Author's Note

It's time for the former queen of the Changelings to connect with nature. And, Fluttershy is her guide.

A Forest Full of Kindness

The sun rises in Sweet Apple Acres. Inside the guest room, Chrysalis sleeps peacefully until the sound of a rooster woke her. Startled, she slowly wakes up and looks out the window.

"So, this is what's it's like to wake up at the crack of dawn." Chrysalis said. "These farm folks have a very busy life."

Later, Chrysalis finds herself back at the little house she was given. Celestia picked her up and took her back home. Inside her living room, she studies the pictures of the Humane Seven.

"That breakfast I had with the Apple Family was so good." Chrysalis hummed happily. "Granny Smith must give me those recipes for the meals she prepares."

After putting the picture of Applejack away, she then makes her decision. "I think I'll visit Fluttershy. Her pony persona displays Kindness, another Element of Harmony. And, like the pony in Equestria, this young lady loves nature."

After dressing in a teal flannel shirt, denim shorts, and her brown boots, Chrysalis straps on a backpack and puts a smartphone Luna gave her on her bed.

"I probably don't need my phone while enjoying nature." Chrysalis proudly said. "But, I did pack a camera and a notebook to write down what I see."

As soon as she walks out the door and locks it up, Fluttershy was there to greet her.

"Good morning, Miss Chrysalis." Fluttershy said warmly.

"Oh! Hello, Fluttershy." Chrysalis gasped. "I was just coming to meet you."

"I was told where you're staying, and save you the trouble. Are you ready for a walk in the woods?"

"As ready as I'll ever be. Lead the way."

Fluttershy lead the humanized changeling to a forest near her house. Chrysalis was in awe at the sight of this atmosphere.

"You sure like exploring places like this." Chrysalis said. "Isn't that right?"

"I do indeed." Fluttershy replied. "Not many people in big cities often know places like this exist."

"True. I noticed that most folks are into these hi tech gadgets these days. Computers, video game systems, Hi fi TV sets, and the internet."

"Nothing wrong with that. But, sometimes it's best to unplug and enjoy what nature offers."

Chrysalis took in what Fluttershy said. This forest area reminds me of Everfree Forest. Thankfully, without those Poison Joke flowers.

Suddenly, the girls heard a loud squawk. They saw a bald eagle perched on a nest in the trees. Taking out her camera, Chrysalis took a picture of this majestic bird. She even took a picture of the eagle as it flew in the sky.

"The bald eagle is one of the most majestic birds of all time." Fluttershy preached.

"I agree to that." Chrysalis added.

As the girls continue their travels, Chrysalis continued to take pictures. She quietly took a picture of a deer and her fawn. Fluttershy is impressed with her companion adjusting to her surroundings. They soon stopped by a stream to relax after their hike.

"How are you enjoying this experience?" Fluttershy asked.

"Very relaxing." Chrysalis answered. "Places like this has a lot of pleasant surprises. And hopefully, I took some good pictures of what I saw."

Fluttershy studies the pictures on the screen of the camera. "You have a good eye for the wonders of nature, Chrysalis."

"Aw. Thank you." Chrysalis replied while blushing. "Sometimes I can see things you probably haven't."

"Like that family of skunks you saw. I hope you were quiet when approaching them."

"Don't worry about me. I know when to keep my distance."

Soon, they see a green skinned girl with orange braided hair come by. She has on a pink shirt and blue bib overalls. And, she carries a pair of sandals.

"Who's this character?" Chrysalis wondered.

"That's my friend: Tree Hugger." Fluttershy replied.

"Tree Hugger, huh? Sounds like a hippie chick."

"I'll take that as a compliment." Tree Hugger said as she approached the duo. "In fact, I love my hippie lifestyle. It's all about peace and love."

The two girls hugged each other. Chrysalis looks on and feels a bit of warmth in her heart.

"I like this look you're sporting." Fluttershy commented. "I hear that overalls are coming back in style."

"Totally." Tree Hugger replied. "I should thank Applejack for giving me these overalls. They fit great."

Chrysalis came into the conversation. "Applejack and her family are wholesome, all right. I spent the day with them yesterday."

"No kidding? Tell me all about it."

Chrysalis soon told Fluttershy and Tree Hugger about her day at Sweet Apple Acres. Later, as the sun was setting, Fluttershy escorted Chrysalis back home.

"Thank you for joining me in my nature hike." Fluttershy said.

"It's my pleasure." Chrysalis replied. "Seeing the sights in those woods was very relaxing. And, hanging out with Tree Hugger was a lot of fun."

"Most folks like Tree Hugger are often misunderstood just because she's different. But, if you open up a little, you'll learn more about these kinds of folks."

"I reckon you're right. I can't wait to develop these pictures I took."

"I'll look forward to see those pictures."

Chrysalis and Fluttershy hugged each other. This leaves a feeling of peace within the former queen of the Changelings.

So, this is what it's like to have a friend. Chrysalis thought. It doesn't really feel that bad.

Fluttershy soon walked back to her house where she hosted a slumber party with her friends.

"How was your day with Chrysalis, Fluttershy?" Sunset Shimmer asked.

"Very interesting." Fluttershy replied. "She was opened to the forest and it's wonders. No problems at all."

"I don't know." Twilight interrupted. "From what my princess counterpart told me, Chrysalis is one of the most dangerous villains in Equestria."

"Didn't seem so when she visited me." Applejack said.

"I have to agree with AJ." Rainbow Dash said. "Maybe this visit to our world is what that Changeling needed to turn her life around."

"Dash is right." Sunset added. "It helped me after all."

Meanwhile in Chrysalis' house, the visitor vegged out on her couch to relax before bed. "That's two I visited. I wonder who I'll befriend next."
