My name is Daniel Green; I live in a common neighborhood and common street, but unfortunately along with a hopeless town. I was trying to get home from high school. It was raining, and I was cautious, I was hoping that these bullies I know didn't see me. A year ago I got into this show that one of my friends over the web showed me, call My Little Pony: Friendship is magic, and that’s basically where it all started.
I thought it was pretty weird at first to see a fan base of teenagers and grown men watching a show for little girls, but before I knew it I was so into it. I made some memes, chatted with other bronies on forums, read some fan-fics, but I always kept it a secret, I didn't want anybody else knowing that I watched it, because it would probably ruin my life. One day, I was in the library studying for a test. Once I finished I went over to the computer (like and idiot) to look up to see if there was a new episode of MLP, and apparently this kid named Alex and his other friends from my school saw me and started taking pictures without me noticing. Like a BIGGER idiot, I kept looking up pony memes, and they took even MORE pictures. My mom called me to come home and that’s when I turned and saw them rushing out the door. I didn't know who they were yet, so I forgot about it and went home for supper. The next day, when I went on to the bus, I was mocked and punched. Those kids I saw at the library posted the pictures all up on Facebook, and it quickly got a lot of attention. Throughout the whole bus ride everyone was making fun of me, calling me a pervert, a creep, a geek, and a loser. During school they threw thing at me, attempt to fight me, and someone nailed me in the face once, just because I was a brony.
It pretty much went on like that for the rest of the year. I had to stop taking the bus to avoid any violence of being beaten up, so I made my own root to get to school and get home.
It’s been over a year now, and I’m still being made fun of. My mom is aware of all this and she actually thinks I’m gay just because I like a T.V show. It depresses me to think; even my own mother is against me. Half of the people who make fun of me haven’t even seen it, so where’s their right to judge me?
Some people over the internet feel my pain, and they’re many others like me. But even so, I still feel very alone, but when I watch the show, I feel that some of the sadness is taken away from me, and that makes me feel great. But other people just don’t understand that, and they mock me for my opinion. It puts me to shame.
But that all changed one day, the most extraordinary thing happened, and you’re about find out.
I was, again in the beginning, going home from school by taking my secret root. I was trying to be as careful as I can not to be seen by anyone who harassed me. My root basically involves going behind a bush, sneaking into a sewage drainage pipe, exiting and climbing out and over a fence covered by a green tarp, and proceed to quietly make my way towards my house. I just jumped into the drainage pipe, but to my horror, Alex, and his other thug friend was sitting there, waiting for me. I tried to go back from the way I came, but his other friends blocked my way of escape. I was trapped. “Just let me go home!” I pleaded, “I’ve done nothing wrong, just let me go home!” He stood up and looked at me, laughing at me. “Not yet! We’re going to have some fun with you, stick around!” he said with a discomforting grin. His friend behind him was holding a baseball bat and gave it to him. “We’re going to play baseball” he said “And maybe you brony faggots will finally leave our school alone” He came towards me about to swing; when behind us 2 police men from our school came to find out what was going on.
“Hey! Who are you! Get out of there!” one said as they were charging towards us. We all scattered, and took different directions around the sewer. I ran in different directions in 3 different sewer ways hoping I could shake them. After ten minutes, I finally lost them. Unfortunately, for me, though, Alex followed me, with his bat still in hand. “You little snitch, you knew about the police men, didn’t you? You set me up!”
I was walked back a couple of steps, and look behind me to see a pool of water, 8 feet deep, by the looks of it. I turned back to confront Alex. “I didn’t call the cops, honest man!” I yelled at him, my eyes filled with mercy, “I didn't know they followed me! You should have just leaved me alone!” Alex angry, his face red with fury and his eyes filled with hate, “The cops said one more slip up, and they’ll throw me in the joint” “I’m not going to jail for nothing.” He lunged at me, and swung his bat. I grabbed it and yanked him off of me, he collapsed on the ground, I got up to run away, but he grabbed me by the leg and lunged at me again. He flipped me over and jumped on my chest, repeatedly punching me in the face until it was covered in blood. He picked me up and brought me to the pool of water. He looked at me with an eerie smile, “Come on, Danny, we’re going for a little swim.” With no haste, he pushed me in and jumped in himself, I tried with all my might but he was too strong, he was attempting to drown me. “Help!” I chanted louder and louder, hoping that somebody would hear my cry, “HELP ME, SOMEBODY, ANYBODY!” He laughed with the most devious smile “Ha! No one can save you, you’re…..” just then he stopped, dead silence, he didn't say anything. I was wondering why, and I looked down myself…and there it was, a bright light, brighter than the heavens… and it was coming towards us.
“What the hell is that!” he screamed as he let go of me, “What is that Daniel!?!” he grabbed me by my shirt, “What is it!?!” he asked again, with an even more terrified look on his face. “I don’t know!” I said. We started swimming towards the way out, but the pool started spinning like a whirl pool, we were being sucked into it. Alex started screaming, he didn't know what to do, and continued just to grab on me, making it even more difficult for the both of us to do anything actually. We started being sucked into the whirl pool, deeper and deeper, and we got even closer to the light. The light came closer, and closer, and it touched me, that’s when I saw Alex pass out. I saw Alex going into the light, slower and slower until he completely vanished. I was so shocked by this I didn't have any breathe, and I passed out to. I had my final glimpse of the real world, because this one was going to blow my mind.
My head started pounding, but I was hearing voices, my eyes weren't open yet, but I was awake. When I opened my eyes, I examined the world around me, and it…it was colorful, a colorful hospital. The walls around me were like they were painted by a cartoonist, and the walls, as well. I looked out the window, and the sky was bright blue, like a painting, and the clouds were perfectly rounded, like they were drawings. I figured, since my head was pounded, I must have hit my head, and I was imagining all of this. “What is this? I must be dreaming or something” I said to myself, filled with curiosity, “Or maybe the hospital has me on some medication…” I was trying to think to myself what was wrong with me, but then another thought struck me, where was Alex? “Alex. Where are you?” I said, I was worried that he was dead at the least, he was the first one to go through, whatever that thing was. “I’m on the other side, genius,” He answered from the other side of the tarp that separated me and him. “They have me on some medication, no thanks to you, now the whole room looks weird.” I assumed that we were both on some medicine; but why would we be seeing the same thing?
Just then, a female voice was heard over the intercom, “Would Nurse Redheart please report to room 353, the patients need assistance.” That name, Nurse Redheart, I've heard that name before, but at school or anywhere else, I heard it on television, but I couldn't remember what show. The door opened and the nurse walked in. “Hello there, you had quite a trip, haven’t you? You almost would've drowned if she hadn't flown you out of there!” she said with a comforting voice. “I know, I've would've been” I froze, when I turned to see her face. I couldn't believe my eyes, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me at first, but know, the Nurse I was looking at was very real. She was a pony, an actual My Little Pony “Pony”, the exact same Nurse Redheart that was from the show, standing right there in front of my hospital bed. “Are you alright” she said with a concerned look, “You look frightened.” My heart was at the pit of my stomach, I couldn't believe that it was a cartoon pony actually talking to me. I didn't know what to say; never in my life did I see such an amazing thing.
“No, I’m fine, it’s just, my head hurts,” I said nervously. She went up to me and felt my head with her hoof. “You seem to be alright to me!” she said with a smile on her face, “You can leave any time you want, just don’t make a mess.” She left the room with another word, the door closed, and I started talking to Alex. “Can you believe that!?!” I said astounded by what I was just talking to, “That was a pony! An actual pony! How is that even possible? Scientist can’t even explain this! This is unbelievable!” I was so excited at what just happened. I couldn't contain it. Alex, however, was pissed beyond belief. “UNBELIEVABLE MY ASS, I’M GOING TO KILL YOU WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE, YOU CAN BE SURE OF THAT!” Alex said, dead serious. He seemed more terrified than angry though, I know I would if I was a self-centered jerk with a undying hate for bronies. “You know what, I kill you right now!” He pulled away the curtain, and he started yelling, “WHAT THE HELL!?!” I was amazed, Alex, the number one brony hater was a PONY himself! And by the looks of it, so was I! “Good golly gumdrops!” I said, “We’re ponies! We’re actually ponies!” Alex jumped out of his bed, “YOU’RE GOING TO BE A DEAD PONY ONCE I’M FINISHED WITH YOU, DANIEL!” He jumped out of his bed, but immediately feel face down. “Why can’t I stand up?” I jumped out of bed on all fours, “You can’t walk, you trot, you’re a pony now remember?”
He stood up and looked at himself. He was a blue pony with a white blue mane, standing at any normal height a pony would be at in the show. He turned to me, “Am I NAKED!?! Not only am I a pony, with you, in some weird acid trip, but I’m NAKED!?!
I rolled my eyes,
“No, you’re not naked; a lot of ponies don’t wear clothes, it’s normal.” I said
“But we’re not ponies!” Alex responded.
“Well now, we are, and you’re going to have to deal with it one way or another.” I said.
Like a horse he snorted at me and we walked out of the door. We left the hospital and walked around town. It was incredible, exactly like the show, all the ponies were smiling, it was blissfully sunny, it’s the exact opposite of my world, where everyone judges you quickly, and almost everyone is depressed. However, Alex wasn't doing so well. “Well, how do we get back home?” he said to me. “Well first we have to find out how we got here in the first place, I think that light was some sort of magic that came from one of the unicorns here in Ponyville. He looked at me unsatisfied, “Magic? Are you stupid? I don’t care if the show uses it or not, but whatever’s going on with us, it isn't magic.” “I don’t think we can put much logic into this, magic seems to be our only key element for this world.” He rolled his eyes, “Alright, alright, whatever’s going on I just want to go home.” Then a thought rushed into my head, “I think I know a certain some-pony who can help us!” and yes, I said “Some-Pony” no one here is going to get what I mean by “somebody” so I might as well say that instead.
I started trotting as fast as I could. Alex caught up to me and said “Where are we going?” I looked at him with a big grin on my face and said, “Twilight’s Library!”
