Nightshade Valentine is one of Luna's top guards and a close friend of Celestia, he's got an amazing marefriend and a large family estate on the outskirts of Ponyville. Basically, he's living a dream for most ponies.

Nightshade is used to being called on for dealing with Celestia and Luna's problems that fall slightly outside of the law, but there's something different about this job. Celestia isisted on him bringing a rookie and this isn't a normal witch hunt..
