Expanding the Ranks

Back at the palace, Princess Celestia was troubled.

“What am I going to do with that pony?” Celestia though out loud.

“Well, we could trap him in the moon for eternity.” Luna suggested. “Ok ok just brainstorming here.” Luna said with the look she was getting at her sister.

“Although Jack Frost does do the most irrational of acts I feel as if he’s finding something.” Celestia said.

“Well sister, he has asked you who he is but that was a very long time ago.” Luna brought up.

"True, but as I told him before I have no idea what he spoke of.” Celestia concluded.

“Princess! Princess!”

Celestia and Luna turned to two guards covered in black sand standing at the door.

“It said it wanted to see you.” One said weakly.

Then they both collapsed. The sand took the form of the dreaded Queen Chrysalis, then disappeared.

“Call Twilight Sparkle and her friends at once.” Celestia ordered.

Later that day, the mane six were at the palace.

“My faithful student, the queen of the changelings has returned. I need you to find out what she’s doing and stop her.” Celestia said.

“Ooh, do we get cool new stuff, do we? Do we?” Pinkie asked.

“Oh Pinkie, really?” Applejack said.

“Hey, were in the presence of the princess, show some class.” Rarity said.

“Oh bite me Rarity, when was the last time you cut loose?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Well I never, well at least I’m not some pig, unlike some ponies I know.” Rarity retorted.

“Guys, not in front of the princess.” Twilight begged.

As the conversation went on, Fluttershy noticed a beam of light coming through one of the stain glass windows of the palace. The light made a picture. She yanked Rainbow Dash’s tail.

“Hey, what the…” Rainbow started but stopped when she saw the light.

The others noticed it and came over to look. The light showed all of Equestria in fear and torment.

“That must be what will happen if we don’t stop Chrysalis, what can we do to prevent this?” Twilight asked the light.

The light changed and showed two ponies being formed. On was revealed to be

“Triple Threat!” Rainbow exclaimed.

“Who do you think is the other pony? Maybe it’s Lightning Dust.” Pinkie suggested.

Rainbow hoped it wasn’t. who it was surprised everypony.

“Jack Frost!” Celestia exclaimed.

“Well, if Jack can use his powers for good, it’s okay.” Fluttershy said.

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME, THIS IS JACK FROST, HE ONLY CARES ABOUT MAKING TROUBLE WHEREVER HE GOES!” Rarity screamed.

“But then again, we can’t let all of Equestria fall to darkness, we’ll need both of them.” Twilight said.

They left the palace and returned to Ponyville.  When they did, they gathered Triple Threat and Jack Frost.

“We need both of you to join us on our quest to save Equestria from Queen Chrysalis.” Twilight said.

“Just how do we do that?” Triple asked.

“The light showed us that both of you will become elements of harmony.” Twilight said.

Jack Frost laughed. “You’re kidding me, right?” Jack asked.

“NO.” Twilight said.

Jack made a run for it.

“Stop him.” Twilight shouted. Rarity jumped in front of the door.

“Out of my way marshmallow!” Jack demand.

“MARSHMALLOW!” Rarity growled.

She relentlessly beat the living sh*t out of Jack, then stuffed him in a sack. The mane six and TT then collected the elements of harmony and set off for Canterlot again. They arrived at the palace where Princess Celestia was waiting.

“Hello again, and this must be Triple Threat. It’s nice to finally meet you; I’ve heard much of you from Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. Now, where’s Jack?” Princess Celestia asked.

“Right here princess, Rarity.” Twilight motioned.

Rarity opened the sack and dumped Jack Frost out.

“Oww, what the…” Jack was confused.

“Excellent I hoped the ponies treated you well, Discord will you come her please?” Celestia asked.

The reformed Discord walked into the throne room.

“Oh yeah, I was treated well if you call being beaten up and being stuffed into a sack good treatment.” Jack said sarcastically.

“Great,  because that was my suggestion.” Discord said as he walked  past Jack. He paused briefly to smile at the blue pony.

Just then, the elements lit up and 2 necklaces appeared around Triple and Jack’s neck. Triple was excited, but Jack was annoyed. He took of the necklace and crushed it with his hoof. When it was destroyed, a snow storm started in the room. Everypony got their manes frozen.

“What makes you think I want to be an elemental?” Jack said angrily.

"The fact that the light said so," Pinkie said, then started singing, "Oh Jack Frost we want..."

"Buck the singing!" Jack yelled. Pinkie looked at him shocked.

"Sorry." she whispered sadly.

Everypony stared at him.

“Look I’m flattered, but you guys don’t want me to join you. You guys are hard work and deadlines, and I’m snowballs and fun times. You don’t want me as a hero.” Jack continue.

“Oh well, we tried, you can go back home now Jack.” Applejack said hastily.

“Jack, I don’t think you understand what we do, we protect the ponies of Equestia and keep them safe from evil.” Fluttershy said softly.

“She’s right Jack, we’re facing a threat greater than anything we've faced before, Queen Chrysalis is back and…”Princess Celestia said.

“Wait, Queen Chrysalis, you mean queen of the changelings?” Jack asked.

“Yes, when she threatens us, she threatens all the ponies of this land.” Celestia said.

“All the more reason for you to chose somepony else to be a hero.”Jack said.

“You where chosen to be an elemental, along with Triple Threat. Twilight said.

“By who?” Jack asked.

“By my parents, the king and queen of Equestria. They are the ones who made the elements of harmony.” Princess Celestia said.

“Why didn’t they tell me?” Jack asked. “This is crazy. So after all the years of playing a puppet on a string to them this is their answer for me to waste the rest of my life making ponies believe in all this harmony garbage. No way, you hear me you two crack ponies, this is not for me, no offence.” Jack said looking at the ceiling shaking a hoof.

“Now how is that not offensive?” Applejack responded. “You know what, who needs him, what does this joker even know about giving hope to ponies any way ya’ll?” Applejack asked.

“You ever heard of Winter Break or Snow day. I know it’s no apple on a stick but ponies like what I do for them toots.” Jack told Applejack.

“But none of them even like you do they? They can’t even look at you without thinking your some kind of freak or monster am I right?” Applejack asked.

“Applejack, that‘s taking it to far”. Fluttershy said.

“No, no it’s okay, the jackrabbits right”. Jack said with a sly smile.

“The what, what did you call me? I’m not a jackrabbit ya hear”. Applejack said furiously.

“Oh, well here I am thinking that you always were one. Well then Jacky if you’re not a Jackrabbit what are you?” Jack asked.

“I’m Applejack, the pony of Honesty, and unlike you ponies actually accept me” Applejack said.

There was a dead silence in the room.

“Jack come with me.” Celestia ordered.

Jack followed the alicorn to another room. The royal mare closed the door.

“Jack Frost, who do you think you are?” Celestia asked the earth pony.

“What?” Jack asked.

“If my parents chose you to be an elemental, then you must have something special inside of you.” The princess then took a flower from a vase. “What is this?” Celestia asked.

“Um, a flower.” Jack said.

“Yes, but what do you see?” Celestia asked again.

“I see a flower.” Jack said.

“It represents me Jack, if you get to know me, you’ll see that I’m not only calm, polite and patient, you will also see that I am brave, strong, independent, mysterious, and at the my core I’m…” Celestia said wisely.

“A big seed?” Jack asked.

“Look closer Jack.” Celestia said.

“I don’t know, bright?”

“Yes, I’m very bright, that’s what makes me who I am, a light that shines and gives joy to all. To see the wonder and beauty of this world for others to see and feel the magic and how everything flows though, it’s my core what is yours”? Celestia asked as she handed Jack Frost the flower.

The blue earth pony pondered this for a moment.

“I don’t know “Jack responded trying to give the flower back however Celestia wanted him to keep it as a reminder of what his core is.

Jack actually showed a small smile for the gift. They went back onto the throne room. The others were staring at a staff on the ground.

“It formed after you crushed your necklace; I guess it’s still an element.” Twilight said.

Jack picked up the staff. “Now this is more like it.” Jack said pleased.

“Sister there is trouble in the Everfree forest” Luna said.

“Everypony to the carrier!” Celestia command.

“Hold on Celestia I already told and your fan girl club I’m not going, and besides there’s no way I’m getting on some girly carr…ier” Jack said before he saw the upgraded carrier.

Basically, it was almost hot rode that flew. Celestia was enjoying the look on Jack’s face with his jaw opened.

“ OK, one ride, but that’s it” Jack said.

Twilight, Pinkie, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Luna, Discord, Jack, and Triple got on.

“Applejack aren't you getting on?" Twilight asked.

“Oh yeah about that, I think I’m better taking the train, you know where the ground the is” Applejack said.

“No time to waste get on!” Triple Threat replied as she forcefully pulled Applejack into the carrier.

“Everypony ready?” Celestia asked.

“Wait, Wait where are the bloody seat belts?!” Applejack said in horror.

“Oh, there are no seat belts” Luna implied.

“WHAT!” Applejack burst out.

”Well how else is it supposed to move fast?” Luna answered.

“And where off” Twilight said.

The carrier took off like a rocket with a sonic boom. Everypony was fine except Applejack and Fluttershy, they were in terror.

“I hope you don’t blow chunks.” Discord said.

“I hope you don’t choke on apple seeds lizard lips.” Applejack said annoyed.

As the carrier flew through the sky, Applejack was focusing on not losing her lunch. Jack decided to have some fun with it.

“Hey Jacky, check out this awesome…whoa!” Jack said alarmed, it seemed he would fall over the edge.

Applejack pulled him into the carrier again, only to see Jack grinning at her.

“Aw, Jacky, you do care.” Jack said sarcastically.

“Buck off you bloody showpony.” Applejack pouted.

Discord got up. “Hang on everypony.” He said.

With a snap of his fingers, he opened a portal that sucked the carrier in. The carrier’s speed went up so high it got out of control, especial after the came out the other end. The carrier crashed landed in the Everfree forest. When everypony got out, Twilight checked the carrier for damage.

“No harm done.” Twilight sighed with relief.

Triple looked down at her element. It looked exactly like Dash's except the lightning gem was blue.

“The element of courage. Interesting, I must of earned for standing up to those bullies for Dash and Flutters.” Triple said.

“You know, maybe we’re a little too in sync for friends.” Rainbow said. Triple playfully punched her shoulder.

“Come on guys, this way.” Twilight called.
