Chaotic Love

Chapter III – Meet the animals.

As Fluttershy and Discord made their way through the streets, Fluttershy couldn't help feel slightly nervous as they went by the townsfolk. Some would wave to her in a friendly manner and others would smirks and whisper to one another about how the mysterious man with her had his arm around her, and others would simply stare.

As they went through the marketplace she saw a couple of the men who had asked her out before glare at Discord with envy, Discord smirked and stuck his own tongue out at them and behind his back snapped his fingers. One of the men, who was drinking a soda in the cafe, went to drink it only to drink the actual cup. Crying out in surprise he stumbled backwards and fell of his chair and onto his back, he looked to see that his cup was back to normal and the other patrons couldn’t help but snicker at his predicament.

‘Seems my powers aren’t full restricted…good to know I can still have some fun.’ Discord thought with a chuckle.

Fluttershy was oblivious to this and was focusing all of her efforts to contain her excitement, she let her mind wander about all the different things she could do with Discord to help him on his path to reform, as well as ways to try and open up to him about how she felt.

‘Ok Fluttershy.’ she thought to herself. ‘You need to keep a level head; everyone is counting on you to do this. You can’t just tell him you feelings just yet as he won’t take you seriously; you need to wait it out just a little bit more.’

As they came to the end of the road towards the bridge that connected the road that led to Fluttershy’s cottage to the town, Fluttershy noticed a man coming over to her, she recognised him as being Caramel.

“Hey there Fluttershy.” He raised his eyebrow at Discord. “Who’s this guy?”

“O-oh hello Caramel, h-him? Why h-he’s-“

“Good to meet you good sir, the names Silver Tongue.” Discord interrupted her and gave a mock salute. “Just moved here from Detrot and my good friend Fluttershy is putting me up with a place to stay.”

“Y-yes that’s right; he’s a dear friend of mine Caramel.” Fluttershy added with a smile as Discord offered his hand to shake it.

Caramel eyed Discord suspiciously then shrugged and shook his hand.

“Well nice to meet you Silver.” Caramel said. “Is it ok if I have a quick word with him Fluttershy? You know man to man?”
“I guess that’s ok…” Fluttershy said.

“Don’t worry.” He reassured her. “It’s just a quick friendly welcome greeting between guys that’s all won’t be too long!”

Caramel and Discord moved away from Fluttershy just enough to be out of ear shot before Caramel turned his back to her and glared at him.

“Look Silver.” He said in a hushed tone. “I don’t care if you’re new in town; I’m trying to…get in with Fluttershy if you catch my drift.”

Discord looked over Caramel’s shoulder at Fluttershy who was looking at them curiously, he gave a wave and she waved back. He then looked to Caramel and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“I getcha you Caramel, don’t worry.” Discord nodded.

“Well…good, just don’t get any ideas and we will get along-“

“I’ll try not to give you too much competition, like you could ever beat me.” Discord interrupted and walked past him, a cheerful grin on his face. “Well it was nice meeting you Caramel, but me and Fluttershy have some cooking to do. See you soon my friend!”

Caramel stared at him and his jaw dropped, he watched Discord walk back to Fluttershy and wrap his arm around her shoulder and led her away over the bridge glancing over his shoulder with a smirk at Caramel. Discord watched as Caramel’s face went red with anger and stormed off towards the market.

‘Mortals…even without magic they are so easy to mess with.’

The rest of the journey went uninterrupted as the two silently made their way to Fluttershy’s cottage, as they approached it Discord gave it a glance over.

“So this is your house then? Eh it’s not a castle but I suppose it’ll do” Discord said about to open the door before Fluttershy dipped out from his arm and stood in front of the door.

“Before you c-come in Discord…I need to make s-sure everyone is ready.”

“What do you mean everyone?” He smirked raising an eyebrow. “How many people you got in their?”

“N-no it’s n-nothing like that!” Fluttershy blushed. “It’s my animals…they may not take too kindly to you and I just want to prepare them.”

Discord nodded and folded his arms as Fluttershy went inside; he waited for a moment listening to her talk to her animals.

“Ok everyone, I know this is a bit sudden but we will be having a guest stay with us for a while and I want you all to give him a warm welcome ok?” He heard her say.

He gave a smirk and snapped his fingers and disappeared just as Fluttershy opened the door.

“Ok Discord, were…ready?” She said looking left and right for him.

“I must say.” Discord called from inside. “I do have to admit I like the interior, much better than my last home.”

Fluttershy spun round to see Discord laying on his back on a sofa his arms crossed behind his back and a happy smile on his face, the animals, startled by the sudden noise began to run around the house in panic. Fluttershy gasped and ran inside chasing after the animals trying to calm each of the down; Discord watched her with a smirk.

“Easily frightened things aren’t they?” He chuckled.

The animals began to calm down and some shot glares at Discord, Fluttershy stroked the heads of a couple of ferrets before turning to Discord with a glare of her own.

“That wasn’t very nice Discord.”

“I know, but I just couldn’t wait to see your wondrous home.” He gave her his best forced pity face and let his bottom lip quiver. “I’m sorry…can you ever forgive me?”

Fluttershy smiled and nodded to him.

“It’s ok Discord, now is there anything you-“

She was interrupted as a book shot past her and smacked Discord square on the nose, he let out a startled yelp and put a hand over his nose in pain, he looked around the room with a glare trying to find the source of the book.

“ANGEL! That’s no way to treat a guest, especially after they just apologised!” Fluttershy said placing her hands on her hips and looking down at a small white rabbit; the rabbit was glaring at Discord and ignoring Fluttershy. “Now say you’re sorry mister!”

Angel ignored her and pointed at Discord then tapped his foot impatiently, after seeing Discord do nothing but raise an eyebrow at him curiously, Angel slapped his forehead and leapt onto Discord’s foot and glared down at him. He pointed to where Discord was laying his legs and then to himself before resting his paws on his hips, Fluttershy picked him up and held him so he was forced to look at her.

“I won’t ask you again mister, say sorry!” Her eyes widened as she glared.

Discord watched amused as the rabbits own eyes went wide and nodded frantically, Fluttershy let him go and he gave a hug to one of Discords shoes in apology before resuming his scowl. She turned to Discord with a smile and rubbed her arm.

“I’m sorry about angel Discord; he can be a bit rude sometimes. I think he was upset you’ve taken his favourite seat on the sofa.”

“Oh it’s quite alright my dear.” Discord said with a smile. “It’s in the past; all I want to do is move on.”

Discord picked Angel up and held the rabbit close to his chest much to Angel’s protesting, Fluttershy smiled and headed towards the kitchen to make the pair some food. As soon as she was in the kitchen Discord’s smile turned into a frown as he held the rabbit in on hand.

“Listen you little flea ridden pest.” He growled as his eyes glowed. “I may have limited powers right now, but I swear on all that is chaos I will make your life a misery if you EVER try anything like that again. You understand me?”

Angel’s eyes narrowed as he glared at him, Discord smirked as the door opened and Fluttershy walked back in. Quickly, Discord pulled Angel close to his chest again and smiled at Fluttershy.

“I’m sorry Discord…I’ve kind of run out of ingredients and I need to go get some more…would you like to come with me or?” She asked hopefully.

“As much as I’d like to do that, I think it might be best to stay here and get…acquainted with the animals. After all If I’m staying here so I might as well make an effort.” He replied giving Angel a slightly forceful pat on his head.

Fluttershy frowned slightly and rubbed her arm again, she wanted Discord to come with her so she can try and get him used to socialising normally in town but had to admit that the animals getting used to him would be a good idea, seeing as he was going to live with her. She decided that the best way to start off his reformation was to show she was willing to trust him, she noticed Angel give her a look of annoyance as he tried to break out of Discord’s grip, before she could do anything Discord snapped his fingers and a shopping basket appeared in her hand followed by a hat on her head that was a bit smaller than the one Rarity had worn to their meet up and she felt herself being pushed out of the door.

“Now don’t be too long my dear! And don’t worry everything will be ok.”

“O-oh ok, I’ll be back in a little while. Take care everyone and be nice to Discord!” She called out to the animals as Discord closed the door.

Fluttershy blinked and started to make her way slowly towards town, every so often giving a glance back to her house.

‘I hope everyone will be ok…maybe I should go back and just double check...’ she shook her head quickly. ‘No…I have to show Discord I am willing to trust him, and the Princess reassured us his magic was weakened by that ring...still I can’t help feel a little worried, I better be quick.’

She quickly increased her pace towards the town turning round a corner and disappearing from view of the cottage. The house was eerily silent as the animals slowly turned from looking at the front door to Discord; he waited until he was certain Fluttershy was out of hearing range before a smirk formed on his face. He leant forward towards the animals and let Angel go who immediately leapt away from him and spun on the spot to face him, a scowl on his face and grabbed another book, ready to throw at the man. Discord slowly opened his mouth and the animals eyes widened in terror waiting for whatever cruel thing was about to befall them.

“Boo.” Discord whispered before vanishing.

The animals suddenly went crazy running around in fear and confusion, Angel quickly and cautiously scanned the room trying to locate the man amidst the chaos. As the animals ran amok in blind panic Discord slowly emerged from his hiding spot which was in the air above the animals, he had shrunk himself to a smaller size as to avoid detection and chuckled softly to himself. He moved to the right quickly as the book Angel had been holding shot up and hit the ceiling, looking down Discord saw Angel glaring back up at him.

‘Clever little thing…oh this is going to be FUN!’ he cackled to himself.

He snapped his fingers and the animals suddenly vanished leaving angel and Discord in the room alone, Angel did a double take as soon as the noise of frantic animal’s disappeared. Looking back up to the ceiling he saw Discord had vanished once more, he heard the sound of fingers snapping followed by the sound of several things locking. Slowly he turned around to see Discord standing by the front door, a demented grin on his face.

“There…no more interruptions.” He chuckled.

Angel glared and slowly stretched out to grab another book as Discord cracked his knuckles.

Luna paced back and forwards in the throne room impatiently; she had been in her room waiting for Celestia to return but had grown bored and decided to go for a walk. It was short lived as she was forced to go to the throne room upon hearing form a guard that Blueblood, her nephew, was once AGAIN causing trouble. She had entered to find him shouting and screaming bloody murder at a poor maid who, from Luna could see, had only spilt a small amount of tea onto the table.

Blueblood was shouting at the guards to arrest her for crimes against the crown, the guards, who were blessed with more intelligence then the Prince, had sent someone to fetch Luna to calm the Prince down. Upon seeing his aunt Blueblood froze and his eyes widened with slight fear, Luna bellowed at him using her Royal Canterlot voice berating him for his actions and forced him to apologise to the maid, after he had done so she had grounded him to his room for the rest of the day.

As she watched him scarper off to his room she couldn’t help give a soft giggle, she loved her nephew but he could be a royal pain in her backside the majority of the time, she helped the maid with cleaning the stain and apologised herself for Bluebloods behaviour before being told by one of the guards Celestia was on her way back and decided to wait for her in the throne room. It was during this time she had overheard one of the guards talk about why Celestia had gone to Ponyville…and who she had taken with her.

‘It’s been an hour, why is she taking so long? And why didn’t she tell me she was taking Discord with her?’ she thought to herself.

Just then a trumpet sounded announcing the arrival of the Princess, turning round she saw her sister walk into the throne room with a smile on her face, Luna however had a scowl on hers and stomped over to her. Celestia raised her eyebrow curiously and raised a hand to dismiss the guards leaving the two siblings in the room.

“Greetings Lu-Lu, how are you-“

“Tia! What in all of creation do you think you are doing taking Discord to Ponyville? And why didn’t you tell me!?” Luna interrupted.

“Easy Lu-Lu easy…I only decided upon this today, yes this idea has been in my mind for a while now but it wasn’t until today I decided to do it. If it makes you feel better, Twilight and her friends only found out about my plan to release Discord and reform-“

“REALEASE HIM?! ARE YOU CRAZY?” Luna bellowed in her Royal Canterlot voice.

Celestia put her hands over her ears and cringed at the volume of her voice, upon seeing this Luna winced slightly and rubbed the back of her head.

“Sorry Tia…but seriously, are you crazy!?”

“I know it sounds crazy Lu-Lu but trust me, I see a use for Discord’s powers in the future but only if he was on the side of good. I trust Twilight and her friends to see over his reformation AND they have the Elements with them, please trust me.” Celestia replied with a smile.

Luna raised her hand to protest but sighed and lowered it; Celestia usually had a good reason for doing something like this and knew she would have thought it over carefully before deciding whether or not to do it.

“Ok Tia…I trust you, but there is something I must tell you about…”

“Oh, and what is that?” Celestia asked.

“I was in Fluttershy’s dream last night, she was still asleep when everyone else was awake and I felt a strange feeling from within it, as I entered I found her and Discord…seemingly on a date?” She paused to look at Celestia. “What do you think it mean? Why do you think she would dream of him that way?”

Celestia blinked at her before a smile crept on her face, she began to giggle softly before laughing nearly uncontrollably, Luna on the other hand was not amused.

“Tia what’s so funny?”

“Oh Lu-Lu…how can you NOT see it? I’ve always had the feeling it was this but you’ve confirmed it for me.” Celestia said as her laughter settled down.

“See what?!” Luna asked impatiently.

“Fluttershy is in love with Discord.” Celestia simply said.

There was a long silence as Luna’s jaw simply dropped at this, as she began to make random noises to try and form a sentence it all became clear in her mind. Why else would Fluttershy dream of someone like that? It made sense to her now that Fluttershy must have feelings for Discord, but one question still puzzled her.

“Why would she have feelings for HIM?!” She asked perplexed.

“I wouldn’t know, but love is a mysterious power that can easily rival the power of friendship. That’s why I asked her to oversee his reformation, if Discord can truly accept someone loves him for who he is then he can truly be good.” Celestia replied.

Luna had to agree with Celestia, whilst love could be dangerous; it was also a very powerful thing. Just with the power of love her niece and now nephew were able to summon enough power to repel the Changeling invaders form Canterlot earlier that year.

“Then…let us hope Fluttershy is up to the challenge.” Luna said looking out of the window.

“Careful there Angel, it nearly got you that time!” Discord said as he roared with laughter.

Discord was lying on the sofa which was levitating in the air; below him was angel, or something that was angel. He had changed the rabbits head into a carrot and then changed all of the furniture, aside from the sofa he was on, into rabbit sized pieces of furniture with sharp teeth and were chasing Angel around the room trying to eat him.

Angel narrowly dodged the bookcase as it lunged with its mouth wide open its fangs dripping with saliva and landed on top of it, only to immediately roll out of the way of the coffee table that tried to pounce him but missed. Discord just watched roaring with laughter at the rabbits peril, he was laughing so hard tears where forming in the corners of his eyes, he hadn’t had this much fun since he was released and tormented the elements.

Then he stopped laughing, he paused for a moment as he began to think of the elements, mainly Fluttershy. He remembered how out of all six of them she was the one who resisted the most, she was the one who he had gotten impatient with. He always did wonder why, and he began to wonder why she was being nice to him as well, given who he was and what he did. He shrugged and put it down to simply her wanting to reform him and carried on watching the spectacle, he frowned though when he saw the lampshade happily chewing on a flailing Angel.

“Oh come now Angel, best two out of three?”

And with that he snapped his fingers rescuing the poor rabbit and starting the whole process again.

“Thank you very much for the food.” Fluttershy said with a smile.

“Not a problem Miss Fluttershy, hope you have a good meal with…you know who.” The woman behind the stall winked.
Fluttershy blushed and excused herself and hurried along the road, it was the third time someone had made a comment about the fact she had been walking with Discord, his arm around her shoulder and could feel the heat from her cheeks.

She couldn’t help but smile though, the thought of having dinner with the man she loved was too much for her and she felt giddy with excitement. As she headed towards the bridge she heard the voice of Twilight calling her out of her thoughts behind her.

“Hey Fluttershy!”

“Hmm? Oh hello Twilight.” She replied.

“Are you ok, what are you doing. And where’s you know who?” Twilight asked looking around.

“Oh you mean Silver Tongue?” Twilight was about to ask who she meant but realised she meant Discord.

“Yeah…Silver Tongue, anyway where is he?” She asked.

Before Fluttershy could answer, they were joined by Applejack and Pinkie. Applejack was pulling a now empty applecart behind her and Pinkie had been conversing with her when they had both spotted Fluttershy and Twilight, but no Discord.

“Well howdy you two, say where the heck is that slippery snake hiding at?” Applejack asked looking around.

“Yeah where is the meanie pants?” Pinkie added.

“Girls please…if we are going to do you know what to you know who then you need to stop treating him like well…a bad guy.” Fluttershy whispered quickly.

“She has a point you two.” Twilight said. “It would be easier if we didn’t act so suspiciously of Silver Tongue.”

“Uh…who?” Applejack asked?

“OH MY GOSH YOU MEAN THERE’S A NEW PERSON IN TOWN WHO I HAVEN’T MET YET?!” Pinkie screeched loudly.

“Pinkie! Calm down, Silver Tongue is…you know who, it’s his cover name. According to Fluttershy anyway.”

“Ooooh, I get it. Quite clever really given its meaning and it’s you know who.” Pinkie giggled.

“What do you mean it’s clever?” Twilight asked.

“Never mind.” Pinkie giggled again.

Twilight sighed and decided not to pursue it; it was Pinkie Pie after all. By now, Rainbow Dash had joined the group landing beside Applejack having been flying about above clearing clouds. Soon followed by Rarity who had noticed them from the marketplace and once more the explanation of who Silver Tongue was had to be made, by now Fluttershy was getting slightly nervous, she wanted to get back to her house and see how Discord was doing.

“So…if were done here girls? I kinda need to get dinner ready for me and Silver Tongue.” She said backing up slightly.

“Wait…you mean he’s not in the town?” Rainbow Dash asked.

“Uhm…well….no.”

The girls stared at Fluttershy with wide eyes and just blinked, Fluttershy backed up some more towards the bridge in an attempt to leave.

“So…where is he?” Rarity asked her.

“Uhm...at my house…alone.” Fluttershy squeaked.

The girls again just stared at her in shock, their jaws dropping in perfect synchronisation. Fluttershy closed her eyes and braced herself for what she knew was coming.

“HE’S WHAT?!” They all screamed at her.

A large crowd of people had stopped what they were doing at the outburst and turned in surprise to the girls wondering what the heck was going on, Fluttershy squeaked again as the girls took off for her house dragging her along, shouting about all the horrid things that must be going on at her home.

As they came closer they could hear the sounds of laughter and crashing coming from within the building which only served to add more to their worries. Twilight was the first nearest to the door and used her magic to quickly slam it open and the girls rushed inside, they all gasped at what they saw.

Discord stopped laughing the instant he sensed something was off, he then heard the sounds of running coming from outside of the house and the voices of the girls. Quickly, he snapped his fingers and the furniture returned to normal and to where they originally were, any bumps and scratches they had received were now gone. The room was suddenly spotless again and Angel’s head returned to normal, leaving the rabbit slightly disoriented. The animals that had vanished reappeared looking oddly happy with some wearing summery hats and others holding ice cream cones, he snapped his fingers again and a couple of arm chairs and a table appeared in the room with Angel in one and himself in the other, each holding a hand of cards with more cards on the table.

The door burst open as Twilight and the girls rushed in and gasped at what they saw, Discord pretended not to notice they had come back and simply looked over at the rabbit.

“Got any…fours?” He asked.

Angel didn’t reply but simply shook his head and saw Fluttershy and immediately ran over to her embracing her leg, Discord looked over and gave a smile and a wave.

“Oh hello girls, have you come to join us for dinner?”

“But…you…alone…house…chaos…playing go fish?” Twilight babbled incoherently.

Fluttershy giggled as she cuddled Angel close to her, the rabbit unsure as to why he felt funny but was glad she was back. She turned to the girls with a smile as she placed her basket on the table.

“See girls, nothing bad happened. I trusted Discord and he was polite enough to not break that trust.”

The girls glared at Discord, not buying he didn’t do anything given some of the animals had hats and ice cream. Discord kept his fake smile up ignoring the suspicious glares as he stood up and picked the basket up.

“If you’d like to stay for dinner, I know a recipe for pasta that’s to DIE for.”

“That sounds wonderful Discord, would you like to stay girls.”

The girls each made their own excuses and politely left the room, Twilight being the last to leave.

“Are you sure you’re going to be ok Fluttershy? I know I keep asking but I’m just worried about you.”

“I will be Twilight; I need to show him I am willing to trust him. It will be easier for me to befriend him that way and maybe-“she stopped herself from carrying on a light blush forming on her cheeks. “Anyway, I’ll be fine.”

“Well…ok then, but if you ever need us, we will be here for you in a heartbeat.”

Fluttershy smiled and hugged Twilight before waving her and the others off, behind her Discord gave a smirk and realised he was sweating slightly.

‘Hmm…seems I’ve reached my limit with what I can do with my powers. Damn this ring, and damn you Celestia you sly old fox.’ He thought to himself before chuckling.

“Now Fluttershy dear, you go and have a seat and you let old Discord here fix us up some dinner. The old fashioned way.” He said to her as he entered the kitchen.
