Chapter 2: A Normal Night in Equestria...or is it?

Meanwhile, somewhere in the galaxy, in a star system far, far away from the solar system, there was a very similar system with a very similar planet like Earth, except unlike Earth, this planet had very different landscape: mountains dominated the earth-like land, and the plates were so stable that nearly no land broke apart from each other. It seemed like this was a perfect planet that had a perfect number of species like on Earth.

That wasn't really the case.

Inhabiting this planet were a various array of unfamiliar and mythological creatures that many on Earth had heard about in folk tales: dragons, griffins, sea serpents. The most prevalent and common species that dominated much of these lands were the same species that the humans on Earth had used for various purposes: horses. Unlike the horses on Earth, however, these horses were largely intelligent. They could speak like humans, act like humans, and even do nearly all the same abilities humans could do! What made them very special, however, was their separation of races that had distinguished them each other.

One of these horses races had wings and could fly anywhere in the planet at the greatest speed, what humans call them on Earth are "pegasi". Contrast to popular belief, the size of the pegasi didn't matter for their ability to fly, and as a result they could achieve a maximum velocity enough to set off a sonic boom! However, only a few of these pegasi had ever achieved this goal, and those who could had a great amount of popularity across the planet.

The other race are horses who had magical sharp horns above their head, what humans on Earth call "unicorns". These unicorns had the ability to use a wide array of spells that not even the smartest sorcerer on Earth could pull off. These spells ranged from simple tasks humans could achieve with their own hands, to spells not even a tough guy could accomplish, like carrying a large boulder. However, these spells were not always guaranteed to be used for good, and as a result had several occasions where it caused a great amount of trouble, with some nearly destroying the entire planet. Unicorns carefully researched their magic and began thinking smarter about it as a result.

The area that was dominated by these horses, called ponies, was a massive kingdom called Equestria. It was comprised of many cities scattered all across the landscape, including a village surrounded by the Buffalo territory. The main capital of this kingdom was a city built on one of Equestria's tallest mountains, a city called Canterlot. In this city lies the monarchy of Equestria, a dual monarchy led by to creatures called Pegasus unicorns: Princess Celestia, a bright white mare who served as Princess of the Day, and her younger sister, Princess Luna, a dark blue mare who served as Princess of the Night. Judging by the symbols they had on their flanks, known as "cutie marks", their duty was to raise their correspondent stars each night and day. For Celestia, it was the Sun, and for Luna, it was the moon.

It was a dark, cold night. The night sky was beautifully scattered with stars and constellations. The full moon was flashing with great luminosity, enough for even the smallest filly in Ponyville to see and smile at the beautiful star. It seemed as if everyone in Equestria could just sit back, smile, and enjoy the night sky as early as they could, thanking Luna for the stars.

In Canterlot, the two princesses of Equestria were both enjoying the night sky outside the castle's main deck, where the telescope was. Celestia had a wing on her little sister, who shared a quick nuzzle with her. They sat back and watched the beautiful sky as the stars brightened with beauty.

It was quiet for a while before Luna frowned and asked, "Tia?"

Celestia lifted her wing and folded it as she heard her sister ask her a question, "Yes, little sister?"

"Are we truly alone in the universe?"

"Hmmm....," Celestia thought, "What do you mean by that? Is there something wrong?"

Luna looked down, still frowning, and told her sister, "Well, I've been getting rumors from my guards that.....well.......some terrorist group in the galaxy wants to take over the universe."

"What? Now who told you that?" Celestia asked, completely puzzled.

"I don't know," Luna continued, "One of my guards just told me about that. He's says he's very good in astronomy and says that we aren't alone in the galaxy. It took him days to observe the galaxy with his telescope, and he concluded that there is indeed some organization want to control us all." She began to shiver in fear and tears began to form in her eyes.

Celestia sighed in disgust. She had heard that Luna had been having bad dreams of the universe being enslaved by a group who's goal was to deplete the galaxy of its resources. The older princess grew worried that her little sister had begun believing that these revelations were true and that Equestria would be destroyed. The fallout from this enslavement would have been far-reaching for the planet.

Celestia hugged her sister closer with her wings and nuzzled the younger sister in an attempt to comfort. "Luna," she whispered, "you need to remember that not all the things you hear and see are true. You've got to remember that." Luna looked at her sister, with tears still in her eyes and her frown still visible. "It's very difficult to tell what's the difference between fiction and non-fiction, but as long as you continue knowing that not everything is true, I am sure that guard will be wrong."

Luna tears began to fade away, and her frown slowly began turning into a small smile, comforted by her sister's words.

But their attention soon faded to the night sky, when suddenly, a massive flash appeared in the bright sky. The princesses felt this flash originated from the open space rather than the atmosphere. A rumbling explosion could be heard from the sky.

"W-what's that?!" Luna shouted.

The two princesses exchanged puzzling looks as the flash subsided. Nothing came out from the flash, but it certainly caught them by surprise.

"I...I had nothing to do with that! I swear!," Luna pleaded to Celestia.

"Don't worry. I know you didn't," Celestia assured her, "that flash might have been from the space and not the sky."

Suddenly, a guard burst into the deck and shouted, "Your highnesses! Come quick! There's a commotion going on outside!"

The princesses stood firm and nodded to each other. "We'll get right on it, captain!" Celestia said.

Without another word, the guard and two princesses left the deck and back into the castle.
