"Riiiiiing" The day was finally over and as the foals rushed out of the class Soul Rune met up with the Cutie Mark Crusaders. To Soul Rune the day seemed to go on forever once her new friends asked her to come to their clubhouse after school, but the day finally ended and she couldn't of been happier.

"So Soul Rune what do you like to do?" Asked Applebloom.

"Well I mostly like to do magic" Responded Soul Rune

"WHAT but your an earth pony like Applebloom, earth ponies can't learn magic!" Said Sweetie belle.

"I know I just wish I was born a unicorn like you so that I could do magic." Said Soul Rune

"Hey girls I got an idea, how about we go to zecora for the test I'm sure she won't mind it if we drop in with a new friend." Said Scootaloo

"Who?" Asked Soul Rune.

"Zecora's a zebra that lives in everfree forest. We Sh-" Applebloom was quickly cut off.

"THE EVERFREE FOREST!" Exclaimed Soul Rune "Isn't that place dangerous?"

"Normally but the route to zecora's house is pretty safe." Said Applebloom.

"But you should still ask your parents if it's okay for you to go to zecora's" Suggested Scootaloo.

"So long as it's safe i'm sure that they will be fine with me going" Stated Soul Rune.

"Are you sure?" Asked Applebloom.

"Positive" Stated Soul Rune.

"Alright then let's go" Said Sweetie Belle

The walk to zecora's house was rather short but long enough for the fillies to ask a few questions.

"Why are your eyes white doesn't that mean your blind?" Asked Scootaloo.

"I don't know, I guess I was just born with them that color." answered Soul Rune. "Same thing with my hair, I was born with it I guess."

"Hey Scootaloo isn't there a blind pegasus up is cloudsdale?" Asked Apple Bloom

"Yeah but I forget her name. I think it started with an s." Answered the pegasus. "Maybe Snowdrop."

"Anyway Soul Rune what about magic, why do you want to be a unicorn?" asked Sweetie Belle

"For as long as I can remember I've always wanted to cast magic and have a horn. I've always felt that I-" Soul Rune was cut off.

"We're here." Said Applebloom.

Soul Rune looked at the hut it was dark and creepy looking, at least to her it was.

"Are you sure this is it? It looks rather creepy." said Soul Rune.

"Yeah but Zecora is really nice I'm sure she'll be glad to see you." Said Scootaloo

"Oh hello dear Applebloom and this is your friend I presume." Said a mysterious voice, startling Soul Rune.

"Zecora!" exclaimed the 3 fillies while Soul Rune was still frozen stiff. "This is Soul Rune she's new in school, today was her first day."

"You are quick at making friends I see." Said Zecora. "But why have to come to me."

"We wanted to see if Soul Rune should join the Cutie Mark Crusaders so we wanted to give her a test. She said she likes magic so we thought you might be able to help us with the test." Answered the white unicorn.

"A earth pony that is interested in magic that is new." Responded the zebra. "But for your test I can help you."

The 4 fillies and the zebra entered the hut and sat down at a small table and Zecora began to speak. "Making potions may suit you for as I zebra I am hornless too. For somepony small we must not overdo we should start with a simple brew."

With that Zecora stood up and quickly moved over to the cauldron which was currently boiling and beckoned for the fillies to come.

"Now Soul Rune for the brew to be complete we need some newt's feet." Said Zecora.

"Newt's feet! That's gross!" Said Soul Rune.

Zecora laughed lightly. "No it is named that for it's resemblance to a newt's foot is is actually just a plant but in order to find it you must camp."

"Alright... is it this blue one?" Asked Soul Rune.

"No it is the red one over there." Said Zecora.

"Okay got it." Said Soul Rune.

The rest of the day was spent making potions with Zecora and soon the celestia's sun was almost at the horizon. The 4 fillies said goodbye to Zecora and headed on their way.

"Wow Soul Rune you were really good at making potions today." Said Sweetie Belle. "You're almost as good as Zecora!"

"It was just beginner's luck and because Zecora was such a good teacher." Said Soul Rune, trying to be modest. "It was also just a bunch of simple potions that anypony could make."

"Oh don't be so modest Soul Rune you were amazing!" Said Apple Bloom "I wouldn't be surprised if your cutie mark has to do with potion-making."

"Speaking of which I think it's time to make a decision." Said Scootaloo.

Scootaloo pulled Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom into a huddle. Soul Rune could hear them whispering but could not make out the words they were saying. After what seemed like hours to Soul Rune the 3 other fillies finally came to a decision. They all turned to face Soul Rune and Apple Bloom said:
