Rarity's Lament

History of Horse Mart

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Horse-Mart is a chain that is owned by the Horse Family, their pedigree vast and clean. They have stores open at countless locations in Equestria, and the people that work there often can't get any better of a job because of the stigma resulting from working there. The reason that there is a stigma is because the uniforms they have to wear are really uncomfortable and unflattering. They're hard to clean with other clothes because the dye comes out. It's really a very annoying place to work, I would not recommend it.

Horse Mart is locally owned and operated by Sam Horseton, the original founder of this particular location. He began this store in his childhood in order to support his horse family. When he discovered it worked, he was happy. His store was open, and his family was overjoyous. There was an outpouring of support from the locals. Not! It turns out that horses actually don't like Horse-Mart. Who knew? How about that.

They carry the Playstation Hoof, oats, and sometimes the Hay U, but they sell out FAST! If you wanna get your hands on one of these babies, you better get a ticket, and I'm not talking about a parking violation here (or a speeding ticket (please drive safe, ya'll!)), but you better get a ticket to get in line for Hay U.

Rarity once shopped at a HorseMart and had the worst experience. She walked in and was immediately bothered by a poor person who was rude and aggressive with her. She needed to just find some "Cherry Coat." (Coke!)

She spent the entire time there being lost because the aisles are not clearly marked. The only reason she gives it any credit is because Horse Mart does frequently have the lowest prices.  For example, she recently ordered a TV from the store through the site-to-store pick up (please note the pick up section is in the very back of the store), and the price of the TV was significantly lower than the competitors.

The worst part is the complete lack of customer service.  One time she went in there and cashier rang up all my purchases while never looking at me and talking to her buddies. Then Rarity sat there, ready to pay while she continued gabbing until one of her friends finally noticed me glaring and pissed and nudged her to look back over to me. She didn't even utter an apology for making her wait.

The store used to not be unionized, and then it was for a little while, but then Mr. Horseton put a stop to it. Rarity is also against the fact that there can be no unions at Horsemart, even though her own Rarity's Boutique contained many unions of its own. Horse-Mart employees are disallowed from organizing or even rallying against the Horse-mart corporate higher-ups, so they often just don't bother to do it and that's another reason why it's not a great store.

So to sum things up, Rarity is furious that her boutique has been replaced by such a shabby and dirty store she has never had a good day in. "I need to shut that place down, darling!" she said, to nobody in particular, but you feel a twinge in your heart that the message was meant for you! You turn to her and say, I'll be sure to get that done for
