Time for another trip to the old section.

August 25-Lie Swatter

Apple Bloom and her guardians were enjoying a nice breakfast made by Olga. The family is grateful for all of her hard work.

"These pancakes you prepared are delicious." Kevin said. "You did good, Olga."

"Thank you, sir." Olga replied. "I'm very happy that you folks help me clean up after the meals are done."

"Of course. Can't let you do all of the work."

Everybody chuckled as Amy turned to their summer guest. "So, Apple Bloom. Any plans today?"

"There's one game in the old section I have not experienced yet." Apple Bloom answered. "That there game is Lie Swatter."

"Oh. That's right. You played Drawful, Word Spud, Fibbage XL, and You Don't Know Jack 2015. So, Lie Swatter is left."

"That's a fun game." Kevin told the farm kid. "It's a good way to tell a truth from a lie."

This got Apple Bloom interested. "Probably how the Fibbage series got started."

Later, after helping Olga clean up after breakfast, Apple Bloom went to the old section of Jackbox Village. She then sees a greenhouse. Having a thought, she went over to the enclosed area. Apple Bloom sees a red haired girl in pigtails.

"Pardon me, friend." Apple Bloom said. "Is this where Lie Swatter is held?"

"It sure is." The girl answered. "Say, aren't you Apple Bloom of the Cutie Mark Crusaders?"

This made Apple Bloom get nervous. "Yup. I guess so."

"No need to panic. I won't bring up painful memories. My name is Katie. It's good to meet you."

A black haired boy came along to comfort Apple Bloom more. "Anon-a-Miss is dead and buried. So, you have nothing to worry about."

Apple Bloom felt relieved as the three youngsters entered the greenhouse. Inside, Apple Bloom is surprised to see a familiar face. "Miss Cheerlie?"

"Hello, Apple Bloom." Cheerlie said happily. "I guess you're here for a game of Lie Swatter."

"Yup."

Soon, Apple Bloom and five other youngsters are ready as Cheerlie starts things off. "Let's see if you can sort out facts on seven categories. Category one, Karate. There are only five color rank belts."

On their podiums, each player made their guess. Taking out a fly swatter, Cheerlie swatted a yellow fly. It shrieked out "LIE!"

Four of the players answered correctly. Apple Bloom was surprised. "I haven't been to a karate class."

"Maybe I'll take you to one after school starts." The black haired boy said.

Cheerlie spoke again. "The next category is Symbols. The face of Mr. Yuk and his color were chosen by kids."

After the players made their choices. Cheerlie swatted a big blue bug. It shrieked out "TRUTH!" Before it recovered and flew off.

"Kids helped create Mr. Yuk?" One of the players asked.

"Yup." Apple Bloom answered. "That face sticking out his tongue shows that the item he's put on is yucky. Not food to touch."

"That's right. And, that shade of green makes it equally unappealing. Good logic, farm girl."

Apple Bloom was happy being praised. After the first round of questions, a girl with short brown hair has the lead. "I'm going to win this game."

"It's still early, Camilla." Katie told her.

Cheerlie spoke to the players. "You're doing good with various categories. In this next round, all questions are about ONE category: DC and Marvel facts."

Everybody got ready. With fly swatter in hand, Cheerlie asked her first question. "The Hulk wasn't always green."

The crowd made their choices. Cheerlie swatted a green bug. It shrieked out "TRUTH!" It then recovered and flew off.

Three answered correctly. One of the players a boy with blond hair was confused. "What do you mean not always green?"

"The Hulk started off as gray." The black haired boy said. "But, none of the artists can decide what shade of gray to keep. That's why the hulk is green."

"Makes sense. Sorry, Vinnie."

Another fact is given by Cheerlie. "Superman's backwards counterpart, Bizarro, is weakened by green kryptonite."

"That is so true." Camilla stated.

But, when a crushed bug shouted "LIE!", Camilla was surprised. "What?"

"Bizarro is weakened by BLUE kryptonite." Apple Bloom informed.

Camilla hung her head down. "Oh yeah. That's right. Sorry, Apple Bloom."

"Try to figure this out." Cheerlie said. "DC and Marvel worked together on an interesting project."

Four of the players answered LIE. But, when Cheerlie swatted a yellow bug and it shrieked "TRUTH', Those players got shocked.

"DC and Marvel worked together?" Katie gasped. "Really?"

"Yup." Apple Bloom replied. "DC and Marvel created a one time thing called Amalgam comics. This combined their characters into new characters."

"You mean like Superman plus Captain America equals Super Soldier?" Vinnie asked.

"That's right."

Camilla chuckled knowing Apple Bloom is right. "I always did like that aggressive hybrid named Dark Claw."

Minutes later, Cheerlie made an announcement. "The winner of this game of Lie Swatter is...... Katie!"

Everyone cheered Katie's win. Even Apple Bloom clapped for her. "Oh well, I'll take third place."

After everybody left the greenhouse, Katie caught up to Apple Bloom. "Wait up a minute."

Apple Bloom saw Katie catch up. "What's wrong?"

"Where you're from, do you walk around barefoot around your farmland home?'

"I do sometimes." Apple Bloom answered. "Especially when I have my overalls on."

"I have a pair of overalls too. I like that farmer type attire."

This made Apple Bloom blush. Katie then asked for a favor. "Do you think we can get together during weekends?"

"Sounds like a good idea." Apple Bloom replied. "Maybe I'll introduce you to my friends, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo."

"Cool. Let's get together again sometime."

Katie left for her home. Apple Bloom felt happy, believing that she made a new friend. Later, she looked at her map of Jackbox Village. With marks indicating which games she went into, the farm girl is learning little by little about the area. She wrote down facts about the village in a notebook.

"If I do come back during the school year," Apple Bloom said to herself, "At least I know what I'm getting into."

After putting down her notebook, Apple Bloom laid down on her bed and dozed off.
