What keeps Artyom going?

His world is blank and lifeless, like his existence. He is condemned to his blank hell without a trace of his past. Years, months, weeks, all go by and all of which are irrelevant as not even the end of his time can save him.

What is it that keeps him sane in a senseless world? Perhaps it's his own form of insanity that keeps him driven for something better. Or, perhaps it's an equally out of place word for his life. Hope. A word that he remembers only when he can escape his hell to a wondrous patch of forestry that may as well be a result of his own madness.

As Artyom's latest trip to the forest that keeps his hope alive, goes better than expected, he gets to see just how far his Insanity might take him.
