A New Resident

The sun had just gone down over the distant mountains, and the night was in a beautiful colors of red and orange as the sunset greeted the world, soon it would be night.

Just outside of the quiet town of Ponyville there lies Sweet Apple Aches. Several tress was shaking letting go of their apples as the night slowly took over and covered the world in a beautiful dark blue and black color with the moon, along with its neighboring stars, shined down upon the land.

AppleJack brushed some sweat off her forehead as she began to pull the cart filled with barrels, which are filled with apples, towards the barn where they stash them up. She had been skipping work because she had to help her friends and siblings with their own stuff so she figured tonight she would work overtime.

After lifting off the apples inside of the barn she walks out and closes the door behind her, her long ponytail a bit dirtier than usual thanks to the barn. "We gotta clean up that barn soon.." She said to herself as she took her hat off and waved it at herself to cool herself down. "Gettn' mighty hot around here...." Her ears peaked as she noticed it, it was getting rather hot around here. She figured that it may have just been her imagination and turned around to go towards the house itself.

A scream froze her in place, she turned towards the source of the voice: The Everfree Forest. Inside amongst the tree's trunks she could see a bright red and orange light flickering back and forth: A fire! And somepony's inside of it! Quick as a whip she grabbed a barrel and ran down to a river that ran nearby the farm, filled it with water and then stormed, while balancing the barrel as good as she could, into the forest.

Finally coming to the source she saw a wide field, with long grass going as far as the eye could see, right at the top of it she could see a figure, it was standing in a stance like it stood ready for combat. But once in a while the form would twitch and shake while a scream came out from the pony. She wasted no time and stormed up to the pony and grabbed the barrel's hook and swung with it covering the pony in water. "Don' worry partner! I got ya!" She yelled as she made sure to splash as much as she could over the pony. After the fire was gone the pony fell to the ground.

When the fire was gone she noticed a few things; first off, the ground beneath the was completely untouched of the heat, next was the pony himself. As far as she could tell, it was a colt, around her age, a unicorn and had a dark red coat and black and red mane. The next thing she saw was when he opened his eyes, the pony's pupils looked like ones that would come from a reptiles, a line a bit curved going straight down his eyes instead of the round form like other ponies.

The surprise she got from his eyes froze her for a bit, she finally snapped out of it when he heard the colt lowly speak. "co...cold..." She heard something and leaned down to him. "What? What is it?" "so...cold..." His voice was shaking as his coat slowly got a bit of an lighter color then before. "Right" Aj nodded. She didn't notice the light change of the colts coat because of the darkness. She soon got him onto her back. "Hang on partner. I'll get ya nice and warm before ya know it." and with that she ran as fast as she could back to the farm with the new equine hanging onto her back, as they left the clearing a figure flew up from the nearby trees, a pair of cold eyes watching them as they left.

She had to slow down a bit as he almost fell off from time to time and also because several roots were surfaced. Soon enough they were both out of the forest and out in the open. She sprinted as fast as she could up to the house and bucked the door open. Granny Smith came into the entrance with a pair of eyes dragging themselves open. "Applejack? What in the hay are ya doin' in the middle of the night?" "Granny, Ah got no time to explain, get some blankets quick!" The noise soon woke up her siblings who came down and quickly they got the cold, slow breathing unicorn under several blankets on the couch. "Where did you find him big sis?" An a bit exhausted Applebloom asked as she looked at the red unicorn. Getting nice and warm under the blanket, his coat had returned to his dark red color.

"From the forest..he was on fire.." She slowly said as she first noticed it now, the colts body was fully on flames when she found him, yet his body had barely any burn marks on him, the worst case of burns were a few marks around his horn, mouth and nose. And yet he still laid there breathing like he had the worst case of the Ponypocks.

"Ah don' even know who he is..."

Under a set of blankets a mind razed like a wildfire and several images came into his head. "What happened?...I remember...I was out, talking to...her..."it is time to train" she said.....I. nodded and....set myself ablaze but the pain it....it was new, my warmth could not take it..but now..I feel the warmth again in my body, it's soft...and delicate, how did I end up here? It was...a mare..orange mare..she came to me and released me from my fire...brought me here....where is here?....where am i.....Where am I...WHERE AM I?" With a jolt the colt opened up his eyes and got up from below the blankets and looked around, he was breathing rapidly and and his reptile eyes jolted around looking. The sun's rays and colors were visible on the horizon through the window, it's dawn. His gaze soon enough fell upon the floor when he saw her, an orange mare with blonde hair, mane in a ponytail and a traditional cowboy hat next to her on the floor. She was sleeping in a blanket herself...looks like she took it from her own bed...she..she slept beside him during the night? She was watching him, but why? He began to move like he was trying to get out of the couch, but he soon felt exhaustion fall upon him. "Maybe it's too early." He said before lying down again with the blankets covering up nicely and warms him good. He gave a small smile, as he was grateful to the orange mare for taking him here and....she's kinda pretty.
