Hiding behind a smile

It was exactly 6:00 in the morning. Everypony was asleep, the sky was turning from dark blue to light purple, the sun still wasn't visible. The temperature in the air hasn't changed.

I took a deep breath as I took another look at Vinyl's front door, then slowly exhaled. "Ahh!" the pain in my chest returned, I started scratching the area with my fingernails to make it go away. I must have got this pain from last night when I was working on Vinyl's surprise... I mean it wasn't a cut or anything it just hurts whenever I touch it and now it seems I'm not allowed to even breath! Oh well, it doesn't matter...

Anyways... I'm standing outside of Vinyl's home, the plan is set, I have the potion with me, the room is waiting for her, everything is ready... now I just have to confront her.

I raised my right hand and made a fist and prepared to knock but decided to just hold it there...

I held a puzzled look as my eyes turned upwards and away from the door, turning my head towards the sky. I was looking at the upper window that was placed above the door but what's more is that there's light coming from inside the room!

VINYL IS UP? How can she be up?? She's depressed!

This isn't good, my prediction was wrong! Who knows what else I missed!

Ok... calm down Nate, there's no reason to abandon your plan over something as stupid as this... my target is awake and I haven't slept all night, but I'm still determined to take her away. And I WILL do it, it's what I promised myself!

I knocked really hard, then instantly regretted for knocking like that.

Nothing happened for some time. I wanted to knock again but a sound from the other side made me stop. It was Vinyl unlocking the door... or so I was hoping.

At most times she doesn't care how she acts around other ponies... but in a positive way of course. Everypony would always feel awkward around her at first but it's easy to get used to her strong character and you have to admit, it wouldn't be Ponyville with out her spirit... hmmm...

It's still weird to see her act like herself... I thought she was depressed! Why would Octavia lie to me?? In any case, I can't do anything to her now! I have to find out what's going on before I make any drastic moves!

Vinyl was laying on her stomach, facing me "Sorry about the weird welcome, I just haven't slept all night and I thought Octavia was onto me." she happily said.

She didn't sleep, that's a plus for me! What's more is that I'm in a position to ask her anything I like due to my reputation, I just have to play stupid as always.

"That's fine. So why are you awake at this hour?"

She pointed her hoof at me "Haha! Dude, I should be the pony asking you!" perfect! I was expecting that response.

I started scratching my head "Yeah sorry... I couldn't sleep knowing that you were... umm..."

Vinyl leaned towards me and raised her eye brow "Know what? Oh Celestia, please don't tell me Octavia..."

"Yea, she did." I interrupted her "It's just that we met yesterday and Octavia randomly brought up that you were feeling down so I came here to see if I could make you feel any better but... you don't seem depressed at all!"

Vinyl's smile faded "At this hour?"

"I... I just couldn't sleep... I care about you."

"Aww that's so sweet! Well... It's ok." there was a pause "I kinda lied to her"

I raised both of my eye brows when she said that. She repositioned herself and sat on the sofa like a human

"Yeah i'm the perfect lier" she said while tilting her head a bit and brought a hoof to her chin.

She continued "well actually... I was sad when I broke my turntable mixer so I told Octavia I wasn't going anywhere out until I fix it and that it would take days for me to fix it but i JUST - FIXED IT! She has absolutely no idea, hahahah!!"

Vinyl knows how to lie? And Octavia thinks Vinyl isn't going to leave their home until she gets back!? What an amazing surprise! I started grinning, this was going in the direction I wanted it to go!

"Oh so that's what the tools are for?" I asked her, pointing at the table

Vinyl nodded "mhm, it's also why I stayed up! I'm so happy now that I have my baby! I'll start going out as soon as I get my eight hours."

She glanced at the turntable mixer which was across the room. It was quite big, almost as big as my old desk in the living room but this thing was on wheels! Hmm... that should automatically make it light, right? There was also a big door on the side... this thing was giving me ideas

"Umm... what are the wheels for?" I asked

"The wheels are like pancakes for the turntable, they make it feel all happy and full of life," she replied sarcastically

"Haha!"

"They are for other ponies who don't have magic so they can easily push it around." she explained "When you have it where you want it you just click on the small plastic button and it locks in place."

"I see, and what is the door for?"

"That's where all..." she yawned "my... equipment goes. It's completely hollow which is a pain in the flank and I rarely use it so it's empty like 90% of the time"

I KNEW IT! This is perfect for what I'm thinking!!

I smiled "Well I'm just glad to see you're your usual self"

she sighed "Yeah but I'm wiped out! My body is asleep and I'm..." she yawned again "actually enjoying... sitting like this" she slowly closed her eyes, drifting off into her dreams.

She fell asleep, this is the opportunity I was waiting for! Now I have the chance to make her drink the potion!

I slowly got up making sure not to wake the sleeping mare and made my way into the kitchen and started looking for two big glasses. I found a couple of them right beside the kitchen sink!

I reached out into my jacket and took out the potion. I poured ordinary tap water into one glass and poured the potion into another. It was pure luck that the potion looked exactly like water!

I grabbed the glasses and walked back to the room where Vinyl was asleep. I pushed the tools with my left elbow making sure none of them would fall and put down the potion filled glass and then I sat on the small comfy sofa making a noise.

"Umm.... Nate?" Vinyl wiped her eyes with her hooves, trying to wake up "Oh I'm so sorry for falling asleep!! That was - SO rude of me!"

"Vinyl?" I smiled at her "It's fine! You've been up all night fixing the turntable mixer and besides, it's my fault for showing up"

"BAH!" She turned to me with a neutral expression crossing her arms, her eyes were half closed in annoyance "You're such an optimist!"

I said "I... brought us some water..." while raising my right hand, showing her my glass "you looked kinda thirsty."

She closed her eyes and talked very slowly as if she was about to tell me some very bad news "Oh, you really shouldn't have" but then in less then a second she got up, grabbed the glass and sat back on the sofa and smiled "But thank you very much!" then went to drink it.

"Vinyl, wait!" I stopped her and raised my glass towards her and said "Cheers!"

"HAHA!" Vinyl laughed as her glass made contact with mine "You're such an human!"

"-A- human" I corrected her and started drinking.

I took a look at Vinyl once I was done with my glass, she wasn't drinking. Instead, she was sniffing it  "Ahh man"

"What is it Vinyl?"

"Not sure but... does this water smell funny to you?" OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!

"Let me see it." I grabbed her glass with my left hand and took a sniff and then looked at her with an annoyed look "Vinyl... it's just water"

"But it's somehow different..."

I was raging deep inside but on the outside I kept smiling "God... you're so silly sometimes!" I look a big sip to prove to her it's just ordinary water "It's just water you silly pony!" I smiled as I gave her back her glass.

There was silence after that. I watched her look down at the glass in her hooves, I waited for her to drink it and for the potion to work... it was my only chance!

Finally, she started drinking! She drank every last drop in a blink of an eye!

"Ok... now that - MADE me thirsty!" she said

I got up "I'll get you another glass" I replied and took the glass out of her hoof

"Don't bother Nate, I got this." she readjusted her pose on the sofa.

Oh no, this isn't good, she mustn't drink water right after drinking a freaking potion! I need to convince her to let me get it for her!

"Vinyl, you just rest and let me..."

"Dude! Who's the guest here? Me or you?" she interrupted my speech.

The glasses floated away from my hands "Surface, sit!" she ordered me while playfully wearing an 'angry' smile.

I had no choice... "As you wish, Scratch."

The glasses started hovering towards the kitchen while Vinyl just sat there ponylike on the sofa swinging her tail. I sat back on the little sofa and heard the tap turning on and water pouring into the two glasses.

I started getting head pressure... it was because Vinyl was using her magic and I didn't drank the potion before coming here! She can still use her magic, I know the potion can't work instantly since I took a sip not long ago and was still getting head pressure... but that didn't stop me from doubting it will work on ponies... or wait... have I somehow switched the glasses by mistake?

The both of us remained silent, I can't say I was as comfortable as Vinyl was. To her it seemed like bringing a glass of water to a good friend. To me it was a life changing opportunity! But if she doesn't, and drinks water right after drinking a potion... I'm pretty sure I'll have to take her to the hospital, the worst part would be explaining how she managed to drink MY potion... oh fuck! What do I do??

I was looking at her, she was so relaxed and so happy... she had no idea what I was thinking! I just hope her magic stops working, it's the ONLY thing that can save me now!

My head pressure was slowly going away as the potion took effect but Vinyl was still bringing the glasses into the room with her magic!

SHIT! If this doesn't work I'll need to look for other ways to make her stop using her magic... but I already know I wont get another chance like this! I NEED HER NOW!!!

My train of thought was broken by a sound of a glass shattering.

"Horse apples!!" Vinyl shouted.

I grinned and quickly turned around to see what happened, turns out Vinyl dropped the glasses of water and spilled water all over the floor. I was so relieved, the sight made me burst out laughing loud enough for my chest to start hurting again.

"Are you laughing!?"

I then turned to Vinyl... while still laughing.

"Hey! Why in Equestria are you laughing?" she was catching onto me.

I sat there on the wet floor speechless with my mouth open, after a while I said "But she never showed or gave me any signs that she likes me. How can you be so sure?"

I broke eye contact and looked down "I-I mean she IS nice to me... but I don't feel like she like likes me..."

Vinyl continued cleaning "Look, Dash is really good at hiding her true feelings but in the end she always gets busted. It's only a matter of time before you two end up together!" she winked.

Can it really be true? All my life I thought I would never get anywhere with Rainbow Dash but now somepony here is telling me all I have to do is just walk up to her and say 'I like you'...

"I think there's still some tiny glass on the floor!"

I got up on my feet and started walking towards the kitchen where the duck tape was at. I passed Vinyl, glancing at her. Besides, I can't have a hyperactive pony like her walking with me to my place at this hour. She would wake somepony up, can't have that.

My eyes were holding in tears, my face was turning red, I couldn't breath, I couldn't move, I couldn't even think about Vinyl! All I wanted to do right now was to eliminate this terrible pain. I fell on my felt shoulder and curled up into a ball, I managed to find very light breaths, taking breaths twice a second.

The pain wasn't going away but I was trying to at least focus on what was right in front of me. It was Vinyl! She was crawling outside of her room... wanting to get help! We glanced at each other, her pupils were very small from the extreme fear. In just a few moments she passed me and now kept crawling away from me.

"SOMEPONY HELP ME!!! ANYPONY!!! PLEASE HEEEELP!!!" she screamed her lungs out.

I have to stop her otherwise I'm finished! But... I can't move! I just... can't fucking move! If I was smarter I would have seen this coming... no... it was impossible to see Vinyl throwing a fucking book at me! A FUCKING BOOK SAVED HER!!! Can't let it end like this!

I was pissed, rage was taking over but the pain wasn't fading away. I gathered my strength and started turning myself around the floor by pressing my legs on the wall. I couldn't move my arms because it would only increase the pain. I glanced at Vinyl, she was almost at the other end of the hallway, I panicked and pushed myself from the wall as far as I could.

I was now laying on my left shoulder, pressing my chest with my left palm and holding my left shoulder with my right hand. My head was on the floor and my legs were now useless since I wasn't near the walls anymore... my breathing was stabilizing but other than that, I'm stick!

"A PSYCHO IS TRYING TO RAPE ME!!! ANYPONY I BEG YOU!!! HELP ME!!!" Vinyl shouted.

I have no choice but to use my arms and crawl to her! I let go of my shoulder and moved my right arm and tried pulling myself forward. I managed to pull myself a little bit but the pain kicked in and I had to grab my shoulder again. Vinyl was getting away and I was just laying there in the floor... thinking...

That's it! It's not the arms that's the problem, it's the breathing! When I was laughing at Vinyl the pain started kicking in and before that I got it when I was outside of her home... I didn't move my arms that time!

I exhaled completely expecting more pain to come but nothing happened that time, I let go of my shoulder again and started crawling towards the bitch.

It was working, I was moving! I gasped for air and continued to crawl for a short time before being interrupted by the severe pain again! Fuck! I didn't exhale that time, what gives!? Wait...

I tried to calm down and forget about Vinyl and everything around me, I closed my eyes and started quickly experimenting. I inhaled and held it there... nothing happened for two seconds and then my chest started hurting again. It seems like it doesn't hurt as mush as when my arms were stretched out.

Alright... I exhaled, literally nothing happened. So the pain kicks in every time I inhale but there's a short delay! I know what to do now!

I inhaled and exhaled, waited for the pain to appear and disappear before letting go of my chest and started using both of my arms to crawl towards my slave! I wasn't breathing, it didn't hurt so badly anymore and I was much more faster this way! Whenever I need to take a breath I just stop moving, grab my chest, take a breath and keep moving when the pain goes away.

I was catching up to Vinyl, she was only meters away from me! I started grinning, I knew I was going to win!!

I grabbed her right hoof with my left hand, this way she can't kick me

"NO! GET AWAY!!" she shouted

I climbed onto her back making sure she couldn't move and put both of my hands around her mouth so she would shut up.

"Gotcha." I whispered

"Mmmhh!! Mmphhhmmm!!!" Vinyl cried out

I closed my eyes and finally started breathing normally, her front hooves were keeping the pain away. I started sniffing her pony fur and licked her left ear just to creep her out. I felt a wet sensation on my hands, it was Vinyl, crying her eyes out.

After a while I was sure she wasn't going anywhere and I felt much better so I got up and went into the kitchen for another glass. I poured the rest of the potion in it then looked for some sleeping pills and a funnel.

"What are you thinking!!? No good can come from this!!" I heard Vinyl shout

I said "Ah there they are!" I found the sleeping pills.

I crushed every single pill and mixed it into the potion, grabbed the funnel and started walking towards Vinyl.

"Nate please! Don't do this!" she begged me, I rolled her again and sat on her stomach

"PLEASE!! Why are you doing thi-his!?"

"Holy shit just shut the fuck up already!!" I shouted at her

"HELP!!! HELP ME!!!"

I put down the funnel and the glass, making a fist with my right hand I punched her directly in the snout!

She started crying her lungs out after that one, I checked my fist then looked at the crying mare, there was no blood... good!

I grabbed her chin and forced the funnel down her throat and slowly poured the mix into the funnel, she couldn't do anything but to except every last drop of the mix going down her throat.

She was snuffling the whole time and once she drank all of it she started moaning. I waited for her to fall asleep before removing the funnel from her mouth. Her snout was causing her extreme pain, she was getting weak and quiet...

I spoke to her "Vinyl," she looked at me with those big teary eyes "when you wake up you will be in for a big surprise." I was grinning at the sight of the poor mare closing her eyes.

I continued "Exposing myself to you is nothing, just wait till you see what I built for you."

I wasn't sure if she heard that last part, she was already asleep! No surprise there since she pulled an all-nighter.

Later I checked her place for anything I missed, took the old box full of trance albums and put it inside the turntable mixer next to Vinyl. She was sleeping, her front and back legs were now all tied together as well as her mouth.

Just as planned, I left at about 6:50 when nopony was still up. There couldn't have been any witnesses. Even if someone saw me, I wouldn't have looked suspicious because I avoided looking around, instead I seemed like my usual self, relaxed and happy... and I truly was happy!

The hardest part of my plan was successfully derived and soon... very soon... it is all about to pay off!
