G-Force: The Planet of the Ponies
Chapter 4: Panic in the Galaxy
Previous ChapterThat same night, Ken was in the middle of his patrol around the Earth when suddenly, a massive flash above the atmosphere covered the night sky. He was temporarily blinded yet he couldn't believe what just happened.
"What the-?!"
The flash illuminated the entire sky, as if the moon had suddenly began to impact the planet. Ken closed his eyes for a few minutes before opening them up again, only to look down below and see hundreds of civilians in the city panicking and fleeing.
Ken had a stunned look on his face as he continued flying above the city. This is unbelievable, he thought, What could have possibly caused a massive supernova above the sky?
His train of thought was cut by the beeping of his communications device on his wrist. He wasted no time and picked up the call, "G-1 here."
Dr. Nambu's voice was heard, "Ken, this is Dr. Nambu. That big flash from the skies is causing a lot of disturbance in the planet Earth."
"Could it have been some big supernova?" Ken asked.
"The flash was too bright to be a supernova," Nambu replied, "It's possible something, or someone, caused that explosion. I want you to gather up G-Force and come to our secret base at once!"
"Got it!"
Without another word, Ken fled the city to get the rest of the crew.
Near the city was an ordinary rocky canyon with a waterfall perched on the canyon's peak. Actually, this canyon wasn't that ordinary. A building camouflaged with the canyon's red clay color served as G-Force's secret base. It was camouflaged to ensure that nobody, not even Dr. Nambu's own International Science Organization, could find it. Both Nambu and G-Force were presently inside.
Inside this building was a room the size of a usual conference room, except it had a huge computer screen with a complicated control console beyond explanation. The team members were sitting on the chairs of the long table, while Dr. Nambu stood up to explain to G-Force the situation.
"I studied the flash a little closer," Nambu analyzed, "and I can tell that this was no supernova. It appears that the flash came from a pair of vaccine missiles that contained an extremely harsh amount of sunlight.
"Enough to blind the victim instantly?" Jimmy asked.
"Exactly, Jimmy. These missiles did not come from Earth because nobody on this planet has the technology to capture blinding sunlight from the Sun and use it as weapon. There had to have been some warship somewhere in the galaxy." Nambu rubbed his chin in a thinking mood as he explained.
"And I thought sunlight could only blind the victim during an eclipse! Heck, we humans keep getting smarter and smarter and we end up with issues like this," Rocky complained. He barely managed to escape the blinding flash while he was in the God Phoenix during patrol, which may explain his obnoxious mood.
"Something tells me this is the work of Galactor! I'm sure they had something to do with this!" Joe said in a rage. He was only a young child when his parents, who worked for Galactor, were killed by their thugs when they tried to leave the organization. Since then he's vowed revenge against Galactor for his parents' deaths.
"We don't know, Joe, but I can tell this phenomenon isn't only affecting Earth, it's also affecting the entire galaxy and-"
"The entire galaxy?," June quite rudely cut him off, "You mean other planets around the universe saw this?"
"I don't really know, June, but I can tell the event will cause an intergalactic catastrophe unless we know more about this," Nambu spoke as he tried to explain the situation clearly.
"Your assignment now is to go into the universe and investigate this matter. It's probable that Galactor may be up to something. In addition, your time component will most likely be useful for this mission." He bowed his head before he shouted, "G-Force, you leave at once for the Earth's atmosphere!"
G-Force all shouted, "Roger!"
The team rushed to the God Phoenix outside, and once Rocky took the pilot's seat in the ship, its engines ignited and the ship lifted off as it went to break free from the Earth's atmosphere and into the galaxy.
Meanwhile, in Equestria, things were even grimmer. Canterlot's astronomers had a difficult time studying what had happened above the skies of their planet, and ponies from all over the kingdom were trotting on the streets, sending the kingdom to a state of panic. The worst hit from the panic was Canterlot itself, where thousands of ponies sought refuge inside the city's castle, and many guards complained that the castle could not hold as many ponies as it possibly can.
At the castle's main hall, the royal princesses Celestia and Luna were hearing all the chaos going on in the room below them. They realized that the situation was much more serious than they originally thought. They couldn't believe how much panic the bright flash from the skies had caused.
The castle's doctors came into the hall and explained to them the situation, "At least 400 of the ponies were instantly blinded by the flash," one of the doctors said, "but at least 670 more were blinded after the flash subsided."
The princesses jaws fell after the report, but the other doctor assured them, "The blindness effects are most likely to fade by the next few hours."
"There's got to be something behind this. You two go back down stairs and check on the refugees. My sister and I will investigate."
The doctors bowed their heads before leaving back down stairs.
Princess Celestia and Luna went back outside to the main deck, watching the chaos outside unfold. The princesses had never experienced an event like this before, and they were consequently unprepared for the event.
Fear began to build inside Luna. She felt that what the guard told her was true and that a intergalactic organization was indeed planning to assault the entire universe, and that the giant flash was just the beginning.
She began to cry.
Celestia took notice and exchanged a worried look, "Luna? What's wrong?"
Tears began to flow down from her eyes and to the ground as her heart began to ache. "Tia, he-he's right! We're all doomed!"
"Luna..."
"That giant flash is only the beginning! The organization is going to kill us all!"
Celestia placed a hoof on Luna's back and hugged her with her wing, trying to comfort her. "Luna, we need more proof. You can't just think that some organization's going to get rid of us just because of a big flash. We need more information."
Luna stopped crying and sniffled, turning her face to her sister. "But...but how?"
Celestia began thinking, then suddenly the thought of her most faithful student and recently coronated princess appeared in her mind.
Twilight.....
