Chapters Fluttershy in the Sky with Diamonds
'This new town is so peaceful. I cant believe nopony else looks for this place. Maybe... maybe they'll like me. So far all the ponies seem really nice, and that DJ Pon-3 or whatever she called herself looked like such a great time. Now i need to find a place to stay. Hopefully there are some good inns, or a barn or something. I can't wait to see what's in store!' Sky said as he enters the center of town.
Sky Writer is a new Pegasus in Ponyville. He's nothing short of a drifter looking for a place to call home. From city to city, village to village, town to town... made of clouds, he's heard of this place called Ponyville. A town of acceptance, virtue, and simplicity. Just the things he needs in his life, other than a good mare of course.
Sky really didn't know anypony, and he wasn't sure how the ponies in this town would take to him. sure he used his size to intimidate folks back in the city, but these were country folk. Even he didn't want to get involved with them. He's heard stories of Ponyville. Its not that he didn't want to cause fear because they would fight back, he didn't do it because ponies from all over tell about how mellow, nice, and more than anything, accepting these simpler ponies were. He couldnt wait to plant his hooves here and make a name for himself, but first he had to figure out where he should go first. maybe he should ask around town.
As he trots down the road with his head down, he sees somepony he must talk to. There was a mare with the most beautiful color coat of yellow, and a pink mane that made him feel like confident enough just to see her.
"H-hi", he said with his quivering voice. "M-my name is Sky Writer. You seem like a really nice pony and I'm new in town. could you help me?"
He smiles as she takes a minute to answer him. He's excited to see that she's going to help him. Maybe life in this town wont be so bad after all.
She goes to answer this very nice stallion behind her. He was very timid about his voice. She has been feeling very confident about herself with the help of her friends, so even having a decent conversation with a normal pony should be good for her. "Actually yes." She takes a deep breath and goes to introduce herself. "Hi my name is Flutt..."
She freezes at the sight of him. Even though she had no idea what to expect, this stallion didnt sound anyhting like he looked. He sounded very astute, polite, and just like a normal pony... but she was wrong. At a closer glance, she notices the stallions stature and she quickly catches herself to look for a way out of this. "o-oh..." This mare sprints for the nearest table and hides as fast as she can.
Sky put out his hoof to try and stop her, but she's quick when she's scared. "But!..." He slowly trots to her table and lifts up the skirt of the table to see her. "Miss... please..." He looks around to see that many other ponies around were staring at him. There was this one sky blue pony with a rainbow colored mane that was giving him a very stern look. He didn't have much time and was hoping this pony would just talk to him.
Everywhere he goes, Cloudsdale, Manehatten, Clotamore, and now Ponyville... 'Somepony, please talk to me...' In his mind Sky fights himself... holding on to his sanity. 'Why.. what did I do wrong... *sniffles* I just want to be friends'. No matter where he went, just from being big, he couldn't find his place, even in this safe haven.
There is no point. She just cowers and keeps saying 'Go away. Please, go' to Sky. He knew this is how the townspeople would react to him. "Well... thanks for... *sobs* n-never-mind. I'll just go find some other-pony to help me find a home. Sorry for scaring you".
Sky lets down the skirt of the table and slowly trots off. His head looks down and the mare hears the drips of water hitting the ground. She pokes her head out to see if its raining, only to find that it was Sky. His tears are running down his face, and she saw the sorrow in his eyes when he looks back. She hurt him, and she knew it.
The yellow pony looks long and hard at him, but he just keeps trotting away. She looks up into the sky to see the light blue pony looking back at her. She's not mad anymore, just concerned for her friend. The pony flew down to see her friend under the table, but all she heard was the yellow one cry out to the stallion flying away. He could barely hear her, but all he heard was 'Leave me. Your so scary and I don't want to see you... Just go.'
"I'm... I'm sorry Sky..." She whimpers as she fly's back to her house, feeling sorry for him, feeling like she should have helped him, feeling like she was very very wrong.

As he fly off, Sky finds out quickly that the ponies in this little town get word around quick. He gets a grip over himself and lands in another part of town. There are less shops here and only a few houses. One of which is a large farm in the background. He trots over to a nearby house to see if somepony is home. It's not to late in the day yet, so he hopes to find somepony to help him. *knock knock knock* "Excuse me? Is anypony home?" says Sky. "Hold your horses, I'm comin'." Sky chuckles a little at the irony of the idiom.
"What!" came from the sad grape-gray pony. "Well are you gonna answer me or just stand there all large and in charge you big moron."
Sky was taken back, but gathered himself to answer back quick without looking stupid, but it was a little late for that. "My name is Sky, I'm looking for a place to stay for the night, I was wonder-"
"Save your breath big-guy, there's only one way your stayin' at Berry's house tonight, and that's if you can make me feel like a mare *hick*, if you know what I mean" She winks at him and stumbles to hold herself at the doorway.
Sky blushes, and she can see that. She attemps to pull him in, but in her current state she was in no position to get him in the house, but he goes in anyway. "So I'm guessing your name is Berry? Mines Sky, Sky Writer. A-are you here alone?" He asks nervously, hoping to get a yes.
"Nope *hick*, my daughter is upstairs playin' with her toys and then shes going to tuck herself in. So take a *hick* seat, try and get a little more... comfortable ." She makes her way into the kitchen to get a drink, not that she needed it. As she went, Sky made his way upstairs to Berry's fillies room. He pokes his head in and sees her playing, but shes not really doing much, just sitting there, sighing, crying. The filly sees him and he jumped behind the door.
"It's ok, you can come in." the filly called to him. Sky responded "O-oh, I'm sorry, I should'a knocked. I'll just be going." Sky starts to make his way out of the room "Wait!" says the filly. "Are you gonna hurt my mommy?"
Sky was very surprised she asked this, so all he could do was answer with a question. "Why would you think that?"
"Well, my mommy always meets big guys like you, except your the biggest yet by far, and she always sounds like shes getting hurt that night, and always wakes up with a pain in her head. So please, don't hurt her to bad..." The filly starts to cry a little. Sky couldn't help but feel bad for her, and by the sounds of it, Berry hasn't been acting the best toward her daughter. All of the sudden, Sky had a stroke of genius.
"Listen, I'm not gonna hurt Berry, I just met her. But you seem like a brilliant young one, why don't you join us down-stairs." Sky didn't really know what he was doing, but he knew what to do to fix the problem. He has faced so many problems in life, he cant stand to see anypony else go through hardships, especially if their just a foal.
"But mommy says I should go down there, that I'm not old enough to be there." She did seem a little nervous, but curiosity got the best of her, so without another word she agreed to go with Sky.
"Oh baby, i made you my special one-night only dri... wh... what is she doing here.. ummm... what was your name again?" Berry was surprised to see her filly playing with Sky downstairs. She was laughing and having a good time, something Berry hasn't seen in a while. "Pinchy *sniffles* I haven't seen you like this for a while. You look just like when your father..." Berry stopped, and started to cry, but her tears are those of joy. She's remembering why she kept Pinchy, why she needed her around. Because all that time she spent with the late Mr. Punch, all that joy, was made on that one day, the day Pinchy came around, the day Pinchy came into her life, the day he died. Sky watched as the grey-grape pony's mane and coat became brighter, and her smile grew as she quickly went to her little one and squeezed her in her hooves.
"Sky?" Said Berry.
"Yes?"
"You not at all like ponies are saying. You can stay the night."
Sky smiled and hugged the mares before going to bed, then he thinks about the first part of Berry's last sentence that night.
"Wait.... What ARE ponies saying?!?!?!"
Fluttershy in the Sky with Diamonds
The next morning Sky woke up to a breakfast in front of him, and two mares with large smiles hovering over him. He squints to try and get used to the light. "Wha-what? This looks awesome. But why?" Sky didn't realize how much of an impact last night was to the girls, most of all Berry.
"We just wanted to thank you for last night." Pinchy said with a smile. "I hope you don't mind."
Berry shooed away Pinchy before Sky could respond. "Sky..." She kept getting caught up holding back her tears. "You saved me last night, in more ways then you know." She sits on his lap after he moves the breakfast out of the way on the couch.
"What do you mean? I know I saw something change last night, and I don't just mean your attitude. But I don't understand what happened to you, so I guess you wanna get to that, right?" He chuckles and rubs the back of his head, but inside he's eagerly waiting for her response.
"Discord..." She stopped there. Sky looked at her and instant shock came to his face. Sky leaned forward and to talk, "But... But how? He was resealed."
Berry turned to him quick as lightning. "Wrong!.. Celestia had Princess Twilight and her friends release him with the elements of harmony Months ago, back before she became a princess. He ran amok, but kept the chaos to Ponyville. One of her friends, Fluttershy, was able to convince Discord to use his powers for the benefit of pony-kind, but they never realized the damage that he'd done and never fixed because of how secluded it was. The chaotic and crazy animals actually..." She began to cry, looking deep into Sky's eyes. "They killed my husband!! They came upon him when he-" Sky quickly shot out of his seat and pulled her close to him, to let her wash her sorrows into Sky's shoulder, and let the pain rain away. She continues the story. "Af- *sniffle* after he left us, I felt nothing but sorrow, pain, emptiness... then I gave birth to Pinchy... She was the only thing... The only thing that kept me from ending the pain! Ending it all... " She cry's more with Sky holding her. He didn't know what to say, so he just whispered into her ear, "Shhhhhhh. It's alright, I'm here to help. *he chuckles* I'm a friend."
"Oh Sky... Just, just thank you. *she hugged him* you really are a great friend." Berry was smiling, crying, but still smiling.
"Of course, you let me stay here. It's the least I can do. I mean, I got lucky enough to meet yo- wait!" Sky stops at a sudden realization. Berry looks back at him. "What's wrong?"
"What was the name of the mare that stopped Discord? Flutter...Flutter-"
"Fluttershy?"
"Yes!!! That's it! Thats the mare I met in the market the other day." Sky's smile almost instantaneously disappiered after he remembered what happened that day. "Oh, right... She probably wants nothing to do with me."
Berry looks at him blankly, but then remembers something. "Wait, you were the pony in the market that day? I heard this monsteresk sized pony scared poor Flutters into hiding at her cottage. That couldn"t have been you, could it?"
As much as Sky wanted to say no, or even 'I don't know', he knew it could have only been him. "Yes, it has to be." After hearing how the towns people described him, Sky starts to curl back into his mental hole. He gets up from the couch and makes way for the door.
"Sky, where are you going? Aren't you gonna stay for a little longer. I owe it to-" He cuts off Berry before she could finish. His blank eyes looked back at her right before he opens the door.
"I need to find a new home, you've been dear to me, but I paid my dues and I have to find my own place." He looks down at the ground and watches as one tear makes its way down his face to the floor. "I-I need to see Fluttershy, where can I find her."
"But Sky..."
"Please Berry, I need this."
"She lives on the outskirts of the Everfree Forest. Sky-"
"Love her and make everyday special to her Berry, for me..." Sky starts back for the door, hoping to find this mare that has made him feel like the worst pony in history, this pony this in one short meeting has torn his heart out and fed it to the dogs, this pony that he thinks he may love. She was one pony in a random market on a random day... why? Right before he leaves as he goes through the door, he turns back one last time.
"How's that saying go, new friends, old tricks?"
