Two former bad guys meet up to discuss how they came back from their villainous past.

Stories about the Dark Past

Chrysalis lioked at herself in the mirror. She's wearing the outfit that she came in this world with.

"To think, this all happened when Princess Twilight gave me a chance for redemption." Chrysalis said to herself. "Ever since I came here, I was learning about harmony from the human versions of the Mane Six. Even Twilight herself."

Chrysalis soon toasted a bagel and buttered it. After sitting down and having the bagel with some orange juice, she soon started to have feelings about herself.

"I always thought pure love and friendship was a lot of nonsense." Chrysalis thought. "But, I feel it's not. I'm starting to understand what harmony means."

After cleaning off her table and countertop, Chrysalis stepped outside with one more stop to make. "The last person to learn harmony from is Sunset Shimmer. From what Princess Twilight told me, she's a different case than mine."

Chrysalis walked down to a coffee place to just relax and think of how to approach her next path to redemption. Soon, Sunset Shimmer walks in, ready to order one of her favorite beverages. Just then, she sees the visitor and went over to her.

"So, the rumors are true." Sunset said. "The fallen Changeling monarch is residing her in Canterlot."

"Oh my." Chrysalis gasped. "You know about me?"

"Yup. From my friend from Equestria. She told me that she sent you here to learn about harmony, hoping you'll accept friendship."

"It's true. And, I have been learning a lot. These girls I've been hanging out with have been great guides."

"It took me a long time though. Let's head for my place, then we'll talk."

Soon, Chrysalis was escorted to Sunset's apartment. And, she's impressed.

"Nice digs." Chrysalis said.

"Thanks." Sunset replied. "But, there are times I wished I learned of friendship when I first came here."

"Is that so? Please tell me your story."

Sunset soon told Chrysalis her sad back story. "I was a very hopeful unicorn under Princess Celestia. But, I was too impatient to learn strong magic. Thinking Celestia was just holding me back, I went through the mirror which I found in Canterlot Castle, and lived a life of bitterness."

"Sounds like you've become like a High School bully." Chrysalis figured.

"That's putting it mildly." Sunset continued. "When I heard that Twilight Sparkle became a princess, I was filled with rage. I sneaked back to Equestria, and disrupted the coronation. I stole the crown and escaped. She followed me to get the crown back.

During an event called the Fall Formal, I tapped into the magic of that crown, and became a monster."

"Yow! That's a nightmare!"

"It is. But, Twilight and the human versions of her Equestrian friends used the magic of harmony to remove the darkness within me. After Twilight and her crown returned to Equestria, I was working hard to redeem myself. Despite others making me feel like I should be punished for good, I rose from my past."

"Give me a few examples."

"Well, I helped my new friends and Twilight strike down the legendary sirens, disguised as a mean girl group. I helped Twilight's human counterpart when she got effected by dark magic."

"Oh yes. Sci-Twi told me that story."

After making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Sunset decided to ask Chrysalis about her past. "So, why were you sent here. I heard you tried to disrupt the wedding between Twilight's brother: Shining Armor, and Cadence. But, I think there's more than that."

Chrysalis soon got sad. "I did something I now regret. After the wedding, my Changelings and I wanted revenge. So, without anybody knowing, we secretly captured those who ruined my plans. Celestia, Luna, the Mane Six, Spike, and the Royal Family of the Crystal Empire. This includes Baby Flurry Heart."

This shocked Sunset to the core. "Oh my goodness! That was one of the most evil plans any villain planned."

"You're right about that." Chrysalis replied. "A group of former bad guys lead by Starlight Glimmer went to our hive to rescue their friends. We Changelings struck hard. Despite Trixie and Discord being captured, Starlight and Thorax stood up to us. Suddenly, Thorax went through an amazing transformation."

"Sounds like Thorax knows what friendship is all about."

"I guess he did. Realizing I had the wrong idea, the other Changelings did the same thing. The Changelings became more colorful, and all of the prisoners were free. After everything was done, Starlight Glimmer offered me a chance to change too. She figured it's time for me to accept true love and pure friendship.

But, I was so furious, I refused her offer and left the area. I guess the darkness within me wants to stay delusional."

Chrysalis hung her head low and started to cry. Sunset approached her and gave her a hug.

"Hey, don't cry." Sunset said warmly. "That was then, this is now. We both rose from the darkness of our past. I'm sure you'll get back to Equestria and everyone will forgive you."

"You think so?" Chrysalis asked as she wipes the tears from her eyes.

"I know so."

This filled Chrysalis with hope. Later that day, she hung out with Sunset and the other girls. She watched them practice their music for a concert coming up.

"I never knew these girls can play music this good." Chrysalis said to herself. "Their little group, the Rainbooms, must be loved for their friendship."

Chrysalis watched the girls continue their practice. What the former Changeling Queen doesn't know is that her body gave off a faint glow. It's as if the meaning of friendship is coming through. Later that day, dressing in her nightgown, Chrysalis went to sleep. The next day, she plans to return to Equestria to tell Twilight and her friends what she learned.

The rays of dawn pierced through the window. Chrysalis slowly woke up. She soon discovered that her skin looked less black. After going to the fridge and having a sip of some bottled water, she went to the bathroom to shower up. She soon discovered something that would change her for good. "Sweet Celestia!"
