The Midnight Star

Chapter 4

We galloped out of the alley and parted ways, I had promised to meet them at Sweet Apple Acres after school tomorrow, but for now I headed home galloping the whole way.

"woah, slow down Midnight , we need to have a little chat" at that moment the pink filly from earlier limped round the corner, she was beaten and bruised "this filly tells me you caused all this, is that true?"

"she was picking on all these other little fillies and I couldn't just sit there and watch" I explained Please believe me Heroic, please "even ask Applebloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo"

"no I wasn't...I-I was about to...donate to their Summer Harvest Day Parade...float and you...just came and attacked me!" she lied, her face showed the pain it caused her to say them words.

"Midnight, I want you to apologise, not only to her but to her family, and you're not allowed any of your things for 2 weeks"

"Heroic you have to believe me, I did it to protect my new friends" I pleaded "please believe me"

"I'm sorry midnight, you still hurt this poor filly and you need to be taught a lesson!" my brother obviously irritated. I decided I'd listen to avoid angering him anymore.

"FINE" I shouted at him , stomping away up into the house, I realised I didn't know which was my room yet so I just hid in the bathroom.

"MIDNIGHT?" My brother shouted, I had been locked in the bathroom for 3 hours, ignoring everything Heroic said.

"I'm not coming out, you don't believe anything I say, even if it's me that's hurt" I shouted tears began welling up in my eyes.He never listens to me, he doesn't believe a thing I say if it concerns me and another pony I looked around for anything I could remotely hurt myself with, after many, many memories flood my mind of ponies picking on me, hurting me. "why didn't mom and dad leave me with auntie Luna?"

Luna is my godmother but I prefer to call her my aunt, my mom was best friends with Luna when she made her return, thanks to the Elements of Harmony, though I had already been born I didn't have any godparents so she made Luna mine.

"Midnight, I don't believe you because most of the time you don't tell the truth and because I'm your brother I'm directly related to you" Heroic truthfully explained

"what? even when I'm hurt and bleeding, because I got jumped on the way home?" I said, remembering my own personal blade was in my saddlebags. Searching through my saddlebags I found my it, pulling it out with my magic, the blade gleaming in the dull light from the window, "I'm sorry Heroic!" I said, slicing the blade across my foreleg quickly, blood pouring out, Sweet blade, you are my only friend right now.

"MIDNIGHT! LET ME IN!"

"I've already done it, I'm sorry....I'll clean it up" I said. I opened the door and limped towards my brother. "I'm sorry, which is my room?"

He ignored my question and quickly got some tissue for my abnormally bloody foreleg. "Midnight give me the knife" he said cleaning my wound.

I handed it him "I'm so sorry Heroic" I said tears slowly making their way down my face. "I love you"

"I know you're sorry and I love you too, that's why I have to take your knife off you for good, Your room is that one, it's bigger than your old room" he pointed to the one next to the bathroom.

"I'm so sorry, can I get some paper to write to Vengeful Dagger?"

"I've already put some in your room" He replied, disappointment showing in his voice.

It must have been a few hours before I finally picked up the quill and started to write because Luna had won the battle for reign over the sky for the night, until Celestia came back to claim her spot.

I've had a shitty first day here, I've already got into a fight... I'm sorry... But I couldn't handle it you know my brother doesn't listen to me, so I didn't listen to him........I've done it again I'm so sorry, I love you so much.

I rolled up the scroll and used the spell Luna taught me to send the message, it vanished into my blue and purple flames.I hope this one makes it to her first, not her dad. I took my first proper look around my room the walls where a beautiful shade of midnight blue, the same colour as part of my two shade mane, and the wall to my right was the other shade of my mane. This room is quite nice I like it, it's so calm.

I slowly wandered over to my bed and sat on my haunches, there was still a slight pain in my foreleg but it had died down mostly and I had stopped bleeding altogether, I could tell the scar would be a permanent one I did it to deep to heal properly.

"why did you do it?" My brother made his way into my room, I jumped at this.

"what?" I asked in confusion.

"why did you do it? Cut yourself again I mean?" he repeated "you made a promise to mom, dad, Aunt Luna, Vengeful Dagger and me you wouldn't do it again"

"I'm so sorry but I couldn't take it that lying filly just brought memories of Canterlot back and them bullies and everything" I burst into tears and comforted myself in my brothers embrace "I'm..s-sorry"

"I did believe you, but you still shouldn't have hurt her at all, you should have told her father or me" He explained. "I realise you were sticking up for those fillies but violence isn't the answer, and neither is hurting yourself. Now. What do you say to going down to your new school with me to make sure the teacher knows who you are?"

"yeah, sure, I'll join you. Can we put this day behind us and have a fresh start?"

"yes, but you're still grounded but only for next week, you can still go out but you can't have your toys or your ball"

We walked down the dimly lit street, towards the schoolhouse. The night sky was exceptionally beautiful tonight, Luna must have worked extra hard on this one, the stars gleamed down providing limited light in this dark night.

As we got closer to the schoolhouse, more memories tried to fight their way back but I pushed them away mentally, memories of school and how even my teachers picked on me. I'm sure this teacher will be nice. The sign in front of the door read.

Miss Cheerilees classroom, the best education for young fillies and colts in ponyville.

When we go closer we could here somepony inside rushing about. "hello,Miss cheerilee?" Heroic said stepping inside, she was a dark-ish shade of pink with 3 sunflowers for her cutie mark .

"why, hello you must be the new pony in town, will you be in my class?"

"yes, miss, I'm Midnight Star"

"well it's very nice to meet you Midnight" she greeted with a cheery tone in her voice

"do you know that young filly? erm what was her name? Diamond Tiara?"

"yes?"

"well just watch them two together, they got into a bit of a fight earlier and I don't want either of them harmed anymore"

"thank you for the warning I will keep that in mind" she took a physical note down to remind herself.

"well we must be off, it's time we got some sleep it's going to be a long day tomorrow" my brother explained as we started heading out of the school house

"I'll see you tomorrow miss Cheerilee" I managed to say before leaving.
