There was darkness, but he could hear beeping in a steady beat he didn't know what was making the sound, or why everything was so dark. He was on his back and there something soft and warm under him. He wondered what he could do he tried to recall on his memories but there was nothing to remember just empty gaps that were held together by long blurs that made no sense.
He wanted to say something, but say what, what could he say, what is there to say, he just made grunts and groans.
He gave up and would try and move, but could he move, was there anything to move, he just shook and squirmed.
He stopped and retreated back into his mind but there was nothing… just emptiness.
He was laying in silence for an unknown period of time until he heard a set of hoofsteps from around him which took his attention. It became louder and louder as the clip-clops became closer until he heard the opening of a door as the hoofsteps came near him.
He moved his head towered were he thought the sound was coming from.
“Are you awake, can you hear me?” A soft female voice rang out.
What could he do? He pondered on the words and came up with something.
“I am...Awake...I...can hear...you” He stuttered his voice sounded muffled and dry.
“Oh my, we all thought you would never wake up” The voice was shocked.
Shocked…voice…words, he could speak, and he knew words.
“I…can’t…see” He muttered.
“Oh yes, right, you were in an accident and you were taken to the ponyville hospital, do you remember?” The voice asked.
“No… can’t remember… everything is so…so dark”
“There was a de-railing at the local train station and you were brought here with major brain damage, so amnesia was expected… do you remember your name?”
“No…I can’t see…everything is blank… it hurts” He spoke slowly thinking of the right words.
“My name is Nurse Redheart, can you remember anything like friends family, were you are from, or anything about the past?” Redheart asked.
“I can’t remember anything…it’s all confusing…why does it hurt?” He asked the nurse.
“Well like I said you took a hard hit to the head, so you will be having aches and pains.
“I want to see… can you let me see”
“I wish I could, but you need to keep the bandages on for at least another week or two” She apologized.
“Take off the…bandages…I want to see…please” He wheezed.
“I-I can’t… ok I’ll take them off, but be ready the light will hurt for a second” He could feel Redheart pull of the wrapping.
He could feel his heart beat as the darkness started to become brighter and brighter.
“Last strap…” She pulled away the strap and the light singed his eyes.
He closed his eyes and waited until his eyes stopped hurting before he opened them again, he was on a plain hospital bed and to his right was a light blue curtain pulled back blocking the window on the other end. Redheart was a white unicorn with pink mane tied in a bun with a Red Cross hat on top of her head. On his left there were machines that had long thin wires that were attached to his body with small circular bandages holding them in place.
“Can I see my face” His voice was clear and still sounded very dry.
She walked up to a counter next to him and pulled a small mirror up to his face with her magic.
He was a earth pony with a dark blue coat and short shaggy navy blue mane with long white streaks, his face was covered in burns and scratches, his left eye was blood shot while is right was covered with a small cotton pad.
“What happened to me?” He spoke easier and a little faster.
“I told you, there was a de-railing and you were hurt badly in the crash one of the worst to be exact” She stated.
He tried to lift a hoof to his face but it never came.
He looked down to his body that was covered with a large blanket.
“Why can’t I move?” He asked his heart rate increased.
“I’m sorry, but…” She pulled the blanket from his chest and his heart skipped a beat.
His lower chest was raped in bandages and his left leg was gone from above the knee down his right was in a cast. His hind legs were covered in old wraps.
“…we tried to save as much as we could, but we had to amputate the left leg do to sever damage your hind legs are fractured in five different places, and your right for-leg was broken also” She went on, but he paid her little attention.
How bad was this accident?
“Seeing is how we have no info about you, what do wish to be your name until you can remember your real one.” She set down the mirror.
He was fixed on his left for-leg until he shook himself from it and looked to Redheart.
“I don’t know” He had a lump in his throat.
“How about…sky?” In her eyes he reminded her of the sky.
“Sky…I guess it will do” He kept his eyes fixed on his absent for-leg.
“Can you remember anything, at least something?” She asked.
He retreated back into his mind and tried to think of something, anything from before he woke up in the hospital.
Sky closed his eyes and receded into his mind and concentrated on anything he could think off, but to his annoyance he came up blank and when he came up on something it was just gibberish nothing to make out.
Sky knew the memories were there but he couldn't touch them, they were on the tip of his tong but he came up empty.
“I can’t…I just can’t see them” He started to cry.
He was missing a limb, he was broken physically and mentally, and his own mind taunted him.
“What’s wrong with me” He cried softly as he sat back up.
Redheart walked next to him and placed a hoof over him and rocked his head softly.
“It’s ok, you just had a big shock and I understand you are upset, so I will leave you to rest if you need me only call for me” She said in a softy motherly tone.
“I just want to know who I am” He whispered still crying.
“It’s ok just rest for now and I will check up on you tomorrow” She softly pushed him into the bed and pulled the blanket over him and left.
He was crying softly into the pillow and was muttering to himself…
“Why can’t I remember?” It felt like hours to sky until he finally drifted of to sleep with tears on his cheek.
Sky woke up on the fourth day after waking from his two week long coma and on the third day he had a second mental break down when trying to remember what happened before the accident.
“How are you feeling this morning, I have your breakfast” Nurse Redheart walked into his room pulling a food cart with her.
“Head hurts again, and I’m a little tired, but other than that I feel ok” He muttered.
“Well, keep taking your medication and make sure it a good night of rest every night” She said softly as she pulled a small desk in front of him and set down the tray of ‘the delicious’ hospital food.
Nurse Redheart left him as he ate, and once he finished he pushed away the desk and sat in silence staring at the wall.
He closed his eyes and soon drifted into sleep.

Sky slowly woke up some hours later to see the desk was cleared and folded up next to his bed, so he pulled the blanket from himself with his right hoof.
He looked down to the rest of his left thigh and gave a sigh, but sometimes he wonders if he was always limbless, but according to Redheart they removed it.
He was alone for a few minutes until he came up with a idea, Sky turned around the best way not to hurt his injuries and pressed the emergency button. Almost immediately Redheart ran in looking around franticly.
“Are you ok, something wrong, are you hurt in anyway” She spoke a mile a minute.
“I’m fine I just wanted…”
“To have a little chat, you almost gave me a heart attack!”
“… I just wanted to visit the train station” He said it as if she had not said a thing.
“Oh, if you need you just had to ask, not use the emergency button” Redheart sighed.
“If you want to leave I need to check with the doctor and get you a few things” The nurse turned and left him alone once again.
She came back with two strange objects.
“Well, here we are you’re clear to leave, but you need these to walk” She showed him the objects.
One was a metal frame on a pair of wheels holding two leg braces, the second was long thin metal plate curved in a ‘U’ like shape with anther medical brace on the longer side of it.
Redheart first started by applying the blade leg to the rest of his left thigh the straps, and slowly rolled him from the bed.
“Careful now, there we go” She leaned him over on the bed, and wheeled over the hind-leg braces.
Redheart untied the straps on it and fit his legs into and tied them down.
“Ok everything looks good, I’m going to get another nurse who can take you over to the station I will see you when you get back”
She left the room again and returned shortly with a stallion who introduced himself as Needles he was a tall bulky orange stallion with short wavy dark yellow mane.
“Ok first time prosthetic is a little tricky but you will get used to it in no time, let’ start small try and walk to the door, I will be right here” He said with a deep voice.
Sky slowly took a step with his right leg then with the blade; he wobbled a little but held high and dragged the wheel brace behind him.

They two made it to the front door of the hospital with nothing major only he tripped up on the blade a few times but was slowly getting used to it.
“It’s a bit of a walk to the station, but we will make it there in no time” Needles said happily.
They walked down a old path to the town of ponieville, and he wondered if he had any ties to the town, but he wouldn’t know.
The pair walked down the main road of the town which was crowded with ponies who went along their daily business who all gave him strange looks and glances.
They walked along the road until he stopped in front of a tree turned home.
“What’s that?” Sky asked.
“That’s would be the ponyville library ran by Twilight Sparkle” He said in a hefty tone.
Sky gave it a look over before turning to main road and continued with Needles to the station on the far side of the town.

The two arrived at the wrecked train station.
The locomotive was still inside of the building on its side, and one of the passenger carts remained flipped over and crushed from something.
He walked up to the passenger cart and looked inside through one of the smashed windows, and inside the seats were scattered all over shards of glass were scattered about luggage, trash, and metal pieces were hanging from the walls and what was the floor (now the ceiling) hooked on the seat bars.
“What happened, was I in this one?” Sky asked Needles who gave him a nod.
“Yea, you and six others, but three of them were killed on impact, you and the other three were painfully pulled out you being the worst” Needles said in a surprisingly soft voice.
“Who were the others that survived?” He asked
“A green earth pony, yellow and cyan Pegasus’s, and then you”
“So you’re that pony who was with us” A female’s voice came from behind him.
Sky turned around to a cyan Pegasus who had several bandages around her legs, wings, and chest area.
He saw her and looked at her for a minute, he knew her… wait he DID now her.
He remembered, he was on the train from Canterlot, but was he on it before it arrived? It doesn’t matter, he saw himself sitting there on the train looking out over the landscape with the Pegasus next to him they were talking and as the train started to arrive, and she said her name was…was…
“Rainbow Dash…I remember you, you were on the train with me” It was like a dam collapsing on a overflowing river.
“Yea that’s me…was that because of the crash?” She asked pointing to his blade leg, and wheel braces.
“Yes, it was a big shocker” As big of a shock to throw him into a mental break down.
“Oh…sorry” She looked saddened.
Its fine…” He thought for a moment. “Did I say my name?” Sky asked the mare.
“No you were about to when the train flipped, why?”
“I can’t remember anything, not a single thing, hit my head pretty bad” He said.
“Oh dang, well that’s a…”Everything went black.

Sky woke up in the hospital bed; Redheart was standing over him with Rainbow Dash and a lavender unicorn behind her.
“W-What happened?” He asked softly.
“Well it looks like you are suffering from narcolepsy, when you collapsed Needles picked you right up and took you right back here” Redheart stated.
“Who are you?” Sky looked to the lavender unicorn.
“Oh, sorry my name is Twilight Sparkle, I saw you being carried away with Rainbow” She had a soft caring voice.
“What’s your name?”She added.
“I-I don’t know, but you can call me Sky” He stuttered.
“Oh I’m sorry I didn’t know” Twilight looked ashamed.
“It’s alright”
“Well it has been a long day for you and you need to rest I will have somepony check on you in the morning, I’m off tomorrow” Redheart took a few steps from his bed
They said their goodbyes and left him to his sleep.
