Humble acceptanceView OnlineCalypso's nymphHumble acceptance "Daddy!!!!!" she screeched through the mountainous rug. Derpy clawed her way up the stairs, despite the pain in her hip and the blood soaking her dandelion hair. Tears blinded her groggy view of her father brutally attacking her mother. She couldn't close her eyes to the sight of her mother being viciously sodomized, her yelps of excruciating pain and agony. Derpy yanked harder and harder on the jagged steps, finally making it to the wooden floor. Her eyes could barely make out the scene, her ears failing her as well. She felt herself falling to a deep sleep, but the levels of adrenaline refused this. Through wet eyes she rushed to the fireplace. She grabbed hold of a sharp decoration, with nothing but the desire for simplicity in her mind. Letting out a scream louder than her mothers, the distraught foal struck her target. Through the wetness in her eyes, she could see a foggy red mist clouding the surface, and two confused ovals staring at her. With her intention ready, her eyes slowly gave out and she heard nothing but an angelic voice say "D-Derpy..." The gray pegasus nervously trotted down the green fields to her schoolhouse, trying to drown the memories in her head with blissful daydreams. Feeling a bit sub-conscious about being a "blank-flank", she would become hesitant and contemplate going home. She wished she could run back and just be in the comfort of her mom, but she knew it was not an option with Delphaline's catatonic state. But Derpy had many reasons to fear attending the academy; she was bullied incessantly for her different ways. The other ponies would mock the position of her eyes and call her "idiot", "moron," "stupid bitch", "ugly whore", "worthless slut", names you'd find ridiculously unfair. Derpy's torture was inexcusable, but she fought through for her mother, her sister, and herself. Derpy entered the chatter-filled classroom with cartwheels in her stomach. The whole class fell silent in her presence. She slowly walked over to her seat, feeling as though her skin was being burned through by the vicious looks of the ponies. Derpy always felt like an outcast, for she was the only pegasus in the classroom. Pegasi were not taken kindly to in this town. "There's the blank-flank bitch and her cross-eyes," said Asher, the school bully. His mane was a dark asparagus and his coat maroon, with hateful and beady eyes that could kill anyone with a single look. Derpy felt condemned to have to sit in the middle of the classroom, but she knew Mr. Mushrouxm didn't care too much for her needs. "Settle down, class, today we have an important lesson to learn today," the intimidating Equuleus announced. The class rolled their eyes and brought out pencils. Derpy didn't realize how bright she was; Mr. Mushrouxm noticed how well she did on her homework and exams, but he felt quite threatened by her. He was very proud, and didn't take kindly to gifted students who obviously knew more than him. He taught the ponies about the physics of trotting. Derpy had no problem; some considered her slow, but she understood more than they wanted. The whole class had difficulty understanding the worksheet, while Derpy seemed to fly through the whole paper. The instructor noticed her not working while the others had exasperated facial expressions, so he went over to see what was up. "Ms. Hooves, explain why you aren't working." Mr. Mushrouxm asked sternly. Derpy slightly jumped at his presence, and she slowly lifted the paper to his hoof. The teacher rudely swiped it out of her hand, indicating unwanted dominance. The professor's eyes widened with shock and his head was boggled by the sight. Derpy worked every problem flawlessly; she did everything the way he asked and got every answer right. "Der...Derpy...Derpy Hooves, did you, by any chance, copy off students while they worked?" the pony yelled in fury. Every pony stopped suddenly to enjoy the drama. Derpy cowered in fear, for she knew she was going to be reprimanded. "How dare you steal the work of these hardworking ponies! They try so hard to truly learn, and you just take credit for their effort! You theif! You pest! You idiot simpleton!!" The teacher knew very well Derpy had done the work herself, but he loved to humiliate the student who made him feel so ashamed. "I will alert your parents and reveal this outrage. No student of mine has ever attempted such a sin, so I should expect this from you! A retarded, ugly mistake for a scholar! Leave my classroom now, you...you selfish, unworthy pegasus!!!" The horse screeched at the little pony. Fighting back treacherous tears, Derpy slowly picked up her things and walked out of the classroom. Not even the brutal beatings of her father, the cruel stares of strangers everywhere she went, the relentless bullying she received had ever made her feel so ashamed. Derpy was a hard-working honors student, she liked school. She loved to learn, it was one of her many talents that she was not yet aware of. How could he accuse her of something so ridiculous? She broke out in soft weeps and continued to walk home, as thunder pounded in her ear.
EscapeView OnlineCalypso's nymphEscape "Dinky!!! Derpy's home!!" Derpy called to her baby. She paced into the cottage, hoping not to wake her sleeping sister. She saw her mother resting on the plush sofa, a blank expression washing out her gorgeous face. Derpy placed her book bag on the coat hanger and walked over to the baby room. Dinky had just woken up with a smile on her face, surprised at the sight of her favorite person. She motioned for Derpy to come towards her, and Derpy did just that. The two sisters were best friends, but Derpy knew they only had each other. Knowing that dropping out of the academy was her only decision, she kept a smile on her face and remembered who she had. Her mom lay still and paralyzed, an obvious sign of her severe depression. Derpy had no idea what to do about Delphaline's pain. She figured the best thing to do was to let her rest and think to herself, yet Derpy could sense that being alone was killing her. But what could she do? Derpy was equally traumatized with what happened to her, and what she had done. Derpy began warming a bottle of milk for Dinky, when she heard the same angelic voice that sung to her as an infant weakly ask "D...Derpy...is that you?" "Derpy looked over to see the stunning, red-rimmed eyes of her mother peering at her with hurt flooding them. "How was school, darling?" The pegasus asked. Derpy placed Dinky on the baby swing and walked over to hug Delphaline. "Good, mommy. How was your day?" She asked quietly. Delphaline grabbed Derpy's hoof and held it close. "Sweetheart, how I could I be? I've been forcing you to raise Dinky for months while I sat here feeling sorry for myself." She responded with tears stroking her silver skin. "After that day- "Mommy, don't mention it. It hurts you." Derpy blurted. Delphaline swallowed and pulled her daughter closer. "After he...raped...me...I became a fool. I let him win." she said, choking on tears. Derpy fought to hold them back herself, remembering what she had done. "We can't let that bastard win, we have each other." Delphaline assured herself. Derpy swiped her hand away from mother Hooves and ran to the corner. "Mom, please stop reminding me!! I killed him, alright?! I finished him! He can't win anything now!" Derpy yelled frustratingly. Delphaline looked at her daughter skeptically as the words seeped into her mind. "Derp, he's in the hospital. That's what you told me." She told her angered child. Derpy's tears were uncontrollable as she faced her mother. "Mom, he...died on the...spot. I was in...in a state of shock the moment...I did...it. I couldn't bear to see him do that to you. After years and years of abuse, I just didn't know what to do. It's like a hidden person inside of me just went for it, but I didn't know I was the one doing it. I could almost see that person doing it, but I thought I was just watching. The hatred I had just seeped out of my skin and poisoned the better part of me." Derpy answered through choked sobs. Delphaline rose from the sofa, anger and confusion boggling her thoughts. Derpy ran over to get comfort from little Dinky. "Where did you bury him, Derpy Hooves?" Her mother asked her furiously. Derpy wiped her tears and tried to ignore Delphaline, but the grown pegasus became outraged. "Answer me, you murderer." Derpy couldn't believe her ears. The rain fell harder and harder as Derpy's heart grew colder. "He's in the sugar plum river, mother. His blood contaminated the water. that's why it's considered toxic now." She shyly answered. Delphaline's confused emotions made her lose control. She screeched like an ultrasound message. Derpy's ears rang as she witnessed her mothers breakdown. The world was almost silent, and Derpy prayed she would just fall dead. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS, DERPY?? WHY?? HOW COULD YOU RUIN YOURSELF LIKE THIS??" Delphaline yelped. She fell to the wooden floor in vibrating agony. Derpy swiped Dinky in her arms and headed for the door, tears blinding her once again. "GO!! GO, GO LIKE YOUR SELFISH FATHER!! YOU'RE BOTH THE SAME!! YOU BOTH DESPISE ME!!! GO, YOU MISTAKE!!!" Delphaline cried as Derpy escaped.
A Crystal LightView OnlineCalypso's nymphA Crystal Light Heavy raindrops smacking her tired head, Derpy cried softly as Dinky cried in fear. Derpy had walked for hours and hours with a heavy heart. She took a few moments to rest on an uninhabited mountain while the storm swept the town. Darkness shadowed her little frame, and she could see nothing but the golden hair of her suffering sister. Derpy knew she had failed, and they would both surely die before the morning came, She cried harder and harder, begging to know why she was chosen to end this way. She made a final death wish as the water fell faster. She wished that if she were to die, Dinky would find a way out. The rain began to lighten up, but Derpy was still weak from her long journey. Tears still fell from her weak eyes, and her sister was still in pain. Derpy considered ending her own life if they rain didn't. She lifted her head to view her surroundings when a shining light approached her. Her sight was still foggy as the light came closer and closer, but Derpy couldn't turn away. The light appeared to be a beautiful, prominent bubble. She saw her flawless face in the distorted reflection, the colors reflected by her own gray hue. She rose with Dinky in her arms while three more bubbles followed that single one. The beauties turned into an army of heroes, as if they called to Derpy and were fighting to get her attention. Derpy decided to follow the glimmer firing in her heart, and she walked towards the glowing bubbles. The circular stars surrounded her the closer she got, revealing more color as she became stronger. Dinky fell in love with the sight and began to play with the angels. Derpy walked faster and faster, her soul becoming ablaze with happiness. The bubbles did have a purpose; they led her to something so wonderful, something that was worth the pain she took. The night was illuminated by the fierce lights of a glittering city, so filled with life and creation. Tears came to Derpys eyes and the bubbles flew above her. She instantly felt that this was what she should live for; raising Dinky in this land. Suddenly, Derpy felt a warm tingling on her left hip. She glanced over to see amazing bubbles form on her. She had finally recieved her cutie mark; a symbol of her strength and survival. She excitedly jumped down the vast hill, the friendly bubbles leading the way. The city was much better in person. Every sight and every pony were filled with joy and kindness. Many turned their heads at her while greeting her and telling her how beautiful she and her sister were. Derpy never felt happier, and she instantly knew this was her home. She continued to explore the town with a large smile and the giggles of her baby sister. The duo's curiosity increased with every step; the farther they got, the more astonishing it was! Little shops filled with pastries and scents, stores were flooded with dapper women being shined on by rainbow lights. Derpy had never seen anything more eye-pleasing, until six of the most beautiful horses she had ever seen came her way. One was cerulean with rainbow hair and eyes like a leader. Another was sunny and had hair like hers. Another was orchid with a lovely horn, and she had the face of a wise genius. Another was strikingly gorgeous with a snowy coat and gem-purple hair. A shy one with a lovely, piggy pink quaff smiled at the group. The excited earth pony was bubblegum pink with adorably messy hair. Derpy longed to join them. She continued to walk past them when the pink one screeched "HEY!!! CUTIE WITH THE BABY!!! GET OVER HERE!!!" Derpy noticed they were calling for her, so she jumped over to see them. "What a gal! This sugarcube is quite the sight to see!" Noted the pretty orange one. The rainbow mare walked to the pegasus with a friendly attitude. "Hey, new girl! What's your name?" She asked sweetly, but with a hint of composure. Derpy jumped and said "Derpy! This is my sister, Dinky!" She cheered. The group huddled around and began introducing themselves. "Rainbow Dash! Coolest pony ever, just by 20%." Said the Rainbow. " Twilight Sparkle! Nice to meet you!" Said the purple horse. "Rarity, pleasure, darling!" Said the snow-white one. "Applejack, how you doin'?" Said the apple-cutiemark one. "Uh...Flu...Fluttershy...Happy to meet you." Said the shy one kindly. "Pinkie Pie! Who else??" Screamed the one on speed. The group continued to converse with Derpy, getting to love her more and more. Derpy never did figure out how the bubbles came her way, but she didn't care. The gift they brought her made her vaguely aware of that. The day she discovered Ponyville, she realized that they were the blessing she needed in her life. The past was gone; this was her future. She didn't care if the bubbles were brought by a hidden creature or magic, the only magic she cared for was friendship. Like Derpy, we'll all find the bubbles that lead us to our fairy tale. If a little mare can fight through unexplained pain and see a better world, what's a humans excuse?
