After finishing basic training, Shining Armour is posted to the small rural community of Roanbay. There he runs into earth ponies who view unicorns as scum. The one good side is he meets another stallion by the name of Big Macintosh and the pair become fast friends after a intense contest together.

the pair's friendship deepens when Mac reveals that he thinks he might be a colt cuddler and on his last night in the town, Shining decides to take their relationship to the next level.

Story takes place before the start of the show, before Shining and Cadance would have started dating.
