G-Force: The Planet of the Ponies
Chapter 1: Briefing
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIn a small house far away from the bustling city, there lived a seemingly ordinary teenager, named Ken. Although he acts ordinarily like a teenager in the city, he is in fact a member and leader of the superhero science ninja team known as Gatchaman, or as commonly known, G-Force, judging by the small watch-like device strapped in his hand with the letter "G" implemented on the device's face.
This team is a group of young teenagers whose goal is to protect the planet Earth from an intergalactic terrorist organization known as Galactor, who, for thousands of years, has attempted to take complete control of the planet's natural resources. Galactor, having been very low profile, managed to slip past any intelligence agency and in the process create destructive war machines that were intended to catch Earth's inhabitants by surprise and stage spectacular and destructive attacks on major cities. Despite these repeated attacks, they were increasingly frustrated by the continued intervention of G-Force, who were sent to investigate and combat the organization.
But now, Galactor hasn't attacked the planet for days, and it seems the organization is taking a rest from doing assaults on Earth, for now at least.
Ken was in the middle of reading a book on how to use airplanes, when suddenly his watch-like device went off. He took notice, stopped reading, and lifted up his device. A flashing red light could only mean one thing: somebody was calling
Ken wasted no time and took the call, "G1 speaking." The call was from Dr. Nambu, board member of the International Science Organization and supervisor of G-Force,
"Ken, this is Dr. Nambu. I want you and G-Force all in the Phoenix. I have a mission for all of you."
Ken stood up from the chair. "Got it, sir."
After receiving his orders, the young teenage rushed out of the house and to his plane in a small runway. After the starting up the engine and reaching the maximum speed, he lifts his plane off the runway and, after a few spiral tricks around the small airport, lifts up his arm in the right gesture and activates the device's special power.
"G-Force! Transfooooorm!"
With a huge flash from the watch, Ken underwent a spectacular transformation. His plane morphed into a jet-like aerial vehicle, thrusters formed on the back side of its tail, and Ken's numbered sports jersey turned into a white battle uniform styled after an eagle, with a cape on his back. Ken had turned into Ken the Eagle.
After the transformation, he activated his thrusters to speed the jet up, eventually noticing G-Force's legendary ship, the God Phoenix, right above him.
Ken wasted no time and immediately landed in the small docking bay of the Phoenix. Inside the large ship was the main base of operation for the team, with a large view screen serving as the cockpit. Radars, buttons, accelerators, and the lever responsible for enabling the Phoenix to "Firebird Mode", were all implanted in the pilot's console. The pilot in question is team member G-5, a fisherman's son named Rocky.
Rocky noticed Ken entering the room and greeted him. "You made it just in time, Ken," Rocky applauded, "Everybody else has begun to arrive."
At the same time, other members of G-Force began closing in on the Phoenix as well. Joe the Condor, G-Force's second-in-command and Dr. Nambu's adopted son, had arrived at the Phoenix with his lavish race car just after the ship lifted off from underwater. June the Swan, G-Force's motorcycle expert, and Jimmy the Swallow, an avid all-terrain driver, had also boarded the Phoenix before lift-off, and now the entire team was in the ship's cockpit.
Suddenly, one of the screens on the console turned on, and a doctor appeared on the screen. It was Dr. Nambu, and he had a serious look as if Galactor had attacked the planet, even though they so far had no attacks this day.
"Greetings, G-Force." Dr. Nambu spoke to the team, "Ryu has recently installed a new component on your ship."
"A new component?" Ken asked, "What new component?"
Dr. Nambu explained the new component, "It is something you will need for your next mission," He showed a picture of the new component on their ship. "I call it the Interdimensional transporter. This component will send you and other spacecraft to another dimension elsewhere in the galaxy. It takes almost a week for it to recharge to full power so you must be careful when you use it to go to another dimension, because you will be stranded there for a week!"
Joe was confused about this component and asked, "Why would you tell Rocky to install an unneeded component that would potentially make us stranded in the universe?"
Ken scolded Joe for his skepticism, "Joe, we're smart enough to know that the component is not to be used at any time. We will use if the need for the component is necessary!" Joe, despite being reluctant, nodded with approval. "Fine!"
Dr. Nambu continued with his briefing, "You will be using this device for this particular mission. The International Science Organization has gathered some intelligence that Galactor has now planned attacks on an anonymous star system we are unable to find. We are not sure what specific system they are targeting, nor do we know how they are going to get to that system."
The team had questionable looks on their faces before Jimmy gulped and spoke out, "Is Galactor expanding their sphere of influence to the entire galaxy? Does he want all of the planets' natural resources?"
"It seems so," Dr. Nambu responded, "but we don't have enough evidence to back that claim up. We need to investigate the matter further."
"Geez, it takes so much time for you guys to investigate everything," the obnoxious Rocky complained.
"You will use the component sooner or later, but now I all want you to go on your patrol duties. Nambu out."
After Nambu finished his briefing, the screen turned off.
