Chapter 1 Our story begins with a man who has changed the Mojave Wasteland. Hal Richards, also known as "The Courier", has just ousted the Legion from Hoover Dam. After such a long fight, it was over. The young, 20 year old man with nice brown hair, soft blue eyes, light skin, and a friendly smile was walking towards the commanding Sergeant of the invasion. All around him, the bodies of Legionaries and NCR alike lay all over the ground, bones broken and skin torn by bullets and knives. As he approached the NCR command post, the Sergeant turned to face him. "Hey Richards, you finally made it!", The Sergeant exclaimed. "Just taking a look around the place. Though it might take awhile to wash off all the blood," Richard said, grinning at the same time. "Heh, well, your work isn't over yet though. Some Rangers said they found a group of Legionaries running 'bout south. You can catch up to them if you run." Richards only replied with a nod of the head and tipping down his desperado hat. As he walked out a NPR trooper said, "Hey, Courier, why don't you get rid of that hat. Its getting pretty raggedy!" The Courier just looked at him and said, "Can't. Helps me remember some...friends...i had." "Oh, ok!," the trooper said, "Just be careful out there. Can't have the hero of the NCR getting killed!" Richards straightens out his Duster, and checks his magnum. As he walks out of the Dam, his mind wanders back to better days......... He was running around the hallways of his vault, trying to get to his birthday on time. As he gets there, he's surprised to see nearly everyone in the vault there. Richards skids to a stop, and looks around. He excitedly runs in, for his Father to hold him back and say "Hey, wheres the fire!". Richard stops, and looks back at his dad. His father pats his head lovingly, then reaches for a box. "Your Great great great grandfather owned this. It was made before the War." He slowly opened the box, revealing a cowboy style Desperado Hat. "Its all yours son.", as he hands Richards the hat. Richard gazes at it, then puts it on his head. He goes over to his friends and they all pretend to be bandits as his father lovingly looks at him. Richard is snapped out of it as he hears trudging up ahead. Crouching down, he sneaks to the top of the hill. As he looks down, he notices 6 Legionaries milling about. Most of them had knives, but 2 of them had some old rifles. "No match for Longshot", thought Richard as he slowly took off his rifle. He lined up the sights on the head of a Legionary with a shotgun, held his breath, and slowly pulled the trigger..... FOOM. The Legionary only had a second to look at the sound of the shot before his brains were scattered over the desert floor in a bloody arc. The rest of the Legionaries had nearly no time to react, as 2 other men were taken out in the same manner before the survivors got to cover behind old, rusted cars."Damn!", Richards swore under his breath as he holstered the rifle and took out his magnum. He quickly runs down the hill and gets to cover, just as the remaining Legionary with a gun tries unloading on him. Entering VATS, Richards took out the rifleman with 2 well aimed shots to the head. As the man flopped down in his death throes, Richards leaned back behind the car and took out a Frag. "Overkill, but acceptable...", He thought to himself. Throwing the frag over the car at the survivors he ducked down as a large explosion rocked the place. Looking up, he found a even more burned out car wreck with 3 bodies lying around it. "Wait, wheres the sixth one?", he thought, just as he heard a war cry behind him. A running Legionary runs into him, knocking his magnum from his hands. "Shit!", he said, as he struggled to take out his knife. A kick in his stomach stopped him from that, and he settled for tackling the man's legs. As he goes down, he begins punching the Legionary in the face, until he took the Legionary's own knife and slit the buggers throat. He got up, and wiped the blood off his face with the sleeve of his Duster. Walking back to pick his gear up, he sighed and prepared himself for the messy job of looting the bodies.... Meanwhile, in Ponyville.... Twilight was up late at night doing what she does best: Studying. She yawns in exhaustion, but still levitates a quill and a piece of paper, dipping the quill into the inkwell. "Dear Princess Celestia," She sleepily mumbled to herself, "I have made a breakthrough with my teleportation spells. I think i have managed to make near energy free, and simply used teleportation. I will do a test of it in the morning." Twilight sleepily got up, then trotted to her bed. She noticed Spike was peacefully sleeping soundly next to her bed, so she patted his head and then groggily lay down on her bed. The next morning..... Twilight got up bright and early, and awoke to smell some breakfast. As she walked downstairs, she warmly smiled as Spike greeted her. Sitting down, she quickly scarfed down her breakfast. "What are you rushing for?", Spike asked, as Twilight replied "Oh, im testing out a new spell today". As Spike nodded and followed Twilight outside, she met Rainbow Dash flying by. "Hey Dash!", Twilight called out. Dash looked down and flew towards her. "Hey Sparkle, how are ya?", she said with a tomboyish tone. "Just testing out a new spell, RD", Twilight replied. "Lets hope it doesn't go wrong like the other 100 times it has...", Dash said, rolling her eyes. "It wont go wrong this time, i promise!",Twilight said. Twilight focused on the field near her house, and her horn started to glow. A small "eep" escaped from her when she saw a large rift appearing in the center of the field. "That's not supposed to happen...", She said. As the rift grew to a breaking point, a large discharge of energy was sent out, knocking everypony to the ground. "Ughh, what happened....", Dash said. "I dont know...Wait, is that a...portal?", Twilight said. Looking through it, she gasped as she saw the strangest creature ever through it, staring at her with what she guessed was shock on its face. "What the hell....", it said, making Twilight gasp. Chapter 1: Whats English?View OnlineFallout: Rainbows?Chapter 1: Whats English?Chapter 1: Whats a legion? Richards was nearly done looting the bodies of the dead Legionaries when all of a sudden he heard a loud noise. Turning around, he saw a purple....cloud of energy expanding in the middle of the clearing. Slowly backing up, he eventually started running and took cover behind a car as a bolt of energy shot out of it. Hearing the sound of wind dying down, Richards peeks over the top to see a mysterious hole in the air where the "storm" was. Slowly getting up, Richards walks over to it. Looking through it, Richards sees something that shouldn't exist, something from fantasy, something from....his childhood? The It in question was a small purple.....UNICORN......looking through the portal with what could only be wonder at him. "What the hell......", he said, and the unicorn gasped! Richards backed up in shock, then slowly said "Hello?". The unicorn slowly looked at him, then said "he-h-ello". Richards gasped, and said "You can speak english!?" The small equine slowly said "Whats english?", to which Richards responds with a "Am i hallucinating?" The unicorn looks at him, and says "You act like you haven't seen a unicorn before". Richards responds with "They're just from fantasy, and not real. And they definitely don't talk!" The unicorn slowly gazed at him, then said "Well, i have never seen a creature like you before.' Richards sighs at this, and says "Look, we got off on the wrong foot. My name is Richard, but you can call me the courier. I'm a human." Richards smiles and extends his hand, briefly calling himself stupid thinking that this small horse would know what a hand shake is.To his surprise, the unicorn extends her ha-hoof, and somehow grasps Richards hand. "My name is Twilight", the unicorn said. The unicorn looked around, then noticed the bodies. "Wh-y-y are those...humans. dead?!", Twilight shouted. Richards just simply said "I killed them", not realizing the repercussions this would have. Twilight gasps at him, then says "But why! You don't go around killing everypony you see!". Richards sighs, then explains. "Those bastards where trying to escape from a major battle a few hours walk over there. They're part of these humans called the Legion. They've raped and killed countless people, and destroyed countless lives. These ones were trying to escape, and i couldn't let that happen, now could i?" Twilight responds, saying "Why would they do these horrible things!" Richards sighs, then thinks "Another innocent one", then goes into an explanation. 15 MINUTES LATER "So, they believe that they can have a better live if they commit these horrible acts, and its your job to stop them?", Twilight said, while the courier responded with a nod, "People would do anything to have a better life these days. Especially after the war.....", Richards said. Twilight looked at him with a blank expression, and Richards sighed. "If you don't know what i mean, listen to this. Years ago, this was a prosperous land of the free. Formerly called America, we got in some deep shit when resources started running out. Oil, uranium, you name it. We needed that stuff to keep our way of life, but those damn Chinese thought they could take it. A war was started, further straining the Earth's lowering amount of resources. Finally, it all came to a breaking point when the missiles launched...." Twilight gave him another blank stare, to which he explained "A type of rocket filled with an uranium core. Years before the war, we figured out how to actually split the atom, and harness enormous amounts of energy. Unfortunately, those could be used in a bomb...", Taking a deep breath, he continued to explain,. "After the bombs dropped, the land was destroyed. Animals mutated from the leftover radiation or energy from the bombs into horrible creatures. Billions died. Most major cities were destroyed, and nearly all bodies of water were contaminated. People kill each other just over clean water here. All we can do is hope to survive to the next day, and try to find a way to rebuild. Assholes like the Legion aren't really in favor of organized government, and they'll do anything to keep the Wasteland a hellhole." Finishing his story, Richards sighed and said "Do you get it now?" Twilight only had a tear come out of her eye. "For you to endure that, and keep going..." Twilight said, and she drew him into a hug. Richards stared at her for a few seconds, then shrugged and embraced her as well, giving him comfort under the hot Wasteland sun. TO BE CONTINUED
Chapter 2: Princess?!View OnlineFallout: Rainbows?Chapter 2: Princess?!Chapter 2: Princess?! Richards was snapped out of his hug with Twilight by the sound of fluttering wings. Looking up, he gets hit in the face by a...Rainbow colored Pegasus!? Rolling down, he hears a rough voice saying, "Twilight run, i'l hold this monster back!" Richards gazes up at the winged Equine on his chest, laughs, then easily knocks her off. "Listen kid, i got much more experience than you." Dash stares up at Richard in shock hearing the "monster" speak, then realizes that she's on the ground. Shaking dirt off herself, she sits up and says "Well, why were you attacking Twilight!". Richards rolls his eyes, then points at Twilight and said "She was hugging me after i told her about this world...." Dash seems confused, then gets excited on the words "This world". She gets up, then says "Wow, were on a different world!" Dash excitedly looks around, but quiets down when she notices the dreary brown sky, the dead bodies, and the burnt scrub everywhere. Looking at Richards fearfully, Richard explains "Its a long story...". FORTY FIVE MINUTES LATER Dash is looking at Richards with sadness in her eyes. "An entire new world...that's destroyed....", She sadly says, looking at Richards. All of a sudden, Twilight springs up. "Wait, we have to tell the princesses about this!" Running back into the portal, Richard gazes after her, then looks at Dash and says "What Princesses?" As Richard follows Twilight into the portal, hes assaulted by a tide of color. In front of him lays a crowd of 50 ponies, comprised of Pegasi, Unicorns, and normal looking Ponies. After a few seconds of silence, most of the ponies run off, except for a pink normal pony with a bushy mane. Drawing in a deep breath, she suddenly appears right in front of Richards and starts singing about him being welcomed to "Ponyville". Richard sighs inside himself, thinking" Wow, Ponyville. SOOOOOOO original. On the completion of the song, the pink pony pulls out...IS THAT A BLOODY CANNON? Pulling a string on the back of it, Richard is splashed with a wave of confetti. When the wave of confetti dies down, Richard finds that a party hat is now hanging crookedly on his Desperado hat. "Well....that's a warm reception....", he said to the pink pony. The pony giggled and then went, "Hi, i'm Pinkie Pie!". Richard sighed inside himself again, then thinks "Well, everyone is named like in a little kids book... Perfect!" Suddenly he is bathed in a white light, as Twilight re-appears with a majestic pony. With a flowing multicolored mane, a white coat, and both wings AND a horn, it was a majestic creature. "All bow for the princess!", Twilight declares, and Richards looks around to see the crowd of ponies from earlier kneeling around him, facing the "Princess". Richard looks around, then realizes that hes the only one standing. Growing up in a democratic country, Richard stood still, not bowing down to the self proclaimed Queen of Equestria. TO BE CONTINUED
Chapter 3: Welcome to the damView OnlineFallout: Rainbows?Chapter 3: Welcome to the damChapter 3: Welcome to the dam. Celestia slowly gazed at the mysterious creature that called itself "The Courier". Upon meeting his eyes, the "hoo-man" give her a weird gesture with one of its bigger...appendages on its hoof rising up. The creature opened its mouth, and said "Your the princess, i suppose." Celestia nodded, then said "So, "human", why are you here?" The creature responded by saying "Well, ma'am, i just helped some of my other allies, a group called the NCR, run out their enemies from Hoover Dam. While hunting down some stragglers, a portal opened up and that small purple unicorn was looking through it." To emphasize its point, it waved back behind it towards a portal. The portal appeared to lead to a brown sky, with some rusted metal things clustered around it. It appeared there was....blood....scattered around the cars. Celestia then snapped back to the human. "Why is the blood there?", she said. The human rubbed the back of his head and said "It's a long story...." 25 MINUTES LATER "That sounds terrible....", Celestia said. "How do you go on?". Richards merely sighed, then said "To know that one day we might be able to rebuild...". Celestia knew what he meant, but suddenly saw a twinkle in his eyes. "Wait...Isn't the land clean here, and aren't there a lot of resources here?", Richards said. Celestia saw where he was going, and quickly said "Of course, i might be able to provide land for some of your people." Richards smiled, then suddenly gasped as he realized something. "I still have to report back to the NPR!", he shouted. Running to the portal, he stopped and looked back. "You coming?", he said, making Celestia gasp. "Co-com-coming? On such short notice?". Richards merely smiled, then said "Don't worry, I will keep 'ya safe.". As the group walked on, Celestia and the mane 6 looked around themselves with shock and awe. To see such a large civilization to fall to such ruin...one shudders to think of it. In the distance, a giant monolithic stone structure spanned the entire river. Never in her entire immortal life has Celestia seen such a feat of engineering. To make it strong enough to hold the entire river from flowing away. As they approached the dam, Celestia noticed more of the humans wearing what appeared to be armor, holding strange metal sticks. As she walked in, the group was promptly greeted with a chorus of "God damn!'s, "Holy shit!"s, and stares. Richard waved everyone off, stating "Il answer you all later...", then led the group to a cement building. As Richard walked in, he noticed a large crowd growing, and he shook his head in mock annoyance and closed the door. TO BE CONTINUED
