Chapter 2 : Feeling of Freedom

The sun rose one fine morning in Cloudsdale. Aaron’s dad woke him up and took him outside of their cloudhome. His dad knew that the time has come for Aaron to be with the sky, time for him to feel what he had been waiting for a long time. His dad told Aaron to never give up no matter what happen, and with a smile, he took off into the sky and waited for the young Pegasus. Aaron’s mom will be watching from outside of their cloudhome. Feeling nervous and impatient at the same time, the young Pegasus took in a deep breath as he gazed at the distance. The wind, all of a sudden, became so inviting in its promise of flight and freedom, it gave one’s spirit the feeling to soar! Aaron spreads his wings wide and leaped off his cloudhome, and after months of practice and waiting, finally, he was able to carry himself with his wings in the clear blue sky for the first time. The young Pegasus was now very excited and happy, he beats his wings, taking him higher into the sky, feeling the wind against his face, and as soon as he reached high enough on a certain point in the sky, he could see a spectacular view of the magical land of Equestria around him. There was a feeling he felt, one that is so different for the first time, a feeling that he could not describe, it left him floating high up in the sky just staring at the horizon.

Suddenly, Aaron lost control of his wings, and he began to fall. His body was being flipped around by the strong wind that was blowing. He tried to flap his wings to balance himself, but his effort was futile. His dad was watching him from a distance on a cloud where he could dive in and save Aaron at any time, but he remained still at where he was and wanted the young Pegasus to try and get himself out of this kind of situation by himself. Aaron was in a panic state as he continued to struggle to control his body in the air. It seemed that he couldn’t do a thing and had almost given up. Suddenly, Aaron remembered what his dad said to him before taking off. From that thought, he also remembered his dream of becoming a great flier. If he fails to fly himself out of this situation, chasing his dreams would just be a waste of time.

With determination and confidence building up inside of the young Pegasus, Aaron closed his eyes, folded his wings, and tried to calm himself down. Using only the wind and gravity, he positioned himself to fall head first. He is now in a free fall and is controlling his body to not sway too much, just waiting for the right time to open his wings. He was also aware that he does not have much time as the ground is approaching fast. The young Pegasus had only one shot at this, and he cannot afford to fail. By now, Aaron’s mind was fully calm and relax. He was just waiting for that one strong wave of wind to come. The air was now calm and relax where suddenly, a strong wind began to blow. This is it. Aaron opened his eyes and spreads his wings as wide as he can and just remained open without flapping them. The wind flowed underneath of his wings and changed his fall into a curve, lifting the young Pegasus back up into the sky. As soon as his body was heading upwards, he beats his wings again, flying back into the sky. This time, Aaron is not afraid anymore. He went higher and beyond the point where he lost control of his wings. As he continued to go higher into the sky, a whole new world appeared before his eyes, a sea of clouds revealed itself and a part of his dream has been achieved. Feeling very happy to what just happened and what he just did, he immediately dashed towards his dad from above, giving him a big hug. His dad returned the hug with a huge smile that suddenly turns into a smirk. And unexpectedly, his dad playfully nudged Aaron off the cloud where they were standing on. Even by doing that, the young Pegasus managed to reposition himself in mid air and control his fall in just a second.

This time a lake was waiting below, and it is approaching fast, but his wings were still closed up. He decided to try to open his wings almost at the last second of the fall, brave enough to try something new. Even with full focus and concentration, Aaron released his wings a bit too early, but it was to ensure that he would be safe since it was only his first day flying. His fall swiftly changed into a horizontal flight as he glided above of the lake. His heartbeat was fast, and the adrenaline was pumping, all from the excitement and the joy of finally being able to fly. The young Pegasus laid his hoof above the surface of the lake, feeling the water rushing on his hoof as he laughed happily. He then pulled his body back, heading back into the sky and back to where his mom was waiting to give a hug. And that was the day where Aaron learned how to fly, and where his dream became one step closer.
