The Fall of Atlantis. The First Bombs
I quickly woke up from my short sleep. I grabbed my head as I heard a ringing. My eyes quickly adjusted to the dark room. I looked to the door, as two ponies in armor where standing guard. Something was wrong when I was sleeping. It felt like someone was in my head probing for information. It was a weird feeling.
I push the blanket off of me. I slide over and got up from the bed. I made my way to the door. As I tried to open the door. The guards stopped me.
"We are instructed to keep an eye on you. You are not allowed to leave this room."
"Excuse me?" I said while bringing my hand back from the door.
"You are not allowed to leave this room." The guard tried to intimidate me with his looks.
"Look buddy. All I want to do is to get some fresh air. That is all... If it makes you feel any better. You can go outside with me." I tried to reason with them.
"You are not leaving." The guard pointed. "You have a window over there. You can get all the fresh air you need from that."
I turned to look at the window. I make my way over slowly. I see that I am on the first floor. I opened the window and thought. Could it be this easy? I have only seen two guards by the door. They might have more around outside. I had to take my chances. A small room like this. I might hurt the bandaged pony over there. I knew I had to be quick. I took a deep breath and relaxed.
I exhaled and looked back at the guards. I gave them a smile as they looked at me. I looked back at the window and slowly placed my hands edge. I quickly jump up; placing both of my feet on the windowsill. I leaned forward and pushed off with my legs. I quickly turn my head to a loud cracking noise. It was then I realized. I put way too much force behind my jump. The windowsill snapped in half; sending me into the bushes.
I got up as quick as I could and ran off as fast as I could. I heard yelling behind me. I turned to look and I saw three of them were pursuing me. I was impressed that they were able to fly as fast as they did with that armor, but I was still pulling away slowly. I knew I had to find a place to hide quickly. I didn't get any sleep. On top of that; I was still exhausted when that purple glow surrounded my arms and legs.
I continued to look around to find a hiding spot, as I ran around. I looked back as I ran and saw they were gaining on me. I decided to make my way to an open spot. I found an open area and stopped running. They quickly surrounded me on 3 sides. They pointed their spears at my head. The spears where about 3 feet away from me. I slowly brought my hands up towards my head.
"You are under arrest! Don't move!" The guard behind me said.
"Are you sure you want to go down this road?" I continued to bring my hands closer to my head. The guards also came closer with the spears.
"Silence! Prisoners are not allowed to talk." They continued to move in closer.
"I am not a prisoner is I am not caught yet..." The guards started to laugh.
"You are caught! You have no place to go... Now get on the ground!" By now there weapons where about five inches from my head.
I start to tense my muscles so they would be ready for a quick reaction. I took another deep breath and looked to my right then my left. I quickly grabbed the metal part that connected the spear to the stick. I swung both sticks down while bending the metal upwards. Both spear tips broke off as the guard in front of me lunged his spear. I brought my leg up to kick his spear. I was hoping no knock it out of his grasp, but my legs where too weak at this point. I quickly charge the guard with the spear.
"Enough!" A deafening tone echoed throat the town.
All four of us stopped and looked at the situation we were in. I was standing in front of the guard on his right side. With one spear tip an inch away from his throat. The other two guards had their broken sticks pointed at my back.
"What is going on here!?" I looked to see a deep blue horse landing a couple of feet away from us. "Tell me!" She yelled in a deafening roar.
"P-Princess Luna. We were chasing after this prisoner. Then he attacked us as you just saw."
"Explain." She turned to me. I dropped my weapons as I turned to her. I had to think quickly, or I am going to be in a lot of trouble.
"Hello Princess Luna. My name is Jacob. I was resting in the hospital. I awoke with a strange feeling. I simply wanted to go out on a nightly jog for the fresh air. Then these guards chased me down. I was only acting in self defense. Nothing more." I awaited for a response.
"Princess he is lying! We told him he was not allowed to leave the room and he did anyway." The guard fired back in his defense.
"Princess. At no point was I told that I was a prisoner. They were simply blocking my path and I denied the request he gave me. They told me they were only going to keep an eye on me. I offered them to walk with me and they denied my invitation." I looked at the guard as Luna did also.
"But... He attacked us." The guard was clearly panicking.
"I attacked only in self defense. I was unarmed and was not a threat until they had weapons in my face."
"Leave him." Luna said to the guards.
"Yes Princess." The three guards picked up what was left of their weapons and flew back in the direction of the hospital.
"Jacob. I am going to ask you to follow me to the hospital." Princess Luna started to walk.
"Alright." I started to walk beside the Princess. "Can I be so bold to ask why?"
"My sister and I have questions. Questions that only you can answer."
"Fair enough. I am guessing your sister is Princess Celestia?" I asked
"Indeed." Luna smiled.
"So what can I expect for tomorrow? I am not going to have any problems with the incident I just had am I?" I waited for an answer.
"No. You will be fine."
"That's a relief." I walked in front of Princess Luna to open the door. "After you." I watched as she went in. "Am I still going to be under guard?"
"I will fix that now." Luna turned to the guards in the lobby. "Jacob is not a prisoner. You are to stand guard outside of his room. Make sure no one enters to harm him. If he has a request; you will follow it with no questions asked." The princess said firmly. "Do you understand?..."
"Y-Yes Princess Luna." The guards said simultaneously.
"Now Jacob." She turned to me. "Have a good night sleep. I will help you with your memories tomorrow." When she said that. Something clicked.
"That was you when I was sleeping."
"Yes." She nodded.
"Please don't do that again." I tried to say with respect.
"As you wish. I will wait for you to be ready." I watched as the Princess walked out of the hospital.
"Well fellas. I had a nice workout. I hope you did too. I am going to go to sleep. Be sure you do the same." I gave them a smile.
"Yes sir." I was surprised they responded to that.
I walked into room two and looked at the window. I walked to the window and tried to shut it, but It was too damaged to shut.
"Well that's just great..." I looked over to the bandaged pony. "Sorry about the cold air. Next time I am going to have to think things through." I walked over to my bed and grab the blanket. "Sorry for waking you up so late." I walk over to the pony and spread my blanket over it. "Let's try to get some sleep now shall we?" I make my way back in my bad and curled up to go to sleep.
"Jacob. Hey Jacob... Wake up." I heard a familiar voice say. "Wake up..." I felt a poking in my back.
"Ya... I'm up..." I open my eyes to see Derpy looking right into my eyes. "Good morning Derpy. What brings you to my cozy bed?"
"I just came to say good morning!" Derpy gave me a big smile. "Where is your blanket Jacob?" Derpy cocked her head.
"Well I had a problem last night, so I gave my buddy over there my blanket." I pointed to the pony in the bed across the room. I could tell he was smiling underneath his bandages.
"Well that was kind of you." She gave me another smile.
"So Derpy... You hungry? I know I am." I gave her a smile.
"Am I!? I sure am!" She jumped around in circles.
"I am hungry too. What would you like?"
"Muffins!" She was quick to reply.
"That sounds good. Hold on a second." Derpy quickly grabbed my arm. "What are you doing?"
"You said to hold on. So I am holding on to you." She smiled.
"Why don't you sit on the bed. I will get someone to bring us some muffins." Derpy quickly got off my arm and laid down on my bed. "One second." I walk over to the door and open it. "Excuse me... Guard... Me and my friends are getting a little hungry. Can you get us ten muffins please."
"Yes sir!" I watch him as he walked off.
"Alright Derpy. The muffins are on the way." I look at my roommate. "I will be saving some for you too."
"Muffins!" Derpy yelled as I laughed.
"I hope the guard hurries. Luna might be here any second now. So Derpy. how are you today?"
"I am fine! Never better!" She flaps her wings and smiled.
I walked over to what was left of the window. I watch as the guard was quickly flying back to the hospital. Shortly after I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in!" I watched as the door opened.
"Your muffins sir."
"Muffins!" Derpy quickly jumped off the bed and rushed the guard. She was too fast for the guard. Derpy was on the bed again, before the guard realized the bag wasn't in his grip. "One for you!" Derpy placed a muffin on the desk for the bandaged pony. "And one for you Jacob!" Derpy tossed me a muffin. "And the rest for me!" Derpy smiled and flapped her wings.
"Thanks Derpy." I laughed and took a bite of the muffin. I looked at the door as it opened. "Morning Princess Celestia."
"Good morning Jacob." I watched as Luna shortly followed
"Good morning Princess Luna." I gave her a smile.
"Good morning Jacob. Are you ready?"
"Yes. What would you like me to do?" I asked
"I need you to lay down and relax."
"Okay." I walked to the bed. "Hey Derpy. Can I have my bed back?" I watched as she was eating a muffin. She quickly hopped off the bed. "Thanks Derpy." I gave her a smile and laid on the bed. "Ready when you are."
"Now close your eyes Jacob." I closed my eyes. "Relax." I felt a sharp pain on my forehead and I went limp.
I awoke gasping for air. I looked around the room. As I found nothing out of the ordinary. I got up out of bed. I get dressed and make my way out in the hall.
"Jacob!" I turn to the voice.
"Hey Siphonei." I gave her a smile. "Can you get me into the hanger today? My contact in the military got his hands on a fighter for me."
"Ya. Most of the military are up in the northern sector of the city. They are going to watch the Ascension Project take off. Are you going to go?"
"I hope so... I got up early just to finish my work. At the very least I can watch it from the hanger right?" I rubbed the back of my neck.
"I hear a lot from Atlantis Special Forces. This is something that no one should miss." She smiled.
"I know. I hear the same thing." I raise my right hand. "Why don't you walk with me. I am going to the hanger now."
"Alright." She nodded.
"So you have your ear to the ground. Tell me what you know about our new alien friends." I asked.
"Well I don't have all of the details, but they say they want to give us there knowledge. I would assume we are getting some more trade partners." Siphonei smiled.
"It's a little odd. Have they sent out a messenger party yet?"
"No. They are keeping a tight group together. The only reason out military sees them as no threat. Is because they sent us a message. They told us everything about the fleet they travel in and why they are here."
"So why are they coming here?" I asked.
"I was told they wanted to exchange knowledge. That's it."
"I would love to see what they can offer us. I know they will love the stuff we have here. The culture, our history and our wealth. It's a lot to take in." I smiled as the intercom system interrupted.
"Launching of the Ascension Project will commence in thirty minutes."
"Well I don't think I am going to make it." I said.
"It's alright. Like you said. You are going to have a clear view from the hanger right?"
"Ya, but I wanted to see it up close." I watched as Siphonei opened the entrance to the hanger for me. "Thanks. I am going to be getting this done today. So this will be the last time." Siphonei followed me in the hanger and walked up to my fighter.
"So Jacob... What is your plan for this?" Siphonei ran her hand across the hull as she walked around my ship. "The council has banned you from making your teleporter, so why disobey them?"
"Because I believe that this will help us in our next stage of evolution. Not only that, but the new engine I made. It is for insurance. I made it so only I would know how to rebuild it." I smiled. "If they throw me in prison. They will never find out how to make my dark matter engine."
"That is very narrow minded Jacob..." Siphonei looked at me as my stomach growled. "Are you hungry?"
"Ya." I put my hand over my stomach. "I guess I was in a hurry this morning, so I skipped getting food."
"I will go get you something to eat." She smiled. "Oh! Better yet! They have a lot of food for the party up north. I can get you some good food for the launching party."
"That would be nice, but you will miss the launch." I put my hand over the DNA scanner to open the rear hatch of the fighter.
"That's alright. I can watch it with you here." Siphonei quickly rushed out.
I watched Siphonei run out of the hanger. I has to inspect the ship today. I was going to do my first test flight. I first started by walking around the outside of the ship. I inspected every scratch and chip of paint. I then had to inspect the outside of the glass. The last thing i needed was a crack in the window. This was an outdated model as it is. As i finished my inspection on the outside. The intercom blared loud.
"Launching of the Ascension Project will commence in ten minutes."
I quickly ran into the fighter and closed the rear hatch. I made my way to the cockpit.
"Computer. Scan the hull for any breach. Also run tests on the engine. I need to know if the power output in constant." a screen quickly popped up on the window showing the scans progress.
I went in the rear compartment to do a once over my teleporter. I inspected the plugs and the power cells. I had to make absolutely sure that it can handle the raw power from the engine. The last thing I needed to do was to form a black hole outside of earth atmosphere. That would ruin my day. I turned to the cockpit as I heard a knocking on the window. It was Siphonei; she had a bag in her hand and she was holding up three fingers.
"Hold on." I held my finger up to notion her to hold on. I quickly make my way to the cockpit and look over the scan results. As the scans where okay. I gave Siphonei a thumbs up. I walked back and opened the rear hatch.
"Hurry Jacob! We only have two more minutes before the launch!" Siphonei grabbed my hand and pulled me to a ladder.
"Ladies first." I motioned he to go first. She smiled and handed me the food. "You better hurry! I don't want to miss anything! If I do I am blaming you!" I follow her up the ladder.
"Come on! you don't have to be such a jerk..." She quickly cleared the ladder and made her way on the ledge. I followed quickly behind her.
"You know... It not that bad of a day to watch this." I leaned against the guard rails. "Blue skies, no clouds. This planet beats our old one hands down."
"You didn't like our home planet?" Siphonei asked while she stood next to me.
"Nope. The blue skies here are beautiful. I never liked the red hue our skies had. I bet our sun had a big role in that."
"It's only been about a hundred years since we left. Did you get use to this planet that fast?" Siphonei asked in confusion.
"Ya. I guess I did. I am not too comfortable with the natives here, but they are letting us stay." I smiled. "All in all it's a great planet and I am glad we found it."
"Shh... Something is happening." Siphonei pointed to the north part of the city. "Watch."
We watched as the hanger doors opened. They slowly raised up from the ground into the air.
"Wow... I have never seen them open this many doors for one ship before." I looked on in amazement. "Do you know how many doors they are opening for the ship?"
"They had to open all twenty-four doors on both sides."
"What! That means the ship is at least two miles long. How could they keep it a secret as long as they did?..." I asked.
"Yep. The ship is a little over two miles long. They had a lot of the northern parts of the city on tight lockdown. Not very many people were allowed to move around freely."
"That sounds like hell... I am glad I live in the south." I laughed.
Suddenly; the whole city started to shake. Shortly after a loud roaring noise rattled the very core of my body. A massive flame rocketed out of the rear of the hanger.
"The engines must be huge to have flames like that!" I yelled as loud as I could to make my voice heard over the roaring thunder of the engine. "That flame has to be shooting a max of three miles in the air!" The roaring and the flames quickly stopped. Then a constant humming started.
"The engines sounds like they are running just fine." Siphonei smiled. "You are right about the size. They are massive."
The ship slowly started to rise from the hanger. We continued to watch as more became visible.
"Damn... Look at the main gun on that beast. What is it? A mass particle accelerator?"
"No..." Siphonei laughed. "It's a rail gun. They fit it to fire ten consecutive shots without a reload. It is so massive; they needed a fission reactor just to meet the minimum power requirements for it." Siphonei smiled. "No shields in the galaxy would survive even one blast from that gun..."
"That is impressive..." I put my hand up to my chin to think. "It makes me wonder why we need something so powerful in a time of peace." Something out of the corner of my eye got my attention. "Hey Siphonei... What is that?" I pointed at an object falling from the sky.
"It looks like a meteorite. This solar system if fairly new and still dirty." Siphonei turned back to watch the ship.
I continued to watch the object. Sure enough it was falling like a meteorite would. I continued to watch it. I quickly noticed it starting to angle upward. I backed away from the railing.
"Siphonei... Get back down in the hanger." Suddenly the object got a massive boost of speed, as a ploom of fire spit out the back.
"Why? What's going on?" Siphonei looked at me confused.
"Just go!" I look back at the object as it was seconds away from hitting the Ascension Project. "Siphonei Get down!" I quickly pushed Siphonei down to the ground towards the ladder.
I quickly look up and was blinded by a bright red light. An extremely hot heat wave stole the wind out of my lungs. Shortly after a defining explosion shook the city. I covered my eyes as I went blind, as I dropped to the ground. A massive force threw me against the wall of the hanger.
I looked out over the city as I laid on the ground. I tried to find the Ascension Project. All I could see was a large mushroom cloud over the north section of the city. The skies turned red, as fires burned all over the city. My vision started to go black again. I could hear a muffled voice calling my name.
"Jacob... Jacob crawl over here... hurry..." I look towards the voice. It was Siphonei. "Jacob give me your hand..." She held out her hand as far as she could. An intense burning sensation flooded my body as I tried to give Siphonei my hand. My body quit on me and my world went dark.
I quickly opened my eyes and jumped up gasping for breath. I tried to get up, but I fell off the bed. I quickly rolled up on the floor as a large heat wave rushed over my body.
"Jacob! Are you alright!?" I look up to see Derpy standing over me.
"Ya... Ya Derpy I am fine." I tried to get up from the floor, but my entire body was shaking.
"It might be best if you sit on the ground for a little." Luna walked over and forced me to sit on the ground with her hoof. "I can only guess it is going to get worse from here on out, so I won't ask you to do that again."
"No its fine. I want to know what happened. I just need some fresh air." I ignored Princess Luna's request for rest.
I got up and stumbled to the door as Luna, Celestia and Derpy followed. I used the wall to stabilize myself down the hall. I got to the lobby and i saw Twilight and Rainbow Dash. I saw four other ponies, but I didn't know them.
"Jacob! You alright!?" Rainbow Dash jumped up.
"Ya... I am fine. I just need some air." I continued to stumble out the door.
I sat down in the dirt. I was still breathing heavy. I looked over to see Derpy walk up to me. She sat down with the bag of muffins in her mouth. My body was still shaking while I was sitting down. I have never felt this week before in my life. It almost felt like I was going to die right then and there. I watched Derpy as she sat the bag on the ground.
"You can have another muffin if it will make you feel better." I watched as Derpy slid the bag closer to me with her hoof. "I saw how happy you where when you had your first muffin." I looked up to see Derpy's big smile.
"No thanks Derpy. Those are your muffins." I gave her a smile. I watched as she got in the bag. She placed one muffin on my lap.
"I insist. Muffins will make any pony happy." Derpy nodded. "You are no acceptation." Derpy smiled again.
"Thanks Derpy." I looked at the door as it opened. I saw Luna and Celestia walk out.
"Are you alright Jacob?" Princess Celestia asked.
"Ya I am fine. Just needed a little fresh air."
"So what was that massive fireball over your city?" Luna asked.
"It was a planet buster and a small one at that..." I looked at Luna as she gave me a confused look. "I'm sorry; It was an Anti-matter bomb."
"What is that?" Celestia asked.
"It is when you have two atoms. The one atom is oxygen. The second atom is anti-oxygen. When the two atoms touch each other. It creates a massive explosion." I moved my arms around as the shaking stopped. "The one that hit the ship was small. I don't think it was designed to destroy the planet. Just that ship."
"I have a question. You talked about your home world in your dream. You left your planet about a hundred years ago. How old are you?" Luna asked.
"That's a good question. I lost count." I tried to remember how much time has passed. "I would guess I am 122 years old."
"How long can your kind live?" Celestia asked.
"Well our average life span is 853 years old, but the oldest was 988 when he died." I smiled. "He was lucky. He had a good life.
I laid down on the ground and watched the sky
"Give me a minute. I will be ready soon." I smiled at Luna.
"Take the all the time you need." Luna smiled
