Six outcast ponies join together to help fight, and hopefully win, the war against King Sombra and the Crystal Empire.

Obsidian Knight arrives at the Pie Family Farm in order to apply for a job. While working on the rock farm, he learns a lot, and experiences new things, including strange feelings for the youngest Pie: Marble Pie.
