Chapter 2

New Sounds in Ponyville

"I declare my first slumber party, a success!" I said with a big smile. I quickly levitated my ink, quill and my Slumber Party How Too book close to me. "Have fun, check!" I looked over at Applejack and Rarity as they both laughed and smiled together. I watched them both as Rarity guided Applejack around blindfolded.

"Take two steps to your left; umm no my left!" Rarity smiled while pointing her hoof.

"Well which is it?..." Applejack walked forward a couple of steps. "Woaahh!" Applejack walked into a pile of books and they fell on top of her. I watched as Applejack stood up from her mess and looked at Rarity. "That mess is your fault, not mine." Applejack pointed her hoof at Rarity and laughed.

I walked over to my desk and rolled out a piece of paper. I dip my quill in the ink and started to write my weekly letter to Princess Celestia.

"Dear Princess Celestia, It's hard to believe that two ponies who seem to have so little in common could ever get along, but I found out if you embrace each others differences. You just might be surprised to discover a way to be friends after all! Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle." I rolled up the paper and turned to Rarity and Applejack.

"So, who's up for another slumber party tomorrow night?" I watched Applejack and Rarity give each other a smile. They quickly picked up a couple of pillows and threw them at me. I quickly closed my eyes as both pillows hit me in the face. "How about a week from Thursday? Ohh how about two weeks from Saturday?" I watched as they both laughed. "A month from now?" I raised an eyebrow.

Rarity walked up to the window and looked outside. I could see that the storm was starting to break and the sun shine through the window.

"Twilight, darling; I must get going. I have to finish up our dresses for when Princess Celestia pays Ponyville a visit." Rarity said in an impatient tone while walking towards the door.

"Rarity! Wait!... We have to," I watched as Rarity rushed out the door, "Clean up this mess..." I looked over at Applejack.

"Don't you worry Twi; I'll stay and lend you a hoof." Applejack said with confidence. "Wachya need me to do?" Applejack smiled.

"Do you think you could pick up the pillows scattered on the floor?" I asked while giving Applejack a smile. "I've got the books covered."

"Sure thing Twilight!" Applejack quickly got to work.

I started to levitate the books towards me. I quickly organized them in alphabetical order and placed them on the shelves.

"All done Twi." Applejack quickly looked around for any elusive pillows. She then walked up to some leaf statues. "What do you want me to do with these leaf doo dads?"

"Just put them on the shelf next to the bed you slept in upstairs." I pointed my hoof upstairs while continuing to shuffle through the books.

"You got it Twi!" Applejack quickly rushed in picking the statues up.

I levitated the last of the books to the shelves. I got up and walked over to my desk and quickly organized my papers, quills and ink. I heard the door open, so I turned to look.

"Welcome home Spi..." Applejack quickly interrupted me.

"Well howdy Spike!" Applejack said in a loud tone while looking down at Spike from the second floor. "How was your trip to Canterlot?" Applejack asked while she quickly made her way downstairs.

"It was a pain in my scales. All I was asked to do was to rearrange the library." Spike sighed. "It took hours; have you ever rearranged an entire library?"

"I can't say I have," Applejack raised an eyebrow at Spike, "It couldn't have been that bad."

"It was," Spike looked at the ground while walking into the room, "and all I want to do right now is rest."

"I'm sorry to bug you Spike, but can you do me a favor?" I gave Spike a smile. "Could you send this letter to the Princess for me?" I levitated the scroll over to Spike.

"Sure thing Twilight..." Spike grabbed the letter. I watched him as he inhaled; he quickly exhaled and a green flame enveloped the letter. "There you go Twilight."

"Thanks Spike." I gave Spike a smile.

"Well Twi; I best be getting back to the fa..." Applejack was quickly interrupted by a loud booming noise outside. "What in the hay was that?"

"I don't know." I said as all three of us rushed to the closest window.

Applejack and I saw a large fireball falling from the sky. Spike quickly crawled onto my back and looked out the window.

"Wh... What is that Twilight?" Spike asked in a shaky voice.

"I don't know Spike; I've never seen anything like it before." We all continued to watch the thing fall.

As it fell towards the forest; I noticed something. The fireball seemed to arch and slightly turn. It was almost like somepony was controlling it. I then see a small flash of light and some kind of window flew out from the fire. We continued to watch as another object flew away from the fireball. It looked to be like a chair and somepony was on it.

"Somepony is in that chair!" I pointed at the flying chair.

"But that's impossible Twilight." Spike peered over my head and looked at me. "Do you know a pony that can ride on a fireball?" Spike asked in a questionable tone.

"No Spike, I don't." I continued to look outside.

I watched the chair very carefully. Soon after, the chair sprouted a large dome like object above it. It seemed to make it fall much slower. We quickly brought our attention to a large explosion in the forest. A split second later; the windows shook and a loud sound wave rocked my house. I looked back at the falling chair and noticed it seemed to be controlled by the pony on it. Soon after the chair disappeared in the forest.

"Come on, we have to go see if anypony is hurt!" I said in an angry tone while walking back away from the window.

"I don't know about that Twilight," Spike quickly jumped off my back, "Loud noises in the Everfree Forest and big fireballs. I just know that can't be a good thing..." Spike twiddled his claws.

"Come on Spike! Somepony might be hurt!" I said in a slight rage. "We have to make sure everypony is okay."

"Twilight is right Spike," Applejack looked at me, "I'm right behind you Twi."

"Okay, let's go!" Applejack and I quickly ran out the door.

"Ohh... Alright, I'm coming!" Spike yelled. "Wait up for me."

All three of us quickly ran towards the forest. We could see a large plume of black smoke rising from the forest. We all stopped as we heard three loud snaps. We all stood still and looked at the forest for a few seconds.

"What was that Twilight?" Spike asked while jumping on my back.

"I don't know Spike..." I continued to scan the tree line.

"Whatever it was, it was very loud..." Applejack looked into the forest. "Come on Twilight; we best get moving!"

"Right!" I quickly followed Applejack down the path into the Everfree Forest.

As we ran in the forest, we kept an eye out. We didn't know what was hiding in the bushes. We quickly slowed down as we saw something on the ground further down the path. We slowly approached it while keeping an eye out for anything else out here.

"What is it Twilight?" Spike hopped off my back and slowly approached it.

"I don't know Spike. It's not like any pony I have seen before." Applejack and I approached with caution.

"Twilight, it's bleeding!" Spike quickly ran up to the strange creature.

"Is it still alive?" Applejack rushed to its side.

"I don't know..." I watched as Spike started to poke it. "Ahh!" Spike and Applejack quickly jumped back. "It's still alive!"

"Come on Twilight; give me a hoof." Applejack quickly ran up to the creature and tried to pull it by its clothes. "This won't work Twilight. Help me get it on my back."

"Right." I focused and slowly levitated the creature onto Applejacks back.

"Oof!" Applejack buckled under the weight.

"Are you alright Applejack?" I gave Applejack a worried look.

"I'll be fine Twi; it's just a little heavy." Applejack started to walk forward. "We need to get it to Fluttershy's cottage. She will know what to do."

"I don't think so Applejack. Just look at it; it has clothes on." I pointed with my hoof. "It can't be an animal."

"But Twilight..." Spike said as Applejack quickly interrupted.

"She's right Spike; the hospital is closer and it needs help now." Applejack started to walk down the path. "Come on we need to hurry."

Our walk slowly became a quick run. We ran out of the forest and could see a lot of ponies looking on at the forest. We ignored it and continued to run towards the Ponyville Hospital. We quickly burst through the doors and rush into the lobby.

"Doctor!" I looked around for a doctor. "Doctor, we need help!" Nurse Redheart rushed out of one of the rooms.

"What is it Twilight?" Nurse Redheart quickly ran up to Applejack and looked at the strange creature. "Quickly, take it to room twelve! I will get the doctor." Nurse Redheart rushed off upstairs.

Applejack and I quickly ran into room twelve. I quickly pulled the blanket off and gently levitated the creature onto the bed. I turned to the door and see Dr. Stable rush into the room.

"What do we have Twilight!" Dr. Stable rushed over to the bedside. Dr. Stable lifted his glasses with his hoof. "What is it?..."

"We don't know Doctor, but its head is bleeding." I pointed at its head.

"Right! Nurse, I'm going to need your help." Nurse Redheart rushed to his side. "You three need to wait out in the lobby. I will see what I can do for it."

"Alright doctor, please help it." We quickly leave the room and walked into the lobby.

"Do you think it will be okay?" Spike asked while he looked up at me.

"I don't know Spike, but I sure hope so." I looked at Spike and smiled.

We waited in the lobby for about an hour. I jumped up as soon as I saw the door of room twelve open. I watched as Dr. Stable walk towards me with a smile.

"How is it Dr. Stable?" I looked at him with a worried look.

"He'll be just fine." Dr. Stable gave me a smile.

"So it's a he?" Applejack raised an eyebrow. "Howdya know?" Applejack asked.

"This is a hospital, we had to take his clothes off. That being said, our gowns are not long enough. Could you go get one made for him?" Dr. Stable smiled.

"I will doctor." I turned around, but Dr. Stable stopped me.

"No Twilight, I need your help to heal him." Dr. Stable turned to Applejack. "Could you go fetch a larger gown for our guest?"

"You can count on me doc." Applejack adjusted her hat and quickly ran out the door of the lobby.

"Could you come with me Twilight? I'd like you to try and heal him now." Dr. Stable walked towards room twelve.

"Alright doctor." I followed Dr. Stable into the room.

I walked into the room as Nurse Redheart covered the creature with a blanket. I slowly walked up to his bedside and looked at him. He had bandages over his eyes and the top of his head. I turned and looked at Dr. Stable.

"What is wrong with him?" I waited for an answer.

"He has a small laceration on the top right of his head." Dr. Stable pointed at a small patch of blood on the bandage. "He also seemed to have a little nerve damage in his eyes. It's not much, but it will heal just fine with your help." Dr. Stable smiled.

"Alright, I'll do my best." I turned to him and started to cast my magic to heal him. I watched as his head started to glow a gentle purple. I continued for about a minute until I stopped. "I think that's it doctor." I turned around and gave him a smile.

"Alright Twilight, I'm going to need you to return tomorrow." Dr. Stable started to look over some papers. "I think it will be best for one more healing treatment just to be on the safe side."

"Alright..." I looked at the strange creature while he rested in bed.

"He'll be alright Twilight. He's in good hooves." Dr. Stable smiled at me. "Nurse Redheart will be keeping an eye on him, so you have nothing to worry about."

"Alright doctor, I will see you tomorrow then." I walked out of the room and made my way to the lobby. "Let's go Spike, we're going home."

"Okay Twilight." Spike quickly ran up to me and hopped up on my back.

We made our way out of the hospital. The only thing I could do now was wait. I had a lot of questions for him when he wakes up, but all of this had to wait for tomorrow.
