As the world ends it begins
My previous two chapters were VERY short. This is going to be much longer and I will be introducing a few more humans.
Week 3
"Today we perfected it. We finally developed an engine powerful enough to propel us into space and get us to 'Equestria.' I was actually chosen to be part of the craft's maiden voyage and I have to say I've never been this excited. This trumps even the time we learned how to use anti-matter to power the world. Knowing that I'll be the first to meet these extraterrestrials is amazing because it's never been done before except in hoaxes among other things. The only downsides are there is a 32% chance that the engine will implode and kill me and I need to do daily journals instead of weeklies now. I think that's all I have to say for now so I'll see you next week.
Week 4 Day 1
I'm required to do dailies now so let's see what did I do today? Basically I was doing some intense training for the zero gravity in this weird ball thing that spun me around and around and around and around so much I ended up puking up my breakfast. I also met a few of the other scientists who would be joining me. One of them was named Ray. I liked him because he came from the same background as me. I also met a girl who seemed interested in me. Her name was Julie. She kept looking at me in this very weird way and I found myself uncomfortable whenever she did. Anyways that's pretty much all that happened today so I'll sign off for today.
Week 4 Day 2
I hung out with Ray more. We actually got into a fight and it was pretty entertaining to see the people who fought us laying on the ground.
"Hey Ray what's up?" I said to Ray.
"Nothing much I'm just really bored. I just finished doing my daily journal from yesterday wanna grab some lunch?"
"Sure why not I could go for some food." I said as we headed towards the mess hall.
"So who else did you meet yesterday?" He asked out of nowhere.
"Just a girl named Julie. Who else did you meet?"
"Well I met a few other scientists I had never talked to but when I said the phrase none of them knew what I was talking about. Eventually I met a girl whose name was Julie. However I haven't found anyone else at all and I find it kind of weird."
"How?"
"Think about it. Supposedly there are about 100 people going but think of the size this spacecraft is going to have to be to get there before we die. It shouldn't fit more than 10 people. Add on the fact there are only 3 people that we know are going. We have less than 6 days to find anyone else but I think it's just going to be us three going."
"That really has me thinking. What if there really are only 3 of us going into this alien world? I'm signing off for today guys."
Week 4 Day 7
"Today is the day. The day we leave. I'll make this one short because already I have people knocking on my door and telling me to hurry up. So anyways over the last few days me and Ray have been searching for other people and we haven't found anyone. So apparently it's just me, Ray, and Julie. Ok so anyways my next message will be when I arrive at the extraterrestrial planet."
As the world ends it begins
"So I'm just going to record myself from now on as I go about my day and edit out the stuff that's unimportant so alright let's exit the ship"
"Wow it's bright after being in there for a while." Julie said beside me.
"Ain't that the truth." Ray complained.
"Well at least we're here. Hey, does anyone see anything at all here?" I asked.
"Nope" Ray said.
I looked around and noticed we were in a sort of arctic tundra. Then I saw a glow a bit in the distance.
"Hey look! Light!" I shouted over the wind that just picked up.
Suddenly we heard some really deep laughing seemingly come from the ice itself.
So... You humans have finally found your way back here after so many millenia. Don't expect much help from us." A dark voice said fading away.
"What was that?" Ray said.
"I have no idea. Let's just go towards the light." I said setting off to the source.
We were quiet for the most part heading to the light but as we neared it Julie started asking us about our pasts since we never got to actually talk.
"Well my story is a bit long for how close we are. How about you Ray?"
"I'll save that for later you should tell us your story Julie."
"Well. I grew up in a house where my parents always forced me to all my work and never slack off. They made me do all my days work before getting a measly dinner of bread and cheese. Sometimes I got dessert of grapes when guests were over. If I didn't do my work my dad beat me until I agreed and did it. I went to school with bruises across half of my side once and nearly got noticed for it. I was taken away from my parents multiple times and I hated whoever I got placed with. Sometimes I hated my parents for what they did but I know it was because they loved me and wanted me to be the best I could be and just showed it in the wrong way. Anyways let's get off these dark topics because we're getting close to the light."
Me and Ray looked at each other with a sad look for a second and then looked forward and we were literally right there. It seemed to be a barrier of some sort. I pushed my hand into it and I felt warmth and happiness on the other side so I just pushed straight through the barrier and was welcomed with spears pointed at me by PONIES. I knew this was going to be weird but this? COME ON.
"Um excuse me but do you speak English?" I asked hesitantly.
They looked at us then poked us with the spear and motioned to follow them. We followed them up to a magnificent castle made of what looked like crystal. I also noticed a small heart shaped thing underneath the castle that seemed to be the source of the barrier. We entered the castle and were welcomed by the site of two important looking (if you could say a pony is important looking) ponies that had a regal sense about them. The white one with a blue mane had something complex around his throat.
"Excuse me but where are we?" I asked.
"You are in the crystal empire which is part of Equestria." The white unicorn said.
"Is that anywhere near Canterlot? We were supposed to report to a miss Princess Celestia once we arrived." I said with an air of importance.
"You will be transported there under heavy guard and will be considered dangerous and restrained if it comes to that. Once the Princess welcomes you you shall be free to wander around Equestria as freely as you like" He said.
"Alright I can stand that." I said.
He then proceeded to speak in a strange language to a couple guards and they escorted us to the barrier. Once we left the barrier the guards stayed really close to us in case we wanted to escape. Once we arrived at the train station we were placed in a small car with guards in our car and in the cars adjacent to us. We arrived in Canterlot and many of the ponies were looking at us strangely. Slowly it dawned on me that we were technically aliens on this world. As we arrived in the castle throne room (By the way did I mention how HUGE this castle is?) we were greeted by I large alicorn with a sun on her flank and regal armor equipped to here.
As the world ends it begins
*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*
An alarm going off is one of the worst things that could happen in this facility. It means one of three things. One, we're all going to die from a self destruct. Two, we're all going to die from an escaped specimen. Three, the toilets are busted. As I ran to my station in the lower levels I saw water everywhere, "Well. Shit." Not to be punny. I pressed the button that called the local plumber to come in and fix it.
(This is just a stupid chapter I added in from boredom at the beginning.)
Week 1
"Hello. My name is Dave. These are my weekly diaries that I am required to record to describe this weeks advances in deep space technology. Sooo I guess we had a plumbing back up and spent the last three days cleaning up that mess. We just now managed to get back on track developing the newest prototype of interdimensional trans communication. Other than that I don't think that we have done much to advance much technology. Oh yes I nearly forgot. WE GOT A MESSAGE. After 30 years of developing deep space probes and communications we finally received a message from deep space and I've gotta say me and the staff couldn't be prouder of ourselves. It was very staticy but after running it through extensive audio enhancing software we found it was simply saying 'Is anyone out there?' We sent out a return message following the same frequency stating that we were. This is brilliant." End message.
Week 2
"It's me again. This week we have managed to create conversation with the extraterrestrials and have found out that they are pinging messages using 'magic' and not technology. This has yet to be proven but they seem to be in a more medieval technological age so it's most likely a different method being used so 'magic' is not out of the question. I guess that's it for this week so see ya." End message.
