The Mishap of Ms. Sparkle
Unexpected Confrontations
Load Full StoryNext ChapterAs Twilight continued toward The Villa down the dark streets of Ponyville, she started to think of the warnings she had gotten from the ponies in town. One in particular seemed to want to keep her from going there a bit more than the other ponies she had asked, Lyra Heartstrings. Why does she feel this way? They had never really been close.
Every step Twilight took got her closer, but farther from The Villa. Every inch closer, the more she pondered the possibilities of what waited for her at The Villa and why Lyra seems like she wants to keep Twilight away with her life. As she thought about it more she remembered the confrontations with her friends and Lyra.
She found her friends and basically all of Ponyville at Sugarcube Corner partying with Pinkie, except for Dash. The moment she realized this Dash had come through the door. Dash looked around the room and saw Pinkie eating a rainbow cupcake, her stomach turned and she quickly left, no longer having the appetite for the party. She went around to all of her available friends and asked the same question, "Why does no pony live in The Villa any longer?" They all replied with the same basic warning, that the house was haunted and not a single pony has ever gone in and come out alive, or deceased. That anypony that has ever ventured into The Villa, has never been seen again. She shrugged these warnings off as Lyra pulled her to the side away from everypony, "Promise me." Twilight looked at Lyra confused, "Promise you wh-" "Promise me you'll never go in that house, ever, not in your life." Lyra looked at Twilight questioningly. "I'm sorry Lyra, I have to find an explanation for this. It's not possible for a house to be haunted, it's illogical." The second she finished speaking Lyra leaned forward and kissed Twilight softly on the lips, Twilight's eyes widened but she soon found herself enjoying it and kissing back, after a moment Lyra pulled back, "Please, promise me you'll keep away from that house. I don't want to lose you like I did my friend... Bonbon...:" Twilight looked at Lyra even more confused now about the event that had just transpired. "I-I... I promise.." Twilight responded in a bit of confusion
"Oh, sorry about what just happened.. I... I like you.. That's why I never talk around you.. I just felt i'd stumble on the words." Lyra spoke looking down toward the ground. "Lyra?" As Twilight said her name she picked her head up and looked into Twilight's eyes again, "I'm still confused, I've never been in this situation before... what do I do, what books do I read?" Pinkie looks over from across the room hearing Twilight babbling, "Looks like I need to have a talk with a certain purple pony!" Pinkie hopped in an overexcited manner over to Twilight and Lyra, "Excuse us for a teeny-tiny second?" She said as she pulled Twilight away from Lyra. "Twilight was as confused as Lyra when she said, "Umm... Pinkie? What are you doing?" Pinkie looked at Twilight as if she were a young foal just learning the basic rules of society, "Books can't teach you what you need to learn for yourself, you need to not worry about the books right now and worry about yourself and your feelings. If you start over thinking again, just think of something that calms you, like Rarity! Oops... That was supposed to stay in my head. Oh well, no matter!" Twilight's facial expression gained a bit more of an understanding look and she turned around, saying quietly, "Thanks Pinkie." Pinkie's gaze averted from Twilight to Rarity, she soon realized that Rarity was turned away from her and that she could see her backside. She quickly turned away with her face a more reddish color than normal, then returned to her normal party-goer pony self, after the red faded of course.
Soon after she had left the party and was where she is now, on the path to The Villa. The Villa was to be the spot of her next "study," More like spying, but on a house. On the way to her house she had noticed that the grass slowly faded and completely disappeared, along with all other forms of vegetation on the way to the house. The only things still standing were the dead trees and of course, The Villa. After noticing this it only took her five or six minutes to get to The Villa, after she arrived she set up her "camp," a small stand, three papers, a quill, an inkwell, and a small bed under a cloth spread between four of the trees. She noticed right away that over the roof of the house a flag in the colors white, orange, and yellow, as well as the fact the they sky seemed motionless. The clouds over the roof stuck in one positions as if they had been glued and the darkness around the house had only barely been illuminated by the light coming from Twilight's horn as she needed it to write. As she began to write this down in her notes she felt a sharp pain in her head and quickly everything went black. A young and white unicorn began to pull her toward The Villa using levitation, obviously inexperienced as Twilight was barely off the ground.
"Do you need help?" A familiar and young, orange pegasi said quietly. "I can bring her to house by myself, go!" A young unicorn said obviously annoyed. "Would ya'll hurry up, somepony's comin'!" All three of the young fillies turned to see a shadow slowly approaching the Villa calling, "Twilight, are you there? Is everything okay?" They all turned and ran to the Villa, Twilight being carried by the unicorn still, unconscious and barely breathing. After a moment they made it to the basement doors outside of the Villa and quickly threw them open, ran in and closed them with a lock keeping it from opening again.
Twilight awoke chained close to the floor and unable to move, a very sharp pain in her head reminding her that this isn't a dream. As she awoke she began to smell what seemed like rotting flesh and old blood. "So, you're awake, I thought you'd have woken before. You must be in some pain." Twilight was given no chance to answer as another voice chimed in, "Ya knew ya weren't supposed to be comin' here, yet ya did anyway. Ah thought ya were a smart pony Twilight, ah reckon ah was mistakin' ya fer what ya weren't, huh?" Twilight soon found that she had another pain on the high areas of both her hind legs, "I guess we should tell what we're going to do beforehand, seems like the right thing to know doesn't it?" Twilight soon recognized every voice she just heard "Sweetie Belle... Scootaloo... Apple Bloom... Why are you doing this...?" She could hear them, though not understanding what they were saying or seeing them in the dark room, she knew what they were planning couldn't be good. "Seems like we're going to have our own little spin on a rainbow factory, doesn't it Sweetie Belle?" Twilight's eyes dart back and forth as her eyes begin focusing in the dark, she sees a pony, or what used to be a pony, lying on a table behind the three young fillies. Under her breath she whispers, "Bonbon..." She saw the pony that had disappeared just days ago, lying dead, in pieces as it seemed like her bones and flesh were toyed with while she was being cut open. "Why....?"
