Chapters RedJoy was sitting on a cloud on the outskirts of her home town Hoofsdale.
She looked down at the book she was reading. The book was called “Daring Doo and the Quest for the Sapphire Stone”. The first in the Daring Doo series. She had got the book a few days ago for her tenth birthday.
She had been reading the book nonstop and was almost finished. She looked down at the jungle.
She imagined what it would be like exploring ancient temples and ruins and finding long lost treasures.
She noticed a group of pegasi flying close to the tree tops. It almost seemed like they were chasing the one in front.
Then suddenly she realised they were the tibesponies from one of the tribes that live in the jungle.
But the one up the front looked different. She was in one of those outfits Daring Doo is always wearing.
Then she realised that this Pegasus was getting chased by the tribesponies! RedJoy leaped up and sped off to help the Pegasus. By what RedJoy could see, this Pegasus was an adventurer like Daring.
She guessed the pony had stolen something from one of the many ancient temples that are scattered around the jungle. One of the pursuers came up next to the adventurer and tried to ram into her.
The adventurer dodged the tribespony and made it collide with another also trying to ram into her.
They tumbled down towards the trees. RedJoy came up behind one of the tribesponies and rammed it into three others. There were now only three tribesponies left. Suddenly all three attacked the adventurer and sent her falling towards the trees below. They then turned their attention towards RedJoy. They charged at her all at once.
She managed to avoid the first two but flew head first into the third. Both RedJoy and the tribespony began to fall towards the trees below. She managed to regain control just in time. She swooped up.
The other two tibesponies that were following them down weren’t as lucky. RedJoy sped past them.
They were too shocked by how fast she had recovered that they paid no attention to how low they were getting.
They crashed face first into the ground at full speed. After making sure they weren’t going to follow her, she flew off in search for the pony they were chasing.
After a few minutes she found her unconscious with her face up against a tree. RedJoy noticed a bag lying on the ground near the Pegasus. She walked over to it and looked inside.
She couldn’t believe her eyes. It was the Ruby Dragon! No pony has seen it for at least three thousand years!
Whoever this Pegasus was she was really good. “And what do you think you’re doing looking through my stuff?” she heard come from behind her. She quickly closed the bag and turned around. Once again she couldn’t believe her eyes.
Standing right in front of her was Daring Doo! “Well? Ya going to answer or are just going to stand there?” She demanded. RedJoy was frozen with amazement. It was THE Daring Doo, and she was talking to her! “I...I...I...um.” she stuttered.
Daring suddenly burst into laughter. “It’s alright. Where did you come from anyway?” Daring asked.
RedJoy finely came out of shock. “You flew past the cloud I was sitting on. I rushed to help but I was too late.” RedJoy replied. “That’s very brave. Ha! Reminds me of what I was like as a filly.” Daring said.
“I take it you saw what’s in my bag? What with you going through it and all. She continued.
“The Ruby Dragon!” RedJoy said excitedly. “You know your treasures.” Daring replied.
“I need to get the Ruby Dragon to Las Pegasus.” She continued. “Las Pegasus? Hmm Oh! I know how you can get there! You can leave from Hoofsdale by train. There should be one leaving tomorrow. You can stay in Hoofsdale for the night.” RedJoy explained. “Hoofsdale? That doesn’t seem to ring a bell.” Daring replied.
“It’s only a small town but most of the ponies there are very friendly.” RedJoy replied.
“Alright then, lead the way.” Daring replied. RedJoy led Daring back to Hoofsdale.
After showing Daring around town show realised there weren’t any hotels of inns in the town.
“There isn’t anywhere you can stay tonight.” She sighed. “What about your house?” Daring asked.
“You want to stay at my house!?” RedJoy exclaimed. “Well you are you only pony I know in town, and there isn’t really anywhere else for me to stay. “ Daring replied. “Of course! Well that is if it’s ok with my parents.” RedJoy replied.
On the way to RedJoy’s house Daring noticed RedJoy’s horn. “Well that’s new.” She said.
“What is?” RedJoy said looking around for what she could be talking about. “Your horn.” Daring replied.
Pointing to RedJoy’s horn. “Oh yes. I’m an alicorn. That’s why I have both a horn and wings.” RedJoy explained.
“An alicorn? Wait like the Royal Sisters!?” Daring exclaimed.
“Yep. I’m one of the only four alicorns in not born in the royal family.” RedJoy explained.
“Well ain’t that something!” Daring replied.
They arrived at RedJoy’s house and they went inside.
“Mum, I’m home!” RedJoy yelled out. “Oh your home early dear.” Her mum called back from the next room.
“We have a guest mum.” RedJoy called. “Oh ok, one sec and I’ll be there.” She replied.
RedJoy’s mum appeared from around the corner. She froze dead when she saw Daring. “Good day ma’am.” Daring said to her. “My names Daring Doo. Teacher, archaeologist, explorer and not a very big fan of cats.” She continued.
“Daring needs somewhere to stay until the train tomorrow. Is it ok if she stays here the night?” RedJoy asked.
“Of course she can.” Her mum replied after snapping out of surprise.
That night Daring told RedJoy about all of her adventures.
The next day they went to the train station.
“Seya around kid.” Daring said to RedJoy. She scratched RedJoy on the head.
“I know who to come to if I ever need a partner.” She continued. “Really!?” RedJoy replied. “Seya.”
Daring called out as she boarded the train. Later that day RedJoy was sitting on her cloud, imagining what it would be like having an adventure with Daring Doo. She was there all day and she fell asleep on the cloud as the sun was setting.
Episode 2: From Out of Space!
RedJoy crept slowly through the tall grass. She knew that she would be in trouble if the tribesponies saw here.
She reached a patch of blue flowers called Poison Joke. Alicorns were immune to their affects so she continued on. Suddenly one of the tribesponies turned towards her direction. She ducked down so her blue mane blended in with the flowers. The tribepony walked over to the flowers. He looked around and went back over to his friend.
RedJoy sighed in relief. That was too close. She continued on towards the temple where she believed the Alicorn Necklace was. The necklace was part of a collection of evil objects like the Alicorn Amulet.
She wondered why anypony would make such evil things. She made it to the temple doorway where she looked inside. There were many visible traps and obstacles but there was a good chance there were more traps that were hidden.
She crept in, being careful not to stand on any buttons.
She came to a large hole in the floor where the ground had split due to its age. RedJoy was about to just fly over it when she noticed the trip wire near the walls. The wires were too close to each other for her to fit through with her wings out.
She couldn’t fly so she would have to jump. She took a few steps back and ran.
She made it to the other side and waited to see if she had set off any traps. Nothing happened.
She continued on down the hallway when she came to a large room. In the centre was the Alicorn Necklace.
She took a step forward. She heard a click as she stepped on a button on the floor. “Oh come on!” she thought out loud. She jumped forward just in time to dodge a barrage of arrows. She walked carefully up the stairs to the necklace.
She thought about it for a second. Remembering the time she read about in one of Daring’s books.
She looked at the pedestal the necklace was rested on carefully. She noticed a small hole under the necklace that looked like a thunder ant nest. Thunder ants are ants about the size of a soldier ant but they hurt about five times as much.
They are known to swarm their prey just like soldier ants. She knew that if she moved the necklace the ants would attack. She sat there and thought for a few minutes. Then suddenly she got it! If she somehow covers up the hole then she would be able to grab the necklace and run. She looked around and saw a large rock.
She brought it over to her with her magic and she lifted up the necklace. She quickly placed the rock over the hole and jumped back. She noticed a hole in the roof and flew up out of the temple.
She let out a breath she didn’t realise she was holding and looked up. Right there in front of he was about a dozen tribesponies. “Oh great.” She said to herself. She turned and flew as fast as she could. They all chased after her.
She looked back and saw the ponies chasing her. She flew close to the trees and used her magic to move the branches into the tribesponies paths. About four of them flew into the branches and fell to the ground.
Suddenly there was a bright flash. RedJoy recovered quickly and flew down into the trees.
The tribesponies seemed to still be dazed by the flash and kept on flying.
RedJoy flew back up after a few minutes and looked around. She saw smoke coming from the west and decided to take a look. As she got closer she saw that an asteroid had crashed into the jungle. It seemed to shine strangely as if it was made of metal. She flew down to the ground and noticed tracks leading away from the asteroid and into a cave.
RedJoy followed the tracks and went into the cave. It was pitch black inside so she casted a light spell and ventured in. she was in there for about ten minutes when she noticed the faint outline of a pony laying on the ground. She approached the pony slowly. He seemed to be badly hurt so she lifted him up with her magic and carried him back to Hoofsdale.
She took him straight to the hospital. She explained what happened and they took him to a room. She stayed by the bed and waited. She was almost asleep when the pony awoke. He screamed and jumped up. “NO!” He cried. He saw RedJoy staring at him in surprise. “Where am I? Who are you?” he panted. “You’re in the Hoofsdale hospital. My name is RedJoy. I brought you here after I found you in a cave.” RedJoy replied. He seemed confused. “Hoofsdale? What planet am I on?” he demanded. “Planet? You’re on Earth silly.” RedJoy replied with and friendly smile. “You must have hit your head quite hard” she finished. He looked around the room. “Earth ha? Well fancy that.” He replied. “Hmm. Are there Changelings on this planet by chance?” he asked. “Changelings? Yes but not in Equestria. Why?” RedJoy replied. He looked around the room again. “Seems like these ponies are about a tech level three. With a slight sense of fluffy architecture.” He said to himself. “Um I’m sorry mister but I have no idea what you talking about.” RedJoy said. He looked at RedJoy with a curious look in his eyes. “You seem quite small. Are all ponies on this planet that size?” He asked. “No, I’m just thirteen. But still the bravest pony that has ever been in Hoofsdale! Other than Daring Doo of course.” RedJoy replied. “This Daring Doo. Is she some kind of warrior or the such?” he asked. “Not really. Wait! Why are you asking me all these questions?” RedJoy demanded. “Who are you anyway and where did you come from?” She continued. “My dearest apologies. My name is Silver Zephyr and I come from a planet called Ponillia.” He replied. “Ponillia? Wait are you saying you’re from out of space?!” RedJoy asked. “Yes. Clearly this planet has yet to master space travel.” He replied. RedJoy’s eyes widened and she started smiling. “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” she yelled with excitement. “Um are you ok?” Silver asked. RedJoy calmed herself down and look a deep breath. “Yes um sorry. It’s just that your from out of space! Early you mentioned something about changelings. How do you know about them?” RedJoy asked. “They killed every pony on my planet. I’m the last survivor.” he replied. There was an awkward silence for a few minutes. “So what are you going to do now?” RedJoy asked. “I guess I will have to find somewhere to stay on this new world.” Silver replied. “You could stay with me if you want. At least until you can get a house of your own.” RedJoy offered. “Really? You would let somepony you just met stay in your house?” Silver asked. “Of course! I love helping anypony in need. No matter how strange they are.” RedJoy replied. “Ok then, lead the way.” Silver said.
RedJoy led Silver Zephyr back to her house. She had just moved into her own house and had still a few unpacked boxes lying around. “You live on your own? I thought you said you were only thirteen?” Silver said. “I am, it’s just that I can look after myself.” RedJoy replied. “What could possibly prove that a thirteen year old filly is able to look after herself so well?” Silver asked. “Quite a lot of things really. I can fly and use magic, I can fight off and out fly the tribesponies in the jungle.” RedJoy replied. “You say you can both fly AND use magic?” He asked. “Well I am an alicorn after all.” RedJoy replied. It seemed like he noticed her horn for the first time. “Oh… I see. Well that’s new to me.” Silver replied. RedJoy showed Sliver Zephyr around and took him to his room.
Later that night when Sliver had gone to bed, RedJoy sat there thinking about what had happened today. Suddenly she remembered the Alicorn Necklace. She went over to her bag and looked inside. It was still there. She had a sudden urge to put it on. She reached into the bag and pulled it out. She just stood there and looked at it for a while. She knew about what these objects did to ponies that put them on but she did anyway. She felt a flash of pain and pulled it off. She felt strange but put the necklace away and went to bed.
Episode 3: A friends secret
RedJoy was awoken by the smell of eggs. Silver was making his normal Sunday breakfast. She just laid there for a while, looking up at the roof. Suddenly she got a strong headache. It only lasted for a few seconds but it still hurt. These headaches stated when she put that necklace on three months ago so she was starting to get use to them. She got out of bed and walked out. Silver noticed her and gave her a friendly smile. “Good morning Red, have a good sleep?” He asked her. “Yea, you?” she replied. “Yep” He replied. They sat down at the table and ate breakfast. They were both really exited today because they were going to one of Party Thrower’s parties. Even though she would often throw just random parties this one was different. It was celebrating Party Thrower and her brother’s birthday. Her brother’s name was Rain Rider and RedJoy had known them both since she was five. They were both pegasi. It is believed that PT’s (Party Thrower’s) parties are as good as the element of laughter’s (Pinkie Pie) parties. RedJoy had heard about the elements while reading through one of her books.
Later that day they went to PT’s house to help set up everything. When they arrived they were greeted by PT and they began to set up the party. They were just about finished when PT suddenly let out a scream and fell to the ground. Everyone was shocked by the unexpected scream. Rain Rider ran up to PT and woke her up. RedJoy thought she saw a slight green glow like magic. Rain Rider took her into the next room. They thought they were out of ears length but RedJoy could still hear them. She didn’t mean to but she listened to what they were saying. “Their coming, I can feel it.” PT said. “I trust your ability in magic but can you really be sure?” Rain Rider asked. “Yes, I’m sure of it.” She replied “Well what are we going to do? We can’t exactly go around town suggesting that we are going to be attacked now can we?” PT replied. RedJoy was very confused. What were they talking about? Who’s going to attack them and why? “Mother will surely be leading the attack. I don’t think we stand against both her and the hive.” Rain Rider continued. “Even our true form might not be able to beat them.” PT replied. “We will just have to hope. Come on the others might be getting worried.” Rain said. They started back towards the door so RedJoy jumped back. They walked through the door. PT looked slightly pale and she could sense that both of them were very worried. “Are you alright PT?” Silver asked her, a worried look on his face. “Yes, I’m alright now, thank you” she replied. “I just need to lie down for a while.” She said. She walked into her bedroom and closed the door. RedJoy could hear a slight whooshing sound like magic, but she knew it wasn’t magic. She had never heard this sound before. She saw a slight green glow come from inside. She decided to think about it later. PT and Rain Rider said the party will have to be postponed until she got better. RedJoy and Silver went back home.
A few days later PT had fully recovered. The skies had been getting darker and darker. It was like something bad was about to happen. The whole town was on edge. Another few days later it happened. Everyone was watching as the major thanked RedJoy for all the rare treasures she had gave to the museum from her adventures. Suddenly there was an evil laugh in the air. RedJoy looked across at Party Thrower and Rain Rider. They both knew what was about to happen and they were scared. Suddenly all around the town appeared black bug like ponies. They were changelings! Everyone clumped up in a group. Everyone except for PT and Rain Rider. RedJoy ran over to them. “What are you guys doing? You can fight against changelings!” she yelled. Suddenly a changeling jumped out at her. She screamed as it stuck it’s fangs into her. She managed to kick it off and bring it down with her magic. She then realised that they needed to fight back. She ran up between PT and Rain Rider. “Stay back Red!” Rain Rider yelled. Just then a group of changelings attacked them. Suddenly a green light appeared around the changelings. They were sent flying backwards.
The three battled the changelings for another ten minutes. RedJoy was exhausted but the other two had barley broken a sweat. Just as it seemed they were going to beat the changeling army, a huge green glow appeared in front of them and a huge changeling a flashed into existents. “Mother” RedJoy heard Rain Rider whisper. They backed away slowly, knowing they were in no shape to face off against a changeling queen. A flash of lightning lit up the changeling’s face so RedJoy could get a good look at her. She recognised her from one of her books. (She reads a lot) It was Queen Chreeonis from the eastern hive! Chreeonis began to laugh. “You protect these weak little ponies against your own family! Surrender now and I might let some live to be part of the hive!” She yelled. PT and Rain Rider looked at each other. They looked very worried. “We aren’t going to let you just kill all of these ponies! We will fight to the death to protect them!” Rain Rider yelled back. “You care for them!” Chreeonis laughed. RedJoy was very confused right now. This changeling is talking to them like she knows them and they are doing the same. “I’m sorry mother, but if you want these ponies then you will have to go through us first!” PT yelled. She had never seen PT like this. “You know you don’t stand a chance against me!” The queen yelled back. PT and Rain Rider looked at each other and nodded. They stepped back and they were suddenly covered in a green glow. As the green glow moved over their bodies, the started to change. Their brightly coloured manes and tails turned grey and spiky, their teeth became long and pointy, their coats turned black, their eyes went fully green, their wings became very bug like and twisted horns appeared on their head. They were changelings! The ponies gasped when they saw their friend’s real forms. RedJoy couldn’t believe it. Friends she had known since she was five, her best friends, were changelings. Suddenly they leapt at the queen. She jumped out of the way with ease. She then swung her hoof around and slammed it into Rain Rider’s wing. He let out a cry of pain. The queen used her fangs to bite him. He let out another cry of pain as the queen sent poison through his blood. PT charged at the queen, desperate to save her bother. The queen let go of Rain Rider and turned her attention to PT. PT jumped at the queen but she was too fast. Queen smashed her hoof right into PT’s face. She screamed in pain as she fell to the ground, green blood pouring from nose. The queen let out a victories laugh then turned towards the ponies. RedJoy ran out in front of the other ponies. She had to do something. She couldn’t just let the queen win. RedJoy noticed something around her neck. She looked down to see the Alicorn Necklace around her neck. She put it on earlier because it temporarily made the headaches less painful. She thought she took it off though. She suddenly felt a large amount of power flow into her. The necklace began to glow and gave her even more power. With this extra power she shot a magical blast at the queen who screamed in pain as she was completely covered by the blast. The queen fell to the ground, dead. The necklace stopped glowing and she felt the power once again leave her. She couldn’t believe what just happened. She fell to the ground and passed out.
When she awoke she was laying on a bed in the hospital. She looked to her left and saw Rain Rider and Party Thrower in beds of their own. They were in much worse of a condition that she was. She could see X-rays of Rain Rider’s broken wing on the wall. It looked really bad. There were X-rays of PT’s skull on the wall as well. It looked just as bad.
About three weeks later all three of them were out of the hospital. Everyone seemed to watch them as they walked down to the river. Once they arrived they turned towards RedJoy. “RedJoy, we’re sorry” Rain Rider said. “We should have told you” Party Thrower said. “Our real names are Dark Wing and Shadow Heart” Rain Rider continued. RedJoy just sat there and thought about what they were saying. “We were cast out of the hive because we were different. We tried to make our mother understand that we didn’t need to kill to survive, we didn’t need to steal love.” Rain Rider or Dark Wing explained. “We’re not asking for your forgiveness, we just want you to know the truth.” Party Thrower or Shadow Heart said. “We’re sorry” They said. Suddenly RedJoy jumped up and hugged them tightly, tears in her eyes. She had read about changelings loving ponies before but she never believed them. Now she knows they were true. She began to cry.
Later they walked back into town. They were shocked when everyone cheered. The major walked up to them and smiled. Though she seemed a bit unconfutable being near them in their true form but she still thanked them. Instead of being sent away like they thought, they could stay in Hoofsdale.
That night RedJoy made sure that she took the necklace off any put it away. She then got into bed and thought about what had happened.
Episode 4: Guards Of The Night
RedJoy was awoken in the middle of the night by one of her headaches. This one was different. She had never had one this bad before. She tried to get back to sleep but couldn’t. After about half an hour she looked out the window. She could see the faint outline of a pony. She got up and went over to the window. She tried to who it was but it was too dark outside. The pony suddenly vanished into the night. RedJoy went back to bed and thought about the pony she had just seen. She soon fell asleep.
She woke up the next morning. She got up and walked out. Silver wasn’t up yet so she had breakfast and went outside. She noticed a large group of ponies. She went over to see what was going on. When she got closer she could see the tips of bat like wings. She managed to squeeze in because of her size. Standing in the middle of the crowd were five Lunar guards (Luna’s royal guards). They were all in full purple armour except for one. They seemed a bit annoyed by not being able to move past the crowd. RedJoy could see they wanted to be somewhere else. She asked the one without a helmet if they needed any help. “If you could then it would be most appreciated” she replied. RedJoy used her magic to teleport her and the guards away.
The one without a helmet then introduced herself. “My name is Midnight. I am captain of the lunar guards.” RedJoy looked at her wings. “Not to be rude but what’s with your wings?” She asked. Midnight got a worried look on her face. “AH! Are they one fire again!? Put them out, put them out put them out!” she cried. The other four night guards laughed. “Um no their not on fire. Do they catch fire a lot?” RedJoy asked her. “Only once but that is still one too many times” Midnight replied. “I was wondering why you have bat wings” RedJoy explained. “Oh sorry, Princess Luna thought it would be funny if we all had bat wings for this year’s Midnight Night. She found it so funny that she decided to not take them away” Midnight replied. “That’s a bit unfair don’t you think?” RedJoy asked. “They’re not that bad, I kinda like them” Midnight replied. “So why are you in Hoofsdale, if you don’t mind me asking?” RedJoy asked. “When Princess Luna heard about what happened here with the changelings, we were posted her to defend the town” Midnight explained. “Well what are you going to do?” RedJoy asked. “We are looking for a place to set up HQ” Midnight replied. “Well I know where there’s a big open area where it can go. I could take you there if you like” RedJoy offered. “Sure, I don’t see why not” Midnight replied.
RedJoy led them down the road. As they were walking Party Thrower ran up to RedJoy. “Hi there Red, I’m throwing a party tomorrow to celebrate defeating the other changelings, wana come?” She yelled. “Sure PT, your parties are the best!” RedJoy replied. PT noticed the lunar guards. “Ah…. Hi” She said with a slightly worried look on her face. “Can I talk to you for a second Red?” She asked. “Sure what’s wrong?” She asked as they walked over to a wall. “I know that pony” PT said. “You do, how?” RedJoy asked. “Back when I still served the hive. We attacked a small town. She was posted in the town and almost killed me” She replied. “What are you saying?” RedJoy asked. “I’m saying that if she finds out me or Rain are changelings we will be in trouble” She replied. “Then she just won’t find out then will she?” RedJoy said. “It’s not that simple. She might be only seventeen but there’s a reason why she’s the captain of the night guards” PT replied. “Well I’ll try to make sure that she doesn’t find out” RedJoy said as they walked back over.
“Ok then, seya at the party Red” PT yelled as she ran off. “Who was that?” Midnight asked as RedJoy got back. “Her name’s Party Thrower. She helped me defeat the changeling queen when the town was attacked” RedJoy replied. “Wait what!? You saved the town?” Midnight asked. “Yes why?” She replied. “It’s just that um you’re a bit…small” She replied. Suddenly RedJoy got a massive headache. She cringed at the pain but it only lasted for a few seconds. She looked down at the Alicorn Necklace. She thought if she put it on then she wouldn’t get any headaches. “Is that the Alicorn Necklace?!” Midnight exclaimed as she saw it around RedJoy’s neck. “Yea, I found it in one of the temples in the jungle” She explained. “How is it not affecting you?” Midnight asked “I’m not sure, maybe it’s because I’m an alicorn” She replied.
The next day RedJoy went to the party. She was surprised to see Midnight there as well. She didn’t think PT would invite her because of what she said the day before. Then Rain Rider walked in. he was used to being able to stay in his real form since everyone knew about it. PT hadn’t told him about Midnight and the night guards. “Changeling!” Midnight yelled. She jumped at him and knocked him onto the ground. “Dark Wing!” PT yelled as she ran over to help her brother. “It’s ok, I’m alright” He said to her as she leaned down to him. Suddenly two other lunar guards charge in. the three lunar guards trapped PT and Dark Wing. “Step away from the changeling” Midnight ordered. PT turned around and turned into Shadow Heart. “No” She simply said. Surprise flashed over Midnight’s face for a second before she realised what just happened. RedJoy didn’t know what to do. If she attacked Midnight then she would be arrested, but should couldn’t just stand there and let her friends get hurt. She used her magic to teleport her, Shadow Heart and Dark Wing away.
“Thanks Red” Shadow said. “Why did you change, they don’t know it’s was Rain but now they know you’re a changeling!” RedJoy yelled. “Relax Red. She can just use a different form” Dark Wing said. “She won’t have to, I’m going to try and explain this to Midnight” RedJoy said. Before they could reply she teleported back into town.
It took her around an hour to find Midnight again but when she did she didn’t look happy. She noticed RedJoy and walked up to her. “Why did you help them escape?!” She yelled. RedJoy took a few steps back. “I don’t know what you’re talking about” she replied. “There’s no point lying, I saw you” Midnight replied, anger in voice. “Did you even wonder why he wasn’t in disguise?!” RedJoy Yelled. “He was a changeling, does it even matter?!” She said. “Yes it does” RedJoy replied. “When I find those two, I’m going to throw them in jail, whether you like it or not!” Midnight replied. “You would throw the two ponies that almost die trying to defend this town against their own mother?!” RedJoy yelled. “They are NOT ponies, they are changelings, and I don’t care about what they did. I will find them!” She replied.
RedJoy frowned and teleported back to Dark Wing and Shadow Heart. “Any luck?” Dark Wing asked, not sounding too confident. “No” She replied. “I told you she wouldn’t care” He said. “What are we going to do? We can’t go back into town” Shadow Heart asked. “I don’t know” RedJoy replied. They found a cave and slept there the night.
The next day they were awoken by someone screaming. They ran out of the cave to find Midnight. Her wings were covered in flames! She flapped her wings, trying desperately to put them out. She kept on screaming. The three rushed to help her. Shadow Heart used her magic to calm Midnight by draining some for her energy. She hated doing this but it was the only way to calm her. Dark Wing flapped his wings to put the fires out. Once the fires were out they stepped back. Midnight stopped screaming. She was panting, her eyes were wide and her pupils were tiny. They took her into the cave and sat her down. She still seemed unconfutable about having two changelings right there but she seemed thankful. “How did they set alight?” RedJoy asked. “I um….dropped a candle on them” She replied. She had an embarrass look on her face. “But what were you even doing out here in the middle of the night?” Shadow Heart asked. “I was looking for you three” She replied. The three looked at each other. “Why?” RedJoy asked. “The ponies in town started complaining about you guys not coming back” Midnight replied. “I don’t know why they would, I mean, just the word changeling would cause most ponies to tremble in fear” She continued. “It’s because since the day of the attack, they know that not all changelings are bad” RedJoy explained. “But wouldn’t the attack just make them hate changelings even more?” Midnight asked. “It’s because we almost died trying to protect them against our own mother” Dark Wing replied. “But why, why would you fight against your own kind to protect a bunch of ponies?” Midnight asked. “We’re…..different” Shadow Heart said, showing her wings. “We stopped serving the queen long ago” Dark Wing explained. “I’m feeling a bit hungry Red, got anything to eat?” Shadow Heart said, looking at Midnight. Midnight had to know what changelings eat and seemed to get a bit nervous. They would never feed off her energy again but they weren’t going to tell her that, they were getting a bit of payback. All three of them burst into laughter. “What’s so funny?” Midnight demanded. “You should have seen your face!” Dark Wing laughed.
It had gotten late so they went to sleep so after. They would go back into town the next morning.
Episode 5: A Change World
RedJoy was dreaming about changelings. In her dream she was standing in a clearing in the jungle. She looked up as she heard a screech. A group of changelings came into view. They swooped down towards her. She turned and began to run. She let out a scream as she ran. She looked back to see the changelings gaining on her. Suddenly she tripped on a log that was lying on the path. The changelings flew up to her and pinned her down. She tried to use her magic on them but it didn’t work for some reason. The changeling bit into her with its fangs and sent poison through her blood. Slowly she began to loose consciousness. Her body went numb and her sight faded.
She woke up from her dream and she was in her room. She calmed herself and looked outside. It was about noon. She got out of bed and walked out. Silver Zephyr had got his own house and didn’t live with RedJoy anymore.
She went over to PT and Rain Rider’s house and told them about the dream. They looked each other with a worried look. They just told her to be careful. She knew they weren’t telling her something but she couldn’t figure out what. She went back home and got the book she was reading and flew up to her favourite cloud and started to read it. It got her mind off of the dream. She was there until the sun began to set and it got too dark to read.
She was about half way home when PT and Rain Rider walked up to her. They told her to follow them so she did. She thought she heard a noise come from behind them and looked back. She couldn’t see anything so she just ignored it. They led her to where the town met the jungle. They looked around before turning to RedJoy. “The changelings are going to attack again” PT whispered. “They’re going to take the three of us out first. One by one” Rain Rider explained. “That’s why we have to get you to safety” He continued. “No, I’m not going to just hide away and do nothing if the changelings attack again” RedJoy replied. “If your dream is what we think it is then they’ll go for you first” PT said. “It was just a dream, it’s not like it’s not like it’s going to come real” RedJoy replied. Suddenly there was a terrible screech. They looked up to see a large group of changelings appear over the trees. “Get back!” Rain Rider ordered. They changed into Dark Wing and Shadow Heart and braced themselves. The changelings swarmed them, trapping the three. RedJoy used her magic to blast through a less dense part of the changeling group. “Come on!” RedJoy yelled. “You go, we’ll hold them off!” Dark Wing yelled back. RedJoy ran through the gap and into the jungle.
As she flew through the trees, a sharp branch cut into her wing. She fell to the grown and checked her wing. It was badly cut and she wouldn’t be able to fly. She was in a lot of pain but she got back up and started to run. She came to a clearing and looked around. She had just reached other side when she heard a screech. A small group of changelings appeared and flew straight at her. She turned and stated to run. This was just like in her dream. She looked back and saw the changelings gaining on her. She tripped on a log that was lying on the path and she fell over. Before she could get up a changeling flew over to her and pinned her to the ground. It used its fangs to bite into her and sent poison through her blood. She began to feel numb and couldn’t move. She tried to use her magic to get the changeling off but the poison made it impossible. Her sight began to fade and she lost consciousness.
When she awoke, she was trapped in a cocoon like thing full of green goo. See couldn’t move anything but her eyes. She looked around the cave she was in and saw a changeling queen. She couldn’t make out who it was in the dimly lit room. suddenly she saw five changelings appear with Dark Wing and Shadow Heart. They looked up and saw RedJoy in the cocoon. “Let RedJoy go!” Dark Wing cried. The changeling queen laughed. “Her abilities will be a great help to the hive. Especially after we have destroyed your town and move on to bigger prey” The queen replied calmly. RedJoy heard a strange fizzing sound come from her mane and looked up. Her mane was beginning to turn grey. She knew what was happening. She was being turned into a changeling! She tried to break out of the cocoon but she couldn’t move. Her red coat began to turn black and her wings started to change. She could feel fangs start to form in her mouth. Her hearing was starting to fade but she could still hear them yelling below. “You don’t have to steal ponies love to survive!” Shadow Heart yelled at the queen. “I know, it’s just more fun to steal it” The queen replied. Dark Wing looked up at RedJoy and saw how fast she was changing. “Leave RedJoy alone, it’s us you want, not her!” He yelled. The queen started to laugh again. “Do you still think this is about getting you still? I have only let you live this long so you can watch as your friend is become one of us” the queen said. RedJoy’s hearing had now almost completely faded and she started to feel dizzy. “Take them away!” The queen ordered. RedJoy lost consciousness as Dark Wing and Shadow Heart were dragged away.
She was awoken by the sound of a changeling breaking the cocoon. It broke and she fell to the ground. The queen came up to her and told her to go help the other changelings. She ran off towards the other changelings, hoping she could sneak out and get away she came to the other changelings. They had trapped Dark Wing and Shadow Heart as they were trying to escape. RedJoy flew up into the circle right in front of them. They were shocked to see RedJoy like this. Her blue mane and tail were now grey, her red coat was pitch black, her pupils had changed, her wings were more like theirs and sharp fangs hung out of her mouth. RedJoy moved like she was going to jump at them. Suddenly see winked at them. They look at each other confused. RedJoy spun around and used her magic to bring part of the cave down on the changelings. “Come on, we have to get out of here!” RedJoy yelled over the screams of the changelings. They had confused looks on their faces but they followed RedJoy out of the cave.
As soon as they were out of the cave they flew as fast as they could into jungle. They had flown for about half an hour when they stopped. “Thanks” Dark Wing said. “I just don’t understand how your still…well you” Shadow Heart said. “I’m not sure” RedJoy replied. “Well it’ll take the hive ages to get back to that size so we won’t have to worry about them for a while” Dark Wing said. “You better change back if we’re going back to town, RedJoy” Shadow Heart said. “I’ll try my best” She replied. RedJoy focused as hard as she could. Slowly she changed back into her original self. “Ok now let’s go” She said. They turned towards Hoofsdale and flew off.
