last high dive!
IN THE AIR, FOLLOWING THE TWO PONIES
RAINBOW DASH scoops up PINKIE PIE and begins flying upward, carrying her to an altitude high above the swimming hole. The camera follows them as they ascend, then cuts to a point of view far enough to show how high they are from the ground.
IN THE SKY ABOVE THE LAKE- AGAIN FAVORING THE TWO PONIES
7 PINKIE PIE
One...
8 RAINBOW DASH
Two...
9 PINKIE PIE
THREEEEEEEEE!!! Wooooohoooo!! [continue screaming]
The previous line is belted out as RAINBOW DASH releases PINKIE PIE to fall down toward the water; thrill-inspired screams of delight continue to come from PINKIE PIE as she falls. Immediately after releasing her, RAINBOW DASH flies downward as quickly as possible to catch up with PINKIE PIE as she descends; eventually, as PINKIE PIE assumes cannonball position, RAINBOW DASH reaches a point where she lets gravity do all the work so that they splash into the lake in unison.
AT THE LAKE SHORE
PINKIE PIE and RAINBOW DASH walk onto the beach from the water, giggling.
10 RAINBOW DASH
Off to Cloudsdale for me.
Later, Pinkie Pie!
11 PINKIE PIE
Bye Dashie!
IN THE SKY
RAINBOW DASH begins flying, gaining altitude so that she may reach her home above the ground. As she is flying above a layer of clouds, a quickly-traveling sea-green figure flies vertically toward the ground, directly in front of her, nearly colliding with her. RAINBOW DASH stops just sort of such a hypothetical collision, and hovers.
12 RAINBOW DASH and SEEKER (simultaneously)
Whoa!
13 RAINBOW DASH
Who flies straight down like that?
As RAINBOW DASH asks herself this, a sea-green pegasus pony SEEKER shoots right back up through the layer of clouds below to engage her in conversation. His flank is decorated with an image of a scroll displaying a basic map of Equestria, which can hardly be read.
14 SEEKER
Sweet Celestia! I really need to be more careful.
15 RAINBOW DASH
You can say that again.
16 SEEKER
Sweet Ce- ...Ahem. I'm truly sorry that I almost
ran into you. It's just that I'm trying to find a
place called Ponyville and it's getting dark soon!
I need a place to stay the night and I'm so far from
home!
17 RAINBOW DASH
Far from home? Where's home?
18 SEEKER
I'm from Maneitoba.
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH
19 RAINBOW DASH
You must be real far. I've never heard of "Maneitoba."
As RAINBOW DASH speaks the name "Maneitoba," she imitates quotation marks with her two front hooves.
FAVORING BOTH CHARACTERS
20 RAINBOW DASH
What led you to come so far from home anyway?
21 SEEKER
I've been assigned to Ponyville. You see, I'm a map-making pegasus. See my cutie mark? [turns and shows his flank] It's my job to fly high above Equestria using what I see to make maps... so ponies can find their way!
FAVORING SEEKER- TRIUMPHANT BACKDROP
A triumphant backdrop appears.
22 SEEKER
By the power vested in these hooves and these
wings, nopony in Equestria shall ever get lost!
The backdrop fades away, giving way to reality.
RESUMING REALITY-- CONTINUING TO FAVOR SEEKER
23 SEEKER
...Except maybe in deep dark forests with thick
canopies that we pegasi can't see into very well.
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH
RAINBOW DASH rolls her eyes. SEEKER approaches her and points his hoof at her, as the camera zooms out to include both ponies.
24 SEEKER
You must be a really agile flyer to stop so suddenly
like that. My name's Seeker.
25 RAINBOW DASH
I'm Rainbow Dash. And when it comes to flying, I'm
only the best around.
RAINBOW DASH poses triumphantly, and the camera flashes quickly to a portrait of SEEKER who responds to her showiness with a smug expression on his face.
26 SEEKER
Speaking of "around", do you know who could show
me around Ponyville? Plus I [yawn] really could use
a place to sleep.
27 RAINBOW DASH
I'm your mare, right here. Ponyville's my primetime
hangout spot.
With their backs turned to the screen, the two fly at a walking pace off into the distance toward the town below. The scene fades into the opening credits.
[OPENING CREDITS]
(COMMERCIAL)
PONYVILLE STREET- MORNING
A new day begins. The scene is that of a camera set up low to the ground along the left side of a Ponyville street. Buildings line either side. RAINBOW DASH enters the frame from the top flying downward; she then changes her trajectory to a horizontal one, just above the ground, zooming past the side of the camera.
Shift to a lateral view of the street, following RAINBOW DASH as she slows down from a high speed to a halt. She plants her hooves on the ground outside of the newly-remodeled Pillows and Sofas. A sign depicting a pillow and a sofa hangs above the entrance to the shop. As RAINBOW DASH trots toward the entrance, she is tackled by PINKIE PIE, causing the pair to tumble until they come to rest with PINKIE PIE atop RAINBOW DASH.
FAVORING PINKIE PIE AND RAINBOW DASH
As PINKIE PIE says "hey," RAINBOW DASH simultaneously begins talking.
28 PINKIE PIE
Hey!
29 RAINBOW DASH [same time as previous line]
Pinkie Pie! What did you do that for?
30 PINKIE PIE
Did you make a new friend?
31 RAINBOW DASH [miffed]
Well ye-...no...wh-...I met a map-making pegasus
from Maneitoba last night. He's staying here for a
while to get map work done.
32 PINKIE PIE
So you did make a new--
33 RAINBOW DASH [interrupting]
How did you know that anyway?
ZOOM OUT- INCLUDE RAINBOW DASH, PINKIE PIE, AND STOREFRONT
RAINBOW DASH uses a hoof to quickly push PINKIE PIE off of her, and within a flash, they are both standing upright facing each other. PINKIE PIE points out that her left ear is pointing to the left and not forward. She uses a hoof to push this ear into the correct position, and when she releases it, the ear springs right back to its leftward-facing state. She does this twice for posterity's sake.
34 RAINBOW DASH [dismissively]
Is there anything your Pinkie
sense can't sense?
35 PINKIE PIE
Lots of things! For example, I have no sense
of why you just asked me that question!
RAINBOW DASH's eyes droop in mild frustration.
FAVORING THE STOREFRONT
Meanwhile the door to Pillows and Sofas (formerly Quills and Sofas) is quickly forced open to reveal SEEKER emerging from the establishment.
36 SEEKER
Rainbow Dash! I thought I heard you out here.
FAVORING SEEKER
In a fraction of a second, PINKIE PIE is in his face.
37 PINKIE PIE
Hi! You must be the mapmaking pegasus from
Maneitoba I've heard nothing about!
38 SEEKER [after a slight pause]
If you've heard nothing about me, then how--
39 PINKIE PIE [completely interrupting]
You should meet my other friends too! I am so
excited! Come on!
FAVORING ALL THREE CHARACTERS
PINKIE PIE darts off, but RAINBOW DASH chomps on her tail preventing her from going much of anywhere.
40 SEEKER
But I don't even know your name yet!
RAINBOW DASH releases PINKIE PIE, and they stand in a triangular formation as introductions are made.
41 RAINBOW DASH [professionally]
Seeker, this is Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie, this
is Seeker.
42 PINKIE PIE
Great! Now let's go meet my friends!
Without wasting a second, PINKIE PIE darts off, and RAINBOW DASH and SEEKER decide to follow at a more reasonable trotting pace.
INSIDE TWILIGHT'S LIBRARY
RARITY and TWILIGHT are standing in a bookshelf-clad room of TWILIGHT's library; the door can be seen behind them. They appear to be in a mild disagreement.
43 TWILIGHT
I'm sorry Rarity. The type of books I have mainly
focus on the history, geography, magic, and ponies
of Equestria.
44 RARITY
But the trends and appearances are what define
history! And if so, how are those not in your history
collection?
TWILIGHT smirks dismissively.
45 RARITY
No magazines either. Ugh! What kind of library
doesn't have periodicals?
FAVORING THE DOORWAY
A "knock-knock-smash" is heard at the door, and the door is slammed open in the instance whenceupon one might expect a third knock.
INSIDE TWILIGHT'S LIBRARY- FOYER
In bounces PINKIE PIE who chants a rhyme...
46 PINKIE PIE
Trick or treat! Smell my feet! Here's somepony new
to meet!
SEEKER and RAINBOW DASH trot through the doorway into the library.
47 SEEKER
It's really no big deal...
48 RAINBOW DASH
This is Seeker. He's a map-maker.
TWILIGHT and RARITY stroll from offscreen over to the foyer, where every pony ends up congregating. RARITY is on the far end to the left, and TWILIGHT is next to her.
49 TWILIGHT
Oh cool! I love maps!
50 RAINBOW DASH
You do?
51 TWILIGHT
Of course! Maps are like books but more visual.
Both are important sources of information. I have
an entire closet of maps in the other room.
PAN TO RARITY
52 RARITY
You mean to tell me that you have no fashion
magazines, but you have an entire closet of maps?
TWILIGHT zips over and puts her hoof around RARITY's shoulder. She introduces herself and her fellow
unicorn with a friendly smile.
53 TWILIGHT
This...is Rarity. And I'm Twilight Sparkle.
FAVORING SEEKER
SEEKER subtly demonstrates his inability to contain his excitement about the map closet.
54 SEEKER
Great to meet you! ...Nnnnnnow can I see your
map closet? Uh, please- if it's not too much trouble.
INCLUDE ENTIRE FOYER
55 TWILIGHT [begin fading]
Sure! So what brings you to Ponyville anyway?
56 SEEKER [continue fading]
Incidentally, the Equestrian Cartography
Administration assigned me to collect data so we
could map this very town!
TWILIGHT and SEEKER walk off side-by-side toward the back of the library's first floor. Their conversation fades out as they walk out of the scene.
57 PINKIE PIE
Well it looks like they're hitting it off.
RARITY, PINKIE PIE, and RAINBOW DASH wait by the front door. Several frames, each a couple seconds long, depict them becoming more and more bored. Finally, RAINBOW DASH perks back up.
58 RAINBOW DASH
I know what'll get him going.
FROM INSIDE THE MAP CLOSET
Plant the camera inside the map closet, showing SEEKER and TWILIGHT sticking their heads inside. RAINBOW DASH says "hey," then the camera pans outside the closet.
59 RAINBOW DASH
Hey! Seeker. So you're all smart and stuff. But
what about a race?
60 SEEKER
I'll lose, but okay!
61 RAINBOW DASH
Where to?
62 SEEKER
How about a race to Town Hall? It makes sense to
start my mapping at a central location, right?
63 RAINBOW DASH
You're on!
INSIDE THE LIBRARY- FOYER
The camera now looks at the foyer once more.
64 SEEKER
I need to get to work anyways. It was really nice
meeting everypony! We can totally hang later.
65 RARITY
It was most pleasant meeting you as well.
66 TWILIGHT
We'll talk later!
OUTSIDE- IN FRONT OF THE LIBRARY
Change to an outdoor scene in front of the library. The camera focuses on the underside of RAINBOW DASH as she is pawing at the ground in preparation. The camera then switches to SEEKER's underside. He picks up his front hoof halfheartedly as if to quickly inspect it, then he promptly puts it back down.
Switch back to viewing both of them side-by-side at an imaginary starting line.
67 RAINBOW DASH
You ready?
68 SEEKER
Sure, I guess...
69 RAINBOW DASH
On your mark...Get set...Go!
The two fly about one story in the air above various streets in Ponyville.
OUTSIDE TOWN HALL
Cut to the outside of Town Hall, where RAINBOW DASH comes in for a swift landing. A good four seconds later, SEEKER arrives.
70 RAINBOW DASH
Wow. I was totally the star of that race! ...No
offense.
71 SEEKER
None taken! Racing was never one of my strong
points. It's about time I got to map stuff now though.
Catch up later?
72 RAINBOW DASH
Sure thing! See ya!
73 SEEKER
Later!
SEEKER then takes off flying almost vertically upward. He flies quickly, but not at an astonishing speed.
LOOKING UP FROM THE GROUND
The camera looks up from the ground as SEEKER soars altitudes so high, he is nearly out of sight. He then breaks through a high stratus cloud, obscuring him.
RAINBOW DASH looks up, awestruck.
74 RAINBOW DASH
Whoa! How does he fly that high?!
She flaps her wings to soar gradually, and arrives at her typical altitude. SEEKER is so far above her that he is still almost out of sight.
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH
75 RAINBOW DASH
I know he said "high flying," but this is
ridiculous! I never go that high!
RAINBOW DASH does double takes between looking up at SEEKER and looking down at the ground. She then gulps and slowly flaps her wings to take her higher and higher, pushing herself to reach heights like those of Seeker. After a while, her eyes suddenly widen and she glances downward. She subsequently darts back down to her normal altitude yelling in fear.
76 RAINBOW DASH [frantically]
Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!
(COMMERCIAL)
RAINBOW DASH gives herself a few seconds to catch her breath and calm down. Her glance becomes determined.
77 RAINBOW DASH
Being the best flyer all-around is my job! No pony
takes that title from me.
ACROSS THE SKIES
RAINBOW DASH then darts around and performs acrobatics below SEEKER so that he sees her flying prowess. She pushes an assortment of clouds into the shape of her cutie mark, a lightning bolt stemming down from a cloud.
The camera briefly shows SEEKER smirking looking down at RAINBOW DASH's cloud creation and then flying off to another area of the sky.
RAINBOW DASH then begins flying around in elaborate patterns, leaving rainbows behind which then form interesting shapes. She is eventually stopped in her tracks by SEEKER who has evidently reduced his elevation to talk to her. He has developed a stern facial expression.
FAVORING SEEKER AND RAINBOW DASH
78 SEEKER [accusatory]
Rainbow! Your cloud thing kept me from locating
anything in south Ponyville! I have no idea where anything
is in the marketplace!
79 RAINBOW DASH [shyly, then in confrontation]
Oh...Sorry. But this isn't over.
She then darts off. SEEKER shrugs and slowly flies
upward out of frame.
GRASSY MEADOW
Pan to the ground in a grassy area outside Ponyville. RAINBOW DASH is pondering by herself.
80 RAINBOW DASH
Not impressive enough, huh? Because you're so much
better, right? Hah! He'll have to recognize my
radicalness once he sees this.
RAINBOW DASH launches upward into the air. She begins rocketing around in circles, eventually forming a tornado. The tornado cuts a jagged path across the grassland.
THE UPPER SKIES
Pan to the upper reaches of the atmosphere, where SEEKER becomes startled, looking down at the tornado dancing cumbersomely across the plains.
FAVORING THE TORNADO
The tornado sucks up all nearby clouds that are scattered about the sky and regurgitates them over the swimming hole, which is nearby. The clouds, now densely packed into a small space into the sky, suddenly release a torrent into the lake below.
FAVORING THE LAKE
RAINBOW DASH then dives into the lake, surfaces, then haughtily back-strokes across the lake.
81 RAINBOW DASH [victoriously]
Plenty of water for everypony!
Zoom the camera out to see SEEKER hovering just
above the swimming hole slightly to the left with a bewildered
look on his face.
82 SEEKER
Dude! That was amazing!
83 RAINBOW DASH
Ha! Just one of a long legacy of ponies to tell me that.
Nice to add somepony new to the list.
FAVORING SEEKER AND RAINBOW DASH
SEEKER's tone abruptly changes to an angry one.
84 SEEKER
But what makes you think you can get away spawning
tornadoes wherever you want like that!? Somepony
could get hurt! You could destroy their homes!
85 RAINBOW DASH
Relax! I've got it under control-
86 SEEKER [interrupting]
You're lucky I don't report you to Canterlot for
stunts like that. And you're lucky you didn't
create one less landmark to put on my maps.
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH
SEEKER flies back to the upper skies. Pan back to RAINBOW DASH, stationary in the lake. She begins ranting
to herself and flailing in the water, creating a bunch of obnoxious splashing.
87 RAINBOW DASH [text in quotes imitates Seeker]
"You're lucky I don't report you!" You're lucky I
still talk to you with your stuck up attitude. You think
you're better than me!? What do you have that I
don't? I've got hooves, wings, a spectacular tail...
RAINBOW DASH squints, and the camera zooms into her eyes.
88 RAINBOW DASH [deviously]
I know...
The screen cuts to black.
CUT TO BLACK
FADE IN--ENTERING PONYVILLE FROM ABOVE
Next, we see a new scene of a flyover entering Ponyville.
FAVORING A HAT SHOP
The screen switches to a view outside of the hat shop. RAINBOW DASH busts out of the door and screeches to a halt in front of the camera sporting a knit hat nearly identical to SEEKER's.
89 RAINBOW DASH
Now he'll have nothin' on me!
She then speeds away off to the side.
OUTSIDE- ON A PATH NEAR THE DEAD TREE
A new scene begins where FLUTTERSHY is fluttering low to the ground along a path near her home. She stops atop a rock in front a leafless, dead tree where her bird choir typically rehearses. Upon doing so, she sings a few graceful notes...
90 FLUTTERSHY [singing sweetly]
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh! [Potentially can be sung with
the pitches A B A B A as if in the key of D major, but may
be different if desired]
This causes FLUTTERSHY's songbird choir to quickly assemble in the leafless tree from offscreen. She assumes conducting position and addresses the birds.
91 FLUTTERSHY
How is everybirdy doing today?
The songbirds sing a happy positive note in response to indicate that they're doing well.
92 FLUTTERSHY
That's so wonderful to hear! Are you ready to rehearse
our new song for the music conference this Saturday?
Another positive note is sung by the songbirds to indicate their approval.
93 FLUTTERSHY
Okay. From the top!
FLUTTERSHY takes in air to begin counting them off.
94 FLUTTERSHY
[gasp] One, two, three, four!
The songbirds begin singing for several seconds, but a shrill, frightened note from all the songbirds cuts her off. The birds fly in every which direction from the tree in panic.
FAVORING FLUTTERSHY
Pan to FLUTTERSHY who is confused and concerned.
95 FLUTTERSHY
Oh my! What's happening?
SHIFT TO THE UPPER SKIES
The camera swiftly shifts upward to several falcons divebombing toward the vicinity of the rehearsal tree. They swoop down, and promptly change their direction into an upward trajectory. They turn around to divebomb the tree a second time. FLUTTERSHY tries to gruffly scold the predatory birds.
FAVORING FLUTTERSHY
96 FLUTTERSHY [scolding]
Hey! What are you doing?
The falcons pay no attention, as they are flying too quickly. They simply whizz on by.
INTO THE SKIES- INCLUDE FLUTTERSHY AND THE FALCONS
FLUTTERSHY, with a scornful expression, begins gracefully and slowly flying directly upward. She reaches typical pegasus altitude to question the raptors, who are still flying around swiftly. FLUTTERSHY calls out to them.
97 FLUTTERSHY [scornfully]
Get back here, you!
The falcons realize FLUTTERSHY is after them, and their reaction is to fly at double the altitude. Her anger subsequently becomes more apparent.
98 FLUTTERSHY [aggravated]
Get back here you jerks!
The falcons continue to fly around in circles far above her head. FLUTTERSHY growls in frustration.
99 FLUTTERSHY
Rrrrrrrrrrgh!
FOLLOWING FLUTTERSHY AS SHE DESCENDS
Then she returns to the ground near the rock atop which she was standing. A fraction of a second after landing, she stomps her front hoof on the ground and grunts.
100 FLUTTERSHY
Ugh!
FLUTTERSHY'S POINT OF VIEW
The camera then roughly assume's FLUTTERSHY's vantage down the path that runs along by her conducting rock. SEEKER flutters down from above and approaches FLUTTERSHY.
101 SEEKER
Were you the one making that beautiful music?
FAVORING FLUTTERSHY
FLUTTERSHY's voice suddenly reduces drastically in volume, and she unsurprisingly becomes very shy.
102 FLUTTERSHY
Y-... yes.
FAVORING BOTH FLUTTERSHY AND SEEKER
FLUTTERSHY bashfully looks down and off to the side. SEEKER offers a hoof as if to request a handshake.
103 SEEKER
I'm Seeker!
Silence occurs for two seconds.
104 SEEKER
Who are you?
The only sound that can be heard in response is the whistling wind. SEEKER's eyebrows shift into an uneven position in confusion for a quick moment.
105 SEEKER
Traditional songbird music always brightens my day. I loved it! [pause] ...What happened to your birds?
FAVORING FLUTTERSHY
FLUTTERSHY instantly breaks out into a fast-paced frustrated rant.
106 FLUTTERSHY [urgently, showing distress]
I was rehearsing a song with my bird friends who
were attacked by a bunch of falcons who swooped down
and we can't rehearse because of them and we have to
get this song right because we have to perform it at
the conference this Saturday and I can't get the
falcons to stop because they keep flying super-duper
high and I can't fly that high to get them to stop!!
[gasps for breath]
FLUTTERSHY then appears exhausted by her extensive rant. Seeker raises an eyebrow for a short moment.
AGAIN FAVORING THEM BOTH
SEEKER approaches her reassuringly.
107 SEEKER
Well, you have wings don't you?
108 FLUTTERSHY
Of course...
109 SEEKER
Well it's always been my belief, that any pony with
wings can fly...well, "super-duper high," as you call it.
110 FLUTTERSHY
Really?
111 SEEKER
It all comes down to a couple little secrets. I'm a
high flyer myself. I could help you...
112 FLUTTERSHY
That sure would be helpful...
The two ponies walk in a direction askew from the path nearby. As they do, they utter the following...
113 SEEKER
You still never told me your name, by the way.
114 FLUTTERSHY
Oh. It's Fluttershy.
OUTSIDE- OUTSKIRTS OF PONYVILLE
Cut to an outdoor scene somewhere devoid of paths. RAINBOW DASH is trotting across the grass as she talks.
115 RAINBOW DASH
That Seeker has nothing on me now. There's nothing
he can do that I can't do better. Hah. What a -- huh!?
ASSUME RAINBOW DASH'S POINT OF VIEW
RAINBOW DASH is taken aback as she notices SEEKER helping FLUTTERSHY soar to heights above where RAINBOW DASH is comfortable. SEEKER is seen in the distance stabilizing FLUTTERSHY with his front hooves. FLUTTERSHY is visibly inhaling and exhaling with what is construed as anxiety.
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH-- PORTRAIT
Cut to a portrait of RAINBOW DASH's expression of disbelief.
116 RAINBOW DASH
Fluttershy!? ...is flying higher than...me!?
FOLLOWING RAINBOW DASH
RAINBOW DASH zooms over to a portion of sky just below SEEKER and FLUTTERSHY.

I demand to know what the two of you are doing.
FAVORING FLUTTERSHY AND SEEKER

Oh, hi Rainbow Dash! I'm just trying to help my bird friends and my falcon friends get alo--
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH

Maybe I wasn't specific enough.
FAVORING ALL THREE OF RAINBOW DASH, FLUTTERSHY, & SEEKER
RAINBOW DASH then, in a flash, raises her altitude to confront SEEKER face-to-face. FLUTTERSHY shirks, moving slightly backward.
120 RAINBOW DASH [to both Seeker and Fluttershy]
What makes you think you're so much better than
everypony?
121 SEEKER
How could I be better? I raced you and you won!
122 RAINBOW DASH [stammering]

Zoom the camera out to see RAINBOW DASH catch herself and begin hovering once she reaches her normal altitude.

That night, FLUTTERSHY and SEEKER are inside FLUTTERSHY's cottage. SEEKER is getting ready to sleep on the couch (the same couch shown in "Stare Master"). SEEKER is dauntlessly happy that he has a new friend and a new place to sleep. FLUTTERSHY is offstage at first.

It's so amazingly kind of you to let me sleep here tonight, Fluttershy. I stayed at Pillows and Sofas
last night...and they were all out of pillows!
FAVORING FLUTTERSHY
Pan to FLUTTERSHY who was previously off to the side, about to ascend her staircase to get to her own bed.

CAMERA RAPIDLY FLIES TO A SHOT OF SUGAR CUBE CORNER
The camera exits the window of Rainbow Dash's home and swiftly moves to a new position, perhaps too quickly for the audience to see what's in between. The camera's destination is a second-floor window on the frontside of Sugarcube Corner, where we can see PINKIE PIE snoozing away, free of any sort of blanket or comforter. Her back leg is visibly twitching as she snores cutely.
INSIDE PINKIE PIE'S BEDROOM
132 PINKIE PIE
[snores]
Suddenly, PINKIE PIE begins quaking intensely atop her mattress for a second or two. The quaking goes away for a couple seconds, then returns in full force. Upon the second spell of shaking around, PINKIE PIE's eyes fly open. She remains in bed for a third spell to ensue, during which she vocalizes this bumpy ride.
133 PINKIE PIE [shaking]
Uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh.
PINKIE PIE then fully comes to and realizes what's happening.
134 PINKIE PIE [panicking]
...Twitchy tail? Twitchy tail!
She then hops out of bed and stands upright. Immediately afterward, her tail shakes so intensely that her entire body undergoes a tremor.
135 PINKIE PIE
Oh no.
OUTSIDE SUGARCUBE CORNER
The camera switches to a view of Sugarcube Corner from the outside at night, complementing how the following line is read loudly, suggesting impending danger.
136 PINKIE PIE [yelling, audible from outside]
It's a doozyyyyy!

OUTSIDE- PONYVILLE STREET
Cut to a Ponyville street at night where PINKIE PIE is purposefully sprinting toward the left. With a determined expression, she delivers a monologue reflecting on the seriousness of the situation, whatever it's going to be.

This is serious business! Something really big must
be falling, because this twitchy tail might be the dooziest
doozy I've ever felt! I have to find out what it is.
PINKIE PIE reaches a screeching halt in front of TWILIGHT's library. From below TWILIGHT's balcony, PINKIE PIE calls out desperately in a long drawn-out fashion.
138 PINKIE PIE
Twilight! Twilight!
Exactly when PINKIE PIE finishes calling TWILIGHT's name twice, she shakes again due to her twitchy tail. Not long after, TWILIGHT pushes the door open onto her balcony and pokes her head out. She clearly is disturbed by the rude awakening.

143 PINKIE PIE [with the word "crazy" read shakily]
My tail is twitching like crazy!
As PINKIE PIE says the word "crazy," her tail again sends a profound tremor through her body.
144 PINKIE PIE
I have a really bad feeling about this, Twilight!
145 TWILIGHT [trying to understand]
So what does that mean? Something's going to fall?
146 PINKIE PIE
Something really important is going to fall! Something really bad...like that!
PINKIE PIE points her hoof at a small silhouette in the distance, shrouded in clouds, falling from high in the sky. Twilight sees it off the side of her balcony. She teleports herself to Pinkie's side, and the two take off running toward the falling figure.
TWILIGHT'S POINT OF VIEW, MOBILE
As the two run closer, the camera assumes TWILIGHT's point of view. The silhouette is now more than a small spot in their vision. It's clearer now that the falling figure isn't an inanimate object; it's a pony.

It looks like a pony!
148 PINKIE PIE [worried]
Oh, no...
FOLLOWING BEHIND PINKIE PIE AND TWILIGHT
TWILIGHT and PINKIE PIE stop running when they become close to the falling pony's horizontal position. The falling pony remains a silhouette as TWILIGHT and PINKIE PIE think fast.

150 TWILIGHT
Here goes nothing.
TWILIGHT uses her magic to turn the falling silhouette's rapid downward velocity into horizontal velocity, causing its trajectory to slowly round a 90-degree vertical curve. As the pony silhouette travels parallel with the ground a mere pony's height above it, TWILIGHT's magic causes the shrouded figure to comfortably decelerate to a halt. It is then gently set to rest on the ground. TWILIGHT and PINKIE PIE rush over to where the pony came to rest.
POINT OF VIEW OF THE FALLEN PONY, LOOKING UP
The camera looks up from the mysterious pony's body to find PINKIE PIE and TWILIGHT looking over it. They are shocked at what they find.

152 PINKIE PIE [same time as previous line]
Oh no...
PONYVILLE HOSPITAL-- INSIDE THE LOBBY
FAVORING THE RECEPTIONIST DESK FROM THE OUTSIDE
Cut to inside the lobby of Ponyville's hospital. TWILIGHT is barely within the frame, which looks at the reception desk from outside of it. A RECEPTIONIST PONY can be seen behind the desk.
153 RECEPTIONIST PONY
What may I do for you?
RECEPTIONIST'S POINT OF VIEW
The camera switches to the point of view of the RECEPTIONIST, looking at PINKIE PIE and TWILIGHT who are facing her. The rest of the lobby can be seen in the background behind the two mares, who begin speaking urgently.
154 TWILIGHT
We have a pony who we found falling out of the sky.
She would have been doomed if we didn't find her and catch
her before she hit the ground. She is totally unconscious.
PINKIE PIE nods in support.
155 RECEPTIONIST PONY
Okay. Is she here?
156 PINKIE PIE
Right here. We need to help her quick!
FACING THE FRONT DESK AGAIN--FAVORING THE RECEPTIONIST
The camera switches back to the view from outside the receptionist desk, with TWILIGHT's back end barely in the frame.

Yes, and what is the name of the pony we're admitting?
158 TWILIGHT [seriously]
Rainbow Dash.
ZOOM OUT TO INCLUDE RAINBOW DASH AND ALL OF TWILIGHT
As TWILIGHT utters the name of the patient pony, the camera gradually pans to include PINKIE PIE standing alongside TWILIGHT, and a tattered, unconscious RAINBOW DASH next to her.
FAVORING PINKIE PIE AND RAINBOW DASH
PINKIE PIE, with utmost gentleness, strokes RAINBOW DASH's mane.
159 PINKIE PIE [almost whispering]
It's going to be okay, Dashie.
SHOWING THE DOOR AND A LARGE SPACE NEAR IT
A pair of swinging doors is busted through. A group of medical staff ponies come with a stretcher. RAINBOW DASH is places atop this stretcher, and it's pushed back through the swinging doors as TWILIGHT and PINKIE PIE stand and watch.
POSITION CAMERA AT THE DOORWAY FACING OUT
TWILIGHT puts a hoof around PINKIE PIE's shoulder, and the scene fades to black.
INSIDE HOSPITAL ROOM, LOOKING UPWARD FROM A PATIENT'S BED
The next scene is from RAINBOW DASH's point of view as she comes to. Vision is blurred at first, but things shortly come into focus. We find the heads of PINKIE PIE and SEEKER looking down at RAINBOW DASH as she comes to. She stretches and shifts her body, vocalizing as she does. But once she fully realizes that SEEKER is present, she instantly becomes confrontational.
160 RAINBOW DASH
Aaahhhh. Wait, what are you doing here?
161 SEEKER [defensively]
Wondering if you're okay!
162 TWILIGHT
What happened to you? You just fell out of the night sky! If it weren't for Pinkie Pie's twitchy tail, who knows what could have happened!
PINKIE PIE abruptly chimes in.
163 PINKIE PIE
And Twilight's magic!
FAVORING TWILIGHT
TWILIGHT bashfully looks down, and one of her ears flops down and off to the side, displaying her modesty.
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH
164 RAINBOW DASH
Well, the last thing I remember, I was flying crazy-
high in the clouds. Something that I surely am
capable of. And I dashed around up there as
long as I could, and then I started feeling faint.
And eventually, everything just went dark. That's
the last I remember...
SEEKER pokes his head into frame, mere inches from RAINBOW DASH's face.
165 SEEKER
That means you were flying too high! There's not
much air up there, and you have to be careful about
how you breathe. That's why you passed out! What
were you doing way up there?
166 RAINBOW DASH
[sighs] I wanted to outdo you, Seeker.
FAVORING SEEKER
167 SEEKER
Why?
FAVORING EACH PONY AS HE OR SHE TALKS
RAINBOW DASH metaphorically swallows her pride and aims to explain herself.
168 RAINBOW DASH
You see... I always thought that it was my job to be
the best at everything about flying: speed, agility, tricks,
cloud-moving, coolness, awesomeness, radicalness...but
you showed me one part of flying I wasn't the best at- flying
really high. I felt like my position as "best flyer" was being
challenged.
169 SEEKER
So that's why you were acting so strangely?
170 RAINBOW DASH
Yeah. I guess I turned it into a competition, and I was losing. And as my friends know, I hate losing.
171 TWILIGHT
Rainbow Dash. Nopony can be good at everything.
172 PINKIE PIE
Yeah, Dashie! You know who's really not good at flying? Me!
173 RAINBOW DASH
I know...but flying is my thing! I can't not be good at it!
174 SEEKER
Rainbow Dash, you're the one who's good at flying quickly, coolly, and awesomely--
175 RAINBOW DASH [interrupting]
Don't forget "radically!"

INSIDE TWILIGHT'S LIBRARY
A new scene begins with RAINBOW DASH inside of TWILIGHT's library. She is writing a letter applying a quill to a piece of parchment on a simple stand, similar to a music stand. After a couple sentences are read, cue a montage of scenes showing RAINBOW DASH and SEEKER flying together, as RAINBOW DASH reads the text of her letter.

Dear Princess Celestia, [BEGIN MONTAGE]
Sometimes, it's hard to accept when you aren't the best
at something. But it's important to realize that everypony
each has their own talents. We can't be the best at
everything, and I'm glad I realized that--because turning
everything into a competition can hurt friendships. And
friendship's the most important thing, right?

THE REHEARSAL TREE-- OUTDOORS
Enter a new scene showing FLUTTERSHY conducting a successful rehearsal with her birds. The last note is sung, and the camera zooms out to show SEEKER, RAINBOW DASH, and TWILIGHT spectating. The three all cheer.

Suddenly, a ruckus ensues in the sky above them. The falcons return and divebomb the dead tree. Some of the songbirds enter hollows in the tree, and others escape. FLUTTERSHY adopts an intimidating expression and rapidly floats to the upper skies.
IN THE SKIES
183 FLUTTERSHY [scolding]
Aaaaand what do you think you're doing? Do you think
that because you're bigger birds that you can disturb the
little birds and get away with it? Do you think that's how it
works? Do you!?
The falcons assume a submissive pose.
184 FLUTTERSHY
I didn't think so! Now be nice.
The falcons respectfully depart, and FLUTTERSHY comes back down to the ground.
NEAR THE REHEARSAL TREE AGAIN, SHOWING ALL PONIES PRESENT
185 SEEKER [to Rainbow Dash]
You know, I could teach you how to do go that high if
you want.
RAINBOW DASH pauses to carefully choose her words.
FAVORING RAINBOW DASH
186 RAINBOW DASH
You know what? That's your thing. I don't need to
learn how to do that.
RAINBOW DASH then turns away and begins trotting for a few seconds, before she stops and reconsiders. She then darts back to SEEKER and lies at his front hooves as if to show submission or start gruveling.
187 RAINBOW DASH [desperately]
Please teach me! Please- I need to know.
RAINBOW DASH'S POINT OF VIEW, SHOWING THE OTHER THREE
The last scene looks up from the ground at FLUTTERSHY and SEEKER who roll their eyes, smiling.
