Chapters Book
Hello there pony. If you are actually reading this then I applaud you. I mean Celestia has probably hid this thing in the deepest darkest place she could find. So you are either really curious or just plane lucky. Of course this is assuming you are a pony. If not then I formally greet you new dominent species that is reading this.
In any case thats not why you are reading this, no, no, no, you want to see what is in it. With a title and description I can't blame you for being curious; it is in your nature.
So lets start at the begining, with the creator and her gods. "But wait," you say there are no gods in Equestria. Well thats just what Celestia wants you to think; those were the terms of our agreement. Don't worry I will get to that though, I promise.
Originally there was but an idea, a seed if you want a metaphor, something that had the potential to grow into something beautiful. There are several versions of this part, as old as I am I wasn't born yet, some say the creator was alone in making it all; while, others say she managed to gather a team that became one to perfect our world. In any case our world was born.
If you are wondering our creator's name well you are out of luck. You see no one knows not even us gods, although I once swore I heard a bit of it something along the lines of, "...ren Fau..."
What is for sure is that the world was born. The only problem? No one was in it! This new utopia needed some creatures to spearhead its development, but inhabitants could not all be made by one. So using her omnipotent abilities the creator gave birth to the gods of equestria.
Each of us unique in our own ways. Only three of us actually looked similar to the creator, but it was as if she was devided among us. One recieved the wings, another her horn, and finally her strength. The rest of the immortals were in various shapes and sizes. Many looked like the combination of wild animals, I like to think these guys were what happened when the creator just fused the first two things she saw. I mean a lion and an eagle really?
Of course all these new beings had one desire to know why we exist and what we are to do. The first thing the creator asked of us was to find what abilities nature had given us. We could see how leaving it up to chance bothered the creator, I found it strangely satisfying. She said, "Harmoney can only be achieved through your natural progression."
Centuries passed, like hours to us, we slowly discovered our own talents not knowing this would serve as what we were to rule as gods. I noted that once we discovered our place our coats, or feathers and scales respectively, changed into a very holy or blinding white.
Then the creator asked something strange of us; she wanted us to fill her world. We did not understand, but she explained it as creating living beings in our own images and giving them talents based on our own.
I found this rather simple. I flew into the clouds, where I called home, and worked on my creation. Much trial and error led to the most majestically powerful creator in the world. The gifts I granted them was to control the weather and live in the clouds, this being my own power and kingdom. They were born with flight to be free and advanced vision to allow what they do to be possible.
Wait before I continue this would be a good time to introduce myself. I mean where are my manners. Hello there reader, I am the king of the sky, the lord of pegasi, the god of chance, none other than the one and only Black Phoenix , but please just call me BP.

She reread that last line again. Princess Twilight Sparkle had just been corrinated and was already looking around her new home. Twilight was familiar with the castle's basic structure; although, she was still exploring it in its entirety. This led to her excitement in finding this "hidden" library. There were many interesting and strange books to read here.
There titles and genre's varied, like Defence Against the Dark Arts to How to Pull the perfect Prank, but the one that caught Twilight's eye was non-other than one entitled, "Equestria: Secret Origins by BP." This ended up being the one she chose to open. Something about a real look at history was calling to her.
Now having read the first chapter though Twilight knew not what to think. If this were a story it would be very interesting yet it claims to be the truth. And that name, why did it sound so familiar? Had she read it before? Twilgiht could not say.
Could he really be a god? Twilight had to wonder if these gods were real. She had never read anything of them before; although, the book did mention that they were to be kept secret. But Celestia would never keep information from the ponies of Equestria she was far too kind for that. Still Twilight had to wonder why this book was so hidden, or why, if it was such a taboo, it was not destroyed.
All these questions and thoughts came to Twilight after her initial read. Also some things this book said were strange just because of how they were written. Maybe its explained later! This was more than enough to inspire the mare to continue reading.

I guess this as good a time as any to tell you more about me. In fact I probably should before I keep going.
Alright in case you didn't already catch it my name is Black Phoenix, and yes I know it sounds stupid. I have no choice in what the worshipers choose to call me. Too bad I am not allowed to change it, so just call me BP. And no I am not a flaming bird. Even though on curtain occasion I kind of look like one according to the mass populous. I am about a bit above average height, which isn't even that huge a deal since shapeshifting is a basic god trick. Also a distinct trait I have going for me are my wings. You see my wings actually have pointed feathers instead of round like most pegasi, also considering my body size my wings are pretty huge, but you know what they say about a stallion with huge wings wink wink. For my personality well I am a rather laid back pony who likes to give nicknames and comment on things. I love to show everyone else who is the best because they deserve to know. And I am not very good with the whole magic thing, it just isn't for me. Um, I hate rules and most things orderly they just aren't that much fun. The whole concept of harmony just bugs me since it leaves no open room for discovery or innovation. Also I hate when things or creatures are put down by others without full understanding. I know that perspective is key, mostly from experience, I mean who do you think everyone points to when something out of order or unlikely happens. I may not be as intellectually uptight as the other gods, but I would love to see any of them best me in combat. Then there is the stuff I do. Lets see I was created of the sky so naturally I have a connection to winds and flight, I am the divine ruler of pegasi because I you know made them, oh and inventor of weather. This is of course back when weather was free and unpredictable. Hence my position as the god of chance. This also explains my secondary power.
Basically along with their respective domain each god has some control of one of one other less obvious element. For example the Unicorn godess has dominion in leadership and control, but with those abilities comes her most famous power magic. You must take into account this was back when magic was a rarity. As for me my natural uncontrollable heated nature gave me the ability to manipulate, create, and overall be the master of fire. No I am not a maniac with it, the flames mearly reprosent my unpredictable powerful nature that can be destructive, but lead to all new beauty. On top of that we even get godly abilities these come with your respective territory. So me I can see every possible outcome that might come out of any event ever. Now you may be thinking, "well thats just swell! He can see the future now too?" Well its not that black and white. Like I said it is every possible outcome who knows which one may become true. And on top of that I am blind to any that involve me in any way, shape, or form.
Back to the name's origin though, one key fact must be noted about the fires that come out of my body. They are sort of like mood flames. Whatever color they might end up coming out as is reflective of whatever feelings I am experiencing at the time. So for example: Blue is pleasure, Red is pain, Green is dishonesty just to name one or two. Rainbow is represents absolute joy and happiness. Thus the birth of not only the rainbow, but the whole Rainbow family. I bet even in your time the Rainbow of that generation is trying to prove themselves as the best there is! And there is gray that shows annoyance or any kind of upset nature. So thats your basic color tutorial, moving on.
This was back when pegasi were first experimenting with the whole building with clouds thing. It looked absolutely nothing like how it does today with the rich columns and perfect symmetry. Architecture is one of the few things I enjoyed completely in order. Clouds are truly the best building material too, so light yet sturdy, well if you can touch them. In any case at the time they looked more like straw huts then towering monoliths. Also back then dragons were not the intellectual power houses they are in more recent times. Then again the whole, "they are vicious monsters" stereotype had to come from somewhere.
Ok let me give you a little insight. At this point in time pegasi were a peaceful race. They were literally the embodiments of kindness. Also they were all one with nature and such. Some even said they could communicate with animals. Which I could suppose might happen, I mean there is always a chance. Good thing I like animals. This nature was so imbedded into them that I bet it partially remnant today. Granted in a much fewer amount seeing as to what was about to come. Suffice to say these pegasi were not prepared for an attack.
So from what I have been able to gather dragons have an innate desire to want to destroy straw houses. Although this base instinct has been suppressed through the push of higher intelligence. In this time though that was not the case. As I said earlier the pegasi's buildings looked exactly like those built of straw. So when a dragon came flying in...well, lets just say that instinct kicked in. Luckily nopony was hurt too badly, mostly because it is pretty hard to put a cloud made of water on fire. Still there were slight burns and a ton of mental scarring. My pegasi begged for me to come and save them, and considering what I saw, so many filly tears, I gladly obliged. The fact that this dragon had the balls to try and burn down my city really set me off. He apologized as best he could considering his mental capacity, but I didn't listen. I flamed on and flew at him full force. The that surrounded me were pure black, this color was new to me, then again so was the emotion. This thing called anger it burned hot. I was told later that the flames around me combined with how fast I was flying at him made me look like this thing called a phoenix. Starting to connect the dots? Don't worry you will get it in full soon enough.
I flew at him full force and unleashed heavens' wrath...too bad that hothead dragon god had to step in the way and stop me! How dare he apologize for this mistake. He spat in my face saying how he will make sure this never happens again. He was insulting my people saying going to war would only yield more casualties than the actual event. Who in their right mind would try to find the rational logical solution that avoids bigger issues? And how dare he imply my race is would not be able to take on his flying lizards! Then...oh then he did the worst. He had the audacity to take my revenge away from me. NO ONE TAKES FROM ME! Whoa where did that come from? Anywho he punished his dragon, never did see him again its a good thing too, apologized again and vanished after giving me a lovely fruit basket, THE NERVE!
I never wanted my ponies to ever be hurt like that again. So to keep them safe, and show the other gods, I did the unheard of, I militarized. My ponies became warriors not just fliers. Every filly knew the basics of combat before even getting into the air. We would never be seen as weak again. Pegasi are best ponies....
I was then dubbed Black Phoenix by the people, and I liked it. Shut up! I thought it sounded cool at the time ok. And apparently as soon as the people call you it it's your name, THANKS MOM! (explained later patience) Although the statue was pretty awesome. And did these guys know how to make some armor. I mean I looked good. And so humble too. Well, at least we are better then those stuck up unicorns. I did, and still do, think the earth ponies are under-appreciated though.
At the time I wanted to push our power and pride so I even turned my name into a logo. We swung the black phoenix flag at only the most important of events. I even got the thing embedded onto my body. Right on the flank for the ladies, wink, just kidding it was just the most logical place. Heck they even caught on, like to the point where the creator took notice. She of course put her spin to it making about growing up and destiny and blah blah blah. She even gave them a dumb name like cootie stamp or something like that. I also altered my appearance a little bit. I changed my mane and tail color to black, to fit the whole theme. Added some dark tips to my already pointed wings too. And as a little extra to show more prowess I even enlarged my hooves, a rare trait on a pegasus, also making them black, I mean I have to keep the color scheme.
By the way if you have been wondering where you heard my name before you should be able to figure it out from the hints I have been laying out in this chapter story, but don't worry if not I am going to get the part where I become famous; although...in some circles I am considered much more infamous.

Twilight was stunned. She did not expect this from a history book. She might not have had a way to disprove this so called truth, but she couldn't believe it was truth.
Twilight definitley had to ask Celestia about this book now it was the only way to discover if- waite....
Now that she thought about it this book had yet to mention Celestia's role, or any her known history for that matter. Even if what the book claimed that what she knew was false there would still be traces of what she knew. How would they come to play in this "new" history.
"I guess you have to keep reading and find out........"
Twilight jumped! "Wh-who is there?" she managed to squek out. She did't see anybody and yet she could of sworn she herd a stallion's voice.
Could it have been the book? Did it hold some sort of magical power? Considering the world she lived in Twilight would not have been surprised. Still talking books thats new to her. All things considered there really was only one option as the book said its time to keep reading. Because so far she was confused how would this all come together in the end what deep complexities might be explored in this else world view of what was so-
"Maybe if you would stop pausing every chapter to analyze and read the whole thing first it might make more sense!" The stallions annoyed voice came out.
"Eeep! Ok magic book." Twilight let out as she delved back into the world of the book.

Yeah that might have been a little less cheerful for you sorry. Trust me this isn't one of those stories we are not getting too graphic here this is purely educational. Granted and some times creatures do call for me to unleash heavan's wrath! For the most part though I am a rather chill god.
Where was I? oh yeah booty stickers. Wait....ok my proofreader is saying they are called cutie marks. Sounds close enough.
Anywho since those things the Creator had gotten more light-hearted. Even to the point where she insisted we call her Mother. It is the creator's new thing about love and tolerance and such. By this point I was thinking the creator was loosing her edge slowly pulling back what influence she had. It wasn't hard to see, I mean she let me get away with so much more now.
I don't like to say I am a prankster, but there is always a chance for something to go wrong. Just so ya know I wrote that with a huge grin. Some people call what I do chaos and well they aren't completely wrong, but why is chaos a bad thing? Life would be meaningless without it, no discovery, no adaptation, no....fun.
Back to Mom though, she was implamenting all these new features into the world. For one she was pushing us to bring together our different races. There was a flaw in that plan though. You see us gods do not get along, so by nature our creations did not get a long. It took a nice firm push from Mother to get those crazy kids together.
Stop me if you have heard this one. Giant flying horse ghosts that feed on hatred and anger freeze most of the world forcing the royalties to move and come together in love and peace to fix everything. If you guessed Hearth Warming's Eve then you are correct. Now you are probably expecting me to debunk this and tell the true gritty explanation of what happened, speaking of the fallen ponies and destruction of land that ruined whatever life that could have been had there with the royal families banding together to use their unique abilities to banish those monsterous creatures.
And I wish I could, but I am saddened to report that the stage play versions you see with the cheesey dialogue and overacting are all actually true. I mean who would of guessed right? Granted there was a bit more chaos, but the play captured everything. Thanks Mom for taking away what could have been another epic story in the bindings of my book! Sorry reader I litterally can't say more or else I will be here ranting for a couple thousand years.
I can tell you this though the weather situation was never the same. I mean during it was beyond aggravating having my mother breathing down my neck making me ignore my subjects prairs for warmer weather. And to add insult to injury since then all ponies want scheduled weather. Gone is the surprisingly nice day, no more will there be nice rains to brake up a drought, gone is the out of nowhere snow in summer. Sad really.
I didn't give up so easily though. I kept arguing with her to keep some piece of the land still natural. This whole argument dragged out for too long to remember. Eventually after a ton of begging, pleading, and excepting some new job she finally allowed me one place of random nature. The thing was she knew my largest weakness and tried to use it against me. She said that I could keep my work area in this little forest, if I could come up with an eternal name for it. Clever girl. Mother knew I had a hard time coming up with names; especially ones that sounded cool. Thats why I never could come up with a nice alternative to my given name. So I was stumped, and I could swear she was enjoying it. We sat there just staring at each other, and by that I mean me having this dumb look on my face as she watched the wheels turn in my head. Luckily my "sis" the unicorn god walked into the room right at this time. Now this is after I had thrown out lame ideas, like BP's Super Funland! or Forest Classic , these not at all receiving mother's approval; suffice to say I was grasping for any ideas. This is when my good ol' sister walked by and barely noticeably let out a soft suggestion in my ear. You could not imagine how much my face lit up with from that idea. So I turned to Mother and said, "How does the Everfree Forest sound?" This one seemed to satisfy her, and the rest well that is just history.
The whole family dynamic we had going never really caught me onto me. Sure we all shared a "Mother" but what really connected us? We all did our own thing and never really interacted more then was entirely required. Still though that isn't to say I don't like any of my immortal family. Like Earthy, I shall call him that no matter how much it bugs him, who is one of the most interesting creatures I have ever seen. He is so strong both physically and mentally. He never lets anyone down nor will he give up on anypony he trusts. Then there was my before mentioned sister, Miss Hornhead I like to call her. She is the oldest of us and that makes her think she has power over us "younglings." Still though she is the smartest pony in all of creation and will never let you down. The fact that she is always the one to go to if you need help is something I always admired about her. Too bad she will never let me live down the fact that she helped me out. Seeing as how I am the second oldest we bicker a lot. It is never detrimental though; seeing as out of all of us she is the only one, other then Earthy, that I am comfortable as actually acknowledging as family.
Not to say I am not on good terms with other gods; it is just that I never really see them as family. For example there is Narrator, the minotaur god who speaks in the third person, who I am really close friends with. There is also Faker, griffon goddess, who became closer after a certain race-themed debate. Although I still don't consider them family they are close in my book. Even to the point where the other gods called them Brony and Pegasister respectively. On a side-note, WHY IS EVERY OTHER GOD BETTER AT PICKING CATCHY NAMES?!?!? As for other gods they range from arch-enemy: Firebreath, dragon, to just more distant friends: Featherbrains, Buffalo.
Oh and in case you have yet to take notice I do like to hand out nicknames. What? I was given a name that other other gods address me as to annoy me, so why shouldn't I have one for them? So yeah they know the stupid nature of the name bugs me. Especially when I insist that everyone just call me BP. Since good old MOMSIE said I couldn't change it!
Speaking of wise old Mom, another thing she emplimented was something she called the musical. Apperently she wanted to add joy through the sound of music. At any moment the words of anypony, one of the new phrases she made up, could majestically be turned into a musical number with anypony near by able to join in and automatically knowing all the choreography and lyrics. My opinion on this, IT IS AMAZING!!! It was so random and entertaining! It has created some of the most fun I have ever had!
As much as I love the songs there is also a more subtle tune always about. You barely notice it, but if you listen very carefully you just might here it. The music is always appropriate and always fits in right with the mood.
Like I mentioned earlier there was the whole pony speak thing. That was so flipping dumb! I can't believe it lasted as long as it did. You are probably laughing your flank off knowing we used to talk like that. I mean everypony? HA! Also also can't forget the puns! Like Trottingham. PFFFHAHAHAHA! Luckily by your time our diction has long since evolved passed that. I mean you probably have been using some sort of highly advanced electronic translator just to know what I am saying right? Right? Why aren't you answering me? Please say right. Just playing I know you can't answer me. That would just be silly.
Lets see what else did Mother do hmmmm. Oh she gave me something I like to call a summer job. Remember how I said I no longer had absolute control over the weather? Well Mom decided I could have the privlage to do something else for her to fill up the gap now in my immortal life.
Bassically it worked like this. Mother wanted to take a chance, so obviously she chose the right guy, she wanted to do something unheard of, mostly because she hadn't invented it yet, she wanted to make evil! DUN DUNN DUNNNNN...thats what the background toon should be doing right about now. So Mother noticed the random violence over the years and relized that to live in harmoney the opposite to good must be introduced. It's some balance-like...thing, don't ask me. So Mother would create evil and I would oversee it. This is where the seeing me is an omen thing came from. I was to appear when something she planted the seed of evil in had arisen. I would fly in transformed in my sweet black flamed phoenix form and make a visual warning of what may come to pass.
If they wanted more detail they just had to summon me and I would shrink to explain the situation. It was a good job, worked for a long time, well untill she planted what eventually grew into those changlings. Who knew that seed in particular would put into motion so much. The tempting of a god, birth of choas, and rule of sun and moon. I mean what are the chances...
Book
So something in that last chapter may have caught your attention. The line, "Tempting of a god." That shouldn't be true right? I mean so far out of what we have heard shouldn't gods be beings above temptation. Temptation in itself is a mortal flaw of course. Well let me tell you, gods...we are far from perfect. I mean immortal, powerful, and good-looking? There has to be something wrong in there. Of course there is, that is just nature overall. So before I go on lets delve a little more into our gods.
We are built much like a family, Mother made real sure of that, so we have those types of issues. Granted they are in a much larger scale and truly involve the lives of way too many, those are the times when I don't think we should have so much power. I am not implying omnipotence either we have our limits, our failures, our deaths.... Yeah we can die bet you didn't see that one coming right? It's something I rather not talk about, it brings shivers.
In any case we are dysfunctional, argumentative, and overall kind of jerks. Here is an example of god vs pony in how we look at problems. Pony: find a manner that is most efficient to overcome the obstacle that will benefit all involved parties; after the obligatory misunderstandings, melodrama, and overall almost scripted redemptions. God: see the problem and find the fastest way to destroy it. We are all guilty of something.
"But Black you aren't that way you are nice and perfect and pretty and should take over all of Equestria because you obviously are the only nice one of the bunch." If you only knew. I mean don't you wonder why I skimmed over the piece about myself? Maybe I don't want to tell you about how possessive I am! Or how the smallest outbursts make me crave a vengeance the spark did not even justify! How my pride has gotten in the way and caused so many to fall, and yet I was praised everyday!
Although it is in only natural for somepony, hehehe, with power to praise themselves and make it sound like they are the greatest thing since pie, which is by far the greatest thing to ever come from earth ponies ever, I bet Celestia still does it now. I don't have any solid proof for this theory, but if you look at Equestrian history you see it all over the place: Mom, the gods, and Celestia. The only humble one seemed to be Discord and considering how he carries himself that is saying something! I think its something in the water; which explains Discord seeing how he only drinks chocolate milk or any other liquid that may come out of his sugar clouds.
Phew, good thing I am writing with fire-proof paper or else everyone of my thoughts may have been singed. Back to the gods and our so called "perfection." We may have started as molders of the world, but we soon became figureheads. Just a symbol for ponies to look at. These "domesticated" years were the absolute worst. There was no time where our burden to the world was more apparent. In a sense we showed our true colors.
It was obvious we were just kids with power. We fought for the smallest of things which eventually exploded into catastrophic events. I would be lying if I said I didn't contribute as well. This was also when most of the real crazy stories started to come up. These all being based of truths, and if you looked caused by the same things: hubris, (both pony and god) some fate or unavoidable prophecy, a god who could not handle being outmatched by a mortal, (these had the harshest punishments but boy were they the most entertaining) and of course some god couldn't keep their bits in their pouch. ( if you know what I mean)
Yes, by this point the gods were...well...um...breeding. We finally hit puberty in a sense. Honestly I do not want to go into much detail because this part makes me very uncomfortable so moving on!
One thing though, these little escapades are what created Halflings. These were a new life being half god and half mortal. They fueled many of the legends: fighting monsters, saving ponies, selling their souls you know the usual. But they weren't the only ones who started myths. Lets see there is also the minotaur who said he could build a better maze then the god himself; best part is he actually did it! His punishment was being trapped in it forever, but he never gave up, always motivated himself and the family he raised there. I guess he deserves his surname of Will; they are a nice family, I should visit more. What is another, oh the Halfling Buckculese who would go to slay the almighty original Hydra! Granted he forgot about the eggs, but its ok without that little screwup we would have no hydras so it is a win-win. If you want a hubris tale there is the Earthpony inventor who built himself these things called "hands" and something I am much more familiar with wings. The problem was he did this under the imprisonment of a tyrannical king who had him sealed at the top of his crystal tower only inventing creations of evil for his kingdom. So when the young Concitatus flew out on his flimsy wings deciding to ignore his first plan of meeting up with the resistance and instead flying all the way to Canterlot. He of course did not consider the harsh blizzard winds, so in his brash overconfidence he flew into the snow-coverd land and soon plummeted due to frozen wings.
"But Black why don't you have any of these legends? Are you really so flawless and above even the other gods?" No I am not without my own stories. Like the griffon who challenged me to a race. Griffons are creatures who are almost exact reflections of pegasi. So when one was running her beak I was not surprised; most pegasi do it at one point, heck if I do something really cool I do the same thing-er without the beak though. In any case she boasted she was faster than any pegasus, and honestly she had the ability to prove it. As far as I could tell nopony could outmatch her skill. Ironic how it was the race that I found the littlest respect for, I mean they are kind of rip-offs...except with talons. She eventually even challenged me saying, "none of these sad ponies could beat me, if only they were based on a greater design." Ok that might not sound so bad, but back then that was a real-um how do foals say it these days? Burn. So I of course make the flashiest most awesome entrance ever, unfortunately this fear tactic did not impress. She then went on to criticize every aspect of my work on the pegasi. Every detail and every aspect ripped apart. She had some really good points too thats the worst part, and I couldn't tell her that either. I mean she questioned why should one even care that they exist when unicorns could do their job, why do they seem so perfect and have such easy-going lives, and why would't they make seasons longer going on to say one of her naps lasts longer.
I had only one reaction it was of course the most logical. I thanked her for taking the time to carefully and thoughtfully look at my work and tell me thoroughly how I can improve it. I explained the doubts I had in my creation and how now I will try to improve my works based on the ideas not only she gave me, but the tips she supplied. At least I thought about doing that for about a fraction of a second. Then I went instinct on her and was yelling back it turned into this whole thing I don't want to go into detail in case young ones are reading. In the end the argument led to a race. One of epic proportions a race to rival all others, one that would determine who is truly the greatest flier! It was a race from the farthest tree we could see and back! I know truly a tale worthy of legend. Now before I go onto describe this I must stress that I was really out of practice and kind of sleepy a-a-and the sun was in my eyes! Suffice to say I lost, SHARP TURNS ARE HARD OK! It might have helped if I didn't show off so much, but what is the point of winning if you don't?
Lets total this up shall we. Ok so she one the argument, check, she won the race, check, and she won bragging right, boy did she use them. So I had just taken a huge hit in the ego, and it did not help that she would not let it go. For weeks I was tormented by her incessant bragging. In reality it was like two minutes though, and I was just shocked. Excuse me if I want the book to be a bit more entertaining. In any case she insisted on bashing and bashing on my pegasi. Spouting on and on how we are the inferior race. So I saw only one suitable punishment. Unfortunately I can't turn living things into trees, frogs, or birds. Heck she might already know how to be the last one. So instead I turned her into what I could make her become. I turned her into a pegasus! DUN DUN DUNN. Ok so not that bad right? Well heres the good part I turned her into a flightless pegasi! Or at least I would have, but technically thats just an earthpony. What can I do!? Well I had to something, so I took away her flawless pegasus sight. Basically she had a lazy eye....OF DOOM! In other words she would always be crashing into things and braking stuff! Alright I know not the worst punishment, but sue me. Well there was also the curse I also put on her so that every pegasus born into her blood-line would become progressively more dumb, but what could that possibly lead to?
And thats not even talking about the times we gods screw things up, with our wars and plagues its a mess. Although so far I have had the biggest of the blunders. It all started with those changelings. I just don't know what went wrong.

Alright this chapter is going to be a bit different. Here I am going to go into much more detail because this is a much more specific event which had many key points that all came together in the end. That being said there will be way more dialogue here so you can treat it more like a fictional story rather than a boring history book. Plus this one delves way more into what I am thinking and any immediate reactions I may have. All right here we go...
Flight is an amazing ability. It is also just an amazing art. It is one of the few things I love in this world. I think that is because it is one of the only activities that truly make me feel free. Even if I am a god half of the time my Mom is telling me what to do. Funny right? An unimaginably powerful entity of pure majesty having his hoof held by his mother, it's embarrassing to say the least. As for the rest of the time I have to manage and answer pegasi. This I wouldn't mind so much if it weren't for my mom over my shoulder making sure I do it all in a "godly" fashion. Responsibility sucks!
Suffice to say this casual fly I was in the middle of felt really nice. Granted I am not the kind of pony for who enjoys prologued experiences of just "nice." Thats right about when I just boomed! Thats the nickname I gave to braking the sound barrier. Now this was flight! Speed! Nothing can reach me when I move like this. After that griffon thing speed has been my number one training focus.
I was going way bast boom speed now it was exhilarating. Uncontrollable the energy coursing through my body it is just an experience never worth forgetting. The thing was I didn't know where I was doing this in. So I stopped, with godly dexterity don't even have to slow down.
I looked around to try and piece together what I could see. And after much data collecting I came to an absolute conclusion. "I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHERE I AM!" Sadly shouting this did not help at all. Stupid ears that have no echolocation. So I gave this place another look around and this time focused on any abnormalities.
Well this place looks baron, like a dessert. There were plenty of mountains and it was pretty dry, so this seemed like a sound conclusion. The problem was this was not any dessert I knew. Considering the direction I had flown there were no immediate wastelands in my path, not even if I had flown around the whole planet which I tend to do. So the question was what is this place?
Then it hit me like one of Narrator's charges. This is Changeling land, no that isn't its name, it is actually called...well...um....ok so I don't know its name, but I am sure it isn't Changeling land. Anyway the reason I knew this is because Mom had told us about this place and not to disturb it. She wanted to see its potential. She explicitly said no interacting or going to this land...ooops, I guess I should listen more at the meetings. Well I don't see the big deal here anyway everything is so bleak and empty. I mean they could use at least a raincloud or something. Still I should leave before Mom finds out I was here don't want her to take away my statue.
As I turned though I saw a little green...thing on the dessert floor. What is that thing? I can't imagine my face of sheer confusion at the moment. So as usual the rational thought popped into my head, "I mustn't allow this strange object to distract me as I return to my land." Then I did like normal and ignored it to go poke the weird thing!
So I descended pretty slow mostly because I was just unsure what it was. This would be a nice moment to bring up I talk to myself when alone, so keep that in mind. I then proceeded to ask myself, "Wait is it open?" Now I had to look inside because, well, wouldn't you? As I peered in something very unexpected happened though something latched onto my face. Needless to say my reaction was cool and collected.
"AAAAAH GET IT OFF GET IT OFF AHHHHHHHHHHH!" I screeched as I pried the thing off of my face. It fell to the ground looking angry and hungry for my blood. It was kind of like a black foal covered in holes. Noticeable features were its little horn and...insect wings? Ok thats pretty cool. Its mane was weird it looked to be made of webs maybe, but it was a nice light green color so I didn't mind. It also had really nice sky blue eyes, I am a sucker for eyes and these were just unexpected from such a creature.
"HSSSSSSSS HSSSSSS HSSSSSSSSSS" it kept hissing at me and I didn't know how to stop it.
"Ok ok calm down little uh thing. Just calm down, no more face latching ok?" I think my tone got to it because it stopped the hissing. Then it did something strange, it just walked up to me and touched its horn to me. I was already kind of freaked out so I tried to back up, but was too curious to see what was going on.
"Otay you shouwd be able to undersfand me now, stho why ares you attacking my houfse?" She, at least that is what it sounded like, said in what I can only describe in some sort of bably talk.
Again my rebuttal was one of only absolute respectability, "HOLLY MOTHER YOU CAN TALK?"
"Of courth I can talk. Whas you think juss cuz im young I am dum too?" Was what came out of her.
"Well considering how you are speaking excuse me if I have my doubts." I said to her with a raised eyebrow.
" Oh sowwy I am sthill adjustwing to your lang- lang- lang- ugh! Way of tawking." Her grammatical issues seemed to bother even her.
"Any idea how long that might take?" I had to ask for the sake of my sanity.
"Weff it will most wikwy take an our or to." She said with her hoof to her chin as she thought.
"Well I have time. So till then I'll just wait here if that is ok?" I look at her head tilted and with a half smile.
"Otay we can tawk betta den."
"Agreed."
After two hours of listening to her practice when she finally got it down we began.
"Alright, how did you learn that this fast?" I was honestly curious.
"Well you see since Changelings take the form of others we have to know how to talk like them to. So what we do is choose someone and receive their vocabulary using our horns."
"Ok I am following, and it sounds legitimate. What were you trying to say when you first got all the words anyway?" Asking sincerely since I had no idea what she was saying.
"Oh well I asked you why you were attacking my home. Its a dangerous place out here for a lone little changeling, and I just didn't want to get eaten by a big bad monster since, you know, I have never seen whatever the heck you are."
"Again, I see your point; it would be strange. Speaking of, why are you out here? Don't changelings have like a hive mentality or something? Why are you all alone?" This being one of the few things I actually remember Mom talking about.
"Well we do, but my situation is a bit complicated." She hesitantly said.
"How so?"
"Well you see in the hive there can be only one queen." I nodded. "Well if there is ever more then one queen at a time the weaker of the two is exiled due to her not having to exist. They of course raise you for a bit, but eventually after a while it is time to determine if you are fit to lead. And I didn't pass." There was some sadness in her voice making me feel a large sense of-"BUT THE OTHER QUEEN IS TWICE MY AGE AND HAS LEARNED WAY MORE THAN ME! It just isn't fair!" Whoa! Didn't see that one coming. Couldn't help but feel like I have experienced this before. She continued, "So now I am out here fending for myself: hungry, cold, and alone." There was that sadness again, she looked like she was ready to cry.
I could only stare at her. "Kid you should always stay strong. Just from this little talk I see so much potential in you. So what if that older girl has the advantage now. One day you will come back stronger and will rule like you were meant to!"
"You mean it?" Wiping the tears from her eyes as she choked it out.
"Of course! Heck I will even take you in! It could be fun!" This shocked her.
"Take me in? Why would you want me? I am just a reject." She looked down truly believing that.
"Why wouldn't I want you? As far as I can tell you are smart, strong-willed, and remind me a bit of me." This last bit I squeed out a bit, "AND YOU ARE THE MOST ADORABLE THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!" This seemed to lighten her up a bit. "Best part is if you don't want me as a mentor you can at least accept me as a friend who wants to help you out."
"Friend?" She sounded out slowly as if it were alien to her.
"Are you serious? You guys don't know what that means?" She shook her head. "Well don't worry you will find out soon I promise!"
"OK!" She shouted getting swallowed up by the excitement to the point where she jumped up and flapped her little wings. At that moment her stomach did growl though. It sounded like an Ursa Minor having a growling contest with a manticore...in a cave...with really good acoustics.
"I am going out on a limb here, but are you hungry?" She nods, "Well when we get to my place we can get some hey, or carrots, or something I guess."
She responded with a gagging noise while saying, "Ew thats gross. Do you have any jarred love? Or love cakes? maybe some love-cream?"
"Nooooo, mostly because where I come from we eat 'food'." She gave me an unamused face. "So it has to be love then? You really eat that?" She nods almost too happily with a huge smile and everything. "Well do you know how to eat love straight from the source?"
"Well yes, but I have never done it. Mostly because I have never left this dessert." The first half of her statement was a bit too unsure for my taste, still I could not deny it might work so...
"Alright how about this I will take you back to my place and on the way you can eat my love for something, sound good?"
"Sure. Anything particular you got in mind?" Again a huge smile.
"I have one idea, you should understand as soon as we take off. Speaking of, it's as good a time as any. Ok hop on and hold on real tight, alright?" She thinks about it for a second, I don't understand why they aren't difficult instructions, and I soon find out something key. They can shape-shift. I found out when she became a rope and rapped around me. "Whoa that feels weird! You guys can shape-shift?"
I heard a simple "yes" from the rope as a response.
"Honestly, I am not surprised." I lowered my head and spread my wings getting ready for that initial rush of going into the air, "Lets ride!" I took off! The freedom of the air taking me over yet again. And it seems my guest was enjoying it too. Not just the excitement, but my love of flying seemed to appease her apatite. Considering it is me, she probably won't be hungry again for weeks.
The ride home was pretty silent considering she was enjoying her meal. Just then it occured to me. "Hey what is your name?"
She stopped sipping long enough to spit out, "Don't have one."
"Really? Is it like some situation where you had it taken away due to your exile and now you must wonder aimlessly as the nameless changeling without a hive?" I might of said that too dramatically, what tipped me off was-
"No. Just haven't given myself one yet."
"Oh, that was anticlimactic. So could you come up with one so I can call you something?" I asked now a bit disappointed.
"Ummm, you can call me Cacuna ! Yeah I like it! Sounds powerful don't it?" Aww she wants to sound threatening, she's so friggin cute!
"It does sound good, sure is better then whatever I would of come up with. Can I call you Coony for short?" She seemed to ponder this a bit.
"Well normally I would never allow it, but considering how nice you have been to me. I shall allow this for now." She said with what I can only assume was a smile. "Thank you mister...hey what is your name?"
"My name?" that came out too high pitched, need to cool it. "Yes well you see my name is uh um..."
"Come on! I made one for you!" She said kind of pouty.
"I know it's well...it's Black Phoenix."
"What was it?"
"Black Phoenix."
"Sorry, didn't catch that."
"Black Phoenix."
"Come on speak up!"
"OK! The name is Black Phoenix ok. Yes I know it sounds dumb everypony and there mother likes to point that out! So to avoid annoying me just call me something else. If you can't come up with one my family and friends call me Black. Personally I like BP, but nopony ever likes to call me that!" I may have shouted that part.
There was an awkward silence before I heard. "Personally I would call you loudmouth, but I guess I will wait until I know you better. Is that ok BP?"
More silence...
"You know what?"
"Hmm?"
"Coming from someone else's mouth, that does sound a little stupid."
That made her giggle. I even joined in and it soon exploded into a huge laughing fit! I can see some good times coming from this little changeling.
"Alright we are here! Just a few seconds and I'll lan-" I was cut off when I felt a strange nibbling on my ear. "Excuse me but why are you chewing my ear?"
"Momma always said to check the ears for any love you might have missed. And so far I am finding some nice aged love." She then proceeded to continue her biting into my ear.
With that we landed. "You're lucky you're cute kid." She giggled in agreement. I couldn't help, but smile. I also noticed she stopped feeding. "All done Coony?"
"Yup I'm stuffed." She said as she got of my back and let out a huge yawn. "Got any beds in this place?"
"I have one. You can sleep in it tonight until we get you one of your own."
"Ok. But co-could you sleep with me?" She said simply as she rubbed her eyes.
"Uh well I mean sleep isn't really something I need-" Then I looked into her begging eyes and thought of how long she must have slept alone for. "Oh, all right." We then began to walk into the my little hidden cloud home.
"Hey, you know something that we are really lucky for?"
"What?" Her curious eyes looked up at me.
"We are so lucky that you can walk on clouds. It barely occurred to me that you might not be able to just a second ago." Her scared look said it better than any words could, and I couldn't hold back a hard laugh.
Now since I am a god I don't really have to sleep much. I think I have only used this bed once or twice. So being in it was alien to me. Especially with this a small child hugging my neck and biting into my ear again. I didn't want to stop her though; it looked like it was calming her down. She is lucky I can't feel the pain of her little fangs digging in, so I guess it works out.
"BP? You awake?" She whispered letting my ear have a brake.
"Yeah Coony, whats up?" I said softly didn't want her to wake up again.
"Nothing, just...wanted to thank you for saving me. At least in a way."
"It is no problem, I am literally here to help out all living things on the planet."
"Still, the fact that you helped me...I hope I can repay you."
"Just being a friend should work."
"Ok then I will be the best!" She said with a little passion that made me smile as she hugged me tighter.
"I will hold you to that. Alright Good night Coony." Too late though that promise seemed to let her drift off. Its alright I didn't mind. Still I have to look after a life now, I smell shenanigans! Still, what an interesting chance encounter after just another casual flight. I honestly wondered what was going to happen next, I mean look at the possibilities...

So we are still running with this dialogue heavy layout because the story is not done yet. Soon my pretties you shall know where I am going with this...
A few years have passed since I found Coony. We were having one of our walks around Everfree as per usual. Then I happened to notice something when I looked at her. I had to ask, "So how do Changelings age? I am just wondering, because you said you were seven when I found you."
She nodded, "This is correct."
"Right. That makes sense, but now I am starting to wonder, because...well...it has been about...one hundered years, and you still look like a young filly." Well it is a few years for me.
She looked up and said to me, "Well I dunno, it's probably magic or something."
"Seems legitimate." I said with a shrug.
We finally arrived to our destination in the forrest. Today's walk had a little bit of extra importance. Today we are teaching Coony to fly!
"Perfect. This clearing should give us plenty of space to get your butt in the air!" The excitement oozing out of my voice, I just couldn't hold it in!
"I don't know I mean can't I just ride on your back like always? If I get to big I can just change into something smaller." She looked up at me with her begging eyes. Any other day those would have been enough, but not today flying comes first! Plus it was way too hard to convince her to come here in the first place.
"Listen, that isn't a permanent solution. You are growing up and always wanting to go different places, but I can't always fly you there, I mean think about work." This saddened her because my duties as an immortal kept me busy a lot, and I was her only friend. So I held up her head and looked her in the eye while saying, "Look at it this way once you learn you can go around and meet new ponies, to slowly enter their social groups and consume their love for each other and you! Doesn't that sound fun?"
"Yes." She said a little defeated, but her smile showed she didn't entirely dislike the idea.
"Good! Now I am only used to teaching pegasi since that is just more natural for me, but how different can this be?" I found out that day that it was completely different.
Many long long hours later.
"Look! Look! I am doing it!" Her joy bursting out with every word!
"Wow, to think I was honestly contemplating just flying head first into a mountain at about mach 10 in the vain hope that it might knock me out long enough to forget this dreadful experience or at least pretend it was a dream. Other than that though good job!" My emotionless voice and face quickly shifted back into their normal forms.
"WEEEEEEEEEE" She let out while doing summersaults and loopty loops, yes those are the technical terms.
In no time at all she had flight down. I made sure to take note on how changeling flight operated. I observed that they are not build for speed, but instead mid flight sporadic side movements. I could only imagine what they might have to use that for. These techniques were so good I decided to implement them into my own personal flight patterns. I know it sounds weird that I might copy from another race, but when it comes to flight this is very common. For example griffons know how to sharp turn extremely well, whereas pegasi can accelerated while staying in complete control; these to skills are then adopted and reused for the other. Flight is just universal that way.
In any case Coony and I had a wonderful flight and it was only the first of many.
"BP, I may not be able to go as fast as you, but it is still just amazing to be able to fly! Now I know why you love it so much." In mid-air I still caught her ecstatic voice without issue.
"Just wait until you experience more of it! There is so much more to see and do."
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY COONY!!!" Granted we didn't know what her exact hatch-date was we can at least celebrate by using the day she was found. "And let me say you are looking very good for a lady who is over three hundred years old." I had just woken her up from bed so her mane was in a huge poof and she was slumped and half asleep, so it seemed only fitting.
"BP you flatter me." She said brushing off the comment with a fake modest tone. She was beginning to look like an average teenager at this point in time.
We celebrated the day magnificently! We flew around. We visited this new place, Ponyville. We visited my family, and it was a bit awkward I don't know why she always insists we do. We even had the chance to visit my statue! Well that part I think I enjoyed more than her. As a gift I had gotten her these hip new things called sun glasses, they are black glasses! It is so friggin cool!
The day came to an end as we sat in the very same meadow, it had grown since just being a clearing, where she first learned to fly. We lay there calmly as the sun set just reminiscing. Finally calming down from the massive sugar rush we had after visiting this fully stocked bakery.
Coony was chewing on my ear as she often does when she is tired or needs to calm down. Honestly it still calms me down, but still I had to say, "I can't believe after all this time you still chew on my ear. You are like 307 now. Do you still expect to find more hidden love?"
"Well you never know there is always a chance, a wise stallion once told me that. And if it is an issue why do you still let me do it? I mean you are like a bagillion years old!" Her voice sounding more lady-like nowadays made her argument accurately sound logical.
"Do I still look that young?" I said trying to sound flattered.
"How old are you?" Genuine curiosity filled her voice.
"Somewhere in the millions I think, maybe a billion." My as-a-matter-of-fact voice shining through.
"You don't keep track?" Actually surprised.
"How am I supposed to?" While saying it I look up.
"Your birthday, duh!" She hit her head and stuck out her tongue to emphasize her point.
"Don't know it." I said, it actually had me puzzled after saying it for some reason.
"Oh..." She took a moments pause to think, "Well tomorrow should be a nice day. There is plenty of cake. A party could be fun."
It took me only a moment to realize where she was going, "Yeah it could be, so tomorrow then?" She nodded. "Sounds great!"
That was the day I got a birthday. Too bad it was also the same week I realized I absolutely hate parties. It is way too crowded!
Alright so Coony is about 500 now and she is experiencing "changes". Personally I am frightened out of my wits I have no idea how to handle this. She has so many questions and I don't know how to answer. I have never been good with this sort of thing like ever! I mean how am I supposed to teach somepony how to use magic, I suck at that stuff! Oh and she is going through puberty too, but that isn't as important.
I need somepony, anypony to help me! I mean every day she tells me how she is noticing something different or feels funny what can I do? And then it hits me, I know jut who to call.
"Coony I will be right back!" I then disappeared in a poof and when I reappeared I was not alone for I had brought just the pony I needed. "Coony you remember Hornhead right? Well she is here to visit and stuff."
"Black Phoenix why did you bring me here? And please don't call me Hornhead." She said in an annoyed tone that made me think she may be seeing through my clever plan.
"What I can't have my favorite sister over for a nice visit?" I then plastered the biggest fake smile I had to try and convince her.
"Hello Ms.Hornhead." Coony said kindly as she walked down-stairs.
"Oh good you have her saying it now too." The nickname didn't seem to help calm down her mood.
"Come on sis it is no biggy. Well would you look at the time I have-um...god things to do now! So you two halve fun talking girl talk and stuff. Bye!" I then zipped out of there as fast as I could.
All heard on my way out was my dear sister exclaiming, "Wait what?" as I made my grand escape.
As I flew away at top speeds I read back my plan to myself. Hopefully they will eventually find their way to the topic of magic so I don't have to try and explain it. Yes this plan is full-proof. Now to enact the rest of it. Lets go down the list. Phase one: bring sister to home to speak to Coony, check. Phase two: get the hay out of there, check. Phase three: get some ice-cream, status, in motion. Then wrap it up with Phase four: hide out in waiting until my sister is done saving the day. Full-proof.
I returned home once it had been dark for a while. Surely my plan would be complete by now. So I landed on the balcony and tried to sneak back in when...
"Hello brother." My sister's cold tone matched her upset face.
"Oh hey sis didn't see you there what are you doing here this late?" I was already thinking of something, anything to explain my leaving.
"Nothing just babysitting your changeling friend. Teaching her the basics of magic, and you know explaining the changes with her body. Like the-" She was then interrupted by my quick outburst.
"Alright I get it! You had your gal time. Well at least I don't have to explain it to her now see this all works out for everyone." I hoped my huge smile covered up my nerves.
"We did have a fun time; to the point where she passed out on her bed. We even did get to talk about those things when-wait! That was your plan all along wasn't it?" She asked in an annoyed tone. Hornhead had reached the bottom of this mystery.
"It is possible, but who knows. Not like you can read my mind like you can with any other pony. Then again you could try, but just remember what happened last time. I mean you couldn't handle two seconds of my brain." I laughed at the memory of her first trying out her mind-reading spell on me. Oh she was fried for weeks.
"Well your mind is a dark and scary place. I shiver to imagine how you live with that thing for so long." Her tone much more playful as we were slowly getting into one of our classic sibling bickers.
"It is a pretty fun place once you get used to it. My other 47 personalities also agree." I then shifted voices and said, "Si Si we sure do!"
Hornhead couldn't hold back a smile and soon we shared a good hard laugh as we talked about each other mockingly for the fun of it.
"Ahhh, good times little brother, good times." She took a pause to look at me before saying, "You know that Cacuna really has left a mark on you hasn't she?"
"What do you mean?" I said with a puzzled laugh.
"I can see that she has helped highlight your positive traits. She has made you much more kind and loyal. Plus from what I can tell you are much more social and friendly. In any case you hold on to her Black, because she is just what you need. It may become more difficult because she is growing up and wants to be more outgoing, so let her go for her adventures. Still watch over her though. I have given her an Idea on how she can interact with the ponies below as well, so don't be surprised if she is home less or shape shifts much more often. Still stay with her as long as you can." Her voice became lower with that last sentence and I knew why. She was suggesting the worst thing imaginable. What happens when I outlive Coony.
"I will never let anything happen to her as long as I live. And considering our status that is going to be a long time." I was saying that more to myself then Hornhead.
"There is that loyalty I mentioned. Try not to go overboard ok. I should be off though. This was nice little brother, till next we meet." Her smile filled with me with that sibling love that made it so I couldn't just let her leave.
"Wait sis! No hug?" She was surprised, but did not refuse. As we embraced I whispered something into her ear, "You know sometimes I wish you weren't so smart."
She whispered back, "Then how would I bail you out of all your problems?" And with that she was gone. Stupid teleporting magic.
Once she was gone I looked up at the moon, "Well you have a point there."
I had just gotten home from a long day of work. I had to warn a whole nation about Mom's newest devastators. I think she called them parasprites or something. The hard part was they spread fast! I had to fly all over the place to warn everybody. Still when I got home I noticed something strange. It was quite, too quite...
"Coony you home?" I said loud enough that anyone in the house could hear it. "I guess not." It wasn't too surprising Coony was 557 she could go out if she wanted to. Still she usually gave notice.
As I walked throughout the house trying to find a nice place to lay down I noticed a piece of paper on a chair. My mind went to the only rational conclusion. "OH NO COONY HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED!!!"
I raced to that paper as fast as possible only to find out it was just a note from Coony. Few I was just about to overreact. Ok lets read this bad boy.
Dear BP,
am sorry that I didn't tell you I was going out my bad. It was just a spontaneous thing with my friends and thought you know why not. Still I just want you to know I am safe and not currently kidnapped as you probably thought when walking in. Com on though, you have taught me enough to defend myself from most creatures. In any case I will be home before sun down to tell you all about it. By the way today I went with the pegasus disguise, I know it is awesome!
Should you get impatient or something there is plenty of food in the icebox should you get hungry. Also you can always visit statue. He always seems to cheer you up. Irrelevant question but, do fairies exist? I need to know to win a bet. Just think about it or find out so you can tell me when I get home. So I am just going to go now so see you later.

Well at least she thought of me. I could read a book or something. Wait! When did she start calling herself Phoenix? Is that how names work now a days? You just take one of your parents? I have never understood the Equestrian naming system. Still nice of her to leave a note.
Coony is 693 now and she is always trying to get me to come with her to social events. Almost every day it seems like...
"Come on BP it will be so much fun!" Her enthusiasm is the main driving force of her argument.
"No Coony. You know I hate parties. There are always way too many ponies and I can never spread my wings it is just annoying." My voice was getting too high, completely throwing away my whole argument.
"Oh stop whining!" Before I could rebuttal she stopped me, "And none of that it isn't whining it's complaining junk!"
Darn! She knows me too well. Time to brake out the big guns, "But I never know anyone there, and then I just end up being that creepy pony who stands in the back. Either that or I just end up leaving."
"You won't have to worry about that I will be with you." As she said that she was rubbing her head under my neck; looking up at me with her begging eyes. She may be fully grown already, but that still gets to me.
My words come out with a sigh, "Alright. Formal or casual?"
"Casual." She then dashed off to go get ready for the event.
I then whispered as I walked to my room, "But I like to dress fancy..."
She scanned my outfit looking surprised. "I thought I said casual dress."
"Lady when you look good as me, this is casual." My charming smile matching my fancy black with white highlights vest. Damn did I look pretty! Also I slicked back my mane, and may have reorganized my feathers about to seem more attractive. Sometimes rebelling has its benefits.
"Ok, I will give you that you do look really good." She said with a soft smile and tone. Weird for her, but meh I was stunning.
"Well you look nice too. I like the ruffled style of your mane. And your...shirt! What does it say?" She sticks out her chest so I could read it. "I heart 2 party. Clever." I said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, I was trying to be punny since you like those. And I tried to make my mane look like yours too..." She seemed to trail off after that.
"Hey you are getting really red in the face." I put my hoof to her face. "Whoa! You are really warming up! Are you sure you still want to go?"
She almost immediately blurted out, "Yes! Yes! Lets go, now!" I then think I heard her mumble, "Before this gets more embarrassing."
"Alrighty Coony if you say so. Lets a go!"
Just as expected this sucked. If you were a guest at this party I would probable be the pony you hated the most. The loner that looked sad, but somehow had all the mares constantly all over him. Now personally I don't do relationships of any sort. I have many reasons why. Most ponies look exactly like my sister, or just way too similar to my mother. As for pegasi I am not attracted to them for the same reason I am not attracted to a picture I drew, it's like kissing your own statue. Any other species on this planet just looks like an animal to me so that doesn't help either. Well enough sulking here comes my company, Miss Coony, and she had something with her...
"Hey BP. You need to try this new thing the ponies have made it is called 'Apple Cider', I haven't tried it because I wanted to share first reactions with you!" You could just see how much this new drink was enthralling her.
"Well ok no harm in trying it right. Bottoms up!" We both chugged down the cider, but something caught my attention. "Is that it? That was so lame. It tastes like old apple juice."
"Well I did get the light one to just try it out. If you want we can try some of the harder stuff." She was already standing up to get more.
"Yeah lets see what this stuff can do. I mean it probably won't even affect me, so get the hardest stuff they got and get a ton of it!" She nods excitingly as she goes to fetch the Cider. "What is the worst this stuff can do?"
My eyes slowly open, my head is empty, yet in pain, and on fire! I didn't even know I could feel pain.This stabbing in my brain was unbearable. What happened last night? The whole thing was a blur after the first few rounds of hard-core cider. So when my vision started to clear up I decided to begin looking around.
Ok lets see up on the ceiling there seems to be...SCORCH MARKS? Whoa! What got my flames on? Still looking, well this isn't my room. Don't know why it took so long to figure that out. Still looking around, there were hoof marks all over the walls! Whatever happened was really crazy! I started to get up to look further when I winced, but it wasn't just from the headache no there was something else. So I looked down and saw...SCRATCHES? Now I really didn't know I could get those. Did I get into a fight? But what could get me into this state? My ears sting too, I wonder why.......OH MOTHER ONE IS MISSING! and the other HAS A HUGE HOLE IN IT! As I lowered my hooves when I noticed something else. There is something else in the bed.
Wow did I really beat the other guy that bad that he passed out? Dang I am awesome! I wonder what it is. So I slowly move my hoof to pull down the blanket and it is...no...wait...NO! It's Coony! Oh no! I beat up Coony! How could I do this? My eyes were tearing up so badly. I never wanted to hurt her, why would I do that? Wait no, even in an uncontrolled chaotic state I would never hurt a hair on her head. Does she have hair? Or is it some sort of webbing or something.
"I see you are awake," my back stiffened as her soft voice reached my already closing up ears. Godly healing...comes in hoofy. And then she got real close to the mostly whole ear and whispered, "Lover."
Sh-sh-she means like friend love right? Then I felt chewing on my almost done ear, but it wasn't the same it felt...sensual. My eyes widened as sweat started dripping out of every pore of my being. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! This is not happening!
"So...uh...nice weather we are having right?" I had absolutely no idea how to clear the awkward air. Still Coony was taking it pretty well.
"What an amazing night, right Black?" Black...hehehe thats new. I need to get around this, but how?
"It couldn't be that great right? I mean if it was I would have remembered otherwise." Nailed it, wait that came out wrong...stupid thoughts!
"Trust me your blue flames last night tell a different story." She said that while looking deep into my eyes. Damn she had a point...stupid mood fire! "But still you look good after all that crazy stuff; in a few minutes I bet you will look as good as new." She then saw my blank stare; it seemed to get her a bit down. "You really don't remember a thing do you?" My frown was only mad worse when I shook of my head. "That cider must have been some powerful stuff."
"How do you remember?" I said.
"Oh, I didn't drink the powerful stuff I saw what it did to ponies. You drank a ton before I even got one sip of the harder ciders."
"Wow I was that messed up?" She nodded. "So we...um...you know..." She nodded with the saddest little frown it almost hurt me, she was realizing that last night it wasn't completely...me. "So it was that good of a night?" She nods again. "Was I your first?" She nods again she seemed like she was on the verge of tears. "Well if it means anything you were mine too." My weak smile didn't even convince me."
She was staring at the floor, "I-I need to go." Coony then jumped out of bed and ran off.
"Coony! Wait!" I chased after her. "Listen I know we had a little mistake, but we can work this out!"
This stopped her in her tracks. She turned now completely in tears. "Mistake? Is that all this is to you? Some little hiccup in the perfect life of a god? Of course it is, because in a thousand years this is never going to matter is it? Thats all that ever mattered to you, the long term. Did you ever even care about me? I fed on your love for centuries, and you know what? The only time I ever felt any of that love towards me was last night. One of the most wonderful nights of my life. So it is great that to you it was just a mistake. Good-bye!" And with a flash she was gone.
"Coony no! Wait...don't go....I-I need you...Coony...I love you."
In case you are wondering yes this is going to have relevance soon enough I just can't tell this story without going into a little more detail. I would feel like I was lying to you. I need a brake though. This story kind of takes it out of me. Don't worry I will be gone too long, heck for you it can be instant if you just read the next chapter. Till next we meet.

Alright we are back. This one is a bit more light on dialogue, so just consider it a fusion of the older formats.
After Coony left I was just broken. I knew I had to find her, but I figured I had to give her time. Eventually she would be found and then we would be able to talk.
Now that didn't stop me from trying to find her though. I did look at every possible outcome of her running away. Sadly in doing so I blocked about 95% of them. It only made sense because those were the times where she lived, so I wouldn't be able to resist interacting with her at some point. Therefor that whole timeline is blocked out from my viewing.

I just had to calm down and wait.
And wait...

Wow that was all of two minutes. For the first time ever time seemed to be going slower. Since I was immortal I never truly felt its pull, but now...it is different. I might actually have something to loose.
For weeks I didn't eat or sleep, I couldn't. Nor did I really have to, but that is beside the point. All I could do was be patient. Well at least I have the visions of Coony's untimely deaths to keep me sane.
In hindsight that didn't help at all.
It was two months before I heard anything from my little Coony. It felt like eons. All I had was a note that read,
Come to the Changeling hive. We have much to discuss. I am sure you know its location. If not, ask your dear sister. Come as soon as possible.

Ok did I read that right? I reread it at least six times, and each time it just felt wronger and wronger. Firstly, since when did she call herself Cacuna? I know she is probably angry, but still. And what was that about the Changeling hive? Why in the world would she ever be there? I know there is a chance for everything, but what could this one be.
Just then the vision flashed back at me. Several different retellings of her dyeing at the hands of the current queen of the Changelings. I had seen these weeks ago! I thought they were one of those flecks that would never happen. Still this can only mean one thing Coony went back to claim her crown.
The fly there was nearly instant. I didn't waste a second. As I walked into the chamber I notice the changelings clinging to the walls. They were nothing like my Coony; the lot of them disgusting like flies, or moths, scratch that I like moths. I could tell they smelled my love for Coony, but I rather fade then have them touch it. Maybe they felt my hostility or maybe it was the queen's orders but they seemed to stay at bay. Smart move.
I don't know what it was, but just imagining Coony, HERE, it was making me angry. 'You should burn them all '. A small voice in my head spoke up. And I agreed with him, lucky for them I had reached the throne room before doing anything irrational.
I walked into the room there sitting on the throne of these creatures was none other than my Coony. And yet there was something strange in the way Coony looked. She began the conversation.
"Glad you made it Black Phoenix." Her tone and diction didn't help prove she was Coony.
"You think I wouldn't come?" My voice cracking with concern.
"Considering how busy being you is must be, no I did not." I opened my mouth to respond, but her cold voice had frozen me. "As you can see after I left I returned to the hive. Thankfully after years of consuming godly love I was way beyond the level of my predecessor."
"So you called me to gloat how much better your life is after leaving me?" My cold tone almost matched hers.
"No, I called you for a very important reason. One that is a great concern to-" She didn't get a chance to finish.
"Listen! Coony, I know I made it look like I don't care, but don't be fooled. I can't function without you. For so long I didn't have a true friend. Then I met you, that little changeling that changed my life. The last few centuries were better than I could ever have hoped. I truly leaned that friendship is magic. But you know what? You helped me discover more then just friendship. You showed me love, true love. I may have squandered it when I was first offered, but please let me try again. Let me have a second chance, because when time finally feels slow to an immortal, well that is the final straw. It is what showed me that...Coony...I...I love you!"
She only stared at me. Come to think of it she had been showing much less emotion since last I saw her. Could becoming a queen somehow made her like this.
"I can sense that this is true. Unfortunately it is a ridiculous sentiment. Now that I am Queen of Changelings I can not frolic or show emotion for that matter. I must stay cool and collected for my subjects. You are too late Black Phoenix. But in return for raising me and feeding me such raw power, I will protect you from the hungry mouths of the changelings that surround you." This little speech seemed to crack her mask a bit as she seemed to show some sadness in there.
Now here is the worst part, without a doubt. This is the only time in all of time that the Black Phoenix was ever able to see a vision of the future that involved himself. I saw it all, Coony and I wedding, Coony becoming a god as a wedding gift, forever bliss, her domain of love blended perfectly with mine of chance, we were eternally happy. But wait what was that third thing that kept recurring throughout the visions. It grew and grew until...was it a god? What is this thing? And when my lone tear hit the floor it all vanished.
Cacuna, my Coony was too lost now to address her as that, then began to speak again, "Now that the pleasentries are over we must get down to business."
"There is more?" My voice barely escaping my mouth.
"Yes, tis the reason I called you down here of course." Her matter-of-fact voice made worse without emotion behind it.
"Alright say it already so I can go!" My pain was quickly becoming anger. I could already feel black flames blooming.
"Calm down, the news will only be worse if you hear it while angry." HA she is being the logical one.
"Then let it out already." My anger being forcibly suppressed only for her sakes.
She took a small pause as if gather her thoughts before letting it out,
"Black Phoenix, the news is....I am with child!" Her emotionless exterior finally broken through.
My eyes went wide, "WHAT!?!?"
Reader
Twilight slammed the book down, "WHAT!?!?"
"That is exactly what I said!" Black Phoenix's voice came out of the mystic text.
Twilight couldn't keep it in, "But how? When? Where?"
"Must I really explain the basics of the birds and the bees? Because if you haven't noticed it is a bit of an awkward topic for me." The stallion's voice again coming out of the book.
"No it's...it's fine, I just didn't expect that ." she explained.
"You think I did?" If you could see his face it would probably be annoyed.
"Well you do know there is a chance for anything. And you know gods can impregnate mortals and-"
He interrupted her, "Please stop poking holes into my life story."
She looked a bit embarrassed, "oh sorry."
The two had been communicating like this for hours. Still it had been minimal because Twilight was following his advice and just reading before asking questions. Although a few were not answered in the text, so she asked the book directly,
"How are you talking to me through this book Black?"
"Magic, duh."
This was partly Twilight's fault for not being specific.
"Ok, so why are you talking to me through the book."
"Just cuz..........also there were specific questions people would want to ask that the book wouldn't answer. I didn't exactly have the time to write all the answers down so I recorded them.
This interested Twilight, "How did you know what they were going to ask? For that matter, how do you know everything I am going to say?"
"Don't you remember? I can see every possible outcome of any future. Like right now I can see you nodding at my explanation, or in another reality I see you backflipping. Don't ask why I am not exactly sure either. Basically I looked into every possible future this book has and recorded messages accordingly. Yours is a bit strange though; I seem to lose the connection after a certain spot. Like it just goes black. Oh well, I can talk to you until then."
Something in there bothered Twilight. "So nothing about that sounds the least bit strange to you? You don't even want to think of what might happen? I mean isn't it a bit obvious what it means?"
"Excuse my tone but, lady do I sound like a pony who thinks ahead? Honestly from what you have read does that sound like a good description of me?"
"Yet you had the foresight to record responses." She mumbled out upset at the contradiction. "Well you have a point there. Anyway, what was the rush to releasing the book? And who placed the magic on it?"
"My sister, she also made sure it would be indestructible in case Celestia tried to get rid of it. As for the rush well I can't say because it would spoil the book. Don't worry we are almost there though, just a couple chapters to go." His tone of voice practically allowing Twilight to see the wicked smile he most likely wore.
"So its back to plan A then?" Twilight asked.
"Yup, just keep reading." He answered back.
"Here we go." Twilight said while returning to the world of the book.
