“Could one of y’all help me out please?” AJ groaned, embarrassed at having walked right into a pool of black slimy goo, which steamed and smelled truly awful. Pinkamena, without hesitation, turned and left them there, as was her way he supposed.
“What are y’all waitin for!?” AJ yelled.
“Stop drop and roll?” Ivan suggested, with a raised brow.
“Does it look like Ah’m on fire Doc?” AJ snarled, eyes squinting dangerously.
“Not really, no.” He answered honestly.
There was a short awkward silence that followed.
“What’s takin y’all so long!?” AJ demanded, breaking the moment with a burst of anger. “And what in tarnation is this stuff!?”
“You really don’t want to know.” Ivan answered. “Just thank whatever divine being you worship that Twilight’s tree library is nearby.”
“...” AJ suddenly went pale, sinking slowly deeper and deeper into the substance until only her head remained exposed.
“Its poo... ain’t it?”
“Kara.” Ivan turned to his student.
“Yes doctor?” She looked to him, her face touched by a sickly pale tint.
“Be a dear and find a long stick or something similar in length so we can tow our reckless friend here out of...” He smiled slightly with amusement. “...that poo.”
“Damn you doc!” AJ growled. “When Ah get out of this mess here yer gonna regret that!”
Kara, hiding her own smile as best she could by biting the inside of her cheek, went off in search of a stick. Ivan and AJ were left alone then, sharing the moment by looking off in differing directions.
“So...” Ivan began with a straight face. “...you come here often?”
“Buck you!”
“Such a nice day were having...”
“Seriously doc!” AJ glowered warningly. “Ah’m not the violent sort... but Ah’m beginnin to reconsider!”
“One day we will look back on this and laugh.” Ivan supplied sagely. AJ groaned, her face entering a state of numb despair.
“Will this work?” Kara returned, lifting a wound up hose pipe from around her shoulder and dumping it down onto the ground beside Ivan.
“Perfect!” Ivan grinned. “And we can use it to hose her down after we get her out!” Applejack growled dangerously in responce.
Ivan stood upon his hind legs, unravelled the hose pipe and threw one end into the large mess, it landed right where AJ could reach it and she did so hurriedly, grasping at the end while struggling to keep her face above the goop.
“Alright.” Ivan nodded. “On two...”
“Who are ya talkin to?” AJ demanded. “Yer the only one pullin, just pull it already!”
“I’m sorry that I like to add atmosphere.” Ivan paused, delaying the rescue a second longer.
“DOC!!!”
Chuckling he tugged the hose, stepping back as he did, slowly pulling AJ face first through the horrible, horrible hellish muck. “Oh...” He grinned mischievously. “You should lift your head!”
AJ rumbled a retort though the muck cut it off.

Twilight frowned, looking up from her microscope with confusion as a thought entered her mind... Where was that hideous smell coming from? From above she heard the front door being opened, meaning someone had come back, she hoped it wasn’t Pinkamena, the thought of being alone with her was disturbing.
“We’re home!” Ivan pronounced, earning a sigh of relief from the unicorn. “And if you are wondering the smell is coming from Applejack!” He also added.
“Seriously Doc!” AJ almost yelled. “Ah’m warnin ya fer the last time!”
Twilight frowned and walked up the stairs from her lab to the main room, when she opened the door she almost gagged to death. “What in Tartarus is that!?” She choked her eyes watering, swearing which was rare.
“I told you.” Ivan shrugged, leaving the main room and heading down into the basement. “It’s Applejack, but don’t worry, we hosed her down enough so she wouldn’t drag any into your home.”
Twilight frowned and looked to AJ, who was seething with untold anger, looking to Kara Twilight asked. “What happened?”
Kara began to speak but was overridden by Pinkamena as she entered the library, closing the door behind her. “Applejack decided to take a swim in demon muck.” She answered in her cold soulless voice, the pink pony left them, following Ivan downstairs.
“Oh gross...” Twilight coughed, feeling light headed.
“Do ya mind if Ah use yer shower?” AJ sighed.
“I think you should take a bath.” Twilight answered. “A long one! And use the soap! Lots of soap!!!”
“What is that ghastly odor?” Rarity demanded, entering the room from the one above. “Oh My Goddess Applejack!!!” Rarity
gagged, shoving her snout into the knee of her foreleg. “Did you wade through a sewer!?”
“That’s more than one sewer...” Twilight answered shakily, feeling quite dizzy and completely out of sorts.
“Alright already Ah’m goin.” AJ grumbled, moving up the stairs to the bathroom, Rarity leapt over the edge of the stairs to avoid her. “An stop with all that nonsense!” She barked.
Once AJ was gone Twilight broke her boundaries and forced herself out of the front door, taking deep breaths of fresh air into her lungs to clear them out, she found Rarity beside her doing the same.
“That was...” Rarity began with a pained expression.
“...something else.” Twilight agreed with a firm nod.
Author's Note
We reap what we sow...
Sadly my scythe (metaphor for computer) is blunt, rusty, broken and hanging on by a thread, replying may take time if at all... yet I would appreciate any feedback, good or bad so long as some thought goes into it, one worded comments are fine.
I liked this prologue, it felt right.
Problems I Had: Setting it out in a way I'm not used to, I usually format my stories like printed books, separating each bit out felt awkward...
