Chapter II – Chaos Released

The girls, save for Fluttershy and Applejack, were waiting for the arrival of Celestia in Twilight’s home and Spike was in the kitchen making everyone a drink with Pinkie Pie. Meanwhile Rainbow Dash lazed on the sofa with her eyes closed and arms behind her head as Rarity watched Twilight pace back and forth nervously.

“Twilight dear, please calm down everything will be alright.” She said calmly.

“Calm down? CALM DOWN?! How can I calm down when the Princess will be here ANY SECOND now, and Fluttershy and Applejack aren’t even here yet!” Twilight cried.

“I’m sure there is a perfectly reasonable excuse to why there not here Twilight.” Rarity tried to suggest.

“Yeah Twi you need to chill out, I can go get them of you want.” Rainbow Dash said standing up

Twilight frantically nodded as Rainbow stretched her body and flexed her wings before opening the door; she stopped as she came face to face with Celestia who had her hand raised up ready to knock.

“Oh, hello Rainbow Dash.” She smiled at the Pegasus.

“Hey Princess how are you doing-ACK!”

Rainbow was interrupted by Twilight who barged Rainbow out of the way grinning almost manically at Celestia; she gave a curtsey to her as Celestia blinked at her.

“Morning Princess, I hope you’re doing ok and-ACK!”

Twilight was barged out of the way by Pinkie who was holding a tray of cupcakes and like Twilight was grinning, she thrust the tray up to Celestia’s face.

“HEYTHEREPRINCESSCELESTIAHOWAREYOUTODAYI’MGREATWANNACUPCAKETHEREFRESHLYMADE!” She screeched at her.

Pinkie was pulled back by a combination of Rarity and Spike as Celestia tried to digest what she just heard before coughing and addressing the girls and Spike.

“Hello my dear friends, I’m happy you were able to see me at short notice. If you follow me to the hill outside of town I’ll be able to tell you what plans I have involving our special guest.” She said with a smile. “But where’s Applejack and Fluttershy?”

“No sweat Princess, I’ll go get them!” Rainbow said.

She walked past Celestia taking off towards Sweet Apple Acres; Celestia smiled to the others and led them out of Twilight’s house and out of the town. As they past other people they all bowed to the Princess after getting over the initial shock of suddenly seeing the Princess in Ponyville. As they left the town they came to a hill just on the outskirts where several guards were waiting for the Princess beside her chariot and one other. The girls were a little confused at the armed presence and then noticed why. There in the middle of the guards was a statue, the statue of the one man who threatened to bring Equestria under chaos, Discord.

He stood at the height of an average man but just a bit higher, his attire would of caused Rarity to faint if she wasn’t shocked that he was here. He was wearing black trousers that tucked into black boots and a brown duster coat over his bare chest, on his chest was the word ‘Chaos; tattooed in black ink. Even in stone Discord didn’t show his remorse, a mad grin etched on his face even with his arms up in defence, the girls were shocked as to why he was even here in Ponyville of all places. Getting over her shock Twilight turned to Celestia, she walked over and politely coughed.

“Forgive me Princess but…WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING BRINGING DISCORD HERE?!” she screamed.

Celestia blinked at her, shocked by her sudden outburst before raising her hand up and placing it on Twilights shoulder reassuringly, she smiled to her and the others who were equally chocked by her outburst.

“I understand you are upset Twilight, but I have a specific reason for brining Discord here, but I can’t tell you until the others have arrived. I ask you to trust me and be patient.” She said with a smile.

“Your right Princess.” Twilight sighed and nodded returning the smile. “I’m sorry I shouted at you.”

“It’s quite ok my faithful student, your anger wasn’t without reason.” She turned to look at the statue. “Let’s hope the others get here quickly.”

“Now Mr Beaverton, I know you’re mad but you need to understand where my friend Applejack is coming from.” Fluttershy said softly.

Fluttershy looked down at the beaver with her hands on her knees smiling sweetly; to her side was slightly irritated looking Applejack who was resting her hands on her hips glaring at the beaver. The beaver was copying Applejack's pose and was looking up at her glaring. Fluttershy had been woken up at midday by Applejack who had come round to ask her a favour, a beaver had decided to make a dam in a stream that ran though the farm and has caused some flooding.

For the past hour or so she has been trying to calmly negotiate between the beaver, acting as its translator, and Applejack, who true to her nature was being stubborn. She had tried to get Applejack to understand that the dam was important to the beaver but was reminded that the farm was waterlogged; she then tried to convince the beaver to remove the dam but by then the beaver was too angry with how Applejack was treating it and refused to move just to annoy the blonde haired woman.

“It’s no use Fluttershy; the stubborn critter ain’t gunna budge!” Applejack said crossing her arms.

“Please Mr Beaverton, what will it take for you to move?” Fluttershy asked sweetly.

The beaver tapped its chin as it gave the question some thought, he then squeaked to Fluttershy moving his arms in different directions before finally point at Applejack.

“Oh I see, yes that’s fine and she will do that.” Fluttershy smiled.

“What he say there Fluttershy?”

“Mr Beaverton says he will move.” As she said this Applejack gave a victory fist pump. “But.”

“But? But what?” Applejack said with a little annoyance.

“Only if you apologise.” Fluttershy giggled as the beaver smirked.

“ME? APOLOGISE!?” Applejack cried out.

“Yes.” Fluttershy simply said.

The beaver crossed his arms and smirked up at Applejack; Applejack returned the glare for what seemed like an eternity, she eventually sighed and lowered her head and crossed her arms.

“Fine, ahm sorry ah was stubborn beaver-“Fluttershy coughed and Applejack sighed. “MR Beaverton.” Applejack shot a look to Fluttershy.

The beaver nodded with a smirk and offered his paw out to which Applejack shook, he then turned round looking at the dam for something. He picked up a small twig which caused the dam to break apart and the flow of the stream returned to normal, slowly but surely the waterlogged area around the stream began to disappear and Applejack smiled. She turned to the beaver and tipped her hat to him in appreciation and the beaver nodded in return before heading off on its way.
“Thanks for helping out Shy, ah appreciate it.” Applejack said to Fluttershy.

“Oh it’s no problem Applejack.” She replied with a smile.

“HEY YOU TWO!” A voice cried out above them.

The two girls looked up to see Rainbow Dash hovering in the air looking down at them, she shot down and came to a halt in front of Fluttershy and Applejack.

“The Princess is here! Get your butts over to the hill by Twi’s house pronto!” Rainbow said.

Before either of them could reply Rainbow shot off again back in the direction she originally came from, they gave each other a glance and Applejack shrugged her shoulders.

“Well, bets be headin’ on over there now, shouldn’t keep the Princess waitin’ any longer.”

Fluttershy nodded and the two girls headed off towards the hill by Twilight’s house.

“You want to do WHAT?!” Twilight shouted.

Celestia cringed as Twilight shouted at her once more, Pinkie Pie and Rarity both shared Twilight’s shocked and angered expressions. Rainbow Dash had returned shortly before hand and was shocked as well to see Discord’s statue and was told to wait for Fluttershy and Applejack to join them. When they had arrived shortly after Rainbow had Applejack immediately began to demand answers to why Discord was there, Fluttershy however had a different reaction.

As she and Applejack had approached the top of the hill, Applejack was the first one to notice the statue and demanded her answers. Fluttershy had caught sight of the statue and her eyes had widened but not from fear or shock, cut of curiosity, curiosity as to why he was here. With every step she took closer to the group her heart beats had gotten more and more intense, she felt her chest tightening and she butterflies in her stomach. Out of the group she had not said a word but instead stared at the statue and she couldn’t help but gaze at his face and bare chest and felt her face redden as she came closer, she nearly missed Celestia explaining what she wanted to do with Discord.

Celestia had calmly stated she wished for Discord to be released from stone but was quickly interrupted by Twilight’s second outburst.

“Twilight please let me finish.” Celestia said sternly.

Twilight gritted her teeth but soon sighed and nodded her head, Celestia looked around at each other the girls and Spike who all nodded as well, still not happy but willing to listen to what the Princess had to say.

“I know what I have said must be a shock given Discord’s nature, but I have a need for his magic in the future if he can be reformed to serve good rather than evil. I have brought two things to assist you all in this, The Elements of Harmony.” She nodded and two guards came forward with a chest that they knew contained the Elements. “Don’t worry about Discord; I’ve cast a spell on them so he cannot make them disappear again. And I have brought this.”

The girls watched as she lifted her hands up with the palms facing to the sky and a bright ball of light formed between the two hands, as it faded there was a ring floating in the air, she levitated it over to Twilight who grasped it and inspected it carefully.

“Princess…what is this?”

“It’s a ring Twilight.” Celestia replied with a smirk.

“Yes I can see that.” Twilight rolled her eyes. “But what is it for?”

“It’s a magic supressing ring; I created it a few days ago when I decided to allow Discord to be free again. It’s enchanted to automatically remain on Discord until certain…” She gave a quick glance to Fluttershy before turning her gaze back to Twilight. “Requirements are met.”

“Requirements? What kind of Requirements? Like him turning to good?” Twilight asked her with a tilt of her head.

“Yes Twilight…when he renounces evil for good, then the supressing ring can be removed.” Celestia said.

Celestia was only being half honest with Twilight; Applejack gave the Princess a sceptical look as she scratched her chin. To try and put her off her half lie she turned her attention to Fluttershy.

“And this is why I wanted you here especially Fluttershy.”

“M-me your highness?” Fluttershy asked.

“Yes, I believe you are the right person for this task I have.” Celestia smiled at her.

“Uhm Princess? Sorry to interrupt but…Fluttershy isn’t exactly the uh…assertive person around.” Rainbow Dash said quickly giving Fluttershy a glance. “No offense Shy.”

“None taken.” Fluttershy replied softly.

“I’m well aware of Fluttershy’s personality Rainbow Dash, but I know in my heart she is the right person to oversee the reforming of Discord.” She gave Fluttershy a reassuring smile before turning to the other girls. “Was it not Fluttershy who convinced a fully grown Dragon to move away from Ponyville?”

“I understand Princess; I’m just looking out for her that’s all. You can’t trust Discord as far as you could throw him.” Rainbow said.

“Element of loyalty through and through.” Celestia chuckled before placing a hand on Fluttershy’s shoulder. “Can you do this Fluttershy? I know it’s a lot to ask for but I have utter faith you can do this.”

“I’ll try Princess…” She replied quietly.

She looked back at the statue and blushed softly.

‘Me? Reform Discord?’ She thought to herself. ‘I can…spend time with him? Oh my…’

“This is where I take my leave my friends, I have faith in all of you and I wish you the best of luck.” Celestia said as she got onto her chariot.

The girls all watched as she and the guards left leaving behind Discord and the Elements, there was a long silence as the girls looked at the statue. Twilight rolled the ring in her fingers looking at before turning to her friends; they all looked at her each sharing the same expression of uncertainty, after the long pause Spike who had remained silent up until now spoke up.

“I don’t know about you guys…but can’t we just leave him here?”

“As much as ah would love to do more than just leave him here.” Applejack said punching her fist into her hand to emphasise what she meant. “Ah don’t want to let down the Princess.”

“Neither do I darling, I’m willing to give it a try if you girls are.” Rarity said.

“Who knows, if it does work out in the end we can have a massive ‘Welcome to the good side Discord!’ party!” Pinkie Pie giggled.

“Fluttershy, are you certain you’re up to the challenge?” Twilight asked her.

“I am Twilight, I won’t let you guys or the Princess down.” Fluttershy replied with a tone of confidence.

The others nodded and Spike retrieved the Elements and gave them to their respective wielders, when everyone had their elements they all formed a circle around Discord and waited for Twilight’s approval. She first levitated the ring Celestia had given her over to Discords right hand holding it just above his index finger, she nodded to the girls and all of their elements began to glow with power levitating them into the air slightly.

As the rainbow beam connected all of them together a single beam shot from Twilight and hit the statue, as the beam continued the stone began to crack around him revealing his feet first followed by his hands, at this moment Twilight quickly placed the ring onto his finger before Discord could clench his hand. As the stone began to crack more and more the girls and Spike could hear Discord’s chuckle slowly getting louder and louder, as the beam disappeared and the last of the stone had been removed Discord was chuckling loudly.

He panted as he rested his hands on his knees before pushing into the base of his back and cracking his spine, the noise caused Rarity to flinch as she never liked the sound of bones crackling like that. Discord smacked his lips and let out a contented sigh as he observed the girls.

“Well isn’t this…interesting.” He smirked stepping down from the podium he was on.

Rainbow Dash immediately shot forwards face to face with him and glared at him.

“Don’t try anything Discord, or you’ll regret it.” She threatened.

“Me? Try anything?” Discord asked raising his hands up in protest. “Perish the thought!”

He stretched his body once more and snapped his fingers, he opened his eyes and blinked. He snapped his fingers again and realised his spell wasn’t working, Twilight smirked as she stood beside Rainbow Dash.

“You can’t hide the elements Discord; Princess Celestia cast a spell on them preventing you.”

“I know, you think I can’t hear anything being trapped in stone?” Discord sighed and shrugged his shoulders giving her a grin and admired the ring on his finger. “Can’t blame me for trying though can you?”

“Wait…you could hear everything?” Spike said emerging from behind the Elements chest where he had been hiding.

Discord disappeared and reappeared behind Spike and gave his hair a ruffle chuckling again.

“Of course my dear boy, I may have been trapped in stone but my magic allowed me to at least see and hear things outside my stone prison.” He looked at the girls and leant down to Spike’s ear. “The things I could tell you about what I’ve heard…”

Spikes face reddened and Rarity quickly pulled Spike away from Discord and held onto him protectively, giving him a glare in the process. Discord merely chuckled as he scratched the back of his head.

“So then, what’s first on the agenda of my ‘reformation’” he said making air quotations. “A trip to the home for the elderly? Feeding the ducks?”

As he laughed and continued to mock them Fluttershy couldn’t help just stare at him, she nervously rung her hands over one another and her blush got deeper. Discord noticed this and couldn’t help grin; he appeared in front of her and bent over slightly so he was face to face with her. Fluttershy stared into his face her eyes wide; he heart was rapidly beating, so much so she could have sworn she could hear its very beating. Her chest began to tighten as she stared into his dark yellow and crimson eyes, there was a silence that hung over the group as Discord stared into Fluttershy’s blue eyes and smirked.

“And you’re going to be the one to reform me…this is going to be fun.” He purred.

“Hey leave her alone!” Rainbow growled and clenched her fist. “Or I’m going to knock you on your ass so fast you’re going to think a train hit you!”

Fluttershy snapped out of her trance like stare and swallowed her nervousness; she turned to Rainbow and smiled at her.

“Please Rainbow Dash, I know your trying to look out for me but threatening Discord isn’t going to help his reformation is it? Please can you apologise to him?”

Everyone’s jaws dropped at what Fluttershy said, Even Discord looked slightly shocked by this and curiously raised his eyebrow up.

“Why the hell should I apologise to him!? He was the one being mean to you!” She snapped.

“Uhm Actually Rainbow, he wasn’t. All he did was look at me and that didn’t make me feel upset.” Fluttershy calmly replied.

“But your face!” Twilight added. “Your eyes were wide and you looked like you were going to faint.”

“Oh that’s just because Discord startled me by appearing suddenly in front of me, that’s all.” Fluttershy reassured her and turned back to Rainbow. “Please Rainbow Dash?”

“Fine, I’m sorry I threatened you.” She said sarcastically to Discord.

“Oh I’m touched.” He replied sarcastically back. “But for the sake of my ‘reformation’.” He paused to have another chuckle at the word. “I forgive you.” He finished by giving Rainbow an overly dramatic bow.

“Thank you Rainbow Dash.” Fluttershy smiled at her.

“So, if you’re going to be reforming me dear Fluttershy, does that mean I’m going to be living with you?” Discord asked.

Fluttershy struggled to let another blush form across her face; she closed her eyes and smiled to him with a nod.

“Wonderful! Now I don’t know about you my dear but I am famished! Being inside stone tends to give one a large appetite.”

He put his arm around Fluttershy causing her to squeak and began to lead her away before Twilight stood in front of him with the others, she glared up at him.

“You can’t just go wondering around Ponyville looking like that! Everyone will panic.”

“What’s wrong with the way I look?” Discord said hurtfully.

“Can it Discord, no one’s buying it.” Applejack said.

“Oh you’re no fun.” He glared at her. “Fine then, I suppose it will be more fun to cause chaos without people truly recognising me.”

He snapped his fingers and his body was enveloped in a quick white flash of light, when the flash of light vanished he was no longer wearing his original attire. Instead he was sporting a brown turtleneck and casual smart black trousers, instead of his boots he was wearing some smart formal shoes and he had hidden his wings and horns, he also had combed his hair back slightly.

“How’s this then?” He asked crossing his arms. “Good enough for the fashion police?”

The group had to admit he did look better, he could easily be passed off as a regular person without his horns and wings, even Rarity had to admit to herself his choice of attire was casual but stylish. Fluttershy tried to hide the blush she felt forming on her face as she gazed over the new look he was sporting.

“I have to admit.” Twilight said. “That will make everything easier.”

“WONDERFULL!” He cried out. “Now onto your house my dear, and then we feast!”

He put his arm around Fluttershy’s shoulder and began to briskly walk down the hill with her, Twilight and the others watched them go before Applejack spoke up.

“Ah don’t like this one bit.”

“Me either…I’m worried about Shy.” Dash added.

“Me to.” Pinkie said.

“We just have to trust her and the Princess…besides we still have the elements right?” Twilight glanced to Discord who was looking over his shoulder with a mischievous smirk on his face. “Celestia knows I think we will have to use them soon…”
