A Promise Not Forgotten
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“I know what you are thinking, and it’s outrageous. Do you really think that will work?” The inviting voice muttered to me as I was heading towards Ponyville.
“I know what I’m doing, trust me. Sure, it may cause some initial tension, but I’m going to win this race. Besides, we can work through it,” I responded with complete confidence.
I jogged through the forest when I heard some more voices, most likely Colin gaining attention the ‘good’ way. Sure enough, when I climbed the tree and peered into town I saw Colin walking closer to Twilight, who had left the Everfree. I had the perfect view of the town and his little conversation. Let’s just say it didn’t go the way he wanted it to. Colin said all the nice things he could, tried to be polite. That wasn’t enough for Rainbow Dash to handle; she mistook Colin for a wild animal wanting to harm her friend.
“Well, looks like I’m on my own for now,” Colin muttered to himself after I moved off.
“Not quite, I am still with you,” Morgan Freeman’s double said.
“Oh great, I’m so excited,” Colin said sarcastically.
Colin made plans to befriend the ponies. After all, what could they really do to him? He was bigger than me, a little shorter, but compared to these ponies he had the advantage. They only came up to our stomach, varying around three feet tall. Maybe they could take us down if they had strength in numbers, or used magic. Back on Earth Colin and I weren’t the most active sophomores in our high school. He at least was a swimmer, which was more than me. I did nothing, some yard work here and there, but nothing worthy of a ribbon.
The swimmer made his way toward Twilight. “Umm… Hey,” Twilight jumped at the voice. “Don’t be scared, I won’t hurt you.” That was a mistake.
Just then a rainbow blur came out of nowhere and slammed into his head, leaving the boy unconscious.
“Somehow I knew they wouldn’t like humans,” I said with a worried but satisfied tone. I was worried for Colin and satisfied that I made the right decision. “He may actually provide useful to me like this.”
“And how might he do that?” the voice hummed.
“A distraction, they won’t see me coming. Besides, this gives me some time to go get something from town,” I said seeing Rarity among the ponies near Colin.
At that I climbed down from the tree, and into the town I went. Keeping to the shadows cast by the early morning sunrise. These ponies were too easy to sneak up on, it’s a wonder this town even survived. Then again it’s Equestria, what did they have to fear. I moved through the town looking for Rarity’s boutique. The town was bigger than I thought, but the brightly colored boutique was easy to spot.
I slipped inside through an open window. It was dark and quiet inside; the floor was littered with unfinished dresses, plans, and materials. I quickly spotted what I came for, a roll of red cloth. I found some scissors and took them and the roll back to the trees behind the boutique.
“What is that for?” chimed in the voice.
“You really are annoying, ya know that?” I responded.
“Well the other one is knocked out, this does get boring ya know,” It responded with an unpleased tone.
“Just keep quiet, I don’t want you fucking this up.” I said, ending the conversation.
Out of the red cloth I cut a bandana to cover my face, and a cloak to wear. All purely for intimidation purposes. If I waltzed in there wearing jeans and my colorful blue shirt, they might not take me seriously. I couldn’t have that. After taking my time with the outfit, and satisfied that I looked threatening enough, I moved off to Sweet Apple Acres.
“You actually look more stupid than you did before,” This voice was pissing me off now. “I didn’t think that was possible.”
“Yeah, I don’t think my plan would work quite like I want it to if I strolled in with some brightly colored shirt,” I explained. “Red is an intimidating color, and when the wearer has a nasty knife like mine ya know he means business.”
“Unless its Halloween, and you are dressed as a Russian,” He countered.
“Don’t hate on the Russian peoples!” I responded in my awesome fake Russian accent.
As I walked up on sweet apple acres I watched to make sure that I wasn’t being followed. I peered into the orchard and saw Twilight and Applejack running toward where Colin was left with Pinkie bouncing behind. I used my backpack to carry some apples for the night. I can’t just stroll in there now. I returned to my perch in the tree where I saw Colin. The ponies were moving him into the library in the center of town.
Many stood starring at the strange creature; this was definitely a first for them. Twilight seemed to be studying it, rainbow wore a menacing glare, pinkie and rarity couldn’t care less. Applejack walked behind the others with Fluttershy, it seemed that she was in a panic. She looked at the creature with a worried expression, not for herself, but for it. Kind of hard to believe for me, that one of these ponies actually cared for Colin. I didn’t let the thought bother me as I drifted off to sleep in the tree, making sure I wouldn’t fall out first.
“the fuck was that?” Colin muttered to himself as he peeled his eyes open, not loud enough to be heard.
The swimmer heard muffled voices from all around him, and saw blurs of bright colors standing over him. His vision focused in and he saw Twilight Starring at him. He peered out the window to see a flash of red run past, it was dark out now.
“Hold on, it’s waking up!” Twilight said enthusiastically.
“What do ya reckon it is, Twi?” Applejack questioned.
“I don’t know, I’ve never seen anything like it,” She stated with a sad look on her face.
Colin looked around to see that he was bound with ropes and sat against a bookshelf.
Why am I in a library? He wondered to himself.
“Hi! What’s your name?!?” a certain overexcited pink mare asked.
“Pinkie, I don’t think it can understand you,” Twilight said to her friend.
“My name is Colin, and why am I tied up like this?” He asked with a calm and innocent tone.
The ponies all jumped except for pinkie. She just smiled and bounced excitedly. Twilight had a surprised look on her face, and was speechless at the fact that Colin could talk.
“Would you stop staring at me like that?” he said with an annoyed tone.
“Ok, Colin, what are you?” Twilight asked unsure whether to trust the beast or not.
“I’m a human. But please listen, I need to find a Princess Celestia do you know her?” Colin asked.
“Know her? She is the ruler of our beloved Equestria! Everypony knows her!” Rarity said surprised at the human’s lack of knowledge.
“I’m not from around here,” Colin said with a small chuckle. “Please, it is important for me to get to Princess Celestia as soon as possible.”
“And why should we trust you?” Rainbow said.
All of a sudden Colin heard a Russian sounding voice, then a British one, and an American one. They seemed to be all around the library, and arguing with each other. The mares looked at each other with scared looks. Out of nowhere a red covered thing jumped at Rarity.
“None of you move, and nopony gets hurt. Cause any trouble and the others will come in,” I said adding 'nopony' because i knew the lingo.
“Let her GO!” Twilight and rainbow charged at me.
Rainbow was sent back with a kick to the face, and was knocked out.
How do you like it?
Twilight stopped when she saw her friend hit the floor, “What do you want?” she asked.
“I demand to see Princess Celestia, if you take too long somepony else might get hurt too. I will speak to nopony but her” I said moving my blade a little closer to Rarity’s throat.
“Ok! Just don’t hurt her!” Twilight pleaded. “Spike, send a letter to the princess NOW!” Twilight screamed at the baby dragon cowering nearby. He quickly wrote and sent off the letter. Whatever he wrote about me really pissed Celestia off. She popped up in a bright flash and stared into my soul with unforgiving eyes. She stood at eye level to me, making her the only one to rival me.
“You win,” the voice said to me. “We need to talk to her alone.”
“Princess, it is of utmost importance that I speak with you in private,” I said with the blade still close to Rarity. “With your compliance I will let Miss Rarity go.” I still wanted to seem respectful even though I was probably the only thing bold enough to threaten her subjects in her presence.
“Very well. Twilight leave,” she said in a commanding and rather pissed off way.
“But Princess!” Twilight was cut off by a glare that would make the toughest army veteran cry. Colin, Celestia and I were the only people left in the library.
“I promise nothing will happen to any of you ponies if I get what I need,” I said to regain her attention as I let Rarity go.
“You have some nerve showing up now…” Celestia said “but I will listen.”
