Chapters Luna's tears welled in her eyes, forcing her into the deepest and blackest of her fear... Destroyed and Forgotten, Abandoned and alone... The moon was lifeless, and cold, her sanity questionable at best, as darkness begins to close in, her body shuddering with fright. No longer was the night her ally, no longer was it a symbol of her power and strength. No... Now it focused only on keeping her enslaved... Forcing her mind into the dark depths of insanity. Solitude... Not a single word in her ears, the only piercing noises being the sheer laughter of voices unseen, forces unknown.
Was it her imagination? Perhaps her sanity? Or maybe it was real? She didn't know, but fear stuck her nonetheless. Cold chills wavering through her body, the cold, lifeless ringing laughter echoing throughout the barren wasteland. As reality blurs, and the world spirals, she becomes weak, and off-balance. A dark figure watches in the distance, eyes black as an abyss. Her heart beats, her head swirls, as the dark figure smiles upon her, before plunging her into a sea of darkness, laughter surrounding her...
There the figure stood, in the darkness, smiling his wicked smile... His teeth curved into his gums, causing what should have been blood to flow from his wounds... But no... It was merely more darkness... Luna shuddered in fear.... The demon that overtook her reigned over her... Trapping her in this hell... For 1,000 years she would feel this pain, 1,000 years she would be alone... Isolated and plunged into fear... Her hold had slipped... The figure cackled as it surrounded her with it's laughter, stepping closer with every chuckle.
The cold terror struck her... She couldn't breathe... She could not escape... And no one knew... Her beloved sister could not free her... How foolish she had been to allow her hate to take hold... Had she planned this punishment, or was it merely a result of the demon?
Her body froze, seized by the creature in front of her. She clenched her eyes shut, desperate to spare herself at least one moment of her suffering... But it came nonetheless. Her insides burned with the ferocity of the sun, though even this did not relieve the cold. There was no greater physical pain, than the horrible cold and heat working to destroy her. She screamed a silent scream, the figure smiling with glee.
Luna was released, her breathing now forced, and uneasy. Though her torture did not end there. The figure merely cackled more, as it's shape split into two... Then four... Then eight... Then sixteen... Sixteen of these horrible beasts, their only mission to terrorize the Former Princess of the Moon. She closed her eyes and whimpered in fear...
The figures closed in... Blazing heat and destructive cold already began to fill her body as she lost her ability to fight back... She could not do it... It was too much. The cackling of the beasts closed around from all sides of her... As she once again prepared to feel the horrible pain...
The Eternal Nightmare of the Moon was not done with her yet...
Applejack's losses surrounded her, the echoes of screams and ripping bones and flesh ringing in her ears. The soulless eyes of her grandmother staring back at her, black in their entirety, save for the red coming from the inside. It dripped onto the floor, creating only a mess of what used to be her caretaker. Applejack could only stare in frightened awe, terror sweeping her body as it forced it's way inside.
If only she could run... Force adrenaline into her frozen limbs, escape the horrible sights she was witnessing... But no... She remained where she was... Shock, horror, and grief seeping into the very marrow of her bones. Into the smallest of veins in her body... Family was forever, or so she had thought. Her sister's mutilated corpse said otherwise. Bones stuck out from her chest, neck, and her limbs, blood flowing graciously from the punctured body of what was her only sister. Now only a hunk of meat filling her with unparalleled distress...
Both impaled on large wooden rods, extending vertically through the entirety of their bodies. The rods themselves were thick with blood, covered in the life essence of her family. A cry for a mother could be heard echoing in the surroundings, young and full of grief and misery. Applejack broke down sobbing as she finally ran away, broken from her hypnotic stance... Only to be ensnared by another.
A deep scream sounded in her skull, burning her thoughts with dread. No... It couldn't be... Could it? Alas... It was. Her older brother, the strongest of them all... Sharing the same fate as those she had seen before. His head vacant of it's once flowing mane, now only present was the whiteness of his skull, with his fur stripped of his body, leaving only the pink and red remainders of his large muscles. Applejack's vision spun, her very awareness fading quickly into the abyss in which she was trapped... She could not stay awake, her grief blinded her as she landed with a thud.
A ghoulish laughter filled the room, as the once lifeless corpse of her brother sprung. It's head fastened it's eyes upon her, sneering a malicious intent. Behind her was the laughter of a young child, and an elderly mare, as parts of their bodies clicked and clacked together, reminding her of her losses, and of what would become of her. How had this happened? She could not be sure, but the laughter grew louder as the malicious stare of her brother intensified...
Louder... Louder... LOUDER... LOUDER.The clacking would not stop, it merely intensified as a fiendish smile crossed the lifeless face of her brother, and his deep echoing laughter joined the choir of her family. She screamed as the three corpses dived upon her, the laughter now all but deafening....
Rainbow Dash beat her wings furiously, the clanging of the chains ringing in her ears. Displeased shouts surrounded her, making it difficult to focus. The chains wrapped around her back legs, stinging with a sharp pain. She clenched her eyes as she forced herself forward, desperate to escape.
Cling, Clang...
Someone's come to find you...
A ghostly voice sang as the chains began to pull down, bringing the frightened mare down with them. Rainbow's wings burned with exhaustion, as the chains continued to make more and more noise in her ears. Sweat fell down her face as she thudded against the ground, the chains now curling up her back legs.
Cling, Clang....
Try to run, Never get away...
The voice continued, as the cold feeling of metal spread across Rainbow's body, sending her into a state of panic. She could not escape, there was no help, and only the voice singing of the chains could be heard. Kicking and bucking, she breathed heavily as the chains continued, making it's way to the bottom of her flank, now chaining the lower parts of her body as well. The metal began to tighten, squeezing her body even as it continued up her. Screaming in pain, she launched herself upward, using what little fighting spirit she had remaining.
Cling, Clang...
Taken back, Never heard again...
Rainbow heard as she felt more paralyzing cold on her forelegs. Looking down, she gasped at the sight before her. More chains, also proceeding upward. She flapped her wings as hard as her exhausted body would allow, but it wasn't enough. The tight grip of the chains forced her back down again, as they began to reach her lower chest and upper neck. She screamed as loud as she could, begging for help, praying that somepony could here her.
Cling, Clang,
Gone away, And never seen again...
The voice sang as the chains spiraled around her lower and upper forehead, leaving only her eyes and nose uncovered. The steel's grip became unbearable, forcing Rainbow to give a muffled scream as the chains wrapped around her eyes and nose, sealing her in darkness...
Pinkie's lip quivered as her mane straightened, her personality changing in a mere seconds. No longer was she the normal fun-loving part pony, now only a forgotten, abandoned, and shunned annoyance. Darkness filled her mind, as the world before her swirled out of focus. The table in front of her swirled out of control, formless nothingness taking it's place. She slumped onto the ground, alone and without friends.
A tear slipped down her cheek as her mind raced, thinking back to the memories of good time, filled with laughter and song. No laughter found her ears in this reality. No songs were sung today, for now she knew the truth. Only the hateful words of her former friends were in her head, echoing in the vast emptiness. Her legs failed her as her grief took over, destroying the little strength she may have had. In her mind, Rainbow shouted her declaration of hate, quickly followed by Twilight's disgusted sneer upon her sight.
Sanity slipping, she watched as a dark vortex began to appear in front of her. The vortex swirled slowly, a red light emanating from within. Pinkie could only watch as the light grew brighter, and brighter. Slowly, a black leg climbed out of it, taking the shape of a Unicorn. It's face was black, and featureless. No eyes decorated it, nor did any mouth rest upon it. Another leg stepped forth out of the void, taking the form of an Earth Pony, also featureless.
The Unicorn's foreleg suddenly began to change colors, shifting from black to a light shade of purple. A third black leg stepped out of the vortex, this one in the form of a Pegasus. The Unicorn now had color up to it's neck, as the Earth Pony's legs too began to gain color, orange. More and more came from the vortex until five shapes stood before her, two of them fully colored, while the others slowly filled in. She recognized them instantly. The ones who hated her. Only one distinction was made, their eyes were red.
The looks of anger on their faces pierced her very soul, destroying her heart like a serrated knife. Growling, the figures of her former friends sending her further from into her sadness. Their mouths opened, revealing sharp, saliva ridden teeth, dripping as they glistened somehow in the dark void. Pinkie merely began to cry as they closed in around her, growling and hissing as their eyes continued to glow brighter and brighter...
Scootaloo panted heavily as the wind rushed past her, howling in her ears as she continued to plummet. All she had wanted was to prove that she could fly, prove she did have worth. But she had failed... Her wings were unable to support her, leading her into a downward spiral of what felt like a forever free-fall. The wind bit at her body, feeling like sharp needles piercing her in every single direction. Cold surrounded her as the blue sky continued to move past her, clouds becoming nothing more then white arrows pointing to her inevitable crash landing.
Tears began to flow down her face as fear swept her very being. Looking down, she saw a rapidly approaching gathering of green, growing larger and larger as the seconds flew by. She cried out for help, begging anypony, anything to save her. But there were no unsung saviors to come to her aid... Not today. The ground continued to approach, now seeming larger than ever before. Closing her eyes, she awaited the swift end that awaited her on the cold ground... But it never came. She merely heard a loud cracking noise as shards of the ground broke around her, and she continued to fall.
The colors around her gradually began to change, first to a dark brown color matching the soil, then to a light red. She gasped, for she knew what was happening. She was falling way too far. Looking down, she could see the fires even from how high she still was, with a demonic laughter beginning to sound in her ears. Panicked, she flapped her wings, crying out in fear and helplessness, hoping for one small miracle to save her. But no... Her wings refused to help her, as the laughter grew louder and louder.
Not only the demonic laughter from below, however... As if in some sort of twisted choir, a chorus of her classmate's laughter began to surround her, their laughing faces flashing before her eyes as lines of dark red surrounded her. Names rang in her head, flightless, chicken, loser, useless, needless, and pathetic all rang in her ears as she closed her eyes, trying to drown them out in some way... Somehow escape the nightmare she was facing... But no relief came to her. Heat began to surround her body as her body became weak, and the roar of the fires became more prominent then ever.
Screaming in horror, she saw the fires begin to envelope her...
