Chapter three: dual

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

We trotted out side of the tree house. I don't know what it is, but this tree seems to be more interesting to me than the owner.

Come on Glass Ass, focus on miss sparkles over here, not the tree.

She led me to an area behind the house that didn't have any houses or buildings around it. The ground was earthy as of the area around that was covered with grass. A perfect place for us to ravish the land without harming anything important. I can only assume that we would ravish the land. I am really hoping that she can ravish the land. Celestia better of taught her some ravishing spells. That kinda came out wrong.

"You stand over there by that tree and I will stand at the opposite end by that mushroom. Is this a good area?" She asked me. I felt like she had done this before. I can't really doubt it can I.

"Yeah, this is perfect. Nice open area. Who starts first?" We both looked over at each other waiting for someone to do something. We stared for about two minutes before we realised that nopony was going to do anything.

She spoke first, I was ready to counter act anything she would throw at me, so I joilted with readiness but did not need to. "We could flip horns or wings. I have a few bits in my saddle bags." The most efficient way to find out who goes first.

I hadn't even noticed that she had the bags on. I still have mine on too. I guess she wanted to even the odds. She doesn't know what's in here. She probably thinks that I have tricks in here. She would be right in her assumption.

"I call wings. I like wings. Sometimes I wish I had them to know what it is like to fly but then I would have never got the camera. That would suck because my parents would have had to make another child and I would be cast down upon. My brother or sister would probably tease me for not getting to be the holder. Life would have been-"

"Um. Excuse me. But uh, what are you talking about? I would like to get started. I have alot of work to do when this is over." She stopped me. Thank goodness, I was giving away information that should only be told to my wife and children.

"Duh. Buh. Uh... Sorry. I get a little carried away sometimes. Anyway, I choose wings. Come on flip. Flip. Lets go." Flip! I am digging myself a grave again. Though even on a rant, I still chose. Everypony knows that wings always lose.

"Okay." She said as she dug into her saddle bags to get a bit. I can tell that I look crazy. She had rolled her eyes before she looked away.

She pulled out a shiny bit from her bag and flipped it into the air. She looked up to see it flip and as it fell, you could feel the tension in the air. It hit the ground and bounced around until it ultimately ended up on, who would have guessed, wings.

Flip! I'm not sure where to start. I could throw a ball at her while it is invisible. Yeah, yeah. Start with something simple. Then slowly work your way onto harder spells. I just don't want to have to use experimental spells. Lets just hope they work if I do.

I walked back slowly to my spot as I reached into my bag of mystical wimsy and pulled out the ball, making sure that she could see it come out. When I got to my spot, I turned around and held the ball into the gleaming sun light. I tried to make it look as cool as I could.

"Show me what you got, miss Sparkles." I said in a sly tone just before I slammed the ball into the ground, Pulling my hoof up to show that the ball was gone.

BONK! The ball appeared above her out of thin air and bounced into her head. The ball then bounced away and fell into a hole.

"Gahh! What the? Oh. Nice one." She wasn't expecting that. Not much but it can really confuse most other ponies. "Try this." She said as her horn glowed.

Here it comes! She pulled the ball out of the hole and moved it over my head. I would expect a little more but what can you do. Instead of getting hit by a small ball, I was suddenly pelted by twenty of the things. Duplication. Not to bad. I myself am not the best at it, but if she loses, maybe she can teach me a little more at that.

"Hrmph. That was a little unexpected" I told to her as I secretly turned one of the balls invisible as they bounced away, hoping she wouldn't notice the disappearance. Another cool thing about invisibility is that I can make it so that my horn doesn't have any glow. When I first tried to mess with ponies, I was caught because of my glow, so I worked out how to make it disapear. The trick is that you never give permission for the glow to... well... glow. "But be aware, for expectations can decieve the brightest of ponies."

I figured that I would use one of the very first spells that I have ever learned on her. My dad taught me this one. I grew the ball to be much more massive and chucked it at her head. directly onto the horn, but right before, I gave the ball light to scare her, making sure that there was not enough time for her to react.

POP! The ball exploded with a much louder pop than I had anticipated. "Eeeee! Sweet celestia! You nearly gave me a heart attack! *hufff huff* Wow. That came out of nowhere. How did you? Never mind. That's for you to teach me when you lose."

That was when her horn began to glow. This wasn't just any normal spell. She was standing there, focusing all her might on this spell. I think I might have to step up my game. She was gripping the ground with her hooves. Not quite sure how. She was digging into the ground a little to stable herself. That is when the overglow appeared. Things are getting pretty intense. I'm starting to believe that she might move the sun or cause an earthquake. Her eyes are closed. She is starting to scare me. I lose focus of her for a moment when I realise that her horn is encased with over glow and the ground around her is rumbling; rocks and dirt clumps rising from the ground. earthquake maybe?

Suddenly, it feels like time has stopped and her eyes open. There is no pupil or color or anything. I think that she has gone into god mode. Welp, life has been pretty good so far, though the camera may be lost and my ancestors lives will have been for nothing. I'm sorry to have disapointed.

A beam of pure magic shoots straight at me. My life flashes before my eyes. I close them and wait for my impending doom.

Nothing. I here nothing. There is no sound. No smell. No fealing. I think that I have died. Kind of sucks. Now I will be pestered by my ancestors for the rest of eternity. Heaven, My glass ass. All I see is white cloud. As I walk along, I realise what I had to look forward to in life. A family. Happiness.

Friends. For all my life, I have only known my own family. My mother and father. This twilight sparkle was my gateway. A stairwell to friendship and love. At least that was what I thought. That pony takes friendly duals way too far. Maybe it seemed like I was threatening her.

Hey! I'm just some random pony walking in with out a cutie mark! Don't mind me, I just want to have a friendly battle of strength and power!

I can see where that would be taken the wrong way.

So this is death. Beep! Kind of lonely. Beep! Just me and some clouds. Beep! I could finally get the chance to Beep! have some time to get carried away. Beep!

What is that damn beeping?!? Beep! Wait. That sounds an awful lot like a heart rate monitor. Beep! Oh my glob. Beep! I'm alive! Beep! Just... Beep! Unconscious. Beep! Wake. Beep! Up. Beep!

"Doctor! His heart rate is going alot faster!" I heard a voice. It's Sparkles! I'm going to kill her when I get up.

*Loud gasp* *Huff Huff* I sat up in my bed, gasping for air. "Duh! Buh! Guh!" I started with exasperation while still trying to breathe. "Sparkles! I'm... Going... To... kill-OOH! what's this."

I felt a tingling feel on my face right above my mouth. I reached up with my hoof, ignoring the I.V.'s in my arm. I feel a... mustache! Handle bar nontheless. She watched in confusion as I stroked my 'stache.

Getting back to the important. I scoot myself to rest my back on the pillow and we stared at one another."So." I began awkwardly. "You didn't kill me. What did you do to me? Why do I have a handle bar? not saying I don't like it. How do I look with it? Answer that one first."

She just stared back at me for a moment with what looked like concern, but I'm not really sure. "Uh. You like fine. Certainly acting fine. Uh. Well. I was casting a spell on you that makes you grow a mustache. The perfect mustache. Though the whole epic thing was just to scare you, I didn't think that I would actually give you a heart attack. You just stood there standing with your eyes closed and then fell over. I ran over to see what was wrong when I checked you pulse. But there was no pulse. I teleported us to the hospital and you were taken under immediate care. I'm so so so so sorry. I didn't know you would die from growing a mustache."

With that, I just layed back and let my mind wander.
