Equestria: A re-written history
Chapter 1: One little Slip
ERR! ERR! ERR! ERR! Flash began to roll over to shut his alarm clock. "Morning already?", groaned Flash. As he slapped the clock; knocking it off the nightstand. He slid off the covers and tried rolling out of bed. It didn't take long before he hit the floor.
A voice shouted from downstairs. "Flash Flyer! It's time for school, get up and get ready. And don't forget to take your history textbook today!"
"Uh Wha.... Oh! Coming Dad!" Flash called back down, and he rushed to his closest and grabbed his backpack. Then rushed down stairs to the kitchen. Flash's dad was busy organizing papers at the dining table. "Hey Dad. Do you have a meeting today? Whats with all the papers?"
He didn't even stop to look up. "Oh good you're up son." He put the papers into a briefcase. "Yes I do have a meeting today, but it's for a special client."
Flash was already stuffing down his breakfast. "But Dad, don't you say that all client meetings are special and are always important?
His Dad smiled. "Yes I do, but this meeting is for Princess Luna."
Flash nearly choked on his bagel. "Kak Kak what!? Princess Luna? What does she need a lawyer for?
Flash's dad walked over to the mirror; reviewing the final touches of his suit. "Look Flash. Princess Luna has been out of the loop for awhile. I need to present these new laws that apply to Equestria when she rules during the night."
"But Dad why can't Princess Celestia tell Luna this stuff they are sister rig-." His dad cut him off.
"Flash its part of the system. It just has to work like this. And now that I think about it, My family had to come to Ponyville to handle the case of Princess Celestia when she was elected to rule over day and night."
Flash sighed. "Oh the legendary Flyer Pegasus Family history."
Flash's dad looked at him. "Son I'd think you'd be a great lawyer," He paused to look at his watch. Oh! I better head off if I want to catch the last morning train to Canterlot. Your mom should be home by 6:00 tonight. Have a nice day at school and try to stay out of trouble till then," He waved goodbye as he rushed out the door.
A clock struck in the living room. "Ah crap! I'm gonna be late for school!" Flash dashed for the door and took flight. Not noticing that he left his textbook back in his house. But it was far two late Flash was already flying at full speed and more than halfway to school. "A lawyer! Humph! I'm the fastest Flyer in my family tree. I got wings i'm gonna use them, and besides law and politics is boring. Flying is more interesting anyway. And soon I'm gonna try out for the Wonder-Bolts academy and become a much better flyer." Flash kept thinking till he arrived at school. Two minutes before the bell.
He landed at the entrance gate and glided to the front doors just as they were closing, and slipped into the building. "Okay I got one minute to get to class. Time to see if those dashes from Sugar Cube Corner to Sweet Apple Acres are gonna pay off." He spread his wings and got three feet off the ground; then a shout rang out behind him.
"FLASH-FLYER SET YOUR HOOVES ON THE GROUND THIS INSTANT!!!!"
"Aw SHIT!!!" Flash turned around. "Principle Myers I didn't see you there," he chuckled nervously.
"Obviously," he scoffed. "Now Flyer, where exactly did you plan on heading off to? The cafeteria? Or perhaps the girls locker room?" The start-of-class bell went off.
Flash sighed as he looked up at a clock; teasing him that he was late. "Well I was on my way to history, but I guess I'll wait in the holding room till next class," and he started to walk off.
Mr. Myers smiled. "Not so fast Flyer," He stopped him with his hoof. "I've seen Your grades. You're a remarkable scientist and historian, and as luck would have it you have history right now," He pulled out a late pass and signed it and handed it to Flash.
Flash felt confused. "Just like that?"
Principle Myers laughed. "Of course not Flyer! Detention for the next three days, Now get your butt down to class!"
"But I-" Flash started to say. But Mr. Myers chimed in.
"I have yet to assign punishment for you flying in the hall."
"Bye Mr. Principle," and Flash took the note and ran off. While Principle Myers called out.
"NO RUNNING IN THE HALLS!!!"
Flash smiled as he ran to his history class. He always did enjoy history class; he was able to see his family's handy work in Equestria's past; though most of it was mainly lawyers and their efforts in the legal system. But Flash also prided himself on his scientific abilities. When he wasn't training with his flying, he was out at the library researching theories and laws of the universe. On occasion Flash worked with Twilight Sparkle, Princess Celestia's prized pupil. The two often tried to test the effects of high speed flying; which usually ended up leaving Flash crashing into Trees over the Ever-Free forest. These subjects, Flash had no problems with, but every other class he didn't have as high as grades as these two. Flash reached his class with the note held in his teeth. With a deep breath he opened the door and walked in.
His teacher looked back from the chalkboard. "Well if it isn't Mr. Flyer, I'm glad you could join us today. So whats your excuse this time? A dragon burnt your homework? The wind took my backpack from me? Or perhaps you discovered Atlantis, and you slept in because of the trip back was tiresome."
"No Mr. i'm just late. No excuses," remarked Flash as he started to walk to his desk.
"Well Flash as you are well aware, you need a-" Flash interrupted his teacher.
"A signed pass from a teacher or a staff member of the school to enter class late," he handed the note to his teacher with a slight grin. "Here you go Mr. Codsdale"
The teacher swiped the pass from Flash and started to hold it up to the light. "Well it's not forged, and by the way Flash that's Professor to you, now take your seat and take out your textbook," Instructed his teacher while he continued to write on the board.
Flash froze. "Oh no! I forgot it at home!" His Teacher turned back around.
"Flash is their a problem?"
Flash looked at his teacher "Um no Professor sir, I'll take my seat now." He started to look around at the other students' textbooks on his walk to his desk hoping he would at least know what the class was working on. They were all closed and he had no clue what the topic was. "Oh crap!" Flash thought. "This might go downhill really fast."
Flash sat down in his chair with an anxiousness written on his face . Professor Codsdale resumed his teaching. "Now before I was interrupted we were about to go on page 432. Now who would like to give a little background information on the subject? "How about the last person to get to page 432 in the book has to describe the subject."
Everypony began flipping through textbooks. Flash felt the pressure sinking in. Soon Professor Codsdale was going to see that he had no textbook. "If he catches me with no book hes gonna poke fun at m-"
"Mr. Flyer where is your textbook?"
"Uh oh." Flash gulped.

Chapter 2: A History Lesson, a Dream, and a Bet
"Well Mr. Flyer i'm waiting." said Professor Codsdale now looking down at him from the chalkboard.
"I gotta think of something quick," thought Flash as he started scanning the room for anything that could save him. Then he saw it, he recognized the pages on the students had the books open to. It was about the events surrounding Nightmare Moon. Flash knew this story front to back and even some background information about the court case because his father often told him about Famous Equestrian cases to help put him to sleep when he was a young pegasus.
"Well it looks like Mr. Flyer forgot his book again, and can you believe that this pony wants to be a Wonder-Bolt?" teased the Professor as he started to go off. "Be careful when you apply. You don't want to forget your wings." The whole class started to giggle. "Well if you can't tell us anything I guess i'll pick somepon-"
"Wait sir," Flash rose out of his desk and took in a long inhale and started recalling everything his father told him. "Approximately 1,000 years prior to Princess Luna's return, she and her sister Princess Celestia engaged in an argument on who would rule during the day because Princess Luna was unhappy with her role and jealous of her sister. And as a result, the darkness consumed her and the princess of the night became nightmare moon."
"Alright Mr. Flyer that will be enoug-" Mr. Codsdale tried to say but Flash kept on talking.
"Using the elements of harmony. Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Loyalty, and Magic. Princess Celestia was able to seal away Nightmare Moon, and what most ponies don't know is that the exchan-"
"Mr. Flyer that will be enough from you! Please take your seat," the professors angry gaze was more than enough for Flash. He sat back down into his chair and heard his classmates around him laughing from behind their books. "Well class what Mr. Flyer said is all surprisingly correct. However those are all the final events of the story. There are of course more things involved with this than just a simple sibling rivalry. The cause of all these events can be traced to the agricultural revolution.
Flash began to fade out. He did know the story, but when Mr. Codsdale started to talk about pre-pre-history it made his eyes heavy along with his head. He put slid back in his chair and put his head on top of the desk. And soon everything became quiet.
He later woke up and to his surprise the room was empty. He rubbed his eyes hoping everyone would reappear. Flash noticed the chalkboard was wiped cleaned. "Why is the board clean? Professor hasn't clean that damn thing since the 2nd quarter of school started, and more importantly where is everypony?" He got up from his desk and began to walk around the classroom. It was completely empty. "Where did everything go? No way the Professor could get all this out of the room." He looked at the desks. "Let alone motivate the class to help him out." Flash checked the window. Nothing appeared out of place. Everything outside looked normal. Flash began to walk towards the door. He poked his head out the doorway and looked up and down the hallways, but still there was nothing.
"HELLOOOO!!!!!!! IS ANYONE HERE!!!!!" Flash held his breath hoping someone would call back. He started to head out for the front door of the school while calling out loud along the way. "Okay guys very funny. Now come out and scare me." But no one called back.
Flash made to the front gate and still he didn't see anyone. He gave one more look and shrugged his shoulders and sighed. "Schools out I guess." He pressed his hoof against the gate handle but it wouldn't open. "what the hay?" Flash thought. They never lock this until nighttime." He looked again to see if anyone could see him. Flash shook his head and turned on his front legs and kicked the gate with his hind legs as hard as he could. It didn't budge. He kicked it again. It still didn't come loose. Flash smacked his head on the bars. "Oh come ON!!!!" He shoved the gate on last time with his front hoof. "Dumb gate," growled Flash. "Maybe theirs another way out. He turned around and began to walk back.
Suddenly a soft explosion went off in the distance. Flash quickly turned back around. Up in the sky was a sonic rainboom. It was unmistakable. The circles that surrounded the center of light shined bright with all the colors as it expanded off into the air. Flash got excited. "It must be Rainbow Dash shes the only one known to have pulled a sonic rainboom." He cupped his hooves around his mouth. "RAINBOW DASH OVER HER-" Then the object sped up even more. Flash soon became fixed on it as it flew up in the sky. It was starting going faster and faster. Then another explosion occurred, but this one knocked him to the floor. Flash scrambled to his hooves to try and find the object again, but it was gone. The only thing that remained were two solid beams of blue light side by side and angled away like a V.
"What was that!?" Flash asked himself. "The sonic rainboom I recognize, but what in the hay is the second one supposed to be!?" Soon something hit Flash. BING! BING! BING! The loud sound shook the ground and Flash started to feel light headed. Soon a voice called out Flash!.....Flash!.....FLASH!!!!!!
The classroom came back into view as Flash woke up. He groaned. "Did you really have to wake me? I was in a thought provoking dream."
A familiar voice spoke back. "So your dreams are more important than your grade?" Flash snapped up into his chair and looked up at Professor Codsdale who had smirk drawn across his face. "Well Flash not even the bell woke you up. It must have been a thought provoking dream." Flash started to shrink in his chair. He prepared to be scalded but this time it was different. "Flash is something wrong?" The question made Flash relax a bit. "Now I know I give you a rough time, but you're also my best student. I'd recommend you for an honors class but you're already in one so whats not keeping your attention?"
Flash leaned forward and crossed his hooves and laid then on top of his desk. "Well see recently I applied to the Wonder-Bolts academy."
The Professor sat down in the desk next to him. "And......."
"Well I got accepted and my trial is two days from now. But I heard they changed the course and have more strict officers. And I just can't seem to get any sleep 'cause of it." "I hope he buys this one" Flash prayed in his mind.
The Professor leaned back and narrowed his eyes. "Flash do you think you're a good flyer?"
Flash laughed. "Not just a good flyer, an excellent flyer!" The Professor rose out from the desk.
"Okay then so you have nothing to worry about. If you're a good flyer then in two days time nothing should be an issue for you. So don't come sleeping in my class anymore. I'm putting my hoof down on this one."
"But sir me sleeping hasn't been an issue before," Flash protested.
"Alright how about a deal? You make the Wonder-Bolts and you're no longer allowed to sleep in my class, but for some weird reason you don't make it in I'll look the other way if you sleep; as long as you keep your grades up."
Flash smiled as he swung his backpack over his wings. "Deal" They shook hooves and Flash left the classroom.
