Discord's Warrior

As I slowly got up from being next to Palewing I wiped the tears from my eyes and started to turn to what I thought was the exit of this damned place. I look back at her and say the only thing I could say “I’m so sorry Palewing”

Emptiness, more than sadness is what I felt for just losing my first and only friend here and I couldn’t do anything to stop that dragon from killing her; I mean she saved me from those timberwolves even though she didn’t have anything to gain from doing so.

And in a way she helped me to learn how to fly, but I never did anything good for her I basically only cooked for her once, how can that compare to her saving me?

But no I just had to chicken out at the last moment like a coward that couldn’t even protect myself let alone someone else I am worse than scum I should have given my life to protect her.

I felt a heavy guilt inside of me not for killing that bastard mercilessly but for not being able to do so just a minute sooner by cutting the arm that was holding her.

Every time I closed my eyes I would see Palewing’s face as the claw pierced into her chest I started to shake and shiver as I walked slowly out of the forest when I stopped.

“I don’t think I can do this anymore Discord, I know I can’t do this alone but I just don’t want people dying over me just because I’m to bucking weak and scared to save them”

‘I know you have experienced the death of loved ones in your life before Storm Chaser but that was before I brought you here, before you could do next to nothing to protect them from harm. Things are different now’

“Nothing is different can’t you see?” I said raising my tone “I’m still that coward weakling that watched his father die in front of his eyes!”

Tears started to well up in my eyes as my anger and frustration once again started to affect me.
“I’m hopeless, I’m given a strong body and a magical sword but I still can’t do a thing to defend anyone my body is strong but I am weak”

‘Yes you do have weaknesses; your greatest weaknesses are low self-confidence and the fear to lose someone close to you’

“Gee, thanks Discord I feel so much better know that you also think I’m weak”

‘SHUT UP!!! And let me finish, your greatest weakness can sure hinder you at times but it can also become your greatest strength’

“Yeah right and how would I be able to do that?”

‘Your fear to losing your friends will help you, now listen to me and listen well because I am not a pep talker. When you want to cut somebody you cut them thinking “I will kill you so you won’t hurt my friends!” when you want to block somebodies attack you do it thinking “you wont hit me so that I can protect my friends!” and if you do these things you won’t lose anyone ever again’

Discord’s words where inspiring and were similar to something I had heard long ago.

‘Now get off your flank, and let’s go and remember I am not going to be treating you like a foal anymore this world is tough so get tougher than it’

His words made me forget slightly about the guilt and sadness enough to stop feeling sorry for myself so I got up again and starts to walk faster towards the edge of the forest.

“Thanks Discord. Oh and what the buck happened to me back there and how can I control when I turn into that?”

‘Don’t you remember? You got the pegasus and the dragon on the wheel of species so I gave you your pegasus body with some dragon parts in as well just to add a little chaotic style I call it the dragon pony, oh and Eclipse Slicer is needed for the transformation so don’t go losing it’

I took in this new information and asked once more “And how exactly do I control when I turn into a dragon pony?”
‘Now, now I can’t really tell you everything that would make this whole experience boring and besides don’t rely on that, try to rely on your swordsmanship and your flying skills’

I was annoyed by this but I shrugged it off and I started to fly at a fast pace to see if I could improve my flying while getting out of Legerdemane faster so that I wouldn’t spend another night in there.

I finally got to the edge of the forest after what I thought was an hour of flying at a slow steady pace so that I wouldn’t get tired out quickly while I practiced with Eclipse Slicer cutting off a lot of the branches from the trees.

I landed and started to walk out of the forest to see there was a prairie with no trees some tall grass, small flowers growing almost everywhere and a small stream flowing across it.

‘Finally you’re out of that forest, I don’t really know my way around these parts but I do know that after this prairie is a very big desert that may have a small town inside it’

“Ok so I should probably look for something to eat, maybe something to carry water in and hopefully I will find that town so I can get me a map”

I then started to look around for edible things that weren’t grass at least just because I’m a herbivore doesn’t men I’ll eat what everyone steps on.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything to eat that wasn’t dry grass so I swallowed my pride and two mouthfuls of the most tasteless thing I ever ate.

“I can’t believe I really just ate grass” I said as I spat out some of it onto the dry grass I was standing on.
‘Hahaha I haven’t seen anypony eat grass in a long time’

“Yeah I can see why they haven’t it tastes terrible” I said as my stomach still grumbled “Damn I don’t see anything else that I can.. wait I know”

I then walked up to some of the flowers I had seen “Well I doubt it can taste worse than that dry grass” I lowered my head and ate one of the small yellow flowers as I chewed I noticed a small hint of a sugary flavor.

“Well they’re not half bad, but I still prefer fruit over these” after I ate some more I walked up to the small stream and drank from it the water was cool against my face.

While I drank the water I noticed something shimmering downstream so I walked up to it and picked it up.
“Sweet a canteen, I really needed one of these” I said as I grabbed it “now I need something to tie it with”

I looked around and got the thickest strand of tall grass I could find and I tied the canteen to my right side so that it wouldn’t get in the way when I try to get my sword out.

After I washed the canteen making sure I wouldn’t get sick from drinking from it, I noticed a strange smell.

“Damn I hope that isn’t what I think it is” I moved toward the smell that seemed to be coming from a patch of tall grass, I moved the tall grass so that I could see what was inside.

The sight sickened me a little it was a unicorn a mare I think there was blood all around her, she was missing all four of her legs, and her side was slashed open by some unknown weapon, her coat was of a light yellow color and her mane some of the parts that weren’t covered in her blood was light blue.

I instantly backed away surprised at the gruesome scene in what was seemingly a peaceful place.

‘Don’t be fooled by appearances Storm Chaser every single place has one or more deadly threats under its seemingly normal exterior’

“Yeah I’ll try not to lower my guard again” I then looked up to the sky to see the Sun already getting close to the horizon.
“Hey Dicord how come the sun and the moon still move? I just thought about it now”

‘Well I don’t really know the specifics myself but it’s probably because the princesses are still alive and they still have magic so they probably instinctively use it to raise the moon and sun’

“Well that makes sense I guess, I think I’m going to camp out for the night up on that last tree because I don’t think I will be able to see that town at night”

I flew up to the last big tree of the Legerdemane forest and found a thick branch that could hold my weight and was thick enough so that I wouldn’t fall out at night.

Somewhere else in Equestria

A shadowy figure starts talking to a big dragon
“General Razor Claw I have some news to report” said the smaller shadowy figure

“You may speak freely Shadow Scale, what is this news?” said the dragon

“You see General I just came back from Legerdemane forest where the new drake was stationed to look for the last Wyvrex”
“Ah, yes the Wyvrex its truly a shame what happened they really should have just joined their rage was not easily matched by the other clans but their strength on the other claw was not as great as their rage”

“Yes well you see General the mission was a success the dragoness was eliminated, but the drake sent to do the mission was also killed”

“Ah, that fool must have let his guard down that dragoness was easy on the eyes” he smirked remembering past days.
“The thing is I don’t think it was her who did it; the drake was butchered so much so that I couldn’t identify him correctly it looked like maybe another one of the Commanders could have done it”

This intrigued the General “Who could have done this? Did you see any other drake in the vicinity that could be responsible?”

“I didn’t see any other dragon around but I did see a pegasus pony with a sword walking away from the bodies”
“That’s certainly odd are you sure about this?”

“Yes my general I saw that pegasus with my own two eyes, but stranger still I could swear I could smell a third dragon around but I couldn’t see anydrake out there”

“Well if you are right he is headed toward the desert, so give a description to the wanted list and tell them to bring him to me alive maybe the bounty hunters will see if something makes that pony special”

“Yes general shall I report to the High King as well?”

The General thought about this for a moment “No I don’t think we should bother him with such things, it could still be a coincidence”

“Very well General I shall give the description to the wanted list, shall I do anything else?”

“Yes follow him and stick to the shadows if by some crazy chance he managed to kill that dragon, he might be able to land a hit on you as well”

The shadowy figure smirked “General please I am the shadows he won’t ever see me”

Shadow Scale then disappeared into the shadows off to do what his General had commanded him to.

“Could this really be? I can only hope that it is true that Wyvrex incident was the last straw I will have to do something about this, but when?”

Back at the tree: The next day

I yawned as I woke up stretching my wings and legs and cracking my neck “Well I better start going to the desert I guess”
I flew down from the branch and ate more of the flowers still not being used to eating like a herbivore, I then filled up my canteen again and started off to the other side of the prairie.

After walking for some 10 minutes the territory slowly changed into a desert with less and less grass and more sand then I came upon an old wooden signpost that said Mohoove desert.

“You’re kidding me” I said as I started laughing a little
‘What’s so funny?’

“Oh nothing let’s just go already before the temperature goes up too much”

I started walking again when I noticed there was a very big drop-off that separated where the prairie ended and the real desert began.

“Wow it’s pretty big it’s going to take more than a day to pass through that I bet”

“Yes it does but you will never touch that sand alive that is”

I instantly unsheathed Eclipse Slicer and looked back to see a diamond dog with a large knife in his hand and a menacing look on his face.

I started to fly just above the ground and readied my sword waiting for him to make the first move.
“I’m going to eat you it’s a shame you aren’t a female like yesterday’s meal but you will have to do”

“Come and get some then” I said as I flew directly at him, the diamond dog then balled his hand into a fist and punched me with it, but I then swung my sword at his hand and cut it clean off.

He then started screaming in pain as he held his left arm right above of where I had cut, the diamond dog then looked at me again and swung his knife at me as fast as he could.

So I swung my sword and hit his knife cutting right through it and his chest killing him instantly.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought” I said as I sheathed my sword again.

‘You did very well Storm Chaser, the Mohoove desert is riddled with diamond dog packs so you better watch out’
“Damn I haven’t even stepped in there yet and already had to fight for my life, this is going to suck”
